This middle grade will engage young readers in thinking about the climate crisis, encouraging them to explore their own carbon footprint and consider how they can help.

Following two young girls in Tasmania, in a somewhat dystopian setting, separated by 70 years and completely different climates, one tree stands as their mailbox, allowing them to share what life is like in 2023 and 2093. There is some incredible symbolism around the tree, both how it grows and their friendship grows, as well as its loneliness and their feelings of being depressed and alone. While there are emotional moments, there is also a level of optimism and inspiration for changing the future. I would recommend this book for Middle Grade readers in the 9-12 range.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book.
