I had trouble enjoying the book after I got to the halfway mark and I realized the romance was going to be rushed. Mylie and Ben barely rekindled their friendship before getting into a friends with benefits situation - the chemistry wasn’t there for me. After not speaking for nearly 10 years, you kinda need to get to know someone again. Ben’s life after leaving Clay Creek was glossed over and we know Mylie is stuck in her small town mindset. I’m sorry but you can’t still be pining over someone you haven’t seen in a decade that you were never with. Her instantly being in her feelings about Ben just felt so fake. The third act breakup was inevitable but also stupid because no one was actually unhonest about anything. I also hate how it was resolved personally because I think we should’ve switched who chased after who.

I was enjoying this book in the beginning like truly enjoying it. There were some cute and funny moments. However the spelling mistakes (Mylie/Miley) and wrong character details (Jodi having a long time boyfriend but then calling Jodi married) it began to get to me. These are easy ways to make sure a book is ready to be read and these mistakes were noticeable enough to give me a pause. I think this book needed more conflict beyond miscommunication, more depth of the characters and more pages to make this story better.

This is a sweet friends to lovers romance set in small town Clay Creek, Arkansas. Mylie has everything she could want, a successful tackle story and a loving relationship with her grandmother and younger sister, Casie. Ben has returned to Clay Creek after years away chasing his dreams. The two immediately reconnect, which I love how the author portrayed that reconnection as adults and their relationship deepening into something more.

This was a light and quick romance read that I enjoyed.

I really wanted to love this book , and while some parts were fun, my feelings overall were mixed.

At first, Ben and Mylie were super cute, but by the end, their chemistry felt off, and I thought Ben should have just gone for his new job. There were also annoying plot holes, like how Jodi’s name was spelled differently at times and the confusing details about her boyfriend/husband.

Then there’s Ryan, Cassie’s ex. After he cheats on her, Mylie suggests Cassie can bring him to family dinners? That made no sense.

I’m still giving it 3 stars because Annie has potential. The story was cute, though it felt a bit messy at times.

For fans of Sarah Adams, be aware this book isn’t clean—it has some rushed scenes that took away from the story. It’s like a “Hallmark Read” where the plot might not hold up if you think too much, but it’s still enjoyable!

I loved the side characters, especially Fat Tony, and wished we had more time with them. The dialogue was fun, even if a bit cringey. The ending surprised me in a good way!

Overall, this book was fun to read!

I enjoyed it but it fell flat to me unfortunately

Let me start with the things I really liked about this story:

Miley and Ben were a cute couple. The story moved quickly and I was easily able to finish it in one day.

The things that stopped me from giving this a full 4 ⭐️ review:

So much miscommunication. So if this is a trope you enjoy, this book is great for you. Personally it’s one of the few tropes that makes it hard for me to enjoy a book. I also felt like the characters could have been flushed out just a bit more.

Overall this is a solid read, and I am open to reading more from this author in the future.

While the slow-burn romance has sweet flashbacks, the chemistry between Mylie and Ben sometimes feels forced. Despite this, the book’s wit, nostalgic touch, and small-town charm make it an enjoyable read for fans of lighthearted, feel-good romance stories.

3.5 rounded up. This was cute, and there's a lot to like about the small town, about Mylie, and about Ben. There were a few continuity errors in the uncorrected proof (mostly having to do with Morris and alcohol) but the heart of the story is fun. Would take more back story about Ben.

Mylie and Ben are old high school friends that went separate ways after graduating high school. When Ben comes back into town to sell his childhood home the two reconnect and work through what a relationship could look like for them from there.
If you're a lover of small town romance, this one is definitely for you. Clay Creek and its residents were very lovable.
I consider this one of those Hallmark movie kind of books. It's an easy read and you know how it will end, but you enjoy it anyway.

This was a cute story, but it felt a little underdeveloped. Ben and Mylie didn't feel exactly right for each other, in the sense that there was just chemistry missing from them. The slow burn and arguments just provided me with a feeling like they weren't a good match. I'm also not the biggest fan of third person POV, but that's okay! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

This book by Annie Noblin did not disappoint. I absolutely gobbled this one up. Ben and Mylie are your classic story of second-chance love. I'm a sucker for small-town romances, so I knew I'd enjoy this one.

The story has a dual timeline: present-day and then flashbacks of the past. I loved getting a glimpse into Ben and Mylie's younger days. As a reader, you witness the missed chance at love alongside the second shot.

I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a friends-to-lovers rom-com. It's an easy but delightful read. 3.5 stars, rounding up!

