I wanted to like this book, but after over 200 pages, I'm still mostly just frustrated and bored. The story has potential, but the first person narration from a clueless and rather unsuccessful magic user who seems unlikely ever to progress in his abilities, combined with a rambling plot and odd pacing makes for a slog. As an ebook of over 1000 pages, it needs some editing to really be a successful fantasy book. Great title though.
