Sixth Grave on the Edge is Full of humor, But it’s also an emotional roller coaster. It was more about Charlie’s job more than it was about her and Reyes. I enjoy the books in the series that have more of them together than apart. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.

Loved this one just a little bit less than the previous installment but it's still a fantastic addition to the series. Learning more and more about Reyes and the past that is swirling around is great. Darynda Jones continues to craft addicting mysteries in between the romance and paranormal activity.

I absolutely LOVE Charley, Reyes, Cookie, Ubie, and the rest of the crew! Charley has now gotten herself in more trouble than she usually does! As she looks in to Reyes' past, she not only has to get someone's soul back from the Dealer for them, but she also has to fight the Mexican Cartel. If that isn't enough to give you a headache, she also has to give Reyes an answer and get Ubie to finally ask Cookie out!

Sixth Grave on the Edge had me engrossed from the beginning. There were so many mysteries and surprises through out the whole book. Charley learns that Quinton not only sees auras, but he now sees so much more. The dead naked man who rides with Charley without saying a word or even acknowledging her existence is another mystery to be solved. There's a very steady flow from one mystery and disaster to another. It was not overwhelming, and I couldn't put it down. It does end on a cliffhanger (as they all do). I can't wait to find out what happens next!

What do you do when you are the Grim Reaper and now your engaged to the son of Satan? Celebrate of course! I love this series! The humor, action, and the characters really make this series! They are AMAZING each one of them feel like family! This is a great book and action packed, I can't wait for the next book to see what trouble Charley and her gang of misfits will get into next!

Sixth is the one that gets more paranormal than the previous have been. And this is the book where Reyes is waiting for the answer and Charley enjoys her part as the indecisive maiden, but at the same time she is still the grim reaper, who runs straight toward danger, just so she could help somebody.

AND this is the book, when Charley is expected to know things that she knows nothing about, and when she asks them to tell her about the things she needs to know, they say ‘You’ll know, when the time is right.’- deem it infuriated me, that there is the recipe for problem, especially when Charley is involved.

But otherwise, there is an missing soul and a missing witness and a missing “friend”, and running into an old “friend” and a known “enemy” who might not really be an enemy, and then there is the missing wall and a unexpected flight through air and a GOOD reason to finally give Reyes the answer he is waiting so patiently for.

As always, entertaining and ahaa moments, and a good read

Once again I was hooked into this book from the very beginning. I very much enjoyed this one.

This series is one of my favourites and I know I will be reading it again and again in the future.

It's kind of hard to describe, but Sixth Grave on the Edge doesn't quite mix in the blasé funny as seamlessly as its predecessors. Part of what I've enjoyed about the other books in the series is how well Jones mixes in so many emotions into a well-told series. The series is still well told, and still has its funny moments, but subtly seems to transition into a more somber story. It also leaves several storylines open-ended, which is also a little bit different. All the favorite characters are back plus a new one in The Dealer. While working on multiple cases, Charley also finds time to help Cookie "date" to try and persuade her Uncle Ubie to ask Cookie out - which plays out in typical Charley fashion. It was nice to see appearances by a lot of favorite characters, but I'm interested to see if future books continue in the same fashion as this one.

Review:

Since I read all of the Charley Davidson in one long run, yes, I had not read any of the series yet, I decided to write one review for the previously released books and one for the last book in the series.

First let me say, these are wickedly awesome books! Loved the story line, the writing and the characters. For me it was great to read them all at once and a little sad, since there will not be anymore. One of the things I loved about the books was Charley and her balls to the wall, help whoever, whenever she can attitude. Now that sure got her in lots of trouble, but it was so much fun to read. I loved the snarky witty dialogue and the quotes at the beginning of each chapter cracked me up. Now, it is not all fun and games in this story, there were points when I was crying and points I was on the edge of my seat with the action going on. I have to say on the whole this is one of the best and most well-rounded series I have read where I was not once bored or wanting to put down a book.

I am not sure what this Author has coming next, but she has me on the hook for whatever it is.

