OMG!!! This is probably one of my favorite reads of the year!! I am a huge historical romance junky! Mixing this with a sci-fi aspect is just chefs kiss!! I loved the Jane Austen connection. I loved Lizzy’s convection and Tuck just being the sweetest man. I loved the humor between explaining the 21st century to someone from the 19th century. This book just ALL worked!!! I will be buying a physical copy because this will be a new comfort read for me!

The premise of this story, a professional hockey player going back in time and meeting Jane Austen's good friend Lizzy, is truly ridiculous. But I'm a sucker for a Pride and Prejudice retelling so I decided to give it a chance. And it was so fun! It is not a Pride and Prejudice retelling, just a time-traveling, slightly sporty regency romance with so many Jane Austen references. His reference to the excellent boiled potatoes killed me. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was surprising yet so satisfying. Overall, it was an excellent romance for anyone who doesn't care that much about the underlying plot making a ton of sense, as long as the characters are wonderful.

If you're a fan of Outlander and Bridgerton, you'll enjoy this book! It's a mix of the time travel and Regency Era romance we all know and love! This book was simply fun to read. It wasn't groundbreaking, but I was highly entertained and had a good time reading it, and sometimes that's all you need. Picking up on the Jane Austen nods, and the scenes when the future is being described just had me giggling. I loved how the characters were childfree and acknowledged that for their future, since it's rare in the romance genre! This is definitely a feel-good, easy read for your TBR.

A very unconventional Jane Austen spinoff, Puck and Prejudice features the author herself as well as her friends and muses. Oh, and a hockey player from modern times that finds himself in 1812. Tucker has an accident and wakes up in the English countryside in a different time, discovered by an attractive woman named Lizzy. She believes his wild tale and introduces him to her friends. Then a plot to satisfy her marriage happy mamma hatches and they decide to get married. This is the perfect solution for Lizzy, who wants her independence. They just have to figure out how to get Tuck back to the future.

I have always loved Jane Austen reimagining's, and this one was the most peculiar plot line I've read to date. This was a delightful read! Both main characters were highly likeable, and their personalities were expertly displayed through their capers and romance. It was funny in the right parts, and provides a little heat where appropriate! I devoured this book, and look forward to more from Lia Riley.

any books with a hockey man in immediately hooked, but then add time travel to the mix and i’m done for. like i loved the plot and it so worked!
little summary: tuck who’s a pro hockey player accidentally time travels to the regency era and jane austen and that’s where he meets lizzy, jane’s best friend. i would say the tropes are marriage of convenience with some insta love.
this book had me hooked for the first half and idk what it was but once they got married i just wasn’t as interested, but was curious how they were gonna end up together in the end.. (slight spoilers ahead) im glad they both didn’t give up on their own time and families.
i just wish more happened like it felt too insta lovey for me which i don’t like and tuck didn’t have much going for him except for his looks i guess.

If you enjoy hockey romance and books from the regency time period then this book is for you. Puck and prejudice was a book that was greatly unexpected and fun.

This follows Tuck who gets into a car accident then finds himself back in a different time period through time travel. Our main FMC Lizzy finds him and helps him acclimate to her world. They quickly find themselves in a predicament to help each other to help Tuck get back to the future and for Lizzy to fulfill her dreams.

I loved this book. I thought that it had a lot of things I really didn’t expect in a good way. I found myself finishing his quite quickly. For a girl who loved Pride and Prejudice growing up I also loved how her best friend was Jane Austen. That part and seeing how Lia thought that her personality would be was a good take and refreshing.

I never knew I needed a time travel hockey romance until I read this book!
Tucker was on medical leave from his career as an NHL goalie due to cancer... while driving, he swerved, ended up in a lake, and transported back into the 1800s, where he immediately met Lizzy.
Lizzy was bold, sweet, brave, and not what he expected a woman from 1800s to be like. She risked everything, including marrying him out of convenience that would highly benefit both of them.
Tucker and Lizzy didn't expect to fall for eachother, things get spicy, and they must choose what's more important to them... their love, or their dreams.
What I loved: the banter and sweetness of their love, how much they were willing to risk to protect each other.
The hilarious moments that had me almost in tears as well as an ending that I didn't see coming but absolutely loved!
Meeting Jane Austen in the 1800s as well?! Amazing! This book was well written, and I really enjoyed reading it!

