I liked the book. The plot is well written and intriguing with its hate-love, swapped identity and rags to riches tropes, and is full of banter and bickering, twists, action, danger and a few steamy love scenes.
It took me a while to warm up to Aimée’s character. She is a very strong, independent, goal-oriented personality, but was too rude, unfair and spoilt for me at first. Harrison has his flaws too, but I liked him from the start. Their relationship is a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions, tension and passion.
The book can be read as standalone. The story runs parallel to the first installment, therefore it is also possible to reverse the order if wished.
When her mother wants to send Aimée Thornton-Jones, the daughter of a rich American magnate, to England so that she can have a season in London and find an aristocratic husband, she is furious. Aimée has no intention to become the next Dollar Princess and marry, least of all a destitute English Lord, have children or lead a stifling life as a woman and member of high society. Her greatest wish is to work with her father and one day take over his company. But her father is also against her plans. Aimée therefore decides to swap identities with her cousin Evie Jenkins, who is to accompany her on the crossing to England as her companion and complete a secretarial internship in the European branch of her father's company in London. For Aimée, it is the best opportunity to learn more about the business and prove to her father that she is an excellent businesswoman. The only downside is that the London office is run by Harrison Stone, who, a favorite protégé of her father, she was jealous of all her life and therefore became her nemesis and competitor.
Harrison, the descendant of an English earl but raised in America, was still a boy when his parents died, leaving him alone, penniless and without the support of his English relatives, until Thomas Thornton found him and became his mentor and a kind of foster father to him.
Since then, Harrison has worked his way up in Thornton’s company and now heads the European branch of the company. He is close to achieving his life goals to become wealthy and independent when an important business deal suddenly falls through, the company is sabotaged and additionally he has to deal with his boss's headstrong, intelligent and sassy „niece“, to whom he feels irresistibly attracted...

I hate it when my expectations aren’t met and unfortunately, that was the case withThe Heiress Masquerade. The premise is solid: an American heiress shipped off to England for the season to catch herself an English Lord chooses instead to swap places with her cousin and instead work in her father’s London office learning the business. Sadly, while Aimee Thornton-Jones is described as highly intelligent and despite her speaking five languages fluently and understanding her father’s business, she also comes across as petulant and, at times, downright childish in her behaviour. I struggled to like her. On the other hand, Harrison Stone, head of the London office, is very easy to like and respect and it was his character that kept me reading when I really wanted to tell Aimee to grow up and stop being such a princess. The plot is reasonably well structured but the dialogue is all wrong for the period in which this book is set, another thing that annoyed me. Add to that some of the word selection was just plain wrong. For example,“... she didn’t seem overly congenial to the idea.” I think the author meant to say “... amenable to the idea.” In other places the sentence structure was just plain clunky. An example is “The man nodded to them, then pushed back his chair and headed straight for the door, his two other men hurrying after him, both glowering at Harrison.” Overall, from a RUBY winning author, I really expected a much better written story. That said, I did finish the book so there were obviously enough hooks to keep me going and perhaps this story will work better for other readers.

This was such an entertaining story! I did like the main characters of Aimee and Harrison. How Aimee thought it would work changing places with her quieter cousin, I don’t know. Aimee was much more outspokenly and used to ordering people about. She certainly wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted and that was to help run her father’s shipping empire. Harrison is a self made man and determined to get what he wants. Work dominates his thoughts so that he can achieve his goal. Although, Aimee and Harrison didn’t get on at first, the more they spend time together so their attraction grows. However, Harrison is determined not to love anyone due to his background and if Aimee does marry it will only be for love. There is a mystery to solve and some danger but this all added to my interest. This story move along at a good pace and I thoroughly enjoy it. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.75 stars. This was an entertaining romance story with a surprise twist. Think Bridgerton meets Prince and the Pauper.
A million-dollar heiress switches places with her illegitimate cousin so her cousin experiences high society while the heiress gets to work for her father's successful business empire. There were moments where the business talk disinterested me, or there were repetitive discussions over marriage, but overall the descriptions and commentary between characters was great.
The romance between Aimee and Harrison was enjoyable. Their banter was funny and yes, there are some spicy scenes. I also really like that we read from both Harrison's and Aimee's POV. Without spoiling anything, I really enjoyed the conflict/subplot towards the end of the book. It was very high-risk and I was fully absorbed by the situation.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing, NetGalley, and Maddison Michaels for the eARC. This is my honest review.

