Book 3 of the series that picks up 8 months after the last. Life has settled, there are more residents to the hidden community now and Casey is very pregnant. As it seems ideal right now the peace is shattered as a staff member is drugged and dragged into the forest, with a last minute save by another resident. The investigation gets started as a blizzard comes in and the town locks down from the whiteout conditions. Morning comes with a missing wife that not too many are worried about. That investigation is looking for her until they find her, then real mystery and plenty of suspense begins. Multip.e stories are moving at the same time and detective Casey along with Dalton and Anders have to figure what happened and who did it. Running concurrently with the attacks, Casey is another story with her pregnancy, not a typical one at that. Her mystery is only knowing her past and her injuries can lead to high risk carry and delivery. Just as all mysteries are coming together, everything explodes and their idealic little hidden town has some major loopholes and questions of just who vetted these people. Very suspenseful and well written. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this exciting read.

Another Winner in the Wild!
Armstrong returns to with the 2nd book in her Haven series, which carries on with many of the characters from her original Rockton series. The book is well written, with a new mystery for the intriguing location and set up. Haven is a hidden town in the Yukon, where people flee to escape from danger in their lives for a few years. Unlike Rockton, which often gave a very expensive refuge to criminals- Haven is a sanctuary for innocents. But if everyone in the new town is an innocent escaping from danger, who is attacking the women of Haven? Casey, an always unique character, is even more fun in this book because she is heavily pregnant and physically miserable. Her hormones often temper her common sense. I strongly recommend this book. I was given an advanced copy to read for free by Netgalley. This fact did not influence my review.

Hell's Bells are ringin' throughout this one.
It seems that I slid onto third base in Cold as Hell without even touching first and second base. Cold as Hell is the third book in the Haven's Rock Series. I've never read the two previous books. Now what drew me into this one was the fact that I've been previously gripped by Kelley Armstrong's time travel novels. Great author and great novels. Got my foot in the door........and walked totally in.
Without even previous experience, I landed in the sanctuary community of Haven's Rock set in the frozen terrain of the Yukon. Just know that this is a hidden town filled with people of questionable characters and natures who chose to live without the heavy impact of a larger society. It's filled with just 70 people who have set up daily living with designated jobs and initiatives willingly executed by these residents.
Now to keep law and order you need law and order. We'll meet Detective Casey Duncan and her husband, Sheriff Eric Dalton. You'll immediately take a liking to Casey. She's eight months pregnant and doesn't let her protruding stomach keep her from doing her job. I can just feel the analytical vibes coming off her.
Peace and tranquility is disrupted when one of the town's women is dragged into the forest, but she escapes her attacker. The next woman isn't so lucky. Her body is found in that same forest not too far from the town. It appears to be death by hypothermia. Casey and Eric believe it's murder. But how can that be when all town members have been vetted? A frozen chill up the spine shakes the realization that there's a killer among them.
It's probably advantageous to have read the first two books in this series. But like me, you can slide in now that you have a bit of background. Just the name Kelley Armstrong on the cover guarantees a mighty read. Plenty of action in this one and plenty of resounding applause. I'm locked in and can't wait for the next one in this series. Be sure to check it out.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. My thanks to Minotaur Books and to the talented Kelley Armstrong for the opportunity.

OMG! THIS IS MY NEW FAVOURITE SERIES😭 this new book in the havens rock series had me in suspense the whole book! Even when there was only a few pages left 😅 I honestly hope there is going to be more books for this series! I never want it to end 😭

Book #3 in the outstanding Rock Haven series. Rock Haven is a manufactured town in the Yukon built to offer safe haven to those persons hiding from circumstances beyond their control. Each person seeking haven is vetted before arrival and must work to earn their slot in the community. The town is off grid as far as you could get. There is a core group of personnel in place to keep the town safe and operating. COLD AS HELL could be read as a stand alone but you'd miss the history built into the first two books. This series is an off shoot of the Rockton series, also written by Kelley Armstrong. To get the full immersion, read the Rockton series and the two books in the Rock Haven series before this one. You won't be sorry.
Each resident of Rock Haven has under gone a background check and historical research to insure their request for haven is warranted. So when a woman is attacked after being lured into the surrounding forest, the list of suspects is obvious. When a second woman is attacked and killed, the investigation zeroes in quickly.
The core group in Rock Haven is comprised of the Sheriff, his wife, a deputy, several medical personnel, a miltia and other business operators. Each of this group has a back story that makes them three dimensional. They will quickly become family members as you follow their efforts to make their world a better place. Kelley Armstrong has 5 star writing skills that have earned her a dedicated fan club, no matter the genre she chooses to write. She is an auto read for me and has yet to let me down. I recommend her books to everyone I know and gift them often.

