Initially, I judged the book by the cover and thought โthis is one of those cheesy romance novelsโ, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. The characters were very likable, the plot was simple yet interesting, I felt like I was transported back in time and place with this story. I was also challenged with some older English vocabulary and I enjoy expanding my repertoire.

I LOVE Eva Devon, and how she tells a story. Historical romance has always been a favorite genre of mine, and I have never been disappointed with one of her novels.
I loved Alice and how headstrong she was. She knows what she wants, and is not willing to settle. The unexpected romance with Felix is the perfect plot twist. I love how the characters interacted and the side stories that helped keep the plot moving forward. While Eva Devon novels may be predictable, the guy is going to get the girl, the journey is always entertaining. I love the commentary, and the build up to romance. This was a quick and enjoyable read. Perfect for anyone looking for a spicy one day read!

I don't usually read Historical Romances much so this was pleasantly surprising with how much I enjoyed it. Kinda has forgotten how amazing historical romances could be, but this book definitely makes me want to read more of them. This is my first read by this author and it definitely won't be the last.

Lovely story of the healing power of love.
It is interesting what children will internalize after a loss of a loved one. One thinks it is their fault and doesn't deserve love. The other sees the pain of one left behind and sees it as a reason to steer clear of love and whatever comes with it. Each carries such a heavy burden thinking they are protecting themselves and others, when the pain just adds to the burden.
Lord Felix Brightman, Earl of Enderley, has managed to avoid any and all emotional involvement, while training spies and managing soldiers in the Horse Guards. He is essentially going through his life like an automaton, with the exception of his friendship with the Duke of Tynemore, who is devastated by the loss of his beloved wife. He knows he will eventually need to marry...the need for an heir, but that whole business can simply be a business transaction.
Miss Alice Wright, bright, capable, straightforward and vivacious, simply wants to make perfumes. She feels stuck in her small village and worries for her mother, whom she helps making ointments, tinctures and other herbal remedies for the village at the family apothecary. She is the oldest and helps her mother more now, after the death of her father. Her dream is to have a perfume shop and make lovely scents for people.
Their meet cute had me giggling and looking forward to their journey. That she was able to not only ground him but to shake him out of his narrow mindset. She has a natural enthusiasm for life, is personable and knows the villagers so well she can help Felix in his scheme. They are lovely together and seeing her draw him out is so wonderful.
The villain is crafted so nicely. You dislike him before he physically enters the story. As the story continues and his nastiness, arrogance and downright dastardly acts came out...well we all know I am a bit blood thirsty and he deserved much worse than he got. Perhaps dysentery will befall him an route to his final justice.
We are gifted, once again, with the wonderfully crafted characters and world of Ms. Devon. she brings humor, grace, and depth to each big the characters in her books. She makes each chance encounter with someone feel like you leave knowing them deeply. As always, I was not disappointed by this book.

What an adorable love story. The author does a fanstatic job of conveying the excitement and positive energy of the main characters. There was good banter and flirting as well as friendship and love with just a tiny hint of spice. The story was paced well, and the flow and nice even rhythm. Overall, an enjoyable book that leaves you with all the good feelings.

I absolutely loved The Earl and the Country Girl by Eva Devon! Itโs such a sweet and heartwarming romance. The characters are so likable, and the story flows beautifully with just the right mix of humor and charm. Watching the connection grow between the earl and the country girl was a joy. If you enjoy a feel-good historical romance, this book is a delightful read!

I have recently started reading books by this author and have very much enjoyed them and this one was no exception. It's a classic Regency romp that was fun and entertaining. The characters are well-developed, full of liveliness and interesting and the witty banter between them is absolutely on point. Alice and Felix meet in a lavender field. He is an earl pretending to be a stablehand but she sees right through his facade. He is trying to ensure the caretaker he has hired is adequately doing his job. Alice's dream is to become a successful parfumier, and so the earl makes a deal with her. He will help her realize her dream if she in turn helps him. As they work together they form a strong friendship which quickly develops into something much more.
This was a highly entertaining and enjoyable
story with some plot twists that kept me interested till the end. The characters were lovely and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and following their story.

Will class and career pursuits keep an Early and a country girl apart?
Curses, love potions, a plan and a realization of what they truly desire will for two strangers to explore passion in a quest for love.
A spicy historical read that delves into a desire to be loved, make a home and create a place to build a family.

A great class divide romance. I love that this story broke the mold with class divide. I'm realizing their love there was never a request to change or fit in.
Though he is an Earl, he clearly is not fully in the ton and thus they can live a quiet life. He embraced her dreams and supported them. Any society they are apart of will have to fit with them and not the reverse. This made this story a pure delight.

