“The cruelest fate the gods and stars had ever written: the person I loved most in the world was the person who would ultimately destroy me.”
saudade - a kind of longing, a nostalgia, a sense of incompleteness, not just romantic but existential, rooted in the very fabric of our people.
“the whole world a backdrop for our doomed love, for our infinite fates.”
this book. THIS. BOOK. oh gosh this review is gonna be a long one; i loved every second of this book. it was so beautifully heart wrenching and those type of books always find a place in my heart.
before i read this, i’d see the authors posts every now and then and would think, ‘wow this sounds like it’s gonna hurt!’ and oh did it hurt in such a beautiful way. the plot of this is so utterly gripping and impossible to put down.
we follow our main character, evelyn, who pretty much knows and much as we do! finding things out as we read along gives that feeling of want to keep turning the pages and i loved every second of it! the questions, the theories; having a book pull these thoughts out of my head is one of my favorite things about being a reader!! i was so utterly immersed in this story and couldn’t wait to reach the end while at the same time, i didn’t want it to end!!! it was such a lovely reading experience <3

When you find you get killed by your love in every life, it definitely piques anyone's interest to identify why behind this killings? But the author again manages it to be so romantic and now that Evelyn wants to survive this life to help her sister but is it really in her hands? I liked their lives in each reincarnation and how interesting each times are as well. Amazing concept and totally poetic!

Might be my new favorite book? This was EVERYTHING i wanted and more. Devastatingly romantic, so many fascinating settings and time periods, a story that kept me guessing until the very end. Truly, obsessed!

You will like Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven if you enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. It is a similar realm of storyline. This book was enjoyable. Evelyn is linked to some kind of supernatural being and she is murdered in each life before her 18th birthday. She likes her life now, so how will she stay?

From the moment I picked up this book I knew I was going to love it. The concept of this book was so unique and from the first chapter you are sucked in and intrigued by this beautiful story. I love books like these, with unique stories. Something different than we see everyday. Books like these are the ones that I can't put down even when I put them down. If I am not reading it, I am thinking of it.
But something that I loved more than the concept was the writing. Laura writing for this book was something magical, ethereal and poetical. The way how she described their love through the main character voice was so beautiful. There were so many contenders for the best quote for this book.
But after loving these two components of this book, I have decided to only give this book 4 stars for the reason that the plot needed more. The concept of this book was that they loved each other and found each other in each life, but it felt more like that was what I was told to believe that and not what I was shown. The more I read the more disappointed I got. Evelyn talked about how beautiful and transcendent their love for each other is, but I was not shown it. When I was supposed to be in love with their story and was just seeing red flags. Quoting from Evelyn in the book "I was trapped in an abuse cycle, suffering from Stockholm syndrome, romanticizing violence-none of it particularly flattering, nor particularly accurate." Reading this actually brought me hope, because I felt that the author was aware of the feeling she was provoking and then she would bring us back. But she tried and failed. It was heartbreaking to learn what actually happened but it didn't changed my heart or my mind. I think that if he would have shown just a drop of love, It would have made all the difference.
Overall, this was a good story with sad and beautiful moments. I can't wait to read other books by Laura Steven (I already have Silvercloak preordered). Thank you NetGalley an Wednesday books for an ARC of this book

Thank you Wednesday Books for sending me an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

I received Our Infinite Fates from NetGalley but I did not get a chance to read it before publishing. I try my hardest to get reviews in before publishing but life happens. I was so happy to see everyone enjoying it! What can I say about this book that hasn’t been said yet? I was immediately intrigued by the concept and the plot exceeded my expectations. I loved the flashbacks to the past. It created so much depth for the characters. I throughly enjoyed the reveal of their curse. It was unpredictable and tied everything together. As for the characters themselves, Evelyn and Arden are complex and frustrating and absolutely loveable. There are so many beautiful editions now, I can’t decide which one to buy for myself.
Thank you to NetGalley, Laura Steven, and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader copy.

Thank you to SMP and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
Romantasy is here to stay and I think this solidified Laura’s spot in that. I loved this one! I wish I had better words but I am trying to find them. It was that good. I can’t wait for book two!

This was such a unique and refreshing take on soul mates, I absolutely loved the concept. The writing was beautiful and poetic but the time jumps and flashbacks felt jumbled and took me out of the story.

I am absolutely obsessed with this book. It was
so sad, beautiful, tragic (yes like the Taylor swift song). I loved the gender fluidity and how the two main characters love for each other didn't discriminate based on what bodies they were reincarnated into. It made it all the more beautiful. The last chapter was a perfect wrap up to Evelyn and Arden's story.
Oh to be loved through the centuries and always have that invisible string leading you right to your soulmate.
I will add there were a few moments I got a little confused and had to go back and reread, but I believe that’s mostly due to the changing timelines, and changing of names. The prose is extremely beautiful, and everything has a deeper meaning.
I know this is technically YA, but honestly this should be read by everyone! It’s so entirely beautiful.