5 Big Stars for all of the books in the series

*I voluntarily read reader copies of each book provided by the publisher for review.*

HOLY MOLEY! These books just keep getting better, and better.

Sixth Grave on the Edge is a bit darker, more dangerous (if that's really possible with Charley), it has the depth I was craving regarding Charley and Reyes’ relationship.

This installment brings Charley and Reyes together, like really together. Actually, I would say coming together is the "theme" of this book. We meet a NEW character, it's yet to be seen if he's a good guy or bad. Of course, while Charley's personal life is "taking off," her professional jobs are reaching a new level! A man requests that Charley obtains the soul he sold to the devil. No idea how to complete this job, but I will say it's quite an adventure. The other case she starts working is a LOT more depraved, it may involve crime bosses and FBI informants.

Overall, this is my new favorite Charley Davidson book! It feels like Charley has matured, and not only that, but Reyes has also. One more thing, YAY Cookie... Bring on book 7!

5 'Where Can I Get My Own Reyes?' Stars

Sixth Grave on the Edge is obviously the sixth installment of the Charley Davidson series and cannot be read as a standalone. Each book builds momentum, adding more and more threads, as well as answering questions brought forth in previous books. I strongly suggest reading from the beginning.

Zany, witty, sarcastic, humorous, punny, yet highly emotional, gut-punch darkness. It's not a Charley Davidson novel if someone doesn't die, Charley is nearly killed, we all swoon for Reyes, and all fear for the son of the devil's longevity. As usual, Darynda Jones delivers on all counts.

In this installment, Charley focuses less on detective work and helping out the police department and FBI, and more on personal investigations and personal matters. That kidnapping case from 30 years ago is obviously Reyes. Those men who break into her apartment obviously want Charley to do their bidding or a 'friend' dies in 48-hours. Those ghosts, especially the naked and hung older gentleman riding shotgun in Misery, need constant attention and problem-solving. Even Angel has a secret he's carrying.

Charley is on the case, playacting as Davidson Matchmaking, not Davidson Investigation. Uncle Bob and Cookie needed more than a nudge, as well as keeping young Quinton away from an even younger Amber. Since it's easier to focus on the romance of her nearest and dearest than the Post-It note that simply needs "It's a yes/no, Dutch."

Then there is Reyes, who is on the top of his game. Like seriously, where can I get my own personal Reyes? The son of the devil knows how to court and seduce even the most commitment phobic among us, because of his utter devotion for Charley. I feel like one of his devotees at the bar, waiting for even a glimpse of such a man. Swagger, wit, seduction skills that rival his face and bod, all tied together with the 'hurt little boy' vibe he gives off, Charley is not immune, and neither are the readers.

In the background of all the sleuthing and romancing, Swoops and the Dealer are solving the riddles of the prophesy, with one helluva ending.

More questions arise as previous answers are given. Who the heck is that baby Swoops asks, but Charley and the readers want to know if the baby's father is actually related to Swoops. What's up with Dad, who's acting shady.

What happens next is what I want to know, after that ending, but sadly I have a few books to read before I get the answers, where I'm positive more questions will arise.

I love that these books just seem to be getting better as the series progresses.

What can I say except YES! Finally, with Charley and Reyes.

There are also new characters introduced in this book that add a little something extra.

This series really does keep me turning the pages. It's all getting very exciting.

This is the sixth book in the series, and you absolutely have to read each book in order to understand what is going on! There are smaller side plots which complete within the book, but they still contribute to the bigger picture. The series is such a lovely treat that I am enjoying every minute. One minute I am laughing (often when Cookie is in the room), then worrying over another a revelation about the end of the human race is made. Neither Charley nor I know yet just what her powers are... even though there are lots of hints – I cannot wait until all is revealed.

I love the developing romance between Reyes and Charley, the wall chapter is just fabulous. There is a lot of concern about how their relationship can overcome rather a lot of significant world problems. But Reyes' centuries of knowledge and Charley's human-side naivety make a fabulous counterpoint. I cannot wait to read on and find out what happens next...

