Thank you to NetGalley for the audio ARC. This book is a good overview for people who don’t know a lot about Taylor Swift, or who know her music but not her background. It did feel very surface level, though. Most biographies have some sort of point of view. This POV was quite simply, “Taylor is amazing!” Which, yes, I 100% agree, but I think I wanted some more depth or more of a story. It simply went era by era, reciting facts without tying them together or crafting a narrative. The book praised Taylor’s storytelling but didn’t tell much of its own story.

Loaded with facts about Taylor Swift. If you’d like to know Taylor’s background and some insights into her songs, check this one out.

As a day one Swiftie, I found it enchanting to clean more about Taylor Swift throughout her life and career. Although somewhat chronological, my only main complaint is that it did bounce around to add anecdotes here and there that contributed to events past or future. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the way Taylor’s story was told!

This book is well written & researched but it’s more for the new Swifties rather than those who have been fans for a while. Some of the details were focused on a little to much while others were not given the attention they deserved.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Caroline Sullivan for an audio galley of Taylor: Era by Era in exchange for an honest review.
I'm going to keep this one pretty sure.
I'm 43 years old & a DIEHARD Taylor fan since the very beginning. I was extremely excited to listen to this audiobook.
Sadly, there was not ONE single thing in this book that I didn't already know. I don't think there would anything new in here for any true Swiftie.
I know it said interviews were conducted, etc. I find that hard to believe because literally everything in this book is readily available outside of this book.
I will say, though - it's Taylor Swift, so I firmly believe it will still sell.

OK you might ask why I’m reviewing this book. I’m not a “Swiftie”. I’m musically diverse but country isn’t in my top 5. I can only admit to being curious, she’s in the limelight a lot.
This unauthorized biography covers her earliest childhood to present day & because it’s unauthorized I imagine that most of this is in the public record. Still. I liked that it’s all in one place and really well organized. The narrator did a fine job sharing the facts.
Taylor is a really interesting soul. Here we learn that LeeAnn Rimes was her inspiration to try her hand at country music and karaoke motivated her to take the leap. She could now be motivating young singers herself and paying it forward!!
I enjoyed the story about how she learned how to play guitar at a young age to advance her career and how she did all the legwork through Nashville to get her face/voice out there. She turned down record companies. She banked on herself.
You get a lot of information regarding her formative years, her parents were in finance and before she decided on a career in music she wanted to be a stock broker like her dad. This made me smile as the book goes on to say that she’s very financially savvy and worth over a billion dollars. Can you say role model for a new generation?!
I was really touched that the author spends time delving into how Taylor didn’t make friends easily in school and how to this day she’s kind to all her fans. The author, being a journalist, has name dropped all kinds of musicians and gone over most of the top media stories, good & bad so you get the scope of the whirlwind that is Taylor’s life.
There was a lot of information covered in this 7 hour audiobook but it flowed so well that it flew by.
Thank you NetGalley & Dreamscape media for the chance to get to know this country music legend.
4.5 stars

This was a nice and easy to listen to audiobook. The author is clearly very knowledgable and was able to give detailed and interesting background information about Taylor and her music. The information was well planned out and easy to follow and the narrator did a great job of keeping the energy consistent throughout. I think there was enough information in the book to be interesting to listeners whether you are a die hard fan or someone who just wants to know a bit more about this iconic singer. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to listen to and review this book.

I really enjoyed listening to this Audiobook. The book gave lots of background on Taylor. And the layout was well plotted. It broke down a lot of her music and how it was influenced by what was happening in her life. The narrator was upbeat and great! I also really enjoyed that this book seemed to be very current as well as providing background. I think any Swiftie, or people wanting to know more about Swift will enjoy this book, and the nostalgic ride down memory lane, through each and every Era.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ability to listen and review this arc audiobook copy.

