This was marketed as a hockey romance but I found myself wanting more hockey. This book was more time travel romance, I wouldn’t even really consider it a contemporary romance. I enjoyed the writing but this kind of book isn’t for me. I will check out more books by this author. It was a fast and easy read even though the story wasn’t for me.

I generally love a time-travel romance and this one was pretty cute. It was fairly well-written and the ending wrapped up all the questions I had. The characters were sweet, however some of the dialogue was pretty cringy and I cannot with Tucker's nickname for Lizzy. That made me genuinely uncomfortable.

This was a fun read! Hockey player Tuck Taylor crashes his car into a pond, and ends up 200 years in the past. The first person he meets is Lizzy Wooddash, who just happens to be best friends with Jane Austen, and needs a temporary husband. I wasn't sure how this book could end up happy, but it did!!

I feel so silly for not reading this sooner. It was honestly DELIGHTFUL. Silly, yes. Unserious, absolutely. But so charming and quirky in the best way.

- time travel
- opposites attract
- marriage of convenience
- spicy "teaching" moments
- open door

I don't read a lot of historical romances, so this seemed like the perfect blend for me of both historical and contemporary, and the combination was better than I could have imagined. I'm glad that the author didn't overcomplicate any of the time travel, because I think that would have taken away from this story. I could absolutely see this as a movie.

There was such a natural push and pull between Lizzy and Tuck because of their time differences. He is so used to the 21st century and so many small things he does make Lizzy blush but with intrigue!! Lizzy is inquisitive and open which makes her the perfect person for Tuck to have come across when he accidentally time traveled back to the 1800's. There are so many charming and naive aspects in a historical romance, especially when it comes to intimacy, as many women just weren't taught or familiar with their sexuality. That gave for so much natural tension between the two of them!! When Lizzy buys an instructional sex manual and asks Tuck to help her OMG and combined with only one room at the inn. Please.

It did feel like Tuck was just along for the ride in this story, vs Lizzy who goes through a ton of character development.

Ok if you turn off your brain completely and try not to think too hard about how the time travel works this was actually kind of fun. i did skip over a lot of the sex scenes because they went on and on and on like c'mon the sex cannot be so good we need a million pages worth of it at a time. so yeah - go in with absolutely no standards or expectations and it might be a fun little read lol

Firstly, I love this cover!

I absolutely love anything dealing with the Regency Era, and as soon as I heard about this time-travel and marriage of convenience romance, I just knew I needed to read it!

With humor, emotional depth, characters (and their relationships to one another!) whom truly jump right off of the page before your eyes, and interesting twists and turns, this book kept me reading into the early hours of the morning to see what was going to happen next and how everything would work out!

From the moment Tucker and Lizzy meet, there is instant chemistry and witty banter that jumps right off of the page, and their relationship continues to deepen and develop as the novel goes on. How can two people from different time periods be together? You will just have to read to find out!

I also love the Jane Austen references throughout, and that she is a character too!

I highly recommend this book! I can't wait to read what Ms Riley writes next!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Avon for the e-ARC of this novel, it is incredible! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This one was fun! I love a good retelling, especially when it has an interesting twist. It was a little silly and a little hokey, which is to be expected given the premise, but it was entertaining. If you're looking for a fun romance read that doesn't take itself too seriously, this might be the book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for this ARC!

Puck & Prejudice is the first book in the Regals Hockey series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Historical romance isn’t my go-to, but this sounded interesting. A hockey player from the 21st century who someone ends up back in 1812? And he meets a young woman who’s determined to help him, but she’s also very confused about everything he talks about.

Honestly, this was so cute and fun. Tucker and Lizzie had such hilarious conversations, especially the way Lizzie questioned everything Tucker mentioned. And he was trying to tell her without telling her because he didn’t want to disrupt the future.

I loved seeing them fall for each other and try to figure out how they could make a relationship work if he had to go back to his time.

This was my first book by Lia Riley, but it won’t be the last.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This one was even too homey for me and I like hokey (not to be confused with hockey, which the author clearly doesn’t know/care about.

