I was really excited to read this book - as I had seen it multiple times on booktok!

The story is around Arden and Evelyn and their journey through 1000 years of different lifelines. Their lives and fates are tied together, but they must kill each other once they near their 18th birthday. Evelyn doesn’t remember why they need to die, and lives all her lives being hunted by Arden. The book tells the story of their current lives, two teenagers in Wales, while showing glimpses of their past lives around the world.

While the story is well written.. I found it hard to connect with the characters and we don’t know that much about their story besides the fact that they love each other, but must kill each other? I don’t find myself rooting for either characters or their love.

I think the author tries to show too many perspectives of their past lives, and how it doesn’t matter what body or form they’re in, their love is true and to the soul. I didn’t find that this helped build the audience’s connection to the characters. If anything, it just draaaaags the story out.

I also thought this was going to be more fantasy like - given the premise of the story, but aside from their reincarnation, there doesn’t seem to be any other fantasy aspects to the story. They’re reincarnated into different bodies in different countries all over the world. There’s a lot of cultural features of the places they’re reincarnated to, but I find that it just really muddies the story.

Also - I know that this is YA but I find it crazy that Evelyn said that in the 1000 years of being together, they never had sex.

I had a lot more hope for this book, but I just don’t think it’s got quite a hook on the audience. It’s actually kind of boring and uneventful.

“To be human was to love and love and love, knowing it could only end in tragedy?”

Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I absolutely loved it!

Evelyn and Arden’s story completely captivated me. The idea that they loved each other for thousands of years, despite the heartbreak and tragic outcome every time, was both beautiful and devastating. The dual timelines, weaving between past and present, felt so magical—each glimpse into their past lives added depth and helped me understand how everything came to be.

The concept of finding your soulmate in every lifetime is so romantic and special, and Laura Steven captured it beautifully. At times, it reminded me of Divine Rivals, though the stories are entirely different.

This book made me feel so much, and I know I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, for an e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 ⭐️

I absolutely adored this book! The story was engrossing, and structure of going back and forth further into the characters’ past was so well done and really drove the narrative. It was so hard to put down - I had to keep reading in order to find out more of the mystery behind the plot. I especially loved the author’s writing style and how it evoked so much emotion.

‘Our Infinite Fates’ is highly recommended for those who loved ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’. Read if you enjoy:

🖤 Heartrending (but still swoony) romance
🖤 Atmospheric writing
🖤 Dual timelines
🖤 Plot twists

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in advance - I can’t wait to nab my trophy shelf copy!

the concept of this one immediately had me hooked and the execution was fantastic. it gave me really similar vibes to "this is how you lose the time war" (another five star read for me) in the sense that the story is constantly playing out across time and space in a way that creates such a fantastic thread of story. i loved the exploration of what it means to love someone by their soul rather than by their physical form, and the ending of this absolutely wrecked me in the best sort of way.

How could I possibly articulate how much I loved this book?

First off, the writing is so incredibly gorgeous. I highlighted passage after passage throughout this book of just the most beautiful, poetic writing about love and loss and family. And speaking of poetic, there are snippets of poems written by one of the characters interspersed throughout, and these aren't just silly asides, but rather some of the most beautiful bits of poetry I've ever read. The ability for the author to embody her characters so much that she can write such devastatingly beautiful poetry perfectly capturing their situation is incredible.

This book is for the deeply hopeless romantics, anyone obsessed with the idea of soulmates, who yearn for a love so big it transcends time and space and life and death. For those who have experienced deep, painful heartbreak, yet soldier on with open arms ready to love again.

I heard this book described as "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" meets "This is How You Lose the Time War" and I can't imagine a more perfect comparison. The tragic loneliness of Addie, with meaningful glimpses into history spanning centuries. The cat-and-mouse game, the profound declarations of love through writing, and the hurtling towards an inevitably tragic end from Time War.

Me to this book: I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you.

What a fun short read! I finished this in a day and had a good time. I was kept wondering the why just as much as the main character and when I did find out, it was nothing at all like I had expected. That was a really nice surprise as it did feel fresh. However, what would have bumped this rating up was it felt rushed. There was definitely room to expand on that ending once we figured out the why. I love that this is a standalone, but the pacing threw me off. The alternate chapters was mostly the format with past life memories/stories and what was happening in current time, but it didn't always follow that. All in all, I did like this book and am excited to see what other people think~

This to me this felt like a mix of ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LeRue’ and ‘Everything, Everywhere all at once’. In short, I loved it. The vibes are vibing with this one!

Two souls tethered are destined to find each other life after life and fall in love, oh and also kill each other before they turn 18 because something terrible will happen if they don’t. I mean … Come on, you had me at hello.

I loved getting to know the characters in their ever changing physical forms and trying to unravel the mystery of how they ended up in this situation and what the heck happens when they turn 18 if they don’t kill each other. It was hard to put this down, I read more than half of it the first day.

Our Infinite Fates; such a beautiful story. Two souls bond together, indescribably in love yet destined to an eternity to be the death of one of another. This is the type of story that puts your heart in your stomach as you learn more about Evelyn and Arden’s origins. The writing is so poetic and memorizing. I wish I could read it all over again for the first time.

Thank you to the publisher for a free Netgalley.

Oh my heart. This book. Evelyn and Arden. Arden and Evelyn. Their story was just an emotional gut punch over and over.

We know their fates are intertwined, but we do not know how. FLipping between present day and then slowly making our way back through time so we eventually find out how it all started.

So well done. I am writing this review less than 12 hours after finishing the book, and I will probably have to come back and edit to be able to put into words how wonderful this book was.

"I love you. I have loved you. I will love you."

