My Thoughts on *The Head Teacher*:

I enjoyed the character development, particularly the relationship between Liz and her daughter, as well as their parallel experiences.

The book started off slowly and is quite lengthy for the genre, coming in at just under 400 pages, which unfortunately made it feel long to me. At times, Liz's theories seemed so far removed from reality that it was difficult for me to take her seriously.

While this book doesn't earn top marks from me, I will keep an eye out for other works by the author.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

This was my first book by H. M. Lynn. I was thrilled to receive an arc as the premise grabbed my interested immediately being in the education field myself. I felt the story was entertaining, but it was a little slow paced. I was constantly guessing for the "who done it," and the ending was surprising! Not sure I would recommend this one, but I'm not upset I read it. I will continue to read other books by her. All opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

The Head Teacher by H.M.LYNN
The higher you climb, the greater the fall.
I would never have been hired if they knew what I'd done. My past.
St Ann's is a strict environment, and after one year in the coveted position of head teacher, I know I can't put a foot wrong.
Some don't think I deserve this. Others are desperate for the job themselves.
And one of those people wants to bring me down.
Whoever this person is, they know things about me. Secrets I've barely told anybody.
Like anyone in my position, I'm terrified of what they might uncover if they dig deeper.
And what they might do to me—and my family—if I don't get to them first.
But I won't let them win.
The Head Teacher is a fast-paced, unpredictable, and unsettling psychological thriller. It is a page-turner that will keep you guessing with numerous twists and turns, leaving you on the edge of your seat, eager to uncover the next one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book; the plot was excellent, and the characters were solid and believable.
I am happy to recommend it.
I want to thank the publishers Boldwood Books, author Hannah M Lynn, and Rachels Random Resources for providing me with a copy to read and review.

This was a quick read with short chapters, which I really liked. I was pulled in from the beginning, and needed to know who was causing all of this chaos! I was almost sure I had things figured out, but I was way off! The book was packed with suspense, and I feel that the way some tough subjects were talked about was done well. The ending felt a little rushed, but I really enjoyed the twists! Definitely recommend this one.

This is a first time read for me by this author and it won't be my last. It's a gripping, psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the very last page. The author does a splendid job of weaving together an intense and compelling tale that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Liz is a head teacher at a well-known and respected Catholic school. Her family has been through a lot the past year and she's looking forward to a better one this year. But that doesn't seem to be the case, as her past seems to catch up with her.
The story is fast-paced and thrilling and kept me turning the pages, anxious to see what happens next. With its complex characters and a plot that keeps you on edge, it’s a story that will haunt you long after you turn the final page. This is perfect for those who enjoy a dark and twisty tale with an emotional core.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books and am voluntarily leaving my review.

First of all, thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free ARC. First half of this book was a very slow burn. The rest of the book was nonstop pieces falling into place for me. Story is pretty much about a head teacher having her job and family under attack from a mysterious person or are they. You will have to find out. I would recommend it if you are into family drama and psychological thrillers. This one will mess with your head a little, because you don't know who to trust

Having read Hannahs ‘Sweet Shop and Wildflower Lock series I was intrigued by her debut psychological and she didn’t disappoint and I really hope she writes more. I don’t want to say too much at the risk of giving away spoilers for this wonderful book, but what I can say is you will be hooked too, the characters were so well written and had a depth that made you feel like you were living the story too. Overall, an absolutely addictive, intriguing, page turning and suspense packed thriller that pull you in until you finish.

This thriller was very reminiscent of a novel that came out earlier this year, but I can appreciate that this novel pulled out all the stops with the twists and turns. Very entertaining.

4.3 stars

wow! what a rollercoaster! I really enjoyed reading about Elisabeth, a 'troubled' head teacher at a Catholic school. The stigma, the secrets, the reveals were all done beautifully! Sometimes, the past will never escape you, no matter how hard you try! The characters were nicely flushed out and I truly empathised with Liz and her situation. Nicely done!

Many thanks to the author, Booldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to provide an honest review

Unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me. I couldn’t get behind the main character and I found the plot slow and lacking in something I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s not a bad book by any means, and I’m sure this will find its right readers.

This is the author’s debut novel. I basically devoured it in one go! The Head Teacher is a gripping read filled with expertly crafted twists that keep you eager to discover who is trying to ruin Liz's life. Each character is distinct and well-developed. Unlike many psychological thrillers that unfold across two timelines (past and present), this story takes place entirely in the present, making it easier to follow the narrative. This is a well-paced thriller that will keep your mind racing until the very last moment, offering a satisfying conclusion. I’m giving it 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5 for Netgalley, Amazon, and Goodreads.

I don't think it was a bad book particularly, it was just underwhelming to me.
The main character kept building up the horror and scale of what she had done in her past in a way you'd think she killed someone or something.
When the actual reveal of the secret happened, I was actually staring blankly at my phone. Like, seriously? That's it?
The writing was great, I managed to read the whole thing without being bored, apart from the beginning. There's a limit to how much school management description I can read.
I would recommend it to someone new to the genre, or looking for a palate cleanser book between heavy reads.

As a teacher, I thought I was going to love The Head Teacher by H.M. Lynn. It was definitely a slow build for me, and I loved the last 30% of the book. That last part? Whoa. Definitely a good ending.

I wish I had connected more with the characters, although I could see the strain that is put on administrators while running a school. I liked that Liz was protecting her daughter, but the rest of the story fell a little flat to me.

I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. There are other readers that loved it, and I'm still glad I read it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and H.M. Lynn for my free copy of the book. This is my honest review.

I was hooked on this book from the start and as the plot progressed I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. A psychological, thriller which certainly didn’t disappoint . I doubted everyone and trusted no one but I was still left reeling as it all folded .

The Head Teacher I felt took a while to build up, I wouldn't class it as a psychological thriller per say, but ones it got going and Liz finally pieces it all together and realises that she is in fact not going mad we are treated to a tale or revenge.

But not the revenge I thought it was going to be about, which Ms Lynn does an excellent job at throwing in red herrings and throwing you off track.

The book was so good that was a twist I never saw coming it was set up perfectly, and I love that the family got their happy ending

My Thoughts: i really enjoyed this one, very different to the usual thrillers that I read, its told all in one timeline, in the present day, which left me with a really uneasy feeling because I just didn’t know where the story was going to go!

It’s been a while since a book made me feel like that, uneasy is the word I’m using but in this context it’s a positive thing.

I really felt for Liz all the way through because it just felt that no one was on her side, the daughter blamed her & ran away, the husband wouldn’t even listen to a thing she had to say and just kept telling her that she should know better.

There were so many side characters and different ways that the story good go that I truly couldn’t work it out, I second guessed myself all the way through and still got it wrong! 😂

This one was gripping, I couldn’t put it down, I bloody loved it and think you should all pick it up like yesterday!
