Loved this debut! So fun and tender and I loved the celebrity/author aspects of it, I loved the dynamic of that kind of relationship. I also enjoyed that HE was the hopeless romantic who fell too fast and too hard, it worked out for him in the end though! Love all around!

I am SHOOK that this is Erinโs debut. I loved this book!
The plot was well-paced, the characters were raw, and the spice was balanced.
I flew through this book in less than a day and had a hell of a time.
Big thanks to Forever Publishing and Netgalley for the eARC!

Thanks so much to @readforeverpub for the free eARC!
OKAY LOOK AT THE COVER OF THIS BOOK!!! It is GORGEOUS! It had me intrigued immediately.
This was an enjoyable read. It honestly felt like a movie. It read like a rom-com and I could easily envision this on the big screen someday. The entire plot was so fun, and the beginning of each chapter contains a romance trope description/definition, these enhance the story a lot.
Together the main characters embark on dates that are not dates. We have a romance enthusiast and a romantic cynic. They make quite the duo.
The MMC Mason is a golden retriever. He is just such a sweetheart.
The banter between him and Sawyer was so fun, and again it genuinely felt like a movie.
Speaking of Sawyer she is full of jokes. This next part is my biggest complaint. Sawyer's humor was not for me. It was too immature and I just didnโt vibe with it.
With that being said, this was still a delightful story, and a very impressive debut novel.
You can read Unromance when it comes out on January 14th!

Loved this one! And the tongue-in-cheek references to the perfect romance. I adore dthe characters , and the writer's pacing kept my interest until the end.

3.5 stars - When Sawyer Greene, a romance author experiencing a serious case of writer's block since her last relationship ended, finds herself stuck in an elevator with the attractive Mason West, she immediately guards herself, and him, from any potential meet-cute feelings. Sawyer is NOT looking for love...but a one-night-stand she can do. Yet when she continues to run into Mason all over the city, she realizes she needs to nip this in the bud, so they make a deal. Sawyer needs inspiration for her new book and Mason needs to stop seeing every remotely romantic moment as a sign, so over a series of friendship dates, Sawyer will do her absolute best to ruin all of the quintessential rom-com tropes so Mason will never fall for them again.
Such a fun holiday romance! I really enjoyed the chemistry between Sawyer and Mason, and loved watching them try to make this ridiculous agreement work, but there were times where I wish they felt a little more fleshed out. Not that the romance wasn't entertaining, but I think I would have also loved to see more of Sawyer and Mason at work, to see those sides of them have a bit more depth. Overall the banter was delightful, the side characters charming, and the romance spicy!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

DNF. I couldnโt stay engage with this book. I think the story line was great, but it didnโt hold my attention.

What a debut! An easy five star read for this delight of a book that was tailor made for avid romance readers.
Sawyer Greene has been suffering from writer's block since her break-up a few years ago. After she gets stuck in an elevator with a handsome man, she decides to go home with him for a little inspiration. ๐ It turns into something more when they run into each other at a Christmas market. Sawyer needs to get back to writing, and Mason, the ever romantic, needs help ruining romance for him. They create a pact: Sawyer will take him on romantic experiences and ruin them for him in the hopes that experiencing popular rom-com tropes and romantic atmospheres will also bringing back her creative spark.
Because of the details of the pact, each chapter starts with a definition of a romance trope / microtrope. I adored every single one of these - I truly laughed out loud reading some of the definitions and squealed in delight reading some of them - gray sweatpants, I'm talking about you. I looked forward to seeing which trope would appear next and how it would be incorporated into the upcoming chapter. If you read romance or watch rom-coms, you will enjoy this fun touch!

I genuinely cannot wait to read more of Erin Connor's work and hope you enjoy Unromance as much as I did! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I will share my review on my instagram @thecozybookgal closer to release date!

Well this book was just the freaking cutest!
The name, the cover, the fact that itโs a holiday romance, and the list of totally romantic things to make unromantic. Literally everything about this book was absolutely adorable! Sawyer and Mason were perfect main characters, and I loved reading their story. They both went from being all tied into their emotions to actually using their minds and expressing their feelings in a healthy way. It made me so happy to actually see good character development and not a cop out of a miscommunication troupe.
Added note: The pop culture references were fantastic! I know some people donโt enjoy them in books, but I really loved them in this one. Also the opening snippets before each chapter were gold! They added so much to the book, and made it more lighthearted.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Read Forever Pub for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute romance with some spice. I enjoyed both Mason and Sawyer they were fun and enjoyable characters that you find yourself rooting for. The storyline was fun and somewhat different than other romance books. I recommend this for anyone looking for a sweet lighthearted romance.

Thank you to NetGalley, Forever & Erin Connor for a chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is an easy five star rating for me. EASY. Tension, chemistry, banter, denial of feelings- truly everything I love and need in a romance. A subplot that I particularly loved was how we, as readers, got to see how movie adaptations can go sideways and be such a negative experience for our beloved authors.
While we shouldn't judge a book by the cover-- how stunning is this one!? I was soo giddy when I got to this scene because the cover just so perfectly captures it!
I just don't understand a January pub date. I will be posting about this book to my followers now, but also again next November/December. The holiday themed dates and just the bulk of the story taking place from right before Thanksgiving to New Years Day- this book is a Holiday mood reader's dream!

