It’s been a while since the authors last book, so I was excited to receive Noelle Holten’s latest novel ‘His truth, Her truth’. I was so intrigued by the blurb. So, I couldn’t wait to start this.
Unfortunately, for me personally this book didn’t work for me I found this rather slow, and I felt that this story was really drawn out. I also thought that the details of their relationship and Beth’s excessive drinking was on repeat for the first half of the book. it only got interesting at the last quarter of the book. 3 stars from me

Before I launch into my review, I would like to say a huge thank you to Noelle Holten, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter, and Netgalley for the Advanced Digital Reader Copy of this title. For anyone with their eye on this title, here is my personal review of the book to help you decide whether you are interested or not. All opinions offered are my own.
Well, this book certainly does not pull any punches. I know the blurb warns the reader that we were going to find two dead bodies and have to work out how on earth they ended up on the kitchen floor with knives making up part of the scene and series of events that had shortly unfolded. I just was not prepared for it to open on the crime scene. It was a fantastic way to kick start the action and hook me from the word go!
Joe and Beth are in a relationship. Presently, they are suffering a few hurdles following tragic events that have impacted Beth’s mental health. Consequently, what started as a loving relationship with its inconsequential bickering starts to unravel? But how does one go from an engaged couple to bloody bodies on a kitchen floor?
The author paints the scene quite early on that both characters are stressed. Beth is troubled by her father’s illness and usually masks her moods with alcohol. Joe works in a stressful environment advocating for the most vulnerable members of the community. Despite it all they appear to be happy together and recognize that they have each other for support. Both work in an environment that sees them caring for people so to suspect that either one of them would want to hurt each other is preposterous, but people change?
This story had me second guessing everything. From the reviews I had read, I had expected something entirely different to what I eventually read, and although there are domestic violence, manipulation, and coercive traits in the book, it is not clear cut and certainly not presented in a way that one would expect for the most part.
I loved the alternating perspectives as not only did you get an insight into each of these unreliable narrators whether it was down to lies, secrecy, or substance, but you also got to take a look at the same scenario from different perspectives. I am not sure if I really liked any of the characters. I probably sympathized with their situation, and found them to be weak, but yeah, I’m not sure I liked them. That said, I did not despise them either. If I met them in a pub, I would not gravitate towards them wanting to strike up a friendship.
The book dealt with some complex relationships and difficult family dynamics which made for interesting reading if you are made of ‘stronger stuff’. Otherwise, it is likely to be quite triggering.
I enjoyed the story, I liked the guessing game I was playing the entire time, and once I hit the 30% mark, I was unable to put the book down. However, I thought the ending was anticlimactic. There was such a huge, elaborate build up and I felt the ending just came spilling out in a way that did not quite do the book justice.
The short chapters made it easy to whizz through the book. The writing style was easy to digest. The plot was predominantly interesting, and all in all, it was a standout topic in the sense that I do not come across this theme often. Lovers of a who-dun-it will enjoy the book. For this reason, I am stamping this book with 4 out of 5 stars.

3.5 stars really but I'm only knocking it down to 3.5 from 4 because of the ending.
This book is broken down into two parts. Part 1 is told in alternate perspectives between Beth and Joe and I loved this part! The back and forth is what kept it really going for me and wanting to see what happened next. Beth loses her father and kind of spirals and Joe is trying to be helpful as he can while dealing with his own issues. Part 2 is where things started falling apart a little for me because she would drop hints to keep you guessing but then the rest of the way the story developed you pretty much could guess the ending. At the point it was kinda dragging out how you found out. And the way it did finally play out I felt like it was just all of a sudden here ya go and then it ends.
I still enjoyed it though for the most part if you're looking for something that will keep your attention mostly! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for being able to access the arc.

This book started off confusing me and kept on confusing me for ages but I wanted to know where it was going then it took a sharpe turn and I couldn’t put it down.
I cried a few times and I recognised a little bit of myself in just about all the characters in this book (apart from the perpetrator).
The end I didn’t see coming, but it was a good ending.
Loved it & would recommend this book.

