This event seemed like a lot of fun but July had other plans and I could not participate as much as I would've liked. That being said I loved the idea of this event. Bingo boards are such a fun part of any reading-type event let us readers enjoy having direction but also the freedom to read based on our favorite authors and genres! I hope it returns next year and I hope I get to participate more fully in Camp NetGalley!

I LOVE having new stickers for the reading journal! It's the only one I've ever managed to stick with and I use it multiple times a week. I've really grown to love it, so having some new images to add in made me smile a bunch!

I wish there were a more centralized place to be able to chat with others and share things than just scattered under hashtags on a bunch of different social media sites. A Discord might be too much to ask I guess? Is there a Reddit page I don't know about? I get that social media is probably easier, but that's my main lacking point here is just not having a single place to connect with others for it. I don't really do much on social media for that reason so that was a large chunk of it that I just wasn't involved in like the scavenger hunt apparently.

Overall fun idea, but didn't feel very interactive which is really a core tenet of a "summer camp" theme, to make connections!

This was such a great idea, although I did not have much time to participate in the social media's activities. The idea of the whole camp with a bing and different stickers you can get is absolutely genius, I just think people need to be a bit more actively talking and participating in order for this to be a complete hit. A winter camp or another type of event could be great in order for people to get in touch with these activities online, and it could create some hype for the summer activities. I wish my mutuals from social media had participated, maybe next year we will try to inspire people to participate.

Here are two fo my most recent (and long) reviews from ARCs received from Netgalley. I am going to leave the links, because they are indeed quite long to put here. Thank you for this opportunity!

I really loved the concept of Camp NetGalley! As soon as I got the welcome packet, I read through it and posted my “get to know the camper” info on my IG stories. After the first few days, everything fell off my radar. I wish the welcome packet had more clear instructions on when + how to post. Having tasks broken down weekly or with any kind of date outlines would have helped me plan for and keep up with things. I do look forward to participating next summer!

What a fun and exciting summer reading event for the people to be engaged. The scavenger hunt was probably the most fun! Looking forward to next years event!

Fun cover and fun idea. Made me reminiscent of my summer camp days and eager to participate in this. Hitting someone’s ethos is a great way to get them to be involved in anything and this did just that.

Camp NetGalley has been such a fun summer reading activity. I especially enjoyed the prompts on Instagram during Week 3 for the Scavenger Hunt. I also love a good bingo so that has been great too!

This was a fun activity and easy way to show publishers how engaged a reviewer is within the NetGalley community via their sticker. My only recommendation for the future is to make the Welcome Pack accessible via kindle/e-reader.

Thank you NetGalley!

Camp NetGalley has proved to be a fun way to catch up on ARCs during the Summer. I participated in the activities alongside my SciFi Summer reading challenge to read and review the Science Fiction ARCs on my shelf. I particularly enjoyed the Camp NetGalley Bingo board, and though I haven't made a bingo quite yet, I only have one square left and a couple of days to go!

What a fun little event for the summer! I wish I had figured it out sooner so I could have participated more fully! I'm looking forward to the next one!

So I downloaded Camp NetGalley but have a major quibble. Our summer in the UK starts way later than that in the US. I would have loved to have had the whole of August to do this but unfortunately, I only had ten days. Please make note of this for next year.

Also, instructions were very unclear about how to submit to Bingo board.

My Talent Show entry is a book that I reviewed last year. The author picked it up, quoting from it for a promotional social media post.

As they say, it's always better to be late than never because I was certainly late for this online Netgalley event. It's a good thing that I was looking for titles yesterday and I came across the Camp Netgalley in the Read Now titles. Hehehe. So I joined because having a #CampNetgalley badge is kind of cool. When I checked the things that need to be done for a successful participation in the Camp, I thought that "OK FINE. These are all doable given the time that I have so let's do this."

So here I am right now, writing this review because Camp Netgalley is almost at conclusion. What I found the most challenging in the event is the Bingo. Wow. I joined late into the party so my time is very limited and I was just saying while playing the Bingo "Please not this one...no, not Horror...not Thriller..." Thank the heavens because I got lucky with the Bingo, I got the row 1 across which is easy because when I joined the Camp, I have a lot of books and ARCs written by POC authors. It's just a matter of choosing what book so I asked a friend from the office to choose among the books and ARCs that I have. And the verdict is ...chan chadadan.... The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon, a fellow Filipina.

I have already posted the link of my review for the book. It's not as enjoyable as I thought it would be but nonetheless, it was not a complete flop. I will also be reading the second book and I hope things such as plot development will get better. Anyway, let us forget the books for now and get down to business. So what are my thoughts about Camp Netgalley? Well, I enjoyed it despite that I was late into the game. As a busy person, I find that the challenges perfectly fitted my schedule. I was able to do the challenges without getting too stressed about completing the camp's Bingo game.

Here is what the Bingo card has in store for me:

Share review to social media - Check!
BIPOC author - Check!
Share pic of your Camp reading spot - Check! (Look at my IG)
Raise your Feedback Ratio - Check! (I don't think I can raise it any higher as I am already at around 96% reviewing ratio)
Friend picks what you’ll read - Check! (My review here: Book Review: The Hurricane Wars - Snoozly Kitsune)

All in all, this was a fun camp and I'm certainly proud with my Bingo accomplishments.  My only wish for this event, however, is that Netgalley should consider adding a forum wherein all the participants can gather and discuss their Camp Netgalley journey together. I'm so excited to get that badge and more events like this in the future, please Netgalley. :D

This was a nice feature to add in this summer. Would love to see seasonal or holiday inspired activities to come.

Might be worth doing a feature post with specific hashtags for a sort of competition. Maybe by individual or by book club?

Thank you for the something new here this summer.

Here is my review of Go To Hell by Erika Engelhaupt:

She does it again! Engelhaupt has an outstanding ability to take science- based topics and present them in an informative yet totally approachable and exciting way. I was blown away by Gory Details and Go to Hell will be another I will be recommending as I begin impatiently waiting for the next book by my newest auto-buy author!

In Go To Hell, we venture across the globe to find places associated with concept of Hell through folklore, physical features, unlivable conditions, and otherworldly attractions. While I enjoyed reading about each one of these places and their connection to the concept of Hell, I can safely say that not all the locations made it on my personal destination bucket list as many were truly -well- hellish!

This was a bit fun from Netgalley! I like any excuse to pretend it's not winter in Aotearoa-New Zealand!

Well, this was a fun way to enhance the NetGalley experience. I liked that it had ideas of ways to stretch reading in different ways - by types of books, by activities, and by finding good "stuff" to read. I also liked that it added a layer of community to the NetGalley experience - something I hope continues. Thanks to NetGalley for adding a neat dimension to being a reviewer on here!