Book six in this wonderful paranormal fantasy series done and dusted and I still love it! Nearly halfway through the series now and I hope it never ends.

The sixth installment of the Charley Davidson series is still smoking hot. The backstory of Reyes is explored a bit more by Charley. Cookie gets some special attention. Then there are the paranormal cases, her ghosts to deal with, and the general chaos that surrounds this crazy world! What more can happen?

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the reader copy to review.

Sixth book, read the previous ones first. Lots of serious situations that Charlie is trying to handle in her snarky way. We meet new characters that move the story arc along, more people working together to understand the ancient texts about the future of the world. Some surprises that involve her "friend", boy do the bad guys mess up. Fun read with lots of serious cases.

Sixth Grave on the Edge
By Darynda Jones

4 stars.

Darynda Jones new fiction series combining action, supernatural and romance. Featuring Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people, and it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice.

Most girls might think twice before getting engaged to someone like Reyes Farrow—but Charley Davidson is not most girls. She's a paranormal private eye and grim reaper-in-training who's known to be a bit of a hell-raiser, especially after a few shots of caffeine. Her beloved Reyes may be the only begotten son of evil, but he's dark and sultry and deeply sexy and everything Charley could hope for. Really. But when the FBI file on Reyes' childhood happens to land into her lap, she can't help herself: She opens it...and then the real fun begins. First, Charley finds a naked corpse riding shotgun in her car. Then, a man loses his soul in a card game. Throw in a Deaf boy who sees dead people, a woman running from mobsters, and a very suspicious Reyes, and things can't get any worse for Charley. Unless, of course, the Twelve Beasts of Hell are unleashed…

While not my usual genre, I found the books engaging and face paced to keep me picking up title after title.

ARC Kindly provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have read these books over and over and over, and everytime I read them I fall more in love with it. The only thing that frustrates me is the waiting in between and for the ultimate fight, other than that and is like an addiction.

I am too sad to see this series over, but something tells me this will not be the end at all.

If you haven't read this series, start now, it is just amazing!

Thank you for the early copy.

I recommend this sixth novel of the series to fans of urban fantasy. Another good addition to the already good series.

“Charley,” she said at last, her voice soft, full of fear, “what have you done?”

Gasp!

Oh my goodness much has happened in the world of Charley Davidson.

Because the devil lies to everyone.

They knew that.

The prophecies are clear in wording but vague in meaning.

They knew that.

The end of the world is coming.

They knew that.

But was anyone prepared for that ending?

Nope.

After the dramatic conclusion to FIfth Grave beyond the Light, I could not wait to rejoin fun and feisty Grim Reaper Charley on her next adventure. An encounter with a man who sold his soul leads Charley to a mysterious "Dealer" who knows more about Charley and the mysterious Reyes than either of them is comfortable with, and who seems to be up to some sort of game of his own. Comic relief comes in the form of sidekick Cookie's drastic attempts to secure the attention of Charley's Uncle Bob , and by the end of the book there is a real sense of impending doom. Will Charley's compulsion to save Reyes result in the destruction of the world? Going to have to wait for book seven to find out, but in the meantime this was a fun ride.

What's not to love about Charley and Reyes?

The romance is getting hotter and Charley is trying to figure out her supernatural abilities. We get more of Angel, Amber, Cookie and Ubie.

We get a new character, The Dealer. Who is he? What is he? Will he be part of the "family"?

Darynda Jones is a fantastic storyteller.

So basically, I binge read a bunch of the books in this series. Don’t judge! If you start reading these, you’ll binge read them too!

This one is very good, though maybe not quite as funny/sad as the others. It’s kind of a bridge book, bringing in characters who will prove very important to the series.

Still very good and definitely a must read if you’ve been into this series.

Enjoyed it!

How much trouble can one person get herself into? Really? And the cliff hanger was great and terrible at the same time. Can’t miss this one with all the snark and tribulations that center around Charley. Can’t wait for the next.