This book was incredible and beautiful. The writing itself is captivating and so beautiful. The actual plot was heartbreaking but I could not put it down. I hope it gets all the recognition it deserves.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning! I absolutely loved the time jumps and the diverse locations the characters visited. The story was incredibly unique, and it was a refreshing change to read something entirely different. Evelyn and Arden’s journeys were each distinct yet shared the same core character traits, which was executed flawlessly.

Around the 80% mark, there was a twist that I didn’t anticipate, and I didn’t particularly enjoy the direction it took the storyline. However, I believe that everything ultimately turned out well and concluded the storyline exceptionally well. If the plot had taken a different turn, I would have definitely given it a 5-star rating.

Thank you to St. Martins Press for my ARC that was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this story! It was emotional and raw and sweet and heartwarming and GAHHH so flipping good. The plot was unique, and the twist I never saw coming. I highly recommend going in blind, not reading through spoilers.

The writing was absolutely beautiful and every page engaging. I couldn't put it down! I don't want to say much because I don't want to spoil anything. If you like fantasy romance that's emotional and has great characters and plot, you'll love this.

Steven's newest novel is told from the point of view from a young person who is killed by the same person before their eighteenth birthday, before being reincarnated and starting the cycle again. Their killer is also the person they love. But in this life, they are desperate to survive just long enough to donate their stem cells to their sister dying of cancer, so they try to put off their fate somehow. While the writing could get a bit repetitive, the plot was propulsive as we flashed between modern day and the past lives the pair had lead around the world. I was surprised by the revelation of why they kill/die before the eighteenth birthday. This book has echoes of VE Schwab's Addie LaRue and How to Lose the Time War, while also feeling quite original.

Thanks to the NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review. I was incredibly intrigued by the premise of this book, but I thought the execution was lacking. The story moved incredibly slowly and I never once believed, until the very very end, that the two main characters had loved each other for 1000 years.

This book was devastating and so, so beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that broke my heart so many times. I honestly can’t believe this is YA—are we even allowed to put young adults through this level of emotional devastation? The writing was absolutely stunning, so lyrical and immersive, and I highlighted so many lines. I was completely lost in this story, and the love between these characters felt so deep, so all-consuming, so real.

I debated between four and five stars because this book was painful to read, but it left a mark on my soul. I devoured it, cried multiple times, and felt so many emotions. The premise was so unique, and I was fully immersed in the way their souls kept finding each other over and over again. What ultimately solidified my five-star rating was just how beautifully written it was.

My only small critique is that the pacing sometimes felt a little slow, especially when jumping between the present day and past lives. The dual timeline structure occasionally took me out of the story, but that’s more of a personal preference than a flaw in the book itself. However, the way it explored love across lifetimes was incredible. No matter their race, gender, or background in each life, their souls always found each other, and their love remained just as strong.

I truly can’t say enough good things about this book. It was one of the best I’ve read in a long time—completely magnificent. Just be prepared for heartbreak, but absolutely pick this one up. I’ve never read anything like it.

4.5 ⭐️ Rounded up

Wow! What a unique and beautiful story! I honestly can say that I haven’t ever read a story like this before and absolutely loved it! The past and present story telling along with the mystery and fantasy aspects definitely brought this story together and made it so much fun to read!

I absolutely loved the characters! You could feel the love each character had throughout the story and the tension of what is going to happen next kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved that once I finished the book; it left me wondering and questioning what would I do in their situation? What are the limits I had for love? How blindly would I follow the person I love? It’s always a unique situation where even though you finish a book, it still creeps up on you with questions like these and makes you remember how good the book was.

You’ll enjoy this book if you like:
•Reincarnation
•Past/Present story telling
•Real World Mixed with Fantasy
•LGBTQIA+ Representation
•Strong Family Ties

I’d like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. The premise caught me immediately and I was super compelled to read about this love story.

The writing it beautifully done and engaging. I love a good nonlinear timeline and this definitely added layers to Evelyn and Ardens story. I normally can call plot twists in YA novels but I was pleasantly surprised by the one presented in this novel.

Very much Addie LaRue and Erin Morgenstern vibes, especially with the lyrical prose.

“I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you.”
They've loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They've killed each other in every one.

I devoured this book in 24 hours. I didn’t know a book could cause me so much heartache. Especially one that is marketed as YA. I took a day before writing this review because I wanted to marinate in my thoughts about the book. Can confirm this is still SIX STARS. Without a doubt.

This book follows the souls of Evelyn and Arden who are fated to be together. Through each life, they never live past 18 years before they are killed. This story is a nonlinear timeline, showing us her present life in Wales, with many flashbacks to previous lives through the thousand years her soul has been alive, always fated to find Arden’s soul. In present Wales, Evelyn needs to live past 18 to provide her sister with a bone marrow transplant. It is a race against time, trying to outsmart Arden in the race against the timer on their souls.

The writing was absolutely beautiful, lyrical at times, and I have never highlighted a book as much as I did reading Our Infinite Fates. This felt like a heartbreaking historical fantasy romance all rolled into one. As we view their previous lives, their souls never take the same characteristics. They are not limited to one sex, gender, race, or sexuality. This made their love even more beautiful.

The ending quite honestly blew my mind. I love a good plot twist and that one completely broke me.

It is compared to be a mixture of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and This is How You Lose The Time War. I have only read Addie LaRue, but can confirm that was a fantastic comparison. If you loved that novel, I know you with also love Our Infinite Fates. I will be telling everyone I know to read this novel.

Side Note: I normally do not enjoy YA novels. But this novel was beautiful, thoughtful, and heartbreaking. Highly, highly recommend even if YA is not your usual genre.