This was too fun. I love the crossover of it all. It shouldn't work but it does?

Hot hockey player Tucker falls through time while visiting his sister to regency England. Yep! I said what I said.

I truly did enjoy this book. It had a few slow points here and there but overall kept my attention enough for me to read it pretty quickly. I don't know how the author came about this idea, because it was definitely my kind of book. The past and present was written out well and I enjoyed seeing the regency aspects mesh with the current times!

Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes and it's done so well here. Lizzy and Tucker both have a great solid relationship together and it brought laughs, quirkiness, and fun.

I can't wait to see what else Lia brings to the table in the future :)

OK y'all, so, literally EVERY SINGLE THING about Puck and Prejudice is appealing to me. Time travel romance? Yes please. Regency? I want it. HOCKEY? I'm SO IN. I almost thought someone was trolling me the first time I saw it, it's so perfect for me. And y'all. It's SO good. It's funny and sweet and has perfect vibes - such a great read, and I cannot wait to put it in a place of honor of my time travel shelf (or should I put it with the hockey books? historicals? I'll have to decide!).

I absolutely loved both Tuck and Lizzy from the moment each was introduced. Tuck is a goalie - SO perfect for the story as he spends his time observing people and thinking about his every move before doing anything. And I LOVED sassy Lizzy. She is smart, astute, and as soon as she accepts that Tuck is from the future, comes up with an absolutely brilliant plan. A marriage of convenience plot that makes Lizzy a respectable and wealthy widow and keeps Tuck safe while he's trying to get back home? It's got Outlander vibes all over it and I'm SO HERE FOR IT. We get a little bit of a slow burn as Tuck and Lizzy feel each other out, but also all the hot Regency spice you could want. x

I was a little bit worried about how this one was going to end with the circumstances involved in the time travel mechanics, but y'all, this book had just the best ending! Puck and Prejudice is funny and sweet, swoony and spicy, and I HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you are interested in any one of the various subgenres it fits in because it excels as an example of ALL of them.

PUCK & PREJUDICE by Lia Riley is even more charming than I expected it to be. I'm not much of a hockey romance girlie, but this isn't really a hockey romance book.

Tucker *is* a professional hockey player, visiting his sister in England. He runs off the road in a car accident and finds himself in 1812. (Think Outlander, but without all the violence.) Lizzy is an aspiring author with no interest in the marriage mart. Her friend Jane...Jane Austen...devises a plan to use Tuck to make Lizzy a widow and get him back to his own era. After a quick trip to Gretna Green, everything is going to plan...except they didn't mean to fall in love.

Often times in a historical romance, the heroine has distinctly modern sensibilities, which then put her at odds with the conventions of the time. This leans into that—of course the only man suitable for a woman who yearns for her own independence is a man from the future! Except that not even in the future are you guaranteed a man who will respect your autonomy, nor are things quite as rosy for women after 200 years as Lizzy would hope.

Neither of them can completely give up their life in their own time, and yet how can they deny their love for each other??

As a side note, if Tucker's sister doesn't go back in time and fall in love with Lizzy's cousin in the next book, I will consider myself cheated lol.

I really liked it! To begin, a time traveling hockey player regency romance, this is going to sell. It’s such a cute idea and throw in Jane Austen as a side character be still my heart! It was really fun, just a touch slow for my taste, and little too much of a slow burn for me. It’s a solid 3 stars for me, but I really think people are going to love it. I think mahbe could benefit with saying who was going to be which chapter also with the dual POV but third person gets a touch difficult. The good girl and tell me what you want, always wins :) the ending was so cute

DNF @ 25% - Could not follow the story and felt very confused during. I was very excited to try a story that I'm not use too, but this just wasn't for me. Thank you for letting me try a new story, but I am sad to say it wasn't for me.

The premise was super cute and I really wanted to love this one, but I was just not feeling a connection to the plot or the characters. It was going to slow for me.

I imagine revisiting this one at a later date and seeing how I feel about it then.

This book was a very decent read for me. I enjoyed the comparison between 1800's and modern day world. Really enjoyed reading the MMC explaining modern day gadgets and way of life to the FMC. However, it was a bit slow for me. I felt that the first 80% of the book was dragging. And the end happened very quickly in the last few chapters. But overall it was a pleasant read for me. Definitely pick it up if you like time travel with romance in it.

