His Truth Her Truth is the unreliable narrator you NEED to read.

Split narrative pov between Beth & her fiancee Joe. When Beth's father dies she has to go back to her home town but Joe is unable to go with her due to work. As Beth drowns in her grief & alcohol she starts receiving silent phone calls & feels like she is being followed. When they are both found almost dead each with a knife in hand we need to know who's truth is actually the truth.

Both characters are unlikable & frustrating but it works well as you switch between them trying to work out who to believe.

I must say I struggled to get into this book! The chapters were short so that made it easier to get through. It's my first book by this author so I will give other books another go!

Fabulous premise - home invasion x 1, people with knives x 2 - who is telling the truth! If I am telling the truth, it fell a little short for me! Mainly because I could not warm to Beth! Couldn’t relate to her or even empathise!
That being said - I love a good duel POV book and I did find myself hurrying to finish! Not bad - but would have been better with a more likeable lead!

Thank you @Netgalley , @NoelleHolten @OneMoreChapter for the opportunity to read a review this book.
“His Truth, Her Truth” by Noelle Holden is a gripping, emotional rollercoaster that hooks you from the very first page. What begins with what appears to be a murder scene quickly unravels into a deeply layered story of love, loss, deception, and resilience. We’re taken back in time to meet Lisbeth (Beth), who returns home to care for her ailing father. His passing sends her into a downward spiral of grief and alcoholism. Through it all, her fiancé Joe remains steadfast—until a brutal attack leaves Beth hospitalized under suspicion and Joe in a coma that he ultimately doesn’t survive.

As Beth struggles to piece her life back together, she finds solace in a new friendship with Alison—but not everything is as it seems. The twists and turns keep coming, and just when you think you know the truth, Holden pulls the rug out from under you again. This psychological thriller is packed with emotional depth, complex characters, and a haunting look at how far people will go to protect—or destroy—the ones they love. An absolute must-read!”

I was so excited when I received this book to read!

There is so much mystery, and the characters are developed a tiny bit as the story goes on! I like it!

What I liked about the whole reading experience was the plot and the resolution…. Everything makes absolutely sense, and all the loose ends bend together.

Absolutely recommend this book for a thriller lover!

I liked how this book started. The back and forth narrative was great. But it ended so fast and abruptly I was wondering where the next page was. I thought the main character was losing her mind. That drinking was causing her to see things that weren’t there. I was hoping for that twist. The last chapter you find out who was behind it all and it felt like it was missing something. Everyone just moved on from this husband and wife fighting and the book was over.

His Truth Her Truth shows us how secrets and miscommunication can upset lives causing the ultimate penalty..

This was another one that wasn’t for me.

It started out with a bang. We have two people stabbed, each one holding a knife. Who exactly are they? What was their relationship like? Did they stab each other or is there something more nefarious going on? These are some of the things that run through your mind with the opening chapter. It’s an exciting opening with a lot of promise. Unfortunately, the rest of the book doesn’t live up to that promise.

Most of the rest of the book is basically a picture of the everyday life of two miserable and unlikable people and the dysfunction and breakdown of their marriage. One of the most frustrating things about this book was that a lot of what happened could have been prevented with some simple communication between Beth and Joe. Things start to pick up about halfway through, but by then it was hard to care about what happened to either one of them.

Beth was insufferable, even more so after the stabbings. The writing around her was a bit off and had me rolling my eyes in places. She doubts her ability to trust a particular person and then a couple of pages later Pete tells her to be careful trusting that same person and suddenly “desperation and disbelief are warring within her." Girl, what? You were just doubting that person yourself two pages ago. There was a good amount of this throughout the story.

For most of the book it also seemed like we were reading the story of Beth and Joe, but seemingly out of nowhere it became someone else's story. Here again was a situation where the reader has to suspend disbelief. A lot of what happened in the second half of the book was dependent on Beth picking Allison as her therapist, and out of all the options available to her she does. Surprise, surprise! Suspending disbelief to buy this would have been possible if not for all of the other moments in the story where we kind of have to shake our heads and just go with it.

The ending was also maddening. That's how we're ending things? Really? Really??

This one was just too messy for me.

Thanks NetGally and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for the advanced copy.

After the loss of her father, Beth turns to alcohol until she can no longer function without it. Suspended from her job, estranged from her mother and increasingly removed from her fiancé Joe she finds herself about to be charged with the attack that has left him in a coma.
This book is poorly written and repetitive. Beth is an unlikeable character, as is Joe. The story is unbelievable and dull and is not one I would recommend.

Who did it? You’ll have to read this compelling book to find out…. Anything that has two sides to it is a draw to me. So the title pulled me in.
This is thriller that tells the story of Joe and Beth who are both found with a knife. Now! Who did what. And why? You are going to love to hate Joe and Beth in the best way!
Great writing style and a brilliant ending!

The first part of this book was really slow but its needed to set up what was a fairly unputdownable second half of the book which is where everything hotted up.

I picked this book to read purely based on the author, as I've enjoyed her books in the past, and thus didn't really register the title, nor look at the blurb, which led to me reading a book featuring multiple unreliable narrators.

And frustratingly I'm just not keen on this level of unreliability, I was never really sure what I was meant to be believe, or what I should believe but what I did know is that I wasn't overly keen on Joe or Beth for different reasons.