I always forget how much I love historical romances and how fun they can get while reading. The banter is great, it's love at first sight but I donโt want it vibe. And the tension between the two do them is phenomenal.
It's a dual pov which I love.
The plot halfway through changes and itโs not bad just felt more rushed than I usually want. It's a very quick read and has the spice you want from a book like this and a fun read if you have a Bridgerton hangover.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled publishing for the opportunity to read this e-arc! This is my honest opinion!

4.5 stars!
The romance between Alice and Felix is beautifully written, with their partnership and friendship developing naturally. Both characters are strong-willed and opposites, which makes their sizzling connection even more captivating. While I felt the chemistry wasnโt always believable and the ending a bit rushed, the story kept me engaged throughout. Alice's delightful personality and Felix's loyalty make them endearing characters.
Overall, this is a charming and entertaining romance, perfect for readers who enjoy witty banter and a love that defies societal expectations of their times.

I love a historial romance. The banter is fantastic and I loved the dual pov. This was such a great book to read after I finished the Bridgerton series and I will absolutely read more of Eva's books now!

I aim to be honest in all of my reviews and in full transparency I was unable to finish this book. Full disclosure there was nothing necessarily wrong with the writing itself or the author, I want to be clear that not finishing the book was a preference issue for me. I just could not get into the story or connect with the characters. I understand that the story is set during the regency era in Europe but I struggled with the speech and language of the characters as well.

Nobody works a HEA like Eva Devon and this book does not disappoint. Felix and Alice both know exactly what they want and how their life should be but fate always has a different plan. Felix takes a little longer to figure it out so thereโs just enough angst to keep those pages turning.

I needed a good book to read that would help me with my Bridgerton fix and this book did it for me. Now I did a good book to read after finishing this book. Definitely going to check out more from this author.

I picked this up because it sounded like a fun romp!
A young woman who dreams of being a perfumer but is stuck working with her widowed mother in the family apothecary, and an earl who pretends to be a new stable worker on his estate while he's trying to sus out whether his land manager is skimming from the top. She totally sees through him upon their initial meeting, and offers to coach him on how to be a commoner.
Unfortunately, I just couldn't connect with the characters, even though they seemed like very good people. I was reading this one on my Kindle Paperwhite just before bed, so some nights I was only reading a chapter or two before falling asleep. That didn't help the fact that the plot moves very slowly here. The author also seems to rely on descriptions more than dialog, which isn't something I prefer.
I think if I pushed through to finish, I would have given this book 3 stars (2.5 rounded up).

The Earl and the Country Girl. My fellow readers. The writer put their foot in this book and did let up until the last word has been written. I thoroughly enjoyed this love story from beginning to end. The two main characters Felix and kept hope alive for other friends and family that there is truly real love out there for you and donโt ever give up. I love the humor that always seems to come first in Felixโs and Lanaโs conversation before the naughty thoughts begin. I actually didnโt could not figure whose mind was more naughtier, Felix or Lanaโs. The story is one that moves fast, which I truly was happy about. There wasnโt to much drama, but I loved the mystery mixed with the romance. I had so much fun reading this book. I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

I enjoyed the tropes in this books so much. I also really like that the main female character had a motivation beyond just "not wanting to get married." I thought it was really cool that her uniqueness came in the form of herbs and smells. I could see this playing out like a Bridgerton show in my mind. I did not love the main male character's back story but I guess it mainly made sense. I actually kind of was rooting for the girl to become independent and run a successful shop without his help. However, I do think he redeemed himself well and it ended like every historical romance should with them together in his country estate and a new baby on the way.

Love a good Eva Devon standalone! Here we have Felix, suspecting something is going awry at a country estate, who decides to go in disguise to check on things. And Alice, an aspiring perfumer who immediately sees through his attempts. While much of what happened next required suspending knowledge of the period and ton etiquette, it was still an entertaining and enjoyable read! I hope for more in this universe!

I forgot how much I like reading historical romances! Thanks to Bridggerton for making me venture into this genre again, because I really liked The Earl and the Country Girl and it gave me the perfect Bridgerton vibes, after season 3 of Bridgerton left me a little disappointed (but that's a story for another day lol).
I really liked the whole setting and the banter between the Earl - Felix - and Alice. These two seemed to hit it off instantly and I loved that Felix wasn't a stuffy lord who felt above everyone else. Felix is down to earth, compassionate and has his heart in the right place. He wants to help those around him and doesn't stand for injustice. It made him likeable instantaneously!
Alice was also wonderful though. She seems a little naive despite her age and despite the things she must have already endure with her family not being very well off. But she has that curious innocent wonder about her that made her endearing.
The book is quite fast paces with many things happening, but I most liked the interactions between Felix and Alice because they seem so genuine. Especially because there didn't seem to be a need for Alice to hold her tongue around Felix. She speaks freely to him and he doesn't seem to mind. Not even when she admonishes him about his disguise and his talents of deceipt simply being not good enough to fool anyone.
The only critique I have is that I wish this book had focussed more on the hidden identity part, because I really enjoyed all these scenes in the countryside!