This was a fun and refreshing read. While I don't normally read historical/regency romances, I really enjoyed the time travel aspect and bringing the two era's together. It was fun watching the characters try to understand things from the other's time. The Heroine was funny, straightforward and smart as a whip. Unfortunately for her, she was a bit of an underdog. Being 27 and unmarried... such a blemish on her families name. It was 1812 after all. The Hero was an NHL star (out on medical leave.) He isn't arrogant or flashy. His energy has all been spent on healing and his sport. Being the best he can be. Never having time to really think about relationships. Being thrown into the past was strange enough, but the feelings he was having towards this woman whom, in a sense, saved him, was giving him doubts about his future. There is some supernatural elements (hello, time travel.) It's more on the magical/mythical side of things. There is also some sexual content, but nothing too graphic. Quite enjoyable characters (except for a couple bad apples.) Hard to put down. Alternating POVs.

Puck & Prejudice follows Tucker who is a hockey player that ends up falling into a river and being transported to 1812 England. There he meets Lizzy, a firecracker of a woman who is determined to help him find a way back to his time.
First off, shout out to Lia Riley for the dedication and acknowledgment to BTS. The one in the acknowledgement made me laugh super hard and I loved the one in the dedication.
I think this book would be a fantastic first read for someone who is looking to get into reading romances as this was such a fun twist on a time travel story. I really loved how this book had elements of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice in it. I also just love as someone who has degrees in English seeing the ongoing debate about literature and the nods to Jane Austen's novels in this book.
I thought Tuck and Lizzy were pretty fun to follow and I enjoyed my time while reading this book. I really loved how they complimented each other and I thought the solution at the end of this book was really clever and one I hadn't seen before. Could the characters had their depth a little more worked out? Yes but I still enjoyed following them and their story.
I did think the solution to their problems were a little easily solved but I still thoroughly enjoyed watching them go through pretty well known areas of England during this time.
This book was truly a love story to classic romance and it was a really fun book to read. This wasn't the most groundbreaking book I had ever read but it was one that I flew through and really enjoyed. I would definitely recommend picking this up and giving it a try.

I went into this story in trenches of my hockey romance obsession coming off of a Pride and Prejudice retelling as well. And this tickled both of those itches even though it features next to no actual hockey. Tuck is sidelined due to an illness and so is off for the season, he travels to England to see his little sister and on the way home after a night out, he swerves to avoid a kid in the road and lands into a pond and when he surfaces, he's met by Lizzy who is not quite a spinster but they are now in 1812. Armed with wit and charm and lots of green flags, Tuck and Lizzy are forced together by her scheming cousin Georgie and friend Jane into a sham marriage in order to figure out a way to get Tuck back to his time.

This is cute story with a smart forward thinking female, a walking green flag modern male, dual point of views, spicy scenes that make sense, forced proximity, only one bed in the inn, regency period, not so lovely family members, wonderful banter, a little side trip into the mind of Jane Austen, lovely Pride and Prejudice nods, a trip to Gretna Green, and some hilarious moments with a book.

Can recommend to those who like Pride and Prejudice vibes, but wanted a slightly different take, this has a HEA, but not the way I was expecting.

Puck & Prejudice was such a fun and short read! Lia Riley does a brilliant job merging the past and the present with Tuck and Lizzy. I cracked up laughing several times at Lizzy’s reactions to 2020s technology and lingo. It was fun to consider how someone from back then would react to something as simple as a cell phone!!

For a book under 300 pages, this book sucked me in. The plot of Tuck being sent back in time and meeting someone he could love is beautiful and compelling at the same time. His and Lizzy’s banter warmed my heart and I loved seeing them grow in their comfort with one another.

It was a really fun read and I am so glad I took a chance on a time-travel romance! It’s not one of my go-to tropes, but this book captured my heart and made me believe that somehow, Tuck and Lizzy could fit into each other’s worlds even with 200 years of history separating them.

This was literally so unserious and I loved every page. The way the writing style switches to match the character?? Genius.

I’m actually surprised how much I liked this. This was such an outrageous concept to me when I first heard about it, but in my opinion it was executed pretty well. I wish there was a little more character growth, but still a super fun time.