American heiress looking to make an impact in her father’s business while her father and mother are pushing for her to maintain the standard role of heiress. Princess meets unconventional Earl who doesn’t want to marry either.
The plot kept me intrigued throughout the entire story. Plot twist of additional family member was unexpected. Love story was well written. Loved the women empowerment!
Thank you to the author and publishers for offering me the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you @entangled_publishing for my complimentary copy. My thoughts are my own.
This was an enjoyable read with likable characters and all of the elements that make historical romances so much fun to read.
Aimee wants nothing more than to one day take control of her multi-millionaire father’s company. So when her parents send her, along with her cousin, to London with the hopes that she will snare an earl, Aimee jumps on the opportunity to swap identities with her cousin. Her cousin will attend the balls, wear the beautiful gowns, and meet lots of eligible bachelors (book 1 in this series) while Amy will go work at her father’s company. She hopes to prove to her father that she is quite capable of working in his business.
Aimee meets Harrison Stone on her first day in London and it doesn’t take long for them to butt heads. Both are quite stubborn! Meanwhile there is a dangerous scheme underhand to ruin the business. When the schemer takes note of Aimee’s true identity, Aimee is in immediate danger.
With a kidnapping plot, a murder, a dangerous rescue, a few stolen steamy moments, and a strong female main character, this one has a great storyline and it kept me engaged! I highly recommend this for lovers of historical romance.

Absolutely lovely read! I loved the first book (which is a companion to this book) and so I was excited to read this book about Aimee and Harrison. They are the epitome of enemies to lovers. From the moment they meet they butt heads. Of course the growing attraction between them is not so subtle and can’t be ignored.
Aimee really has a wake up call when she switches with her cousin Evie and takes on the role of trainee secretary so she can learn about her father’s company and prove to her father she has what it takes to be in the business profession. Aimee’s privilege does show (I totally get the whole sharing bath water ick) but I love how she is willing to put in the hard work and has a strong determination to prove herself. Harrison is a bit grumpy and doesn’t really have time to deal with his feelings toward her but finds the time anyways. They equally work together and fight but are actually really solid couple.
I really enjoyed the resolution to the conflict and the ending to super cute. Definitely excited for the next read which I assume is about Sam. I’m loving this series so far!

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Aimee Thornton-Jones is a New York heiress. She doesn’t want to be another “dollar princess“ like her mother wants. To ship her off to England to marry some lord. She begs her cousin to swap places with her. Aimee will work as a trainee at her father’s company and prove to everyone that she is better than any son.
Harrison Stone doesn’t know what to make of Aimee. She’s hiding something and she is reckless. He wants to fire her and kiss her. Dangerous combination. With the company under threat of sabotage, he is determined to find out who she is. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a historical, workplace romance then you’re going to love it.

This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this fresh and unique historical romance! This is book 2 in a series and I do feel like I was missing some things since I did not read book 1. But the chemistry, banter, and plot were all really well done and I still had an enjoyable time with this one.
Our heroine is an American who si sure her mother will ship off to England to find a suitable husband with her fortune, but she has no interest in that. Instead she wants to switch places with her cousin at her father's business and work.
Our hero is her father's protege and he is not too thrilled about our heroine coming into the business and putting her safety at risk.
They are at odds at first but soon enough end up working to uncover a mystery that may save her father's business.
I really enjoyed this for the most part, at times I did feel like the mystery took front stage and the romance was pushed to the background.
I received an ARC for review

Hot arguments, prickly banters and sparks flying every darn chapter! Gotta love this.
I am told the book one is better than this and I cannot imagine that. Because I have not read it, but I love this book. Aimee and Harrison are a constant contrary joy to read about, their banter ridiculously flirty and fiiiine. Perfect enemies to lovers where everyone is frustrated enough to pull the other one in kisses. And more.
Harrison is the down to business kinda Earl in waiting (lol loved that word). Handsome, driven but scared of losing a loved one.
He is going to get his majority in the company in Egland side , owned by none other than Aimee’s father in America.
Precisely for the reason even without seeing him ever Aimee hates the man who is like a son to her father. But she Wants to help run the company and nothing will stop her. So out, she goes to london and switches places with her cousin to learn about business in London office. Right where Harrison is the boss.
Oooh the sparksss :)
Add in Derringers, telegram takers, other secretaries, a German businessman, some caveman stuff, even a kidnapping, and it's a hell of an entertaining ride. Certainly going back to read book 1 and wait on Sam's story I hope that's book 😁
Thank you Entangled and Netgalley for thus great read!