Although I wasn't keen on them as people, they were very real and I could understand a lot of their feelings. Both had a fair bit of depth to them, and Beth in particular is on medication for many things, and the descriptions of her mental state were certainly interesting.

The more I got to know Beth, i did start to at least feel sorry for her, whereas I struggled to find redeeming features for Joe - he's not evil or anything, I just didn't take to him.

I was definitely intrigued from the prologue and it motivated me to keep reading to discover just how the situation in it came to fruition, and then I had to know who did it. As I say the second part of the book, after the attack was brilliant, and I ended up reading most of the last section of the book in one sitting.

Was a book of two halves for me, I'm very glad I kept reading, and anything I was less keen on was purely a me thing, the book itself was good And if you love unreliable narration, this is definitely one to look out for!

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily

This book was way too long. The first half was ok, but the second half was so convoluted and boring at the same time. I thought the dual perspective would have added something to the story but turned out to be unnecessary. I hated Beth, she was so obnoxious. She was horrible to pretty much everyone for no reason.

An anonymous call raises the alarm. Two bodies found as a result of a home invasion. Then the police see the knives. One in his hand. One in hers. Joe and Beth appeared to have the perfect relationship. But there are two sides to every story. His truth. Her truth. And the actual truth. In this web of lies, only one person can be telling the truth, can’t they?

His Truth Her Truth is a psychological thriller that thrives on deception, self-delusion and fractured perspectives. At the heart of the novel are Beth and Joe, a couple whose relationship appears stable on the surface but quickly unravels as secrets come to light. Told through alternating viewpoints, the story forces readers to sift through conflicting narratives, never quite sure who - if anyone - can be trusted.

The novel sets an eerie tone from the start, pulling the reader into a web of lies and half-truths. Beth, weighed down by grief, is emotionally volatile and unreliable, making her version of events difficult to fully believe. Joe, on the other hand, remains distant, prioritizing work over his struggling fiancée, which only adds to the disconnect between them. Their dynamic is an odd one since they're polar opposites in many ways, which makes their relationship intriguing but also frustrating to watch unfold.

While the first half ispacked with tension and uncertainty, the second half starts to lose momentum. There are plenty of twists - perhaps even too many - which, rather than heightening the suspense, start to feel predictable. Some plot developments require a bit of suspension of disbelief, particularly regarding the investigative aspects, which don’t always ring true. The police presence in the story feels somewhat off, and certain dialogue exchanges seem unnatural.

Despite these issues, His Truth Her Truth remains an interesting read. The exploration of how people shape their own realities and cling to their own versions of the truth adds a very enticing psychological spark. While not perfect, it’s a compelling story about deception, grief, and the fine line between perception and reality.

I would rate this book 2 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately, I really did not enjoy this. Both characters' POVs were infuriating to follow, they made terrible decision after terrible decision that it just felt like no sane human being would make. They were incredibly annoying! I also found the story overall to be quite predictable. This definitely was not for me.

Although the start of the book has me gripped and wanting more, I found that it then lacked the ability to keep that same need of wanting to see what happens. The main female character came across very whiny and although you're given her story, for me it made for difficult reading.

The book was rough - in ways that things were so so dragged out and didn't give the great reward or aha moment getting through this tough terrain to the end. The adrenaline along with Beth and a little bit with Joe just didn't stay up enough to make this an absolute thrill. The characters were rather unlikable to where almost immediately I didn't care to what happened to them. But I trudged on, hoping perhaps there would be some redeeming qualities, but nope. The characters eventually just became unbearable.

At one point, I was like - can Beth and Joe make any more excuses? Whenever one was going through something, the annoying thoughts or things they did were just so repetitive that I wasn't sure the storyline was going to go anywhere. And the reveal - meh, it was kinda sloppy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this eARC. All opinions are my own.

Oof… this title is misleading, as is the blurb.

62% into it there was still no reasoning for this title and the blurb still hadn’t made sense.

The first 60ish percent is about a woman named Beth who lost her father. She starts drinking uncontrollably and becomes insufferable and mean to anyone who tries to help her. She is pushing away Joe, her fiance. She’s doing terrible at work and has been suspended. Pushing away family and friends as well, all Beth wants to do is drink. She’s receiving prank calls and notes that Joes cheating. But is she paranoid and drunk or is this really happening? Even Beth can’t be sure….
Then finally part 2 starts and we have do@e more to go on. Still really, not his truth her truth, though as it’s pretty clear, at least to me that he is telling the truth. Can’t say why without spoiling though. This should have been called ‘did she or did didn’t she?’ Another con for me was that the big twist was unfortunately, glaringly predictable.
The pros of this is that it’s fast paced and has extremely short chapters so it flies by. So even though this is an extremely slow burn and you’re not getting to the thick of it until the last third of the book, it’s not boring.

This was my first by this author and while I wouldn’t recommend this one, I am going to try her other ones because I liked the writing style and the short chapters!

What a hook… *chef’s kiss*
And so this had me intrigued from the very first page, and I was scrambling to find out what happened to this couple.
Love the author’s style because the alternating chapters between the main characters just kept me wondering what was going on… Throwing more questions into the mix at each turn!
Noelle Holten is top notch, and this is a must read!
