Haaaaa....

Let's start at the beginning, I received an eARC of this book from netGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was ecstatic when they sent it to me because I have always been obsessed with reincarnation romances (I blame Sailor Moon). All I knew going in was the tag line, "They've been in love in every life for 1000 years and they've killed each other in every one."

That's all you really need to know, but if you want to know more then please continue reading....

Branwen Blythe is the newest reincarnation of Evelyn, who is swiftly approaching her 18th birthday. She knows her lover/murderer Arden will be coming for her soon, as she has never lived long enough to turn 18. But with only two weeks until her birthday and no sign of Arden, Branwen is becoming paranoid about who he (or she) may be, since she can not always tell. He can always find her, but she can not always identify him. As she searches for her would-be killer, we also get glimpses into the past lives of our doomed lovers. Why are they trapped in this tragic cycle, and how did it all begin? And will Branwen finally live to turn 18?

Okay now for my opinions. At about 60% this started to really drag. A lot of the themes and ideas are repeated through each flashback. And I had a hard time connecting with Arden as he seems more like a mythical figure, always at a distance, than a real person who can love and be loved. We only ever see them together at the end of their lives, when they are already in love, and also already hate/resent each other, so I felt like it was more tell than show. The POV in modern times was also the least interesting of them all, and the flash back just became too repetitive. I honestly skimmed the last 15%.

If you love flowery writing and poetry and beautiful quotes then you'll have a good time.

Time travel and fate get tangled in this smart, tender love story. It’s sharp, feminist, and way more emotionally intelligent than I was expecting. The yearning…ugh! Read this.

I had a good time reading this book! It's fast-paced and easy to get through quickly; I crushed it in a day and had a great time with it.

OUR INFINITE FATES follows Evelyn and Arden, two supernatural beings who are immortal but are doomed to kill each other before their 18th birthday in every lifetime. After they're killed, they begin a new life, where the countdown begins again. But when Evelyn's sister needs a bone marrow transplant from her to survive, Evelyn has to find a way to outsmart Arden and buy herself more time.

I found the writing style to be very lyrical and immersive; Steven excels at pulling you in quickly and keeping you engaged until the end of the story. There were several lines that stole my breath, as well, that I would've absolutely highlighted if I'd been reading a digital version of this story (since I didn't get to this book until after it was published, I read my physical copy instead of my digital ARC).

The characterization was definitely to be commended as well--Evelyn and Arden in particular are two very complex characters with their own unique motivations and complicated feelings toward each other. I enjoyed rooting for both of them, despite their flaws, and the reveal we were working to throughout the story didn't feel overly obvious to me--I was able to theorize as I was reading, which I enjoy doing. I loved how Steven incorporated their past lives as well through some of the chapters and thought both Evelyn and Arden's voices changed as they lived different lives while also remaining recognizable to the reader.

Of course, Evelyn's sister, Gracie, was a favorite character of mine. Her sharp wit and obvious adoration for her sister made her easy to love, and any scene that she was in was absolutely a highlight.

As I often find with YA books, I did struggle with the ending because it felt a bit too easy and convenient--and perhaps a little cliche--how the events unfolded.

But overall, I would recommend this story if you're looking for a quick, fun fantasy read!

Thank you to Netgalley and Wednesday Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a great take on such a unique idea. Loved how the writing kept me on my toes but was also easy enough to understand. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall I was satisfied with it.

I really wanted to love this, and I did! I just really can't get behind the devil of it all. Other than that, excellent story telling and character development.

Devastatingly beautiful and incredibly profound, this book changed my entire perception of death. A love letter to the best and the worst parts of humanity, what makes it worth it to be alive and also what makes it literally the worst. The writing was absolutely gorgeous, I saved sooooo many passages and sentences that brought tears to my eyes and stirred feelings of melancholy, hope, and RUTHFUL(ness?). I was completely immersed every single second. My only holdback is the love story wasn’t quite exactly there for me, and the ending also wasn’t quite there either. I felt both of those areas could have used a bit more development. Overall though, an incredible story that I’d absolutely recommend if you want to feel a lot of feelings!!!

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was well written. It really changes the typical enemies to lovers trope since they are always finding each other in every lifetime.. but then killing each other. I loved when we got to go back in time, revealing more of the two main characters relationship throughout the years, but I only wish we got to see and know more to really develop our connection to the characters.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the ARC.

4.5 stars!

Wow I did not expect to love this so much! A completely different type of fantasy than I was expecting. I was drawn in by the tag line (SO good) and it hit every mark. I was so intrigued by each lifetime and the people Evelyn and Arden became in each one. I loved the alternating timelines from the present back to a past one with little details of how and why this was happening slowly coming out.

The reveal of everything completely surprised me and the ending was so bittersweet, albeit a liiiitle rushed.

All in all I really enjoyed this one as absolutely recommend it!

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up

Our Infinite Fates takes the enemies to lovers trope and turns it on its head, taking the reader through a thousand years of love. I think this book is super unique and so beautifully written. I loved the chapters that went back in time, revealing more of the two main characters relationship throughout the years. It made everything feel deeper and more meaningful. By the end, I was totally hooked on their story.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the ARC. This was such a fun and emotional read!

For lovers of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue comes Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven, a haunting, beautiful story of love, fate, and redemption**

They’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes… and that’s exactly what makes this story so unforgettable.

