I actually liked this book quite a bit. The story did seem a bit rushed at points, as well as character development. I've read plenty of books about mystical powers and family prophecies. Valencia (main character) is smart, determined, and strong-willed. Thankfully, she was well written and not such a hapless princess in distress. The love interest at first was quite refreshing and progressed naturally it seemed. I actually will be reading the rest of the series to see where else the story will lead.
