I nearly jumped when I saw the notification that DAW had approved my ARC request for this book! Even with the description alone, I can tell I will have an interesting journey with spaceship and galaxies

In How to Steal a Galaxy, our earth (Sol Earth) is dying, and our FMC, Ada is sort of mercenary code genius. The world building is astonishing. The large portion of the story placed in a charity event, which surprises me. I just wish for the story to expand more because this book felt like a short story rather than a novel.

“Inspiring indecency is something of a specialty of mine” Ada is clever cunning little devil. I love her. Ada knows her way to get things done. Rian’s obviously very grumpy, strict, but adorable. Only for Ada. Ah how I love their banter.

I am really looking forward for the next adventure, go author!!

after-note : OK SO, I just realized what a Novella means, and obviously I’m stupid. Let me rephrase, the story have lots of potential to be a novel with the world building. And a trilogy novella seems a waste of story. I would love this as a one packed novel. I would, in a heartbeat, buy this book. And I would love to be introduced in other characters.

This was an ending book. I enjoy the science fiction and science, fantasy aspect of it. The conflict between the characters was what sucked me in the most. I thought that the author did great character development, world development, overall storyline resolution. I enjoyed the ups and downs in the twist interns, but I found that the sense of family that the characters come to realize with themselves as where I really enjoyed the story going.

This is a great second installment in a fun and feisty sci-fi series. You should definitely pick up this series if you like heist movies, unreliable narrators who definitely aren’t telling you the whole truth, and romantic tension between characters who definitely want each other. It’s also a novella, which means it’s quick to get into the action!

I love the FMC, Ada. She’s hilarious and confident, and not afraid to play around a bit while she works. We also get a but more from the MMC, Rian, who at this point is shadowing Ada, convinced she’s up to no good (she is). Their banter is excellent, and is a great addition to the main storyline.

The main plot is just beginning to unfold, and we get a lot more layers in this installment. The world-building starts to gather speed, and I really loved hearing about some of Ada’s memories on (her very polluted version of) Earth. I love when authors build in information about technology and tech corporations in their worlds, and there’s a lot of it here!

This was such a fun ride, and provided a great heist style installment in this story. I’m almost sad I got to read this early, because now I have to wait so long for the next one! Thanks to NetGalley, DAW, and Beth Revis for the eARC!

How to Steal a Galaxy is the second book of a planned trilogy of science fiction romantic heists. It is a fast paced fun heist that captures the vibes of The Thomas Crown Affair and a hint of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Thank you to NetGalley and DAW for the opportunity to read and review this book which I am giving 4⭐️. I have to say I enjoyed this book much more than the first book in the series. This one focuses more on our two main characters, Ada and Rian, and the chemistry between them as they play a game of chess with each other at a luxurious elite event to announce plans to help save the original Earth.
I will definitely be recommending this book to my followers and have included the link to my TikTok post

How to Steal a Galaxy is the second installment of Revis' action filled Novella series, and this one moved at an even faster pace than the previous book. In fact the majority of the book took place over a period of a few hours. Novella one ended with Ada having to deceive Rian and run away with the plans for the Earth saving Nano-bots, and this story picks up from that ending. We know the reality behind the nano-bots now, how they are less saving and more exploiting, and now Ada has a new task, one that includes her cozying up to Rian again, something she isn't opposed to.

Ada is just as snarky and un-serious in this one. I loved her character in the first novella, but I was always aware that she was keeping something from me, whereas in this book we know her goals, have an idea what she is intending to do, and I think that allowed me to just enjoy her antics a little more. Seeing her and Rian back in action again was something I loved, their interactions are always just on the edge, they constantly seem like they are one look, one touch away from ripping each others clothes off, even when Rian suspects her of being at the Gala to steal something, and that just adds an extra level of enjoyment and tension to the story.

