Our Infinite Fates A Novel written by Laura Steven and narrated by Sofia Oxenham was a heartbreaking tale of love and grief with a twist at the end that I did not see coming. I loved the format Laura Steven created with the mix of flashbacks to help build the history of the characters. I did a dual read and listen. Sofia Oxenham brought so much emotion into Evelyn. Her narration performance was impeccable. 5/5 on romance (not spice - true romance) and 5/5 on emotions stirred.

💫 happy pub day! 💫

This book is full of heart, love, mystery, and magic - it's a new favorite of mine & this story is one that will stick with me for a while 🥹

This book follows two people who are continuously reincarnated through the centuries. They’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes…. But they’ve also killed each other in every one…
The concept for this book was very interesting and I was intrigued and wanted to know more! This book alternates between the present timeline and the characters’ histories together in prior lifetimes throughout history. The reader is left in the dark as to why they have this type of relationship until the end of the book.
I would say that despite there not being a ton of variation in what is happening in the historical chapters, I somehow still wanted to keep reading more. Overall, I thought the ending of the book was well done and was a good resolution to their love story, however, I would have liked a bit more resolution for the other main storyline.
I thought this was a very unique and interesting read as long as you go into it knowing there are some morbid elements.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc! This book is a very interesting concept and I love a good slow plot but this plot took forever for me to get into. I love hoping into each life and seeing how it was before we got to present day. The interesting plot kept me going but I had to take a lot of breaks because it was very slow. Overall I enjoyed my time with this read but it took forever.

Our Infinite Fates is a tender and thoughtful love story that plays out over ten hundred years, one life after another, facing the wrath of history along the way. All while exploring societal and political conflicts of both ancient and modern age, from an ageless (love-forward) perspective.
Evelyn and Arden have been pitted against one another, life after life, with two constants — each other, and that they both must die before the exact minute of their 18th year. All for a reason that only Arden knows and Evelyn is desperate to uncover, to finally live a full life and save her sister's.
Just the sheer ambition and scope of this story is wildly impressive. With the premise, I expected maybe a couple of lives to be explored — there are many, many more than that. Never the same culture or country, with the characters themselves fluidly embodying multiple races, genders, rich, poor, at peace, in war, lifelong friends or lovers, total strangers... all barreling towards the same tragic end.
Without a doubt, Our Infinite Fates is a rare storytelling achievement, likened in my mind to that of Cloud Atlas, with perhaps a dash of that ageless quality in Interview With the Vampire (without its macabre tone... and the rats).
There were things left on the table that I wish wouldn't have been, in terms of the ramp in emotionally character-driven plotting and the lack of an additional POV (which might have helped eliminate repetition). But — these are very much my own storytelling preferences.
All-in-all, Our Infinite Fates is a beautiful book for anyone in the mood for a pensive and profound read offering big-picture alternate perspectives on human history.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for this e-arc!
Spanning millennia, two souls are fated to meet and love and kill one another again and again for eternity. Obviously we need to know why and also how and so does our girl Evelyn.
The concept of this book is so achingly devastating I had to read it. Our Infinite Fates was so devastating and also hurt at times so immensely because Laura Steven has a way with words. I felt for these characters every step of the way and thought that although it’s YA (not my fav) I still enjoyed it.
However, unfortunately I think this book could have been executed a bit better. It felt clunky at times and also extremely repetitive - a risk taken with the premise. Had this book either had a more gripping present tense or was shorter by 75-100 pages it would have been a true banger.
3.5 ⭐️
Pick this one up 3/4 if you’re looking for fated soulmates, a devastating love story across the ages, or magical story telling!! I wanted to love this one, it just fell a bit flat.

I thought I would enjoy Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven after seeing comparisons to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, but I was not expecting to be captivated by Evelyn and Arden's tortured love story. I slowed down while reading this one so I could savor it, and I was not expecting the twists and turns that Steven employed to drive the plot progression. A very strong addition to the cursed love canon.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me.

This book was actually so stunning, I'm surprised this is a debut author! I am a sucker for reincarnation stories, but the absolute depth and background and world-building was so much more than I could ask for. This book was clearly a passion project, and the author did such a great job at spinning multiple timelines and connecting them all at the end. I didn't even guess at the plot twist in the end, and it was even more fun to enjoy this ride. The characters. both their present self and all their past selves, were well fleshed out with motives and history. The story being told out of order was also intriguing and felt relevant to the book as a whole. I also loved that in their forms, their souls had no gender and that this was respected in all of their timelines. A boy and a girl fall in love, but they're not always just a boy and a girl. I hope this author continues to write, I'd love to read more from them!

This book is marketed as “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” x “This Is How You Lose The Time War”, so of course I had to read this. The overall vibes do match, Addie and living for so long, collecting things from the life she loved. Time war in the sense of living in different times loving the same person over and over again. I just feel like it didn’t match it exactly. For half of the book I wasn’t really sold on the romance per se because we’re reading so many perspectives from different times and by then they’re already in love or killing each other. The real question was, why are they dying? Pacing wasn’t bad, the first 40% was a biiit slow for me but it picked up afterwards. Despite these things it still is a 4✨ for me and I would 100% recommend this because it is such a beautifully written book. I was amazed by the writing and the quotes and the overall story. My critiques are honestly minor details that might not bother other people but I really enjoyed this one!

