Get Lost with You by Sophie Sullivan was a cute second chance, friends to lovers novel, which is a type that I enjoy. I thought it got a little bogged down in the middle because the FMC was not confident in herself or her decisions regarding the MMC, in spite of the fact that he was a gem and his intentions were very clear. I found her character to be somewhat less developed than his. In spite of this, I did enjoy the book and will look for more of this author's work in the future. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Get Lost with You is a heartwarming second-chance romance set in the charming small town of Smile, where the promise of love and healing runs deep. Jillian Keller, a woman who's found stability and contentment running the family lodge while raising her daughter, never expects her carefully controlled life to be upended by Levi Bright. After chasing his culinary dreams in the big city, Levi returns to Smile, hoping to reconnect with his roots and start fresh. The chemistry between Jillian and Levi is undeniable, and Sullivan does an excellent job of balancing their personal growth with the rekindling of their past romance. The story’s sweetness, combined with just enough tension to keep things interesting, creates a feel-good narrative that will leave readers rooting for the couple's happily ever after.
While the romance is lovely, the story sometimes leans heavily into familiar tropes, and the conflicts between the characters feel predictable. Jillian's reluctance to open up because of past heartache, combined with the classic “best friend’s sibling” dynamic, adds some drama, but the plot rarely ventures into surprising territory. Still, Sullivan’s writing shines through with her knack for creating lovable characters and capturing the warmth of small-town life. The pace of the romance flows smoothly, and fans of sweet, low-stakes love stories will find much to enjoy in Get Lost with You. With a perfect balance of romance, personal growth, and community charm, it’s a delightful, easy escape for readers in search of a cozy, feel-good read.
My ranking for this book is 2.5⭐️
I was so intrigued by the description of this book. I love friends to lovers books and when they are both harboring secret crushes.
The reason for my lower ranking is (1) the 3rd person narrative. I don't love books that are told this way unless it's done well. I think I don't feel as immersed into the story. (2) The change between the FMC name and nicknames was too much: Jillian, Jill, Jilly...I was like just pick one please. (3) The book was slow, the MMC was very transparent with his feelings but for whatever reason the FMC had reservations that I couldn't grasp.
I didn't know this book was the second book in a series going into it. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to read the first one to read this one, but there was some references to other characters that I probably would have understood better from being introduced in the first book. I don't think I'll look for the first book or continue the series, but wasn't awful.
Thanks Netgalley and Sophie Sullivan and St. Martin's Press for the eArc copy to review.
Get Lost with You is a dual-POV second-chance romance. Jillian is a single mother raising her nine-year-old while working at the family’s lodge. When her high school crush Levi returns to their small town she can’t believe it. Levi, who left town to have a career as a chef is happy to return home, and even happier to reconnect with his former crush, Jillian. Jill is a little hesitant about giving her heart away, but Levi is there to cherish it.
This was a sweet, fade-to-black second-chance romance. It was great to see Jillian get her own story, and I loved her daughter Ollie. Levi was absolutely perfect, a dream partner. Definitely worth the read.

I love a Sophie story and I love this world that she has created in Smile. I enjoyed this story of single mom Jilly and chef Levi a lot. It was very light and easy and great for a snow day. I liked that the problems were real but weren't over done. I liked that their fears were valid but not over inflated. It's just what we want for a cozy read and props to Sophie for bringing in a little heat to Jilly and Levi's story!
It was a cute, small town single parent romance read. It had the whole siblings friend / childhood friend second chance element going for it too.
I really enjoy Sophie’s books, though this one was not my favorite of hers to date. While it had the small town and family dynamics I’ve come to expect from her books, the tension and banter were not as strong in this one. To be fair, friends to lovers is not one of my go to tropes either.
Overall, fans of friends to lovers and Sophie’s writing will surely enjoy. Thank you to NetGalley and SMP Romance for the opportunity to read an early copy.
Jilly and Levi are childhood friends who’ve both returned home after some time away. 🏡 Jilly is back after a messy divorce, with her daughter in tow, while Levi left his career as a high-end chef 👨🍳 to reconnect with family.
Jilly’s always had a crush on Levi (who happens to be her brother’s best friend, swoon 😍), but he always felt off-limits. When they run into each other after Levi’s return, sparks fly, and Jilly discovers her feelings were mutual all along. ❤️ However, Jilly’s divorce has left her cautious, and she’s hesitant to jump into a relationship despite their undeniable chemistry.