This story moved at a breakneck pace, thanks in large part to Revis' propulsive writing style, but also Ada's character herself. She isn't necessarily one for introspection, one for daydreaming and thinking about the good times... unless those good times include Rian. She's a woman on a mission and this helps propel the story along, meaning even the parts that aren't intrinsic to the overall story, and they are few and far between, never slow it down in anyway. It did get a tad repetitive in parts which annoyed me a little, especially in a novella where there is so little page time, but it only slightly took away from my overall enjoyment.

For a story that never really lets up on the pace, Revis still finds time to show the realities of her world, the depravity. Whether it be scheming billionaires looking at scamming people out of more money, or rebellion groups willing to sacrifice a child for their cause. The world building does take a slight back burner, but Revis still allows us to feel the danger, the need to return Sol Earth (our Earth) to what it was before, and even if we only get crumbs, they are enough for us to want Ada to succeed, adding a stronger emotional tie to the story and characters.

I didn't quite love this one as much as the first, maybe because of the lack of space, of danger, but I enjoyed it all the same and after that amazing ending, I can't wait to get my hands on the third installment.

This was enjoyable and a great follow up to the first book. Thank you to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A rousing success of a sequel to Full Speed to a Crash Landing. Ada Lamarr returns to pull a one-woman heist in the middle of an opulent museum gala and taunt government agent Rian White with her mere presence. This novella definitely carried the same beautiful prose as the first but allowed for an even deeper look into Ada's character and motivations as she gets philosophical in front of ancient mummies and NASA command desks. The expanded look into the political elements of everything going on around her made the first book's mini-mysteries bloom into world-expanding motivations for nearly every character introduced this time around. The third book can't come soon enough for this reader!

So much fun! It's like a spy versus spy in space with some attraction! It was a quick read, but the plot and characters were well developed! Highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC opportunity!

I love Ada, she's planned chaos with a heart of gold and is fantastic. Rian, we barely know and hopefully that changes in the final installment. This was a fun interlude after the first installment but generally felt quite short and incomplete. And the villain was barely a caricature of a well-known evil billionaire tech bro and I did not love that (I wanted more fiction than reality!)

This trilogy is billed as high octane and sexy. Installment one gave high octane, and this one amped up the sexy but is a sloooow burn.

After reading the first two of three installments this really feels like a 600 page book has been chopped into thirds (and each third is priced as a full story). I'm not not enjoying it, but for this reason alone I have a hard time recommending it.

I wish more sci-fi romance were like this. So much of that subgenre seems to be just straight-up alien porn for the sake of alien porn. And while I have no problem with that kind of book, it’s not really what I’m looking for. In general, for genre romance I want a fully formed genre story, actual plot and worldbuilding included, with a healthy romantic subplot and possibly a dash of smut, rather than mostly sex plus some feelings and maybe a side of plot. It feels like in sci-fi romance there’s a ton of the latter and not a lot of the former. (If you've got recommendations that fit the bill, send them my way!)

The Chaotic Orbits series, so far, is exactly what I’m looking for. Solid plot with plenty of twists, interesting worldbuilding, multifaceted characters, and strong romantic subplot. About the only thing I don’t like about it is the first-person narration, not because I don’t like first person narration but because I prefer to hear both people’s sides in a romance. But that’s not a dealbreaker for me. Still 5 stars and eagerly awaiting the conclusion.

How to Steal a Galaxy by Beth Revis is a wild romp of thievery (objects, intelligence, and hearts) and rebels. Ada is convinced to help the rebels she worked for previously to retrieve some intelligence on nanobots being used by the government to "help". Ada is thrilled to run into Rian at the gala where the government plans to inform the public of the use of these nanobots.

Beth Revis has written a sweet yet exciting space heist with characters who are complex yet relatable.

Revis is a must-buy for me!

Chaotic Orbits series, book 2, How to Steal a Galaxy. Good for the second go around, but not as great. Thank you to DAW and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a planned trilogy of space opera novellas and this one picks up right where the first ended. It does a good job of going over highlights and what's at stake, so if you wanted to hop in here, you could. Ada is a highly capable thief. Rian is part of a government agency and on her tail. There's a lot of tension between them; a classic game of cat and mouse. Ada is sent out to steal something from a charity event in a museum. Much like book one you're left wondering what the job actually is and how or if Ada will get the job done. It will keep you guessing like Ocean's Eleven but with a gang of one.