This was a very detailed biography and I would agree that it encompassed all Eras, minus The Tortured Poets Department. As an avid Taylor fan, the only data that stood out to me as incorrect had to do with friendship bracelets which I will go into detail on below. Definitely not anything major really just a slight error but nothing that completely ruined any credibility. This biography really was true and factual with little to no inconsistencies. I would recommend for any fan, new or long time. Anyone wanting to touch up on their knowledge, discover info they may not have known, or just looking for a good biography should definitely check this one out!
The incorrect info: the statement was made that friendship bracelets came to be after the Midnights Era when Taylor included the line about making friendship bracelets in the song You’re on Your Own Kid. This is false. Friendship bracelets at Taylor’s concerts took off in the Speak Now era. The line in YOYOK was really Taylor’s just acknowledging that aspect in a song, kind of like a shout out to the fans that she sees us. Again, nothing super discrediting to the author.
I will say at times I was a tad bit confused as it was separated by Eras but there was a lot of cross over. Almost like organized chaos. We would be in the Speak Now era but just forward to Red or 1989 for a sentence or two to explain why future Taylor did something and then jump back to Speak Now.
Overall, as stated above, a great biography and I would definitely recommend!

Taylor: Era by Era” was a disappointment. It didn’t offer much new information that I didn’t already know, and its attempt at a chronological structure was frustratingly disorganized. The book struggled to maintain a clear timeline, which made it difficult to follow and detracted from the overall experience. Not what I was hoping for.

I'll be upfront in saying that I wouldn't call myself a Swiftie! I've listened to her from the beginning but more on the radio, and of course, watched all the attention brought on her in recent years. I heard a lot of information about her career that I didn't know. I'd say this is definitely more of an adult read and wouldn't hold the attention of younger fans. I wish there were more stories/antidotes to make it more interesting though.
Thank you to Netgalley, Caroline Sullivan and Dreamscape Media for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I have a daughter who has just got into Taylor Swift, so I was really glad to get a copy of this audiobook to review. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
The audiobook is a good introduction to the world of Taylor Swift, with lots of information about her origins and each era of her career. It gives interesting insight and context into some of her most famous songs. I'd say it's more suited to adult Swifties than to my pre-teen. She found it a bit too detail orientated in parts and because disengaged in her listening experience. I think it will serve her well if she listens to it periodically, rather than in one go.
Taylor: Era by Era is a interesting audiobook for new and established Swifties. It would be great for a road trip, particularly if you interspersed each era of the book with the music from that time as you travel.

I'm usually wary of unauthorized biographies, but this one sticks to established facts about Taylor Swift.
If you're a dedicated Swiftie, you probably won't find much new information here. This book is better suited for casual fans or those interested in learning more about her.
The book is organized by album/era, with a detailed section on Taylor's pre-record deal days. There isn't much on "Tortured Poets Department" due to the book's publication timing, but her other works are well-covered.
I wish it had more content for dedicated fans, providing new insights. Nonetheless, it will likely appeal to less devoted fans or those new to Taylor Swift's music.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't know a lot of details about Taylor's career so this did cover all that but it was not real personal although I think they tried to throw personal stories in where they could.

ahhh.. as a new swiftie i wanted to love this and find out all the swiftie things i didn’t know but this felt like just something you could find on wikipedia. it definitely wasn’t my favorite.

Thank you for my gifted audiobook!
As a huge swiftie I enjoyed this! I already knew most everything. I didn’t know as much of how she got started, so I enjoyed learning new things. I think brand new swifties would really enjoy this breakdown of each era!

I'm not exactly in the "Swifty" age category. However, this is an amazing story on how she got her start. Loved all the different ways she was able to get through difficult time and stayed strong through out. Thank you Taylor for your kindness and inspiration shown!!

My daughter is a huge Swiftie and went to the Eras tour last year. From her I’ve watched all the documentaries and have listened to all the albums.
I did learn some new things. Mostly regarding her brand and the business side of her career.
This is a great listen for fans. Wasn’t quite for me, but I think anyone who has been a Swift fan for years would enjoy. Good Narration.

This was an in depth look into the rise of Taylor's career. This is a great read for casual Swifties, like myself. It was fun to get a glimpse into her music and how it was influenced especially as a tween songwriter.

A very thorough look into the rise of Taylor Swift’s career form the very start. Not only does each album get a chapter and insight into what influenced the music but also the business know how that also went along with it. A look at a pop superstars career from a tween songwriter onwards to the unprecedented Eras tour. A good read for Swifties and casual fans alike.