I’m conflicted, I wanted so so badly to fall in love with this book. The writing is absolutely beautiful - poetry-like, stunning metaphors, and descriptive! However, something just felt sort of flat for me. The story, somewhat by design, felt repetitive to me. I understand that it’s meant to be repetitive but I was aching for more depth. Arden and Evelyn’s story is so powerful that I wanted to explore it more deeply.
The twist and ending were captivating but unfortunately, that’s only about 20% of the book. The rest was a very beautiful, but repetitive, tragic love story.
I want to thank @wednesdaybooks @stmartinspress @netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review💕

Wow, what an incredible story. Lauren Steven’s new book is unlike anything else I’ve read, and if the premise is at all interesting to you, you need to pick it up.
This story follows two people who have been reincarnated countless times, and though they love each other, they always kill each other before their eighteenth birthday. This life, though, Evelyn must stay alive to donate vital bone marrow to her little sister, and she will do anything it takes to stay alive until then.
Sometimes with YA fantasy it can feel like you’re reading a new iteration of the same story over and over again, and while that’s not a bad thing, this story is incredible in its uniqueness. The premise promises a story that you have not seen before, and this book delivers. Additionally, Steven does an amazing job of making you feel connected to these characters and their stories, and she does a wonderful job of making a story spanning a thousand years feel like nothing was left out but nothing was unnecessarily added.
Overall, the love story was beautiful, and I was not expecting the twists in this book at all! I highly recommended to anyone who reads a lot of fantasy books and wants a truly new and beautiful story.

i gotta admit, this was better than i expected. it's fast-paced and i didn't wanna put it down. i loved reading about their past lives; it was more interesting to me than their current lives. i also love that the author didn't restrain them both to being a male and female in all their lives--they both were both genders. while i can't speak for historical accuracy, it was enjoyable to get such different settings when we did go back into the past. they were flourished or well-rounded necessarily (since we don't spend a lot of time in each) but the variety alone was appealing. the whole good vs evil bit and how the conclusion came about was kinda whatever, big meh for me though. it was still an enjoyable read nonetheless.
thank you to netgalley and st. martin's press for the eARC!

Wow, this was such an amazing reading experience! There are definitely strong Addie LaRue themes, but overall it is a different book and it’s worth the read! I loved how the main character contemplates whether loving anyone is worth it. I also loved the structure of the novel, we get to travel back through time and through all their lives and see all the places they’ve lived. It’s not spicy, but there is a lot of romantic tension and forbidden love making for an entertaining read.

I really don't know how to start with this book. I was really excited to read it, and I was so lucky to get my hands on both the eARC and the audiobook, which made it easier for me to get into this story (I'm a huge fan of mixing audiobook and ebook, because I don't have to stop when I have things to physically do...). And I really enjoyed the narration, it really helped me get back into the book when I had to stop, or when I was taken out of the story by the time jumps.
I think I'm struggling because I was so excited for this book, and it sadly didn't live up to what I had created in my mind. And I think the main issue for me was that the timeline was not linear, and we jump back and forth between the present and the past lives. And while I think it is a really intriguing and beautiful story, I found myself struggling with staying into the story. It is a me thing, I personally prefer to get lost into a story and the back and forth in the timeline makes it harder to get lost in the flow.
Other than that, I think it was still a lovely story, I did wish we saw more of the love between Evelyn and Arden, because it felt like we were more told than show their love story throughout their many lives. I do think that many readers will love this book, especially if you don't struggle like me with non-chronological books. And I will definitely

"I love you...And I have loved you. And I will love you."
If this cold dead heart could feel, I would be crying. I absolutely loved this book. It was one of the sweetest YA romances I have read in a while.
Arden and Evelyn are fated to love each other and kill each other in every lifetime. Arden knows why but Evelyn is in the dark. They are never allowed to make it to their 18th birthday. Now, in Evelyn's current timeline, she has a sister who needs her bone marrow to save her life. So Evelyn has to convince Arden to let her live long enough to do that and try to escape her fate.
I cannot imagine the research involved in the writing of this book. There are various flashbacks and all are set in different time periods and different countries. Sometimes I would be so absorbed into the current timeline I would get frustrated when I saw the next chapter was in the past. However, she always made the chapters set in the past so interesting that I would immediately change my mind. I saw some critiques that it was repetitive but I disagree since it was always a different time and place.
I thought the romance was written very well. I could feel Evelyn's frustration in loving someone that she knew was going to hurt her. She has been tethered to him for 1000s of year so she cannot help but feel comfort in him.
I really enjoyed this and would definitely read more work by this author. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest opinion.

This book was truly fascinating! I was on the edge of my seat the entire read. It follows a story of two soulmates destined to kill each other in each lifetime before they turn 18.
A story of love, longing, and heartache. The author did a great job capturing the attention of the reader the whole way through.

I powered through this book in 2 days. It is such a beautiful story. I love the flashbacks to the past lives. I enjoyed the mystery of why Evelyn had to die before her 18th birthday. This story is one I will think of in the future and will be recommending it.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing the ARC.
The premise of this book is so interesting and I felt like Laura Steven executed it amazingly well for how complicated a reincarnation story could get. I loved the characters and their stories, as well as the exploration of gender fluidity as Evelyn and Arden are reincarnated over and over. You get these amazing snippets from their past lives and see how much they loved each other while also being each other's tormenters.
The prose in this book is beautiful and evocative. It grabbed me immediately and I was drawn into this amazing story. If you're like me who cries at the drop of a hat, you'll want to bring tissues.

(around 4.75🌟 for the thing I’ll explain in my review ) but ♾️🌟 in my heart!the writing was beautiful and lyrical and I loved the couple so so much. I felt like I shared traits with both of them and it made my heart ache. the story was so emotional and had me feeling like someone was repeatedly stabbing me tbh. The way that they talked about certain subjects and the bodies they ended up in was so cool. I really enjoyed. the reason why it’s not 5 🌟 for me is because I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and felt a little anticlimactic in comparison to all the build up. I did love seeing the origin story and somewhat bittersweet ending. I will definitely be reading more books by this author!

I'm not typically drawn to love stories with such young characters, but this book was well paced, interesting and had a narrative that kept me guessing. It's going to do well.