Being a fan of the author's crime fiction novel I was looking forward to reading this psychological thriller. The author's writing experience and her previous work in the probation services is clearly shown here as she deals with difficult subjects such as domestic abuse, addictions, etc but her writing shows her understanding, empathy and experience of such details.
The short punchy chapters are a real success here. Not only does it make you want to read more it also gives that emotional break that is often needed within a story. The story is in chronological order and we hear the perspectives from both of the main characters.
Some people may need a trigger warning before reading the book. It is fiction, but the author deals with circumstances realistically.
I was hooked on the story from start to end and feel that this will be a big success in her already successful writing career.
The book is published on the 1st March in e-book format, paperback on 13th March and, 10th April in audiobook format.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK, NetGalley and the author, for providing me with an advanced electronic copy of the book in return for an honest and unbiased review

HIS TRUTH HER TRUTH is a psychological thriller by Noelle Holten. This is the first book I have read by Noelle Holten. This was an enjoyable read but I did find it confusing in places. There was a home invasion and a discovery of two bodies, each with a bloody knife in their hands and barely holding on. Who tried to kill them. Did they try to kill each other. This was a wild ride. The story continues with the story going back to before they were stabbed. Each chapter is flipped between Joe's or Beth's viewpoint trying to make you decide who tried to kill them. If you're into psychological thrillers, this one's for you.
Thank you to Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for my early copy of this book to read.

Wow, Noelle Holten knocks another one clean out of the park! I look so forward to her books and am always impressed that they only get better and better. This was dark and gritty with a little beacon of hope shining through. A big roller coaster ride that was so scary I had to close my eyes a few times. A great cast of characters kept me hooked from beginning to end. Don’t let this one pass you by! Big 5 stars from me.
Thank you NetGalley, Noelle Holten and One More Chapter (Kindle Edition) for the opportunity to read and review this gem of a book.

It did take me a little while to get into the rhythm of this book, but once I did it was a gripping domestic thriller that kept me turning the page. It’s not an easy read and I found myself so frustrated with Beth’s character but as the plot unfolded I was soon drawn in. It’s a take of trust and betrayal and I would rate it 4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.

Told between the perspectives of the two main characters and split into two parts, before and after the incident. I thought it started off a bit slow but certainly picked up the pace later on. What is seemingly a great relationship it becomes apparent that it is anything but, but who is telling the truth. A good storyline with suspense added in makes for a great read.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book from One More Chapter and NetGalley.
I found the first part of this book very hard going. Beth's alcoholism is relentless and although I have had no issues with alcohol in my life, I found it extremely challenging to read about. Which I guess maybe was the point!
Told through alternating chapters by Beth and Joe, in the second half of the book the pace picked up. I thought the connection between their jobs and cases they were working on was very interesting.
My favourite quote:
"Somewhere in the middle of both your versions in the truth."

Received a copy to review, here is the blurb
"An anonymous call raises the alarm. Two bodies found as a result of a home invasion. Then the police see the knives.
One in his hand.
One in hers.
Joe and Beth appeared to have the perfect relationship. But there are two sides to every story.
His truth. Her truth. And the actual truth.
In this web of lies, only one person can be telling the truth, can’t they?"
I enjoyed this book overall, however, I have to say I didn't feel much empathy for either character, thought they both had their flaws. I think the only character I actually liked was Beth's aunt. The book did flip between Joe and Beth and there perspectives but I did find it jumped around at times and felt a bit rushed. Overall it was an ok read but not the best I have read recently.

His Truth Her Truth is broke up to 2 parts. Part 1 is where you read the characters Beth and Joe’s life and what lead to the tragic incident. And part 2 is after the incident and trying to figure out what happened. The story had a great pace. I really enjoyed part 2 of the book. There was so much going on. When I read mystery novels I love trying to figure out who did it. In this book I kept going back and forth on which character did it. Overall solid mystery!