What Worked for Me:
That sweet small-town charm 🍂
Childhood friends-to-lovers AND the brother’s best friend trope (double win! 🥰)
Levi’s transparency and genuine love for Jilly 💕
What Didn’t Quite Hit The Mark:
The middle of the book was a little slow for me. 🐢 Jilly’s constant doubt about Levi’s feelings didn’t make sense—he was an open book, and his intentions were crystal clear! Also, her equating his career shift to doubts about his commitment to her? That logic didn’t quite translate. 🤔
I expected more drama when Jilly’s ex-husband entered the picture, especially since he was the source of her internal struggle. But his presence was surprisingly anticlimactic. 😕 For someone like me who loves a bit of strife before the HEA (happily-ever-after), this felt like a missed opportunity.
I always enjoy Sophie Sullivan’s writing style. ✍️. This book didn’t quite have the tension or pacing I was hoping for, but if you’re into sweet, cozy romances with minimal drama, it might be perfect for you! 💌

This was a hug. First Sophie Sullivan story for me.
I do love the small town feel and how well I got to know each character. However, I feel like I keep searching for more love between Levi and Jillian.
Another great story by Sophie Sullivan!! Sophie Sullivan’s books always feel like a nice, warm hug from your best friend! Levi & Jillian’s second chance love story is a super sweet one. The Get Lost & Smile regulars continue to be engaging and the family dynamics interesting (& believable). I definitely recommend this one! Is Grayson next? I can’t wait!!
As a general rule, I'm not a big fan of second chance romance, but this one was pretty cute. I really appreciated the fact that it wasn't full of angst. That tends to take me out of the story and this one didn't have that in the romantic relationship. There was a lot of tension and angst with family dynamics but I didn't mind that so much.
Levi Is 100% all in on this Romance and I loved that for him. Being a second chance, it made sense about the immediate spark in connection And it never felt forced and I just absolutely love his relationship with Jilly, the FMC daughter. It was really sweet. He was just like a delightful cinnamon roll character.
I will say this book is absolutely perfect for anybody who's never read any of her others because you get so much information about who everybody else is. Even if they've had a previous book. For somebody who's read the other books it does get a little bit info dumpy so that kind of takes you out of the story. But all in all it is a very enjoyable and quick romance book.
My rating: 2.5 ⭐️⭐️
Tropes:
- second chance
- friends to lovers
- small town
- brother’s friend

The fmc is a single mother who returned to her hometown and started a new life. The mmc is a man who came back home after achieving his dreams and ambitions. A childhood crush grew into something more and found its second chance.
It was a sweet story with characters who know how to set boundaries and communicate. The hero is a true "green flag" and a man who knows how to cook and loves doing it 😍.
Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I quickly got bored reading it — the chemistry between the characters was lacking.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a sweet and sometimes emotional story. Jillian is divorced single mother with a great need to take care of everyone around her. Levi is akin to the prodigal son returning home in the eyes of his dad. The story has some wonderful characters especially Jillian’s daughter. The story is set in a small town, appropriately called Smile. The folks are friendly and supportive. The plot of the story begins with a reunion between the two main characters and follows as their relationship develops. It is set an easygoing pace that reflects the setting. Readers will find this an easy to read and interesting story.
I really don’t think there’s a book Sophie Sullivan writes that isn’t a 5 star situation. I really appreciate how in this book the conflict isn’t so wildly out in left field that it’s unrelatable. Without any spoilers it’s completely feasible for this main conflict to happen to anyone and honestly the entire thing just felt like a breath of fresh air as far as the book being very close to how real life plays out. Levi & Jillys love story is absolutely perfect and precious and I LOVE that we get interactions throughout the entire book of characters from the first book instead of just breezing right by them once and never seeing them again. They’re actually an integral part of the plot line. Just overall so beautifully done.

Jillian Keller took the long route to her best life, but is now happily settled in her hometown of Smile, raising her little girl alone while helping her brother run Get Lost Lodge. A lover of structure and routine, she doesn’t need anyone disrupting her carefully curated life.
After chasing and achieving his culinary dreams, Levi Bright realizes he’s still missing something he can’t find in a big city. Returning home to Smile, he intends to build a different future for himself, including reconnecting with family and friends, and creating elevated comfort food for a town he loves.
When Levi and Jilly run into each other, past feelings that never had a chance to bloom flare between them… but she’s been hurt before, and falling for her older brother’s best friend seems like a recipe for drama. But sometimes, a second chance at love leads you right where you’re meant to be.