The classic Macguffin (or the thing she needs to steal) is not as strong in this one. She holds it close to the chest for too long and when it's revealed near the conclusion, it feels a bit anticlimactic. It's also lacking a bit of the "space" in this space opera. The museum setting with a bunch of rich people was not as enthralling to me as the ships, space suits, debris fields, protoplanets, and airlocks found in book one. In fact there's less action and trickery overall, which made for a less fun read. Still a good continuation and I will pick up the finale when it comes out!

*Additional review for eARC. There seemed to be what I felt were some editing issues. Details would be repeated for something mentioned not even a couple paragraphs before. If that's from moving sections around or writing in chunks, I'm not sure.

“How to Steal a Galaxy” is a hilarious museum heist meets interstellar spy thriller meets rom-com, and I enjoyed it so much. Revis uses the novella form so effectively to create a fast-paced, self-contained adventure that shows us so much about Ada and Rian as characters. The charismatic but secretly incompetent and evil tech trillionaire, the apathetic and self-serving government officials in the face of looming climate disaster are chillingly reminiscent of reality. If you’re looking for a supremely fun and punchy sci-fi read, this is it.

Incredible! I'll be counting down the days until I'm back with this crew! A rare second in the series that's as good as the first.

I'd like to thank Beth Revis for being such a fresh voice on my shelf. I sincerely want to read every single thing you published.

I gave the first book in the Chaotic Orbits series 5 stars. I've been patiently waiting to read the second book at the perfect timing. After a few disappointing reads I decided to pick this one up. It didn't start as strong at the first book in my opinion, but the ending was absolute perfection, as one would expect from this series.
Delicious, hilarious, refreshing, snarky, and heisty. I mean... whats not to love?
4.5 stars, I'm rounding out to 5 just because I love Beth Revis so frickin much.

This is second Novella in the Chaotic Orbits series. It attempts to continue the thrilling and imaginative space opera with romance and heist, but does not live up to the expectations as the first part.

Ada and Rian are back, in this heist story set in a high profile museum on a different planet. Their chemistry and the fun banter keeps the momentum going. They both are perfect enemy to lover embodiment. The gala happening at the Museum is a exact replica of Met Gala. It has celebrity quotient, red carpet, paparazzi drones, adding bit of fun and glamour to the story but nothing more.

This is dystopian series and is based in a universe where humans have destroyed Earth's environment and have, "found other planets and named them Earth too, distinguishing them by their sun." Environment safety and a bleak future is an underlying commentary, which is difficult to ignore. I appreciate author's choice and creativity to blend this message neatly with the party noise and romantic banter.

Series is going strong so far but yes, the first book was better than this one, keeping fingers crossed for the third one.

What an awesome second novella! I loved this even more than the first book. Fast-paced, excellent banter, and high stakes make this a read in one sitting type of story.

I am powerless to resist a trilogy of space heist novellas featuring a strait-laced government agent and a snarky wild-card thief. I have enjoyed every moment of the first two - I can't wait for the finale!

After the outer space ship shenanigans of the first book it's a little sad to be planet-bound for a sparkling evening of rich-person philanthropy, but Ada's sarcastic viewpoint of the gala keep the book moving quickly. The cat-and-mouse games of attraction and suspicion between Ada and Rian are tip-top, and I'm 100% on board Team Adian(?)

I didn't realize this was a sequel, but it was a quick read that featured a bit of everything! It was good enough t0 make me pick up the first book.

How to Steal a Galaxy is the second book in the Chaotic Orbits novella trilogy. I really love this book. It was such a fun sci fi heist story. In addition to the main story, there is also a romantic subplot which I adore. I love reading Ada and Rian's banter with each other, especially how sassy Ada can be. I highly recommend this series and can't wait to read the final book. Thanks to NetGalley and DAW for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'll post my review closer to the publication date.