Thank you Netgalley and One More Chapter for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Noelle Holten’s “His Truth Her Truth” is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the blurred lines between perception and reality. Set in the idyllic yet sinister Gladstone Village, the novel unravels the devastating consequences of a toxic relationship, deception, and self-delusion. Told through alternating perspectives, it forces you to question what is real and who can truly be trusted.
The story opens with a chilling home invasion—Joe Trasker and Beth Stanford are found barely alive, both clutching knives, both suspected of attempting to kill the other. From there, the novel is divided into two parts: the first delves into the events leading up to that fateful night, particularly Beth’s struggles after her father’s death and Joe’s growing emotional detachment. The second part shifts focus to the search for the truth, peeling back layers of lies and betrayal.
One of the book’s strongest elements is its dual-perspective storytelling, which adds to the sense of unease and ambiguity. Beth and Joe’s versions of events contradict each other, making it difficult to determine who, if anyone, is telling the truth. Holten masterfully plays with unreliable narration, showcasing how personal biases and self-deception shape the stories we tell ourselves and others.
The first half of the book is a bit slow, though it does include detailed character development. If you’re expecting non-stop action and mystery, you may end up being disappointed. The second half, in contrast, is fast-paced, packed with twists and revelations that keep the tension high. The suspense builds steadily, and though some plot points stretch believability, they contribute to the book’s dark and ominous tone.
Beth and Joe are deeply flawed characters, neither particularly likable, yet both compelling. Beth’s dependence on alcohol and self-destructive tendencies make her an unreliable narrator, while Joe’s detached and secretive nature adds to the mystery. Their toxic dynamic is at the heart of the story, making it an unsettling but fascinating read.
Holten’s writing is sharp and immersive, with snappy dialogue and vivid descriptions that draws you into the tangled web of lies. The setting—both picturesque and ominous—enhances the book’s eerie atmosphere, reinforcing the idea that even the most perfect-seeming relationships can hide dark secrets.
While “His Truth Her Truth” doesn’t reinvent the psychological thriller genre, it delivers a suspenseful and thought-provoking read. The final twist is particularly effective, leaving you questioning everything you thought you knew. Fans of twisty domestic thrillers and unreliable narrators will find plenty to enjoy in this unsettling tale of trust, betrayal, and the ever-shifting nature of truth.

I liked the start of the book, very intriguing .I also liked the chapters being told from different points of view and the shortness of the chapters. I did struggle to like the main characters ,which meant I was less invested in their story then I might have been if I had liked them. Overall it is a reasonable read, but was quite slow in places, and for me didn't quite hit the spot.

In this story, the writer takes the whole "he says, she says" issue to another level, though the context is perhaps a little different than the typical one. After all, how often do you find yourself facing two bodies, two knives and two versions of events (none of which appear to add up, despite the simple maths on display)?!
Beth and Joe's apparently perfect relationship has turned out to be anything but. And with such conflicting stories, where does the truth really lie?
This is one of those books that really delivers on the twists and chills - worth checking out if you like thrillers! It gets 3.5 stars.

A Twisted, Addictive Thriller That Will Keep You Second-Guessing
Noelle Holten has done it again—*His Truth Her Truth* is a psychological thriller that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. From the very first page, I was hooked, drawn into the chilling scene of a home invasion gone terribly wrong. Two bodies, two knives, and two conflicting accounts. What really happened between Joe and Beth?
Beth and Joe seemed like the perfect couple—but as their stories unravel, so does everything you think you know. Holten masterfully plays with perspective, making you question every word, every motive, and every tiny detail. One moment I was convinced I knew the truth, only to be blindsided by another revelation.
The writing is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the psychological tension is off the charts. This is the kind of book that keeps you reading long past bedtime, heart racing as you flip each page, desperate to untangle the web of lies. Fans of Freida McFadden and John Marrs will devour this one in a single sitting.
If you love thrillers that mess with your head and keep you guessing until the final, jaw-dropping twist, *His Truth Her Truth* is an absolute must-read. Holten delivers a dark, gripping tale where trust is a dangerous illusion—and the truth is anything but simple.

I received a free copy of, His Truth Her Truth, by Noelle Holten, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Joe and Beth are married with secrets, now one of them is dead, who killed them? Wow, what a wild ride.

Joe and Beth appeared to have the perfect marriage. But there are two sides to every story. This novel centers around a home invasion gone terribly wrong. An anonymous call results in the discovery of two bodies, with one knife in his hand… and one in hers. But with faint pulses…they were both alive. Each chapter is short, making it easy to fly through,Beth and Joe are a couple with hidden truths, and neither is alone in their struggles

This had a very slow start, I must admit that it was too slow and it was hard to pick up the book to continue reading. But it started to get exciting towards the end. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for a chance to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

His truth her lie was fantastic. What a thrill ride. A quick read about a marriage couple. Who is living? Who is telling the truth? You will never know