My Thoughts:
If you’re in the mood to escape into a feel good second chance romance, this will hit the spot. Levi and Jillian’s story was a sweet, slow-burn, feel good story. All in all it was enjoyable and I have no dislikes, it was just a like vs love for me but definitely check it out for yourself.
What I enjoyed:
✨ Second Chance
✨ Childhood Friends To Lovers
✨ Small Town
✨ Feel Good Romance
While this is the second book in the series, I did not read the first and found it to be totally readable as a standalone.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you so much NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read Get Lost with You! This book was such a cutie! I mean a small town, best friend sister who is a single mom, and he had a crush on her when they were kids….YES PLEASE! One of my favorites scenarios! Sophie Sullivan writes this very smoothly and it’s an easy read! She writes the emotions of the characters perfectly!
I enjoyed reading this book - the relationship moved pretty quickly, but that's not a downfall. The characters were sweet, and I enjoyed the setting. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Get Lost With You by Sullivan is a heartwarming second-chance romance that fans of feel-good stories will enjoy. The book features Levi, a delightful male lead who’s fully committed to his relationship with Jilly from the start. Their love story is filled with sweet moments, especially as Levi bonds with Jilly’s daughter, making it a fulfilling and wholesome read. The small-town setting and family dynamics add charm, making it easy to get lost in the story, even without reading the first book in the series.
While the book offers a cozy, tension-free plot, some readers may find it a bit too calm or predictable. The family drama adds more conflict than the romantic tension, and the slow-paced story might not be for everyone. However, it's perfect for those seeking a gentle and feel-good romance with no angst.
Overall, this is a charming read with a lot of heart, ideal for fans of small-town romances and second chances.
I love Sophie Sullivan romances. They are always so tender and sweet! This one being no exception. It was a lovely low(ish) stakes romance that was sweet as sugar. Also, it was closed door if that's your jam!
Personally I like to have a bit more conflict/higher stakes in my romance books so this was a bit bland for me. However, I think that the second romance trope has slowly worked its way into my heart and this book gave one more gentle shove.
I did find the pacing of this book to be a little funky, just with the instant relationship and some other plot lines, it made it feel a little slow but also too fast?
Ollie is still my favorite character to come out of this standalone series. I mean how could you not love a sassy nine year old?
Overall it was a sweet book with a touch of conflict, a perfect palate cleanser if you ask me!
Tropes in Get Lost with You:
- Road Trip Romance
- Slow Burn
- Opposites Attract
- Second Chance Romance
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Forced Proximity
The story follows Piper Richards, a free-spirited woman who’s determined to take control of her life after a series of setbacks, and Jonah Brooks, a quiet, introspective man with a love for adventure. When their paths cross on a spontaneous road trip, sparks fly, but both of them are carrying emotional baggage that could complicate any potential romance.
Sullivan does a fantastic job of building a slow-burn romance between Piper and Jonah. Their connection feels real and authentic, starting from a place of mutual curiosity and slowly developing into something deeper and more meaningful. Piper’s journey of self-discovery, fueled by her need to escape the pressures of her past, is both inspiring and relatable. Jonah, on the other hand, is a grounded, caring presence who helps Piper navigate her insecurities and fears, all while hiding some of his own vulnerabilities.
The chemistry between Piper and Jonah is undeniable, and Sullivan perfectly balances their romantic moments with emotional depth, ensuring that each interaction feels earned and impactful. The road trip setting adds a unique and fun dynamic, as the pair explores new places and confronts their pasts together. It’s a perfect blend of adventure and introspection, giving readers the opportunity to see both characters grow individually and as a couple.
Sullivan’s writing is both witty and heartfelt, and she seamlessly weaves humor into the more emotional moments, making for an enjoyable and engaging reading experience. The book is filled with warm, light-hearted moments that are balanced with the deeper emotional exploration of love, trust, and personal growth. The pacing is spot-on, and the novel never feels rushed, allowing the romance to unfold naturally.
Thank you so much to the publisher for my ARC!
Have you ever been enveloped in one of those big, warm hugs that just seem to go on forever? Because this book is the equivalent of that comforting feel-good feeling, and Sophie Sullivan delivers a wonderfully sweet and heartwarming story of second chances, in life and in love. Levi and Jilly’s journey is filled with tender moments and heartfelt confessions, which highlight their growing and deepening bond tremendously. One oft he stand out aspects of this novel is how well they communicate with each other, and talked through their feelings instead of relying on misunderstandings to further the plot. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see two adults working out issues, admitting feelings, and being genuine and authentic, making their story relatable and grounded. Highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing me with the ARC. :)
