Tuck just got into a car accident. And somehow he woke up in the year 1812. Good thing Elizabeth was there to help him. With Tuck by her side, this could be the perfect plan to create her perfect widow life. A fake marriage is in order, and Tuck would be happy to help her too.

This book was too bizarre not to try. A hockey romance and a regency romance? I already love the complicated-ness of it all! And I'm not going to lie, I do like the sci-fi-ness of it all. For me, it checks out, and I actually figured out how the book might end.

Storywise, I really like how Tuck and Lizzie got close. It has a slow burn element to the point that I didn't notice that they started to like each other but so cute nonetheless. I like how they just understand each other, and they compliment each other as well.

The other characters are interesting as well. Though we get to meet them, we get to learn about them mostly by word of mouth from the main characters. However, huge props to Georgie and Jane.

Overall. good book. Nothing crazy amazing, but this was sweet and thoughtful.

A delightful blend of time travel, romance, and wit, this novel offers a unique twist on the marriage of convenience trope. Tucker, a modern-day hockey player, accidentally lands in Regency England and finds himself entangled with Lizzy, a headstrong woman determined to remain free from marriage. Their chemistry sizzles as they navigate historical norms and their growing feelings. The inclusion of literary figures like Jane Austen adds charm, and the balance between humor and heartfelt moments keeps readers hooked. A fun, swoon-worthy romance that plays with time and love in the most enchanting way!

I went into this book with zero expectations and yet I was both overwhelmed and underwhelmed with the story. For as goofy as it sounds, there are definitely sweet moments between Tucker and Lizzy. That being said it’s hard to write a story about a hockey player traveling back in time and falling in love with a regency era woman and make me believe that they are supposed to be each other’s soulmates. Overall, I liked this book. At times the pacing was choppy but if you are intrigued by the synopsis it is a book worth giving a try.

This has to be one of, if not THE, best concepts of romance releases in 2024. A professional hockey player finds himself in Georgian/Regency England, and enters into a marriage of convenience. Seriously, how fun is that? So many people, including myself, will absolutely devour this story. The characters are sweet, the situational irony makes for a wildly entertaining plot, and in a time when many romances feel like eerily similar variations of each other, Puck & Prejudice feels so FRESH and unique!

time travel, Jane Austen, and hockey?

sign me up! I came into this book initially hesitant once I realized the massive stewing pot that is this plot line, but I was quickly proven wrong. the banter is witty & hilarious, the marriage of convenience, and one bed b&b are just two parts of a fabulously fun read, I cannot wait to pick up a physical copy and read this once more once it is published! thank you for allowing me to read this as an arc reader!

Absolutely bonkers premise. I really enjoyed this book, the story was entertaining and the resolution was different and made sense for the world/characters. I'd definitely recommend this one to romance fans

Fun, cute, ridiculous, hockey himbo meets regency spinster

I love sports romances. I love Pride and Prejudice. I was very excited to read this. Unfortunately, I think it was too much in one book. While I enjoyed the premise, and the surprise of a character actually being Jane Austen, it was just a lot. I might give it a re-read before the pub date, to see if my feelings have changed.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I DNF’d at 21%. I love a sports romance and I like historical but I just couldn’t get into it. I had really high hopes for this book and it makes so sad I can’t make myself go back to it.

I really enjoyed this book! It did slow down at some points, but I overall had a good time reading it. I'm going to start out by saying that this is such an insane and weird idea for a book, and I would love to peek into Lia Riley's mind to see how she came up with it. That being said, it was definitely my brand of weird, and I had a great time with it. I think that the author did a pretty good job meshing the past and present in this! I also loved seeing Lizzy's friends, and especially meeting Jane Austen! I liked the author's writing style, and I loved the relationship between Tuck and Lizzy. Marriage of convenience is one of my favourite tropes, so I loved that as welll. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book if you like weird, fun, time-travel romances, and I can't wait to see what Lia Riley writes next! :)

She said time travel and romance, so I said sign me up. This is just a cute little book with a shocking satisfying ending. A nice little palate cleanse, some might say. Calling it a hockey romance is a bit of a stretch because most of the story is set in Regency era England, but the MMC, Tucker, is in fact a hockey player. When Tucker travels back in time and meets Lizzy, she proposes they marry so she can reap the benefits of being a widow when they figure out how to send him back.

My favorite part of this book was the Jane Austen references. Lizzy is close friends with Jane Austen who is working on Pride and Prejudice as this story unfolds. When the characters say something that is referenced in Pride and Prejudice, I giggled. When Tucker makes a comment on the excellent boiled potatoes, I was downright giddy.

If you are looking for a serious story about Jane Austen’s life and friends or for hockey to be a big part of this story, this one may not be for you. But if you are after an unserious good time, full send.

DNF @ 36%. Missed the mark for me, just felt a bit boring. I couldn’t get into it at all. The main characters seemed good enough but the romance just wasn’t there. I have read a lot of P&P remakes but this one just seemed boring. It might be my current mindset, coming from reading a lot of mysteries to coming to this and I would perhaps come back when the book is published.