Firstly I am shocked that this is a debut novel. The writing in style was elevated yet still easy to read. The development of the main characters and secondary characters was so well timed and put together.
The premise of ruining all these romantic tropes was such a fun refreshing spin on the normal romcom novels. I think Erin did a fantastic job in the way she implemented each trope.
My only complaint is the inner dialogue of the FMC. She seemed to overthink things a lot. Which could be pretty true for normal life but it felt like it took a lot of time on the pages. Iโm normally not into golden retriever MMCs but I LOVE Mason West(Alvarez lol). The letter he wrote made my heart literally flutter.
All in all Iโm highly impressed my Erin Connor and Iโll be recommending this book to everyone.

This is a rom-com about rom-coms, featuring a jaded romance novelist and an actor who is a walking, talking, romance trope. It was kind of silly, in the way that most rom-coms are, but it wasn't cringey.
I loved all the little chapter blurbs for all the tropes, especially the plaid flannel one because it's science and therefore it's true.
And the tights scene ๐
That is going to live rent-free in my brain and I'm not mad about it. In fact, I would like to thank Erin for putting that into the universe.
This gave me all the feels and I had such a good time reading it. This goes on the shelf as one of those books that I immediately wanted to start over again because I wasn't ready to be done with it.

Erin Conner's debut takes the culmination of popular romance book tropes to the next level in this funny, charming story of a hopeless romantic and a talented romance writer with a writer's block.
The dialogue bounce between the two characters had me hooked right from the beginning. I loved how the fun banter that Erin Conner created for her characters were amplified by the special tidbits in this book like the chapter prologues with cute prologues of romance tropes. And good news to spicy readers! This book is spicy certified. There are some life changing scenarios that will never leave my mind. When picked up this book before my flight thinking that spicy usually only picks up around the mid-way point, I left the plane deeply regretting picking the aisle seat LOL (and I was only 30% in).
If you love:
- reading for the romcom tropes (meet-cutes, fateful encounters, fake dating-ish)
- watching Hallmark movies for the holidays
- writer x actor storyline
- a cinnamon roll, golden retriever, sunshine-est of the sunshines MMC
I think this book will be MUST read for you in 2025!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for an e-arc of this fantastic debut!

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for the e-arc in exchange for a review!
This book was cute, but it didn't particularly stand out to me in its own way. There wasn't really a WOW factor.
I thought it was cute that they went out on several trope-like dates, but I think because of this I really couldn't find the piece that made it really click for me.
This really did give chaotic bisexual energy, with the FMC not believing in love despite being a romance author.
If you want something cheesy but cute to pass the time, I would suggest giving this book a go!

after multiple attempts at reading- I have decided to DNF. Iโm hoping to return to it in the future but right now iโm unable to connect with the authorโs writing style.

incredible, amazing, show-stopping. a tale of two fools - who totally do not fall in love with each other - partake in romantic quests during christmas in chicago whilst all their friends and family members see right through them. i lovvvve it. and what pushes their romance story that much further is how it encapsulates the idea that you don't need to have your shit together, need to be perfect, or whatever asinine notions people sometimes create, before you believe you are worthy of an all-encompassing love. that's how sawyer lives, "when i have everything figured out and settledโ. until mason crashes in and ruins it <3. he was honestly such a sweetheart, and the way their friendship develops is pure and true, just showcasing you can be 100% yourself and the adoration you swear you havenโt been craving.. sprouts. what a gem of a debut and so perfect for a january release. thank you to NetGalley, Forever, and Erin Connor for providing this eARC!

Romance fans...add this to your TBR!! I loved this debut rom com. It's such a fun tribute to 90s rom com movies and all the tropes. We have Sawyer, a romance writer with writers block and doesn't believe inn romance and Mason, a true romantic. They start off with a great meet cute and decide to help each other out.
There is just so many great moments and all the supporting characters added so much to the story. I could not put this down and devoured it.
Thank you @readforeverpub for a copy of this.

These IDIOTS. I love them so much.
Unromance is about Sawyer, a jaded romance author with writerโs block, and Mason, a hopeless romantic TV star who keeps getting his heart broken. Sawyer is struggling to write her book, and Mason wants romance ruined for him forever. After meeting in a temporarily stuck elevator, the two create a pact that they hope will help them each achieve their goals.
Each chapter is titled with a new trope. That trope coincides with the one Sawyer and Mason are either purposely challenging or unintentionally experiencing for themselves. The MCs set out to ruin these romantic stereotypes, but in the end, they only prove just how special they are. Erin Connor does this in such an endearing way that it makes you absolutely fall in love with the characters.
I will definitely be making an appreciation post sometime in the near future because I just canโt stop thinking about it!
This book is as tender as it is hilarious, as sweet as it is spicy. Add it to your TBR, preorder it - you will NOT regret it!!
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the early e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this super trope-y romance. Sawyer and Mason are just going to hook up and be friends. She doesn't believe in romance and his is ONLY romance. So they make a list. As they should. Clearly proximity and tropes work against their goals and their chemistry wins. I was here for it. All in. Loved the ride.
It was well done and relatable and so much fun. It read fast and kept me engaged when I was sleepy and busy and bouncing from task to task. I definitely recommend.