Unironically one of my favorite books of the year. I honestly picked it up because I saw it getting hate for no reason online and thought it sounded like a blast. Spoiler: IT WAS. It was honestly so delightful and both characters were just so genuinely likeable that I was shipping them so hard. The ending is SO CUTE too ... I loved how they really put in the effort to make their relationship work.

I went into to this book not knowing anything but the title. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it! I felt that characters were relatable in both time periods and the "time travel" didn't seem too far fetched. I enjoyed the secondary characters and liked the relationships between all of the characters. I would recommend this to friends, and look forward to reading more by Lia Riley.

This was such a fun mash up of hockey romance, marriage of convenience, and time travel. Definitely a fun light humorous book to read if you're looking for a little pick me up one weekend!

This was a really cute story and such a fun premise! As someone who loves a good hockey romance and believes that a regency England setting makes everything better, this book was such a fun read!

The characters are likable and the plot is fun and makes sense (as much as any time travel story can!), the setting and imagery is wonderful, and I loved the humor tucked in throughout. You can’t really have a modern jock dropped into regency England without some silliness ensuing!

Thank you to the author and publisher as well as NetGalley for the free e-arc! I’m so grateful!

I love anything with time travel and I’m a huge hockey fan so I was very intrigued by this, also expecting just something potentially absurd - but it kept me entertained! The ending was a bit lack luster for me but the character chemistry otherwise was fun and it was nice getting a unique concept!

This was really cute! I went into this book expecting a ridiculous story (in the best way) that I would have a great time reading and this book delivered. The beginning is hilarious and watching Lizzy and Tucker meet was so much fun, especially when Jane is added to the mix. I admit the last half of this book lost me a little and I found myself bored by the end. The novelty had worn off and the hilarious fun of the first half was gone. I still enjoyed this story, but admit the I was a little disappointed when it finished.

If you're someone who takes Jane Austen and classic literature seriously, this DEFINITELY is not for you. The amount of enraged reviews I've seen floating around tells me you should approach this book with caution if you're an OG Jane Austen stan. But if you're looking for a fun palette cleanser, this is an entertaining option for sure!

This was underwhelming. I think I was expecting more out of the premise. It didn’t work for me but I can see this becoming a cult classic

I enjoyed this so much more than I expected to! I'm not super into period pieces or hockey, but the time-travel element was helpful in both regards. Tuck was so sweet, and I appreciated the little Jane Austen jokes (boiled potatoes!).

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I had such a good time reading this one! It was a fun mix of time travel sci-fi and Bridgerton Regency historical fiction. It was SPICY at times and I loved the romance between the characters. I felt like the ending really took away for me but I did enjoy that Lizzy didn’t compromise herself to accommodate for her man so that was kinda cool. I do have an immense amount of questions though because if Tuck’s body was still in his present time, how is that being addressed when Lizzy leaves England? And how does it work for them “commuting” together?.
I just can’t think of way that their body isn’t just hanging out in the pond. I do wish we got a little more hockey in this book as well since it was kind of marketed as a hockey romance with the cover art. It was still really fun and if you don’t try to rationalize it like I did, I think you could rate this one higher than I did.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers, Avon and Harper Voyager, for the opportunity to read this book.

I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars and greatly enjoyed this one. Lia Riley is a new to me author and I would read other books by this author, based on this book, in the future.

This book was a beautiful combination of magical realism, sports romance and regency romance (all of which are my favorite genres to read). It had a very unique concept and kept my engagement throughout the entire book because I could not wait to find out what happened next throughout each chapter. All of the Jane Austen references when they are in the regency time period are so fun and I love the storyline of her writing (and in turn, Lizzie’s writing) and how it was woven into this.

The spice was so good in this one and I love that Lizzie did not know anything about “adult relations” and he essentially taught her everything he knows. I also love that he taught her all about hockey and the time that he is from. The ending was so beautiful and perfect for this story.