This book is an emotional, deeply romantic journey through time, memory, and second chances. Evelyn (I'm so excited to share a name with her!) is a remarkable heroine — wise beyond her years, burdened with memories no teenager should carry, and fiercely protective of her little sister. Her struggle to outrun a fate she knows all too well is both heartbreaking and compelling.

The soul-deep bond between Evelyn and Arden is the beating heart of the story, equal parts tragic and tender. The concept of a love cursed to end in murder, lifetime after lifetime, is gripping on its own, but what makes this book truly shine is how it handles that love: with nuance, longing, and hope. Arden isn’t just a villain or a lover — he’s something far more complex, and watching their relationship unfold is both thrilling and devastating.

The writing is lyrical, the pacing keeps you turning pages, and the emotional depth lingers long after the final chapter. This is more than a story of reincarnation—it’s about the power of choice, the weight of memory, and the belief that even the darkest fates can be rewritten.

An achingly beautiful, unforgettable read.

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-new adult speculative romance
-timeline twists
-enemies to lovers
-a bit of amnesia
-close proximity
-fated mates

This had me in a chokehold from the beginning. The multiple timelines, the destiny, all intertwined with the present timeline. Evelyn's amnesia, her love for her family, her sister's cancer. It all broke my heart and had me so invested as these two fought fate, each other. The incredible difficulty of diving into such a rich history and yet having the reader experience without telling too much. This was a beautiful book and just a propulsive, escapist read.

Beautiful writing and a great YA recommendation for readers who enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I wish I had more time with each of the previous lives to fall harder for Evelyn and Arden.

I absolutely loved this book. This was definitely an unexpected gem that I found on my NetGalley shelf and I'm so glad I was able to enjoy it before it came out.

I loved the way the cast of characters was so vast but there were really only the two main characters. Laura Steven crafted such a fascinating concept and wove historical concepts into so much of this book I am in such awe.

This was a rare book that left me completely satisfied with a single book. I loved these characters but the ending was perfect. The glimpse the reader gets into this world is just enough to leave you haunted and thinking about it but I can appreciate the fact that more would only over saturate it. It was perfect as is and I wouldn't add or subtract a single thing.

This was my first book by Laura Steven and I would definitely continue to read books by this author. One last note, Addie LaRue was not my favorite book and that's no secret. This was what I wanted Addie LaRue to be - this was a love story that transcended time.

I really did want to love this one more than I did. Maybe it just wasn't the right time for me to read it but I just couldn't keep up with what was happening with the constant time jumps and pacing. We do spend most of the book in the present 2022 timeline, but the chapters do alternate between that and a random time period in the past. Each trip to the past was just so random, and didn't really seem to have as much of a point in showing more of their "fated" relationship. All it really did for me was show some of the past betrayals/deaths and they appeared to be more random than anything. It made it hard to feel the connection between the two characters that we are told is there every time Evelyn sees Arden again, but there was just not enough build up in each time period to really feel the betrayal and love between the characters that is described. More than anything, they just seemed like they were fated to be friends who killed each other over and over.

Evelyn also made me roll my eyes a few times when the book jumped back in time. What do you mean that you're surprised that the person born at the same time as you (just like Arden), gives you the same excited feeling (just like Arden), grown up with (just like Arden), and has the same personality as Arden, is actually Arden right before he has to kill you?

Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Laura Steven, and NetGalley for the eARC of this book. This is my honest opinion.

A beautifully written, heart wrenching story of a girl who is murdered in each life by the same person. What an interesting concept. I was a little disappointed in the ending.

It felt a bit repetitive at times and I think I would’ve liked it more if I didn’t read The Invisible life of Addie Larue first (which I disliked very much). It felt too similar to Addie Larue and I did not like that book at all. I liked the concept of this book though.

“Some stories stay with you. This one sings to you.”

Our Infinite Fates is one of those rare novels that quietly unravels you, then gently puts you back together. What pulled me in most were the characters—Arden and Evelyn—and the way their growth is handled with so much care and emotional honesty.

Arden’s transformation is subtle but powerful. He starts off guarded, trying so hard to control everything around him, but piece by piece, you see the walls come down. Evelyn, on the other hand, is a force of quiet hope. Her strength doesn’t come from being invulnerable—it comes from choosing to remain open, even when life gives her every reason to shut down. Watching their journeys intersect, diverge, and deepen was such a rewarding experience.

And then there’s the poetry. Wow. It’s woven throughout the book like breath—sometimes tender, sometimes aching, always beautiful. It’s not just decorative; it matters. It brings us closer to who these characters are on the inside and adds an emotional richness that stayed with me long after I finished.

If you love character-driven stories that feel both intimate and epic, and if you appreciate when prose and poetry blend seamlessly, Our Infinite Fates is a must-read.

This book was an interesting read and I feel like people either are really gonna love it or it's really not their thing. I have two reasons for being on the fence about it. The prose, while very pretty at times, is also superfluous at times and made it hard for me to stay in the emotions of the characters because the prose was just a bit too much. The second thing was the flashbacks. When done well, I can put up with flashbacks but generally, they're not my favorite. Here most of them were fine but some felt unnecessary or broke up the pacing too much. Overall, people will really latch onto the characters and the timeless love elements and if that is your jam, you can probably overlook the other stuff.
