This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I’m not a huge fan of contemporary romance, but I was super intrigued by the regency era time travel aspect of the book. Normally it’s a woman who goes back in time. So I really loved that it was a hockey player who hardly knows anything about Jane Austen. The hijinks ensued! I feel like hockey romance is a fairly new genre. This is my first one. I can see the appeal, lol. I’m obsessed with this book. I loved the ride and the plot. Tuck and Lizzy were so fun! I loved everything about them. The writing was great and it felt cozy without being a cozy book. I would definitely check out more books by this author.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys time travel regency books!

This was such a fun read!! This was mainly a regency romance, given that Tuck traveled back to 1812, but I absolutely loved it. Lizzy is a force to be reckoned with and from the moment you meet her you know exactly what she wants out of her life and you know that she’s the type of woman who will whole heartedly make sure she achieves it.
There were so many directions the book could take that would have been great and I’m so happy with how the book ended and with the development of everything between Lizzy and Tuck.

I guess this isn't really a "hockey romance," more like a Regency romance where the male lead happens to be a hockey player. (Which, honestly, is fair, because how are you supposed to write a hockey romance when the setting is 1812)

I requested the book on Netgalley because I thought it would be fun and an interesting take and I was right. There's a lot going on and I loved how confused Tuck was. Lizzy was also a fun character, and I like how her take-charge attitude existed before she was with Tuck, but flourished a bit more when they were together.

There were several directions this book could have taken and I would have been happy with any of them, and while I hadn't considered this direction, it was a pleasant surprise.

Have you ever wanted to read a book that transports you to the Regency period but with a modern twist? If so, this is the book for you! I absolutely loved the banter and adored the ending—this is definitely a book I’ll be thinking about for a long time!

Puck and Prejudice by Lia Riley is a story about a hockey player who somehow ends up in the 1800s where he meets a woman who aspires to be an author. The book follows his journey as he tries to find his way back home, where his sister awaits, and maybe even find love along the way.

This story captivated me in a way I haven't experienced in a long time. Lia Riley skillfully balances a realistic portrayal of Regency life, highlighting both its charm and struggles, while also drawing parallels to modern issues. Her beautiful writing and storytelling made this book truly stand out.

I truly enjoyed this adorable romance. The characters were individual and so much fun. The references to Austen and the various adaptations of her work were well done. I’m sure I missed some since it’s been some time since I read Pride & Prejudice. Occasionally cringey but definitely palatable.

DNF at 17% - I just cannot for the life of me get into this book. On it's surface, I should love it! I love sports/hockey romance, I love historical romance. But there's something that just isn't jiving with me right now and I've been reading it for well over a week. I may try this again via audio to see if that works better for me.

Hockey Himbo meets regal England spinster in a collision that I didn't know I needed until this book. This was a marriage of convince and true to history, their plan to return him to the modern time is smooshed when feelings become involved. Being a shorter novel with low spice or stakes, this is great for the hockey and Bridgeton fans of the world!

This would not be my normal pick and I fell in love with the book. I am obsessed with the characters and the story. I am putting this on the schedule for my book club and am looking forward to more books by this author.

This was the book I never knew I needed!!! I genuinely loved every single second. I laughed so hard and was cheesing the entire time reading it!!!! I loved this concept so much. And also the spice was HAWT. Wow. I need a hundred more books like this.

What a refreshing and interesting romance! Despite what people might think, this was a mash up I never knew I needed and was giving me all the good ‘Outlander’ feels, but reversed and with a regency flair. It appealed to my love of Jane Austen without missing the mark. Add in a charming hockey player of modern times paired with the witty, forward-thinking FMC and I’m sold. Aside from one *very cringey* nickname the MMC had for our heroine, the forced proximity and ‘teach me’ moments ran the show and the nods to Austen’s original works left me grinning. Overall a solid read I really enjoyed!

Puck and Prejudice was an interesting read for a romance book. The use of time travel and the theories are very interesting. Books like these often make my brain hurt because how does the events in this time really not mess with the future? There were some historical inaccuracies I feel like I am the only person who would address but I thought it was a fun read.

Lizzy and Tucker’s relationship is very cute throughout the story and the culture shock Tuck feels seems very relatable. It was super cheesy and I’m still not over the Jane Austen storyline.

