3.5-4⭐️ A cute debut that had all the making of a five star read for me…until the third act breakup. It was a cute read with all the great chemistry which leads to a one night stand.
Featuring dual POV, he falls first, a one-night stand, and friends to lovers.
*many thanks to Forever and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

Sawyer is a romance writer going through a bit of a writer's block. Once she manages a meet cute encounter with a guy stuck on an elevator they strike up a deal this winter season to help her out.
So I should have known when I picked up this book it would be based off of the winter time but I didn't realize that until later on and now I am weirdly Christmas spirit in the middle of summer the positive note I can do a Christmas in July if I wanted to now that I'm in that seasonal mood. I did enjoy this book I liked the whole friends to lover Trope if you're into fake dating kind of situation you might like this book. I enjoyed getting to see both of their point of views. These two had great chemistry and there was a few steamy scenes. I thought it was interesting their thought processes when it came to helping her with her writer's block. Overall this was a pretty good book it was fun and charming and if you are looking to put something on your future Christmas time tbr list or your Christmas in July list maybe this will be it.

Thank you Forever and NetGalley for the DRC of Unromance! All opinions in this review are my own.
I am happy to say that this book lived up to the hype for me! People were not exaggerating how good this romance is! I love how each chapter starts with a trope definition which is featured in the chapter. While it may sound like this book just panders to tropes in an effort to include them, it is truly done in a skillful way so that it doesn't feel like this. Each trope is included in an effort to "ruin" it for Mason and to try to prove that they only work in romance novels and not in the real world. Overall, I loved the tone of Unromane and feel like it is a fresh take on the romance genre which has become obsessed with identifying books solely by their tropes.

ultimately this was really disappointing. it felt very insta-lovey to me, and the main draw (banter) just didn’t hit the way i wanted it too. i also feel like the whole trope check-list set-up was really underutilized and made the pacing feel weird.

This was a really fun rom com, especially if you love rom coms and all their tropes. There were so many tropes. It was basically the whole plot - in a good way. I liked the characters and the way their story played out. I liked it for the most part anyway. True to the tropes, there was an annoying misunderstanding/break up that dragged on a bit. The book as a whole was still funny and a lot of fun though.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

I'm so mad at myself for taking forever to read this!! I adored Mason, which is no surprise because I LOVE a man who's a simp for his woman (seriously, it's the only type of man I'm attracted to). Sawyer was just the perfect amount of heartbroken, snarky, and soft. I enjoyed watching her walls eventually come down and appreciated that the author focused on her personal and emotional growth as the hurtle for her and Mason's relationship. What I didn't anticipate was how HOT Unromance was. I was straight up blushing and sweating!! I essentially had bi-panic the whole book but it was such a fun read and I devoured every page.
Thank you to Forever, NetGalley, and the author for sending me an early copy!

I loved Sawyer and Mason so much! They were both really sweet, and the book had a nice flow to it. Wasn’t super into the double dose of third act break-up (sawyers level of self sabotage was next level), but I was rooting for them both the whole time.

unromance is the romance book for romance lovers, incorporating tropes and popular romcom movies in a really fun and comedic way! the main characters have a really easy connection that doesn't feel like insta-love, which is ideal and makes the reader feel super comfortable with them! this was a fun light read and i look forward to reading more from this author!

a refreshing, mature take on the romance genre—less fairy tale, more real life, but no less rewarding. It’s perfect for readers who want emotional depth, flawed characters, and a story that doesn’t follow the rules but still hits you right in the heart.

I really loved this book and immediately recommended it to a friend. Sawyer is a well-know. romance author who doesn’t believe in love and Mason is a B list celebrity who is constantly dragged in the tabloids for falling for his co-stars. Sawyer and Mason team up to ruin every holiday romance trope they can before they part ways. This book starts with a bang and then slows down to a steady simmer for a majority of the book. The tropes were a ton of fun, the chemistry was great, and I loved two celebrities as MCs. I also adored the ending and the way they resolved their issues. I do think Sawyer’s hangups from her previous relationship were a bit blown out of proportion, but as Sawyer lives a very isolated life, I can understand how things got bigger in her head than they were in reality. 4.5 stars

This was a decent read. A meet cute is always a fun trope. Quick, fun summer read. I would recommend.