3.5 🌟🌟🌟
🌶️🌶️/5

what to expect:
🌟 time travel
🌟 hockey (for a couple paragraphs
🌟 ONLY ONE BED BB
🌟marriage of convenience
🌟 star-crossed lovers

well well well...I truly have no idea how to rate this book because I had SO MUCH FUN reading it. The spice was spicy, the vibes were vibey, but the plot was...hole-y, I'm sorry to say. Like, I know a time traveling hockey/regency romance wasn't going to be foolproof...I just expected a little more in regards to her family dynamics/his sister/time travel logistics I guess. This also wasn't quite a hockey romance, it was more like "hot hockey player with huge hands falls into regency England and 🍆 and falls in love with Jane Austen's best friend." Which, once again, had a great time, haha. This book was so unserious and made me giggle so many times. The 🌶️ was GOOOOD.

Overall, would recommend, and may even read again.

Okay first and foremost I want to say thank you so much for allowing me to read this book! As my first ARC I was so excited when I got the email saying I was approved and I just appreciate this opportunity !

Now my review:
I always love a good sports romance but this one was not at all what I expected going in. I read the description and thought hmm this sounds interesting, it’s sports romance with a ✨twist✨ I’ve been a Jane Austen fan since P&P when I was about 8 so reading the title & then going off the description I was EXCITED !

This book was incredibly different than my everyday reads. I enjoyed the storyline. It was nice, fluffy, light & had me laughing at some scenes but what threw me off at first was that it was read in 3rd person. I’m used to dual povs or even just 1st person but I found out that 3rd person is very normal in these types of books. I still had enjoyable time while reading and found myself still wanting to know what’s next. One of my absolute favorite tropes in books are marriage of convenience and I didn’t expect to find that here but I did. I loved it. I also want to note that I loved the ending ! Yeah it was an HEA but it was real. Obviously you couldn’t make things work without some compromise and I just enjoyed the HEA the most.

Just for the entertainment & silliness of the book, that I actually enjoyed I rate this a 3 & 1/2 stars and will be recommending this once it comes out in November. 🫶🏻

I was so excited for this book, but sadly it's just fell a little flat. The dialogue was slightly cringe. Just wasn't my favorite.

The premise of this book is absolute chaos: hockey player time travels to regency England, meets Jane Austen and has a marriage of convenience with the woman who inspired Elizabeth Bennet. It sounds unhinged and it pretty much is, but it's also a lot of fun. If you've had a stressful week and want to escape and just let your brain coast for a bit, this is the perfect book. I think it can appeal to both those who love sports romances and those who maybe traditionally read historical romances but are looking to dip their toe into the water of contemporary romance.

Many thanks to Avon and Harper Voyage and Netgalley for the ARC.

Hockey meets Outlander meets marriage of convenience…what more could you ask for? Throw in Jane Austen and you have yourself “Puck and Prejudice”! Tuck and Lizzy are the perfect match made in time-traveler heaven. Lia did the “one-bed” trope justice!! Tuck and Lizzy complement one another so well. Tuck is such the ideal supportive book boyfriend, helping Lizzy gain confidence and showed her what real love looks like! I also really enjoyed the integration of Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” throughout! The spice is definitely there!!! Let’s just say our couple gives us a good look in the “mirror”! Overall, if you like sports romance and regency romance this crossover is spectacular!

First off… regency and a hockey(ish) trope. Two of my favorite things. Add time travel and I’m done for. Sign me up.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lizzy and Tuck throughout this story. The relationship they have is so sweet.

Now this is very much a simple easy read. Is it going to be a literary classic like Austen, absolutely not. Is it going to give me happy feels, yes! I never thought a story like this would work. But I was surprised at how well it all came together.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon. I received an eARC from the publisher but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Puck and Prejudice by Lia Riley is like Bridgerton and Icebreaker had a baby. imagine a modern day hockey player trading in his skates and jersey for a pair of Regency era stockings and a tailcoat, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a book you won’t want to put down. the story revolves around Tucker “Tuck” Taylor, a hockey player with a gentle soul who finds himself going from 2024 all the way back to 1812. Elizabeth “Lizzy” Wooddash comes across him in a pond and is determined to help him get home. what’s only way they can be seen together with out a chaperone in 1812? marriage of convenience of course! watching Tuck navigate a different era and try to fit in was so eye opening on how different everything actually is, and also how much is the same. the banter?? man oh man can Lizzy dish it out. the tension?? enough to melt all the ice in a hockey stadium. this book is so unserious that it’s such a breath of fresh air. it was so quick to read because there was no way in heck that i was putting it down for even a second. honestly, it was a 5 star read for me.

I needed a light and fluffy read and Puck and Prejudice was just what I needed.

Tucker finds himself in a bit of a predicament and ends up time traveling back to 1812. He has a modern day hockey player who was going through a tough time (health wise) and is taking a break from the ice. Lizzy is in need of a husband (hello. Duh. It’s 1812).

This wasn’t so much a hockey romance but a romance book with a hockey player. It was so much fun. The writing was easy to follow along with, even with it in third person. The author really knows how to be descriptive so you’re able to really envision what is happening in the story.

If you’re a fan of hockey and an Bridgerton then this read is for you.
