As the subtitle explains, this is a critical analysis of Harwood’s novels plays and screenplays, the first comprehensive one to do so, filling a notable gap in Harwood scholarship. It incorporates a brief biography and then gives a full survey of his work, providing a synopsis and analysis of each of his 7 novels, 16 plays and 8 screenplays. A valuable resource for scholars as well as the general reader, it’s a wonderful vade mecum for future reference. Clearly and accessibly written, and thoroughly researched.

A very thorough study of Ronald Harwood's life and work, and very interesting thoughts about tragedy. A very interesting read for theatre historians but also for writers.
