If you are a fan of Freida McFadden, you will like this one! The characters are so unlikeable and the twists keep coming! With Multiple POVs the pieces come together at the very end! Some of the chapters are long but it reads really quick! Perfect for a day read on the beach or cozy on the couch!

I really wanted to like this one given all of the good reviews. But this one just fell for me. The beginning started off great, but around the middle point, it really slowed down. I did appreciate all of the POV’s, but I didn’t find any characters like able. Overall a decent, quick read, just wasn’t my favorite.

Not what I was expecting….nothing is as it seems. Hard to give a review without giving anything away, but this book was twisty and crazy and I loved it!

This was a fun, fast-paced read. We meet Jasmine and Stephanie at the start as they’re each planning a trip, one to flee an abusive boyfriend and the other to a work conference. Not too far into the book, the POVs change and we learn about Stephanie’s experience at the conference through her coworkers when she doesn’t return from her trip, instead following a fellow news director to Atlanta.

I won’t go into too much details to avoid spoiling things, but it’s the kind of book that is filled with assumptions and misdirects. I had some suspicions early on, but couldn’t piece together what had happened. The more points of view and chapters begins to fill in the blanks and paint the fuller picture.

It’s interesting since we don’t spend much time getting to know the two women in the beginning, you default into being sympathetic to them when maybe they don’t deserve it.

Certainly a clever read.



(SPOILER: However, I have to say I struggled with the idea that one character was clever enough to make everything come together but also needed to be taught how to use Uber. It was a minor detail that I was very hung up one since they were so smart in plotting their crimes, it seemed silly to need to learn that app.)

I enjoyed this one, but it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat like I originally thought it would. All of the different POVs was a bit confusing at first. I also don't love that kind of writing in general. A few chapters here or there with a POV is fine for me, but the multitude of them in this book, had my head spinning a little bit. All in all, the story line was well thought out amd had twists in all of the correct places.

This book is a debut by the author. This was a twisty thriller and kept me intrigued until the end. I felt the ending was a little bit unbelievable but overall this was a fun read. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

Wow, wow, wow! I ended up loving this book!!! At first, I was getting annoyed because I was like what is the point of any of this? It was driving me nuts! But then the book totally shocked me and I couldn’t put it down! I mean those twists! That ending!? What?! Hang in there at the beginning because you are embarking on a wild ride! What a fun read!!!

Twisty, turny, rollercoaster of a thriller! The Business Trip sails along through abusive relationships, despicable people, mysterious crimes and then WHAM! Several surprises explode in the story and end rushes forward with unexpected moments. Great plot thunderbolts!

Do you like twists and turns in a murder mystery? If you do this one is for you. I definitely did not see most of these twists coming. For a while you can't even tell the good guy from the bad guy. Jasmine leaves her abusive boyfriend. Stephanie has gone on a work trip. Both appear to vanish. Dead or alive? Told from varying character's points of view, this one will keep you reading far into the night.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the arc! While reading this book, there were a couple twists I did not see coming. I did like that it kept me guessing what would happen next. The multiple POV’s at times did confuse me at times but I understand why they were needed for the story.

The story is told in first person from multiple points of view. The main character, I finally realized, is the first POV, Jasmine, who is probably the least likable. She's fleeing an abusive relationship, which garners sympathy, but as the reader gets to know her better, her dark backstory comes out, making her less sympathetic.
Jasmine and Stephanie, a successful news director from Madison, WI, end up on the same plane out of town, where their fates are sealed. Stephanie seemed more likable in the beginning, but in the end, she disappointed me too.
There are some surprising plot twists—especially at the end—but most seemed a little unbelievable.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the read.

The plot centers on two women, previously unconnected, who meet on a flight to Denver. Soon after, their friends and family begin receiving mysterious text messages that suggest something sinister involving a man named Trent McCarthy.

The first two-thirds of the book were incredibly engaging—I was completely drawn into the story and connected with the characters. However, as the author began to reveal more towards the end, it detracted from the mystery and suspense, laying out too much information and diminishing the reader's opportunity to piece together the puzzle themselves. The conclusion of the book was particularly disappointing, leading me to reassess my initial enthusiasm.

While I would rate this book 3.5 stars due to its strong start and intriguing premise, it ultimately felt like a missed opportunity to deliver a more satisfying finish. A few adjustments could have potentially elevated the entire reading experience.

This thriller started out quick and kept up the pace. I know thrillers are supposed to be unbelievable, but parts of this one just really got me and I had trouble separating my disbelief to enjoy the story. The ending was twisty, and overall I enjoyed the book and it kept me wanting to know what happened to Stephanie and Jasmine. The author's description of sleazy Trent also made me feel a bit sick to my stomach, as I think many women can relate to being trapped with a man like him!

Twisted thriller involving several different characters from all over the US converging together to attend a convention in California. Case of mistaken identity, perhaps. Things are not always how they seem as the main character wants to escape from her husband and finds ways to hide under someone else's identity.

Have you ever read a book that was so good, that when you reached the end of it, all you could do was applaud the author? Well, that is exactly what happened when I read The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia. This has to be one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time. It grabbed my attention right from the start and once the twists start coming, they do not stop until the very end. I cannot wait to read more titles by this author.

For a debut novel, this was a good book. It sucked me in immediately but unfortunately, the ending almost ruined the whole experience. I am not sure why she made that choice...but it is still worth it to give the book a try.

Wow! What an incredible debut thriller! This has such an addictive storyline and well-written characters. It’s one of those thrillers that will have you thinking about it long after you’ve finished.

Debut author Jessie Garcia (who is actually a news director in Milwaukee) had a chance encounter with a woman on a plane and she was inspired to give us seat mates Stephanie, a TV news director going to San Diego for a weekend conference, and Jazmine, a down-on-her-luck escapee from a brutal partner. Jazmine was planning to go to Denver; Stephanie is taking the connecting flight to California. We only get to know them briefly as the rest of the story is told from the POVs of the people left behind in Madison, Wisconsin.

In Jazmine’s world, there’s her abusive drunk boyfriend Glenn, who was making her world smaller and smaller by taking her money and her car, and constantly keeping track of her. He’s furious when he realizes she’s ditched him and vows to hunt her down. Jazmine’s friend since high school, Anna, and co-worker and the bar, has been helping her stash money away. All she knows is that Jazmine is going to the airport to pay cash for a ticket somewhere. Anna never expects to see Jazmine again.

In Stephanie’s world, she knows she has a good life and is yearning for maybe something more.caring about her are her cat-sitter/neighbor Robert, and co-workers Bruce and Lucy, plus her boss, Dave. They’re expecting her back on Monday.

But both groups of people start getting separate texts from Stephanie and Jazmine — both of them are now in Atlanta, with a sleazy local news director named Trent who was also at the San Diego conference. Both women are initially gushing over meeting “Trent” until they both suddenly sounded scared and terrified. And both of their Madison friend groups are increasingly horrified. Stephanie’s co-workers and neighbor no longer believe it’s her using her phone. Glenn is out-of-loop, but Anna is concerned about Jazmine as well. How are the two women tied together with creepy Trent?

This book was so well-written that I couldn’t put it down. I hope the publisher has an amazing PR campaign for this author, because I want this 5 star read to be read by as many thriller fans as possible! It’s an incredible heart-throbbing, page-turner!

This was such an interesting, intriguing, and captivating story.
Two women on two separate paths that collide. As the story unravels and I thought I saw where this was going, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I enjoyed the multiple points of views, they made this even more intriguing and suspicious. Great plot, good suspense, and clever, unexpected twists.