My friends hyped up Unromance, so I was disappointed it was just a "fine" book for me. I had to force myself to finish listening because I was bored by the repetitive scenes and conversations between Sawyer and Mason. I will not be posting about this book on my booksatragram because I keep that space positive and prefer not to share my thoughts on a book I didn't enjoy.

I really wanted to love this one, but I kept finding myself putting it down. It was a struggle to keep with, and I just couldn't get hooked.

I really wanted to love this book, and it killed me that I just couldn’t get into it!
I’m not sure if it was the 3rd person POV
Or the amount of different tropes, but I just couldn’t get into it, just wasn’t for me
Thank you so much for the opportunity Forever publishing, NetGalley & Erin Connor!

When starting this book I kind of wasn’t very interested…but it grew on me a bit. Still skipping the unnecessary spicy scenes , I liked how it progressed, and the growth each achieved in the relationship.

I really enjoyed this one. I thought Sawyer and Mason had great chemistry, and their characters felt believable.
The only thing that I had maybe a small dislike about was that it was written in 3rd person POV, which isn’t my favorite, though I will say that it was written well enough that it didn’t bother me too much.
I would definitely recommend this one, and I will definitely read more from Erin Connor in the future!
Many thanks to the author and publisher for an eARC for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was an enjoyable read. The banter was great, the different rom com references were a lot of fun and the general interactions between the two MCs was really well done - especially in a debut romance.
Some of the key tropes:
- He falls first
- One night stand
- Bi FMC
- Forced proximity
- Meet cute
- A list of tropes to 'debunk'
- Open door spice
I ate this book up - I really enjoyed the checklist of different tropes (each chapter having it's own focus) that they were recreating and the way that they kept going through the activities. I thought the romance writer FMC was a great foil for the MMC. Their friendship was solid as it developed and their relationship really grew throughout the story which made the overall HEA believable and something that I was rooting for. Overall, really solid debut - I'm looking forward to what's next from this author.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC of this book.

UNROMANCE is a little more classically romcom in a way I love - great writing, big feelings, a love story that’s perfectly complemented by character growth. The plot reminded me of beach read, but more purposefully leaning into tropes (including celebrity-normal person, which isn’t always my fav but is executed perfectly here). Also, it’s set in Chicago! At Christmas time! (But you can read it any time of year!)

This is a cozy, heartwarming holiday romance with just the right amount of spice and emotional depth.
Sawyer Greene might write love stories for a living, but after a brutal breakup and a relentless case of writer’s block, she’s lost all faith in happily-ever-afters. Enter Mason, a stranger, and a broken elevator—what starts as a one-time fling quickly becomes more complicated when fate (and festive decorations) throw them back together at a Christmas market worthy of a Hallmark movie.
This story strikes a perfect balance between snarky banter and genuine connection. Sawyer is a relatable, sharp-witted protagonist whose emotional walls feel earned and real, while the love interest brings just enough warmth and charm to slowly melt them down.
I also listened to this as an audiobook, which added an extra layer of enjoyment, enhancing the whole experience. Whether you're curling up with the physical book or letting the audiobook carry you through cold evenings, this is a feel-good holiday romance with humor, heart, and a touch of heat. Perfect if you are a fan of second chances and unexpected holiday magic.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I’m so thankful that Forever, Hachette Audio, and Netgalley gave me gifted copy of Unromance.
I grabbed it for the cover. She might be eating a fry but it definitely looks like something else.
Unromance was such a fun romcom.
I loved the meet cute that Sawyer and Mason had. The concept of Unromance was also great. Sawyer and Mason go through a bunch of common tropes to help Sawyer write her next book and to help Mason not fall in love.
It is set during the holidays so if you’re looking for a holiday related book definitely check it out.
I loved the narrators. They added to the storytelling of the book.