Book two of Dollar Princess series
I couldn't finish, I tried but just couldn't make it past 81%. The female lead, Aimee, is so unlikeable that I'm not sure why anyone wants a thing to do with her. The opening scene is Aimee embarrassing her mother by being rude, loud and unkind. It's not just that she's from New York with brusque American ways, she's a horrible person. Brash, rude, too forward for 1890 - things were still Victorian in all aspects of life. She seems to have alienated everyone in her single-minded chase for her father's company. I suspect her cousin puts up with her because she was paid to, even though she said it wasn't. Her thoughts about the male lead are one thing but her conversations and actions were outrageous even for an independent, confident wanna-be businesswoman. I never connected with her and eventually didn't care enough to finish her story.
Harrison Stone may be competent running a European company branch but he doesn't have an ounce of tact. Unlikeable from the time we meet him. He's a bully pulling out threats of calling in bank loans, using blackmail, whatever it takes to get his way, not caring that everyone knows what he's doing. No tact or discretion. He speaks, acts, and treats women without any deference or regard. He also throws around the F word, which wasn't in everyday use by decent people in the late 19th century. He's awful to Aimee when he thinks she's Evie and worse when he knows she's Aimee. Dragging his messy personal life into a business deal is a huge mistake and I don't see how the plot was supposed to work.
I have read and liked other stories by this author so I was surprised by my dislike of the book. It's not a hit with me.

Entertaining, but the romance didn't feel quite right.

Many thanks to Entangled Media, NetGalley and Madison Michaels for the digital advanced readers copy .
I really enjoyed this story. It is a continuation of the first book in the Dollar Princess series, a Gilded Age/Victorian gender swapped Princes & Reimagining; where Dollar Princess Aimee is send to England to be introduced to high society and maybe marry a British aristocrat, while her poor cousin Evie, who grew up in England, is to join Aimee’s father company in London as a secretary. Book 1 followed Evie, and this book continues with Aimee’s side of the story. But both can be read as a standalone. Aimee is an heiress to a large shipping company and has big dreams of taking over the company from her father. This is 1890 and her dreams are considered unfathomable in society, but she has a plan that will prove her capabilities to her father. She decides to swap places with her cousin Evie, who will present herself as the heiress, while Aimee masquerades as a secretary. Unfortunately, Aimee is young, hotheaded and a bit immature. For someone who is to maintain a disguise as a demure secretary, she butts heads with her father’s secondhand man, Harrison Stone, the dashing American, who also happens to be an heir to a British earldom. I enjoyed the progression of the romance between them except when they both decided to act a fool in the third act. There is a fun side plot that involves a mystery and attempt of a murder and a missing a legitimate daughter. There are some expressions that are too modern for the gilded age, which corresponds with late Victorian England. This is a fun light read that I enjoyed a lot but would have loved more if the language was historically accurate 100% of the time.

I loved, loved Aimee! She was an amazing, headstrong, independent woman, and I loved it for her. I liked how she didn't back down when she knew she was right and was perfectly capable of protecting herself. I also admire her grit and strength in going after what she wanted.

I read the first book in the series, and I definitely prefer this. Aimee and Evie did a switcheroo. And both of them were completely opposite of each other. I liked that the author didn't compare both of them. I loved reading Aimee's book and her struggles. She took up a fake identity just so she could achieve her dream of inheriting her father's company.
👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼
I liked Harrison Stone too. He was a diligent and hardworking person. He was in denial about his emotions, but he deakth with that. His relationship with Aimee was 💯💯. I liked reading their arguments and witty banter.

Wow, this was really a gorgeous book! The perfect enemies to lovers with lots of funny banter, a touch of angst and two wonderful characters.
Aimee is a veritable force of nature! Maybe even too much for her own good, but I really loved her. She knows what she wants and doesn’t hesitate to act to get it.
Harrison is infuriatingly hot and surprisingly vulnerable. I really loved them together. The chemistry between the two is wonderful, sizzling, and sky high.
And I loved that the two books are a duet: they work well as standalones, but reading them both enhances the experience. And what about the Gilded Age vibes? So good! Lords against self-made men is always entertaining and I wish there were more books like this one!

When I started reading this historical romance, I kept thinking I had read it before. That was only because I had read the first book in the series, and for reasons that become obvious, they have to start at the same time. From the second chapter on, the two books are very different.
Our heroine is determined to learn her father's business against his wishes. She refuses to be the useless decoration that is expected of her. Our hero is a man who is working his way from nothing to being a very successful businessman. Nothing will get in his way. There are many lessons both our lead characters have to learn before life, which gives them what they need.
Excitement and adventure on each page.
Great fun.