Cold as Hell by Kelley Armstrong, the latest Haven's Rock story continues the story of the sanctuary town hidden in the Yukon woods and the people who inhabit it. Casey and Eric, about to become parents, must solve the abduction and murder of one of the town's residents. Of course, this all takes place in the middle of a massive storm. As always, these stories are so well done that one can feel the isolation and cold of the country they take place in.

I absolutely LOVED The Rockton series by Kelley Armstrong and was thrilled when the after-Rockton series came out. I loved the previous two novels in this series and Cold as Hell was another wild ride that had me hooked from the beginning!
I loved following Casey and Eric on their Northern adventures in the wilderness in their new town and following them and several other belove characters. They are characters you love and love to read about, and there is always something going on in town. From murder, to kidnappings, this book has it all.
A definite must read that I highly recommend!

Casey Butler and Eric Dalton thought they had left behind the bad parts of Rockton when they created Haven's Rock, a refuge for folks who needed to get away from the world. Now, they have a very rich patron who agrees with their vision and has an investigator to assist them before sending folks up into the wild Yukon. But, sometimes not all eventualities can be planned. Someone is trying to kill women in residence; one woman was drugged and almost kidnapped; another is murdered and a third disappears. Meanwhile, Casey is eight months pregnant and Eric is frantic with worry over the baby. But Casey is nothing if not stalwart. She takes on the investigation and manages to save Yolanda before the killer can murder her. And then Casey is captured.... An adrenaline ride through the last few chapters! I like this series because of the characters and the setting, and, of course, the dog.

Cold as Hell by Kelley Armstrong is such a gripping read! The intense mystery and the way the setting comes alive really kept me hooked from start to finish.

This series is just falling flat. Feels like the story over and over. I read the Rockton series. I read the first couple in this series. I simply could not get interested in this one. I was bored with the last couple also. But, kept thinking it'll get better. They just didn't. As a library director, I recommended this series to many mystery readers. Unfortunately, they just aren't interesting anymore.

This review is my opinion and my opinion only. I love Kelley Armstrong’s writing. She knows how to pull you in, and you’re hooked.
This book is the continuation of the Haven’s Rock series. This series is a spinoff of the Rockton series(which I highly recommend). where we first met Eric and Casey. It’s about a hidden community in the Yukon. It takes in people who are in hiding. Casey and Eric run Haven’s Rock. Casey was a detective before coming to Rockton, and Eric grew up there.
In this book, Casey and Eric have to find who is drugging women and attacking. The first victim was Kendra, but she was able to get away with the help of Sebastian. Before long there was another attack, but this one ended in death. Casey and Eric try to find out who this person is, and how they got into Haven’s Rock. Because this place is suppose to be a sanctuary.
I did enjoy this book. I had a hard time putting it down. Kelley Armstrong is phenomenal at story telling.
It’s a highly recommend from me.

Kelly Armstrong raises the stakes again. I loved it! My only complaint was that the ending felt rushed and left me wanting more. But I appreciate that this is an ongoing series and can't wait to delve more into these imperfect characters in future books.
Much like Rockton, Haven's Rock is on the path to a death count that rivals Cabot Cove. Yet, the stakes are always high enough that I believe desperate people come to a town off the grid to escape.
Three books in, I thought a lot about how Rockton and Haven's Rock are different. Our main characters have more power here, and this is their ideal version of what Rockton could have been. The world has expanded, and by including families into this world, it feels less like an isolated prison compound and more like a remote town. I appreciate how the characters have grown here and would recommend both series, but for different reasons. At the moment, Haven's Rock is the more mystery of the week and Rockton leaned more into a thriller. I'm happy to keep reading the series.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press for this ARC.