Super cute and quick Romance. I’m a sucker for anything with time travel, so this was a must. It did not disappoint. I read it in two days. The MMc’s are lovable, their banter is fun and the spicy scenes are well written.

I am a huge Jane Austen fan and I love a good time travel romance, so I was really excited to read this one. I was not disappointed. Jane Austen is even a supporting character in this story.

Tucker Taylor is the star goalie of the Austin Regals, but while on medical leave he visits his sister in England and finds himself in 1812 in the presence of Lizzy Wooddash.. Lizzy wants nothing more than her independence, but in 1812 women didn’t have the luxury of making their own decisions unless they were widowed. So, of course Tuck and Lizzy decide to team up and help each other. They will get married and Lizzy will help Tuck return to his time. After he is gone, she will tell everyone he died a watery death and his body wasn’t found. They both get what they want….or so they think, This is a romance; we know how this is going to go.

This is a well written story that kept my attention from the beginning. I liked both of the main characters and was invested in how this relationship was going to work out. Tuck was just about perfect. He was supportive of Lizzy and her ambitions. And the letter he wrote her…..my heart fluttered, but I am not going to say more about that.

Read this one. You won’t be disappointed.

This was a great little time travel book. The hero is a cinnamon roll is the best ways. The characters have great chemistry. The title is somewhat misleading in that I first assumed it would be a Pride and Prejudice retelling but is was an original story set in the time period.

LOVED! This was such a fun book. I do not think that it will be for everyone. Is it absolutely ridiculous in its premise and execution? Absolutely! That being said, I ate this up. It definitely feels like one of those books that was written JUST for me. I can't wait for it to release in paperback so I can add it to my "forever faves" bookshelf.

I really enjoyed this read. Usually with time travel it is someone from the past coming to the future, so it was refreshing to see someone travel back to Jane Austen's time for a change. The chemistry between Tucker and Lizzy is easy to see, and the banter flowed well. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

THIS WAS SO FUN. I love love love time travel stories, and this was up there as one of my favorites. It was soo funny and endearing. I loved the characters and the plot line. Everything was soo well thought-out. I was afraid it would be hard to make this work, but the author meshed it together so well. Definitely recommend.

4 Stars – Wow, what a read. When I began Puck & Prejudice by Lia Riley, I couldn’t put it down. Riley has taken a 21st century hockey player, Tucker Taylor, and sent him back in time to 1812 to a spinster, Lizzy Wooddash, who is friends with Jane Austen. I’m not revealing a lot here, but I kept reading to see what would happen next. How was he going to get back to our time, how was he going to handle the society period rules and he didn’t even really know who Jane Austen was other than his sister liked to read her works!

At one point, Lizzy and Tucker are discussing the future and comparing it to her time frame. It’s sad to see Lizzy come to realize that even in 200 years, women aren’t paid equal to men, America hasn’t had a female president and even in sporting events female athletes aren’t paid equal and the events aren’t as well attended as the men’s. It was a thoughtful way of inserting that in the story. The story was such a page turner! I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5, as I wished it was longer.

As a fan of both hockey and Pride & Prejudice I figured I had to give this book a try.

I have always been afraid of reading hockey romances as I would probably pick apart all of the hockey. Thankfully I wasn’t doing that for this book. Tucker Taylor plays a goalie for an Austin pro team alongside actual NHL teams. The author making a note of goalies being weird was perfect 👌🏻 as most fans know goalies truly are weird. I was thrown off when a character from Berkeley said his team was “the mighty ducks” … why not San Jose? And as someone who lives near the Duck’s arena who even calls them that anymore 🤣 kidding aside it was great to see my team the Canucks being referenced. I thought the hockey aspect and mental game that goalies play was well done.

I thought the character Lizzy was very likable, and I enjoyed meeting her friends, including Jane herself. The quote about “what excellent boiled potatoes” had me giggling. I did find it very odd that Tucker didn’t even know her name from present day. I thought the romance was very sweet but was thrown off at Tucker’s pet names for Lizzy amidst the language of the 1800s.

Overall this was a fun, sometimes silly and sweet time travel sports romance that I throughly enjoyed.