This book has delicate prose, and does not read as a YA - with the FMC being "technically" decades old if you add up the lives she's lived and remembered - it feels more new adult. I really enjoyed the atmospheric writing and the thought/details

I went in loving the premise of this book but unfortunately I was left wanting so much more. The execution just wasn’t there for me. The author’s writing is beautiful, and I loved seeing the characters experiencing so many different lives through the centuries. I just couldn’t connect with the plot and the romance. I don’t mind a slow paced book as long as there is something about the plot or characters keeping me engaged. I wanted to love it but I just couldn’t get there.

the premise of this book was so so good but it lost me somewhere in the middle.
I felt like this book was telling me why they were in love and it was just endless chapters of insta love but also not? The middle was too slow and the ending was too fast!
Overall the book was very well written and the constant time jumping was cool to see how the characters changed over time. The author did a great job of keeping me interested despite the slow pace.

I really enjoyed this book. I think the concept of two lovers fated to always kill each other before they turn 18 is so interesting. The first chapter grasped my attention immediately and I was hooked. I would have liked to get more world building. The last 10% of the book seemed kind of rushed, but I would've loved to see more of the world and more build up to the ending. I liked both of the main characters. Their story is romantic and tragic. Evelyn is a soft character and I think that is one of their strengths. I also liked how the author incorporated lgbtq themes in to the book.

The premise sounds so good and interesting for me, but unfortunately the twist was just not for me. I didn’t connect with live story and didn’t see enough acts of love to believe to their love story and being soulmates. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this early.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for an early copy!
This story was extremely emotional, and almost felt like a romance mixed with a thriller. The majority of the book is learning of these two souls’ relationship, and you are along for the journey across hundreds of years. This felt a little slow to me, but I am absolutely a person who prefers plot driven stories.
There is a HUGE plot twist of why this is happening to them, and I was actually shocked when I read it and didn’t guess the twist. The last chapter was beautiful and wrapped everything up well.

It was weird how much I liked this book, while at the same time not feeling very attached to the romance. Especially considering this was primarily a romance book. I liked the writing and plot and family aspect the most.

I really, really, really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately it just fell flat for me. The premise of the story is right up my alley, which is ultimately what kept me reading. The pacing was really weird and felt oddly too fast and as a result the characters never felt fully fleshed out.
----SPOILERS AHEAD----
The story bounces back and forth between past lives and current life set in Wales. The past lives all just felt copy paste change the setting/time and rinse and repeat the same quick story. Evelyn has a lovely life, is about to turn 18, oh no she dies, next chapter. It became just a predictable formula you could almost just skip the past chapters after reading just one or two.
As for Evelyn/Bran's current life in Wales, she's doing everything she can to donate bone marrow to save her sick sister. Despite this, the two almost never interact, and by the end her sister plot is almost fully forgotten. It really disappointed me as Evelyn's entire motivation to survive is supposedly to save her sister. In the final chapter you get a brief few paragraphs to suggest the sister did survive, but I was disappointed to say the least. For such a strong motivation to drive the story I'd expect more from their relationship.
I think the idea of this book was great, but in the end it wasn't executed well and just didn't work for me.
Finally, whoever designed the cover and deluxe edition of this book deserves a design award because it's STUNNING. I did buy a copy of it for my shelf just because it was simply too gorgeous to resist.
Many thanks to NetGallery for the E-Arc

Arden and Evelyn are star-crossed lovers destined to find and fall for each other in every lifetime, but with a tragic twist: Arden is doomed to kill Evelyn when she turns 18, trapping them in an endless, heartbreaking cycle.
This book is packed with tropes I typically adore—time loops, past-and-present narratives, and the bittersweet "right person, wrong time" theme. Yet, despite these elements, I struggled to fully immerse myself in the story. While I love stories that weave between timelines and explore the tension of doomed love, this one didn’t quite resonate with me as deeply as I’d hoped.
I longed to feel more connected to Arden and Evelyn’s relationship, but their chemistry and emotional depth fell short for me. I needed more palpable yearning and a stronger sense of what was truly at stake. The stakes felt unclear for too long, which made it harder to become fully invested in their tragic, timeless bond.

"I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you."
If you loved Addie LaRue, read this. PERIOD. The writing style is different, but still builds a mysterious world with those same emotion laden vibes that you hate to leave. The descriptive language is superb! It drew me deeper into the story and had me invested in their fates from the first chapter.
"The last thing they saw before the world blinked out was the red ribbon of fate still binding their wrists."
I honestly had no idea where the storyline was going, and the ending absolutely caught me unawares - openmouthed and repeating WHAT?! for a solid minute. None of my theories were even close to including what transpired, and I am not mad about it.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an e-arc of this book!