Ok I’m going to be very honest. I really really wanted to enjoy this book 😭, and at parts I did. In fact my emotions towards this book kinda went like 📈📉📉📉📉 if that makes sense.

Like in the beginning I was eating them up. Ben and Mylie were so cute, but by the end it felt like they had no chemistry and Ben would have been better off going to his new job.

Plus there were many plot holes, like Jodi’s name firstly. Like part of the time it was spelt “Jodi” and the other part of the time it’s spelt “Jodie”???

And then Jodi’s boyfriend/husband. In the beginning it is emphasized that Jodi’s mom is trying to set her up with “Dr” Ben because she has been dating her boyfriend for four years and he still hasn’t proposed. But then during the set up for the competition, Jodi refers to him as her husband….???

And lastly Ryan aka Cassie’s boyfriend/ex. During the book, Cassie gets cheated on by Ryan, and it’s a whole big deal. Like a huge plot point, in fact Ryan goes on to date another girl, and Mylie states to Cassie that there is nothing wrong with her. She thinks Ryan will probably cheat on this girl too because that’s just his personality. Anyways by the end of the book, like the last chapter when they are all hanging at Ben’s house, Cassie asks why Mylie gets to have her boyfriend at family dinners (which honestly was the stupidest comment I’ve ever heard but anywho) and Mylie tells her she can bring RYAN???????? next time????

Like okay I get it, there’s gonna be problems because it’s an ARC but not huge plot holes like that….?

But yes I’m still rating it 3 stars which is in my recommended zone of star range because I think Annie has lots of potential as a writer. This story just went from slightly overdone but still cute (in fact she was pulling it off) to okay girl calm down it’s turning into a Wattpad story.

PS: I also must add for the Sarah Adams’ clean book lover girlies that this book is not in anyway clean. There is at least 3-4 sex scenes. They are super rushed and honestly took away from the book, soooo yes just keep that in mind if this caught your eye do to the “for fans of Sarah Adams”.

I think this is more of a "I'm the problem, not you" situation. Spring Fling is a breezy, small-town second chance/friends-to-lovers romcom. I'm not a huge fan of either of those tropes (and especially not the miscommunication trope), and I think I was feeling that more and more as I read this one. But overall the plot was cute, the pacing was perfect, and it's an overall lighthearted read. Definitely give this a try, as it might work better for you than it did for me!

Spring Fling is a sweet small town romance. I loved the old friends to lovers trope. You will fall in love with the FMC, Mylie. She is strong, loving and confident. Her friendship with the MMC, Benjamin, is very relatable!

I received an advanced e copy of Spring Fling for review. I immediately fell in love with the characters and loved the past and present views in the book. This was a perfect romance that could definitely have a follow up book. I'm invested in Mylie and Ben's story.

Small-town, high school friends reconnect and fall back in love years later. Cute plot, enjoyed the small town setting, side characters had a lot of personality, multiple challenges that wrapped up fairly well at the end.

However, the two main characters fell a little flat, we don’t really know why they fall back in love except for the fact that they secretly loved each other 10 years ago. Wish we could have seen more of them re-getting to know each other.

Also, I know this is not a completed published book yet, BUT way too many editing errors for me. The main character’s name is spelled wrong as the first word of chapter 1. The friend’s name is spelled wrong in at least 3 chapters (15, 37, 43) and probably more I just didn’t noticed. These are your characters, how could you misspell their names?

And a few details changed while reading, which I don’t love. At one point she says that the Lawrence’s owned this house forever but then we learn that the grandpa moved in the 90’s so which is it? She also says that Jodi is dating someone but then they say that they’re married. Again, which is it? Don’t include plot points that you can’t remember later on.

Overall, this book kept me engaged which is why it’s a 3 and not 2 star, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to read it.

Spring Fling is a second chance romance between Mylie, a small business owner in Clay Creek and Ben who returns to Clay Creek to sell his families home. Ben and Mylie were best friends from 6th to 12th grade and Ben left for college and never looked back. Ben returns to sell his families home so that he can start a new life in Boston as a professor like he's always wanted. Ben and Mylie get to know each other again, will they be able to find a way to stay together this time?

This book was a sweet and fun southern romance. There were multiple storylines that popped up at the end of the book that weren't necessary or didn't further the plot. It was enjoyable and I loved that Mylie was such a strong FMC and the supporting cast of characters really made this book. Recommend if you enjoy a small town second chance romance!

I enjoyed this book, as a light romance read. I felt like a third of the way it started getting harder to read, and had to take breaks in between to get a fresh set of eyes on it. It does feel like a lot of story lines coming together, and it’s hard to keep track with the flashback sequences.