“You just have to accept that I’m protective of certain things.”
“I don’t have to accept anything. And I’m not a thing. I’m a woman, in case you hadn’t noticed.”
Book 2 of the Dollar Princess series, “The Heiress Masquerade” by Maddison Michaels is an enjoyable historical romance that aims to blend the opulence of Bridgerton with the playful charm of The Princess Switch. The story follows Aimee Thorton-Jones, a spirited New York heiress determined to escape her mother’s plans of marrying her off to an English lord. Instead, she swaps places with her cousin and takes on the challenge of working in her father’s company, all while trying to keep her true identity hidden from Harrison Stone, her father’s formidable protégé whom she instantly dislikes … even if he does look like an Adonis.
With tropes such as enemies to lovers, forced proximity, he’s her boss, she’s a secret heiress, and she (surprisingly) falls (begrudgingly) first, there’s a lot to like about this book. Aimee’s determination to prove herself in a man’s world is both admirable and relatable, and the tension between her and Harrison—both romantic and otherwise—is well-executed. The sparks that fly between them as they clash and then begin to fall for each other are some of the best parts of the story. I also enjoyed the clever tie-in with book 1, “The Heiress Swap,” and fans of the series will appreciate seeing how Aimee’s story runs parallel to that of her cousin Evie.
That said, the pacing of the book left me wanting. Despite a couple of nice plot twists and some genuinely sweet moments, I found myself feeling like the story was still in its early stages, even two-thirds of the way through. The repetition of the same conflicts made it hard to feel like the characters (or at least one of them …) were truly growing until a sudden, somewhat unbelievable resolution near the end—though I adored what Harrison did for Aimee in Paris.
Overall, “The Heiress Masquerade” is a pleasant read with both old and new characters I’ve loved reading about, and I’m especially looking forward to seeing where Sam’s story goes in the next installment. If you enjoy historical romance with a mix of drama, intrigue, and a dash of corporate espionage, this one just might be worth your time.
Content warnings include death, threat of harm, kidnapping, child abandonment, and murder.

The Heiress Masquerade by Maddison Michaels is the second book in the Dollar Princess series. I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I typically do not like it when one of the characters is hiding who they are but I could not help but love Aimee. She wants so badly to take over her dad's company but cannot because she is a woman. She switches places with her cousin in order to intern at her dad's company in London. There she meets Harrison. I loved their first meeting :) There was great banter and chemistry. The author also did a great job with the mystery. I enjoyed how Aimee's skills were able to help with the mystery and the business.
I think my favorite thing about the book was Aimee and her desire to run her dad's company. That storyline was well done.
Romance is open door with a heat level of 2.
I would recommend The Heiress Masquerade.

This amazing historical regency romance is just what the doctor ordered to get me out of a slump! Having some of my favorite tropes of enemies to lovers, mistaken identity, a self made hero, a strong FMC, and a perfect blend of mystery and romance is a perfect storm to suck you in!
A New York heiress who does not want to become just another “dollar princess” and instead wants to run her father’s business. She is a spunky, intelligent FMC who is still loveable and enthralls everyone! If you love banter and off the charts chemistry you will love this book!

ARC Review of The Heiress Masquerade by Maddison Michaels
* * * * *
A thrilling and steamy historical romance featuring an independant woman with a crazy plan, and her new grumpy boss.
Aimee wanted nothing more than to assist in the faily business. However, in her father's eyes, it was all ballrooms not boardrooms for her.
So when her mother desires her to marry off to someone with a title and be the next Dollar Princess in booming London, Aimee hatches the plan to switch places with her cousin Evie. While Evie is sipping tea with high society, Aimee is working in her father's company under the order of Harrison.
Harrison who feels like this 'Evie' is not all that she appears.
Not matter though. Someone is trying to affect the business. Changing the numbers. Messing up an important deal. Hiring deadly hands to do the work for them.
Aimee and Harrison side by side keep digging, while keeping secrets of their own.
Fantastic read!
Aimee is a crazy independant woman, quite the feminist, and quick to pull out her little fire arm. She's not going to let anyone push her around for anything, and just loves to press Harrison's buttons. Harrison does not wish to fall in love after a great loss already, but Aimee/Evie constantly occupies his mind and what was banter and poking turns into passion. Danger escalates and so does the stakes to their relationship, making decisions neither of them planned. Loved their chemistry and how yelling can just turn into flirting.
I am now convinced to go and read the first book. There is no way I don't want to know Evie's events that were hinted in this read.