This is the third book of the Haven's Rock series, a spinoff of the Rockton series. I've read every book to date of both series and highly recommend them. The author has a real touch for creating an air of menace in this isolated, dangerous environment where it is so easy to get lost, and getting lost can be lethal. Once the snow covers your footprints, it's difficult to find your way back, and if the cold doesn't kill you, the predators might.
Casey and her husband Eric are two of the founding members of Haven's Rock. Casey is pregnant, and she and Eric are nervous about it, but so far, she is doing well. Then some things happen that suggest that women may be targeted when they are outside the town. But who, among their carefully vetted group, could be doing this? I never guessed who the culprit was.
I received an e-ARC from publisher St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books via NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Cold as Hell is the third book in the Haven’s Rock series and it did not disappoint. Woman are being murdered in the middle of a raging winter storm and it’s up to Casey to solve the mystery while being ready to give birth. Great page turner that’s hard to put down

I can’t not get enough of this series.
Casey and Eric are back along with all there crew in this fabulous fast paced suspenseful drama. This story was full of shocking surprises and danger around every corner. The mystery just kept me guessing until the reveal. This is one of the best book’s I’ve read this year. If you haven’t tried this series yet you should jump right in.

Cold As Hell, A Haven's Rock Novel, by Kelley Armstrong
Cold As Hell is part of a spinoff series from Ms Armstrong's Rockton series. I loved the first series and am loving this spinoff.
Casey and Dalton have spearheaded a new sanctuary in the Yucan for those in desperate need. They are expecting their first baby and getting close to it's arrival when mayhem breaks out at Haven's Rock. A resident was drugged and attacked. But this isn't the old Rockton. Everyone here has been fully vetted. Can Casey solve the case before anyone else is hurt or she needs to deliver her baby? Some loopholes will be discovered and worked through in this novel. Loved it.

In Cold as Hell, a resident is found naked and frozen in the woods not far from town. Is hypothermia in play or something more sinister? If the later, who would be the culprit when the residents of the only real civilization for miles is thoroughly vetted? What do we really know about the people of Havens Rock? Casey and Dalton must try to uncover the newest mystery to hit their little town before another resident disappears or Casey has her baby.
Every Havens Rock book I read leaves me anxiously awaiting the next installment; as each book peels off layers to the town and shows us a little bit more about each of the residents mysterious characters. Cold as Hell gives us a glimpse at how fast the town is starting to move forward and shine a light on problems that our protagonists thought they had overcome and learned from Rockton. I feel this book jumped into the action very quickly and led us on twists, turns and dead ends of any great mystery. When the culprit is finally uncovered I was completely shook and the rest of the book was a heart-pounding race to finish. I feel like every time I had my footing in this novel it was pulled from underneath me, most especially in the last third of the story. If you love a good mystery and most especially if you have read the previous books in this series, this one you can’t miss.
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's press for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review

Wow. This series continues to get better and better. I was not sure how it would go after Rockton but this author has out done herself. This was fast paced with twists and turns. And what an ending. I’m looking forward to what is next.
I don’t do spoilers so I can’t go into too much but not only do the characters continue to grow and evolve but how they twisted this one was awesome.
This is a must read series! But start at the very beginning to get the full experience.

Well, here I am back in my happy place!
Despite hardships and murders, I can’t be the only reader who would be tempted to run away to Haven’s Rock, right?
Casey and Eric are back and this time the death hits way too close to home. Mix that with Casey’s pregnancy, all the difficulties of their remote town, and a lot of growing distrust in town, and you’ve got a thrilling and suspenseful addition to this series!
I enjoyed revisiting some of my favorite characters and was very, very concerned for some of them.
I do think this works better if you’re familiar with the series. I’m not sure how it works as a standalone and think I might have found myself a little confused by our town and its inhabitants. But, still, a very good read!

'Cold as Hell" by Kelly Armstrong is a captivating tale of self-discovery, weaving together themes of love, loss, and identity. The author's lyrical prose and well-developed characters drew me in from the start.
The story's pacing was well-balanced, with moments of tension and introspection.
Fans of Robyn Harding will enjoy this thought-provoking read. I highly recommend it for its relatable characters and poignant storytelling.
