This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, constantly wondering if a happily ever after is truly in the cards or if heartbreak is inevitable. Around the 70% mark, the story takes such unexpected turns that I actually found myself gasping out loud.
Jewel masterfully weaves a tale filled with angst and sorrow, yet somehow manages to steer it toward healing and redemption. Watching the characters navigate their new realities and find solace in one another is both heart-wrenching and heartwarming.
Fitz, a dedicated smoke jumper, has built his life around his work, avoiding emotional vulnerability and the risk of love. Enter Jaymes, a spirited travel nurse who moves into the fourth bedroom of their shared house. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their witty banter is pure gold. But with the house rule of “no romantic involvement with roommates” looming over them, the allure of the forbidden becomes almost irresistible.
Fitz’s journey of personal growth and opening up to Jaymes about his past is beautifully written. Their connection deepens as they become each other’s confidants, and it’s genuinely touching to see how they support and heal one another.
If you’re looking for a story packed with tough choices, emotional rollercoasters, healing, and love, this book delivers it all.

Jamie Andrews is a young traveling nurse who is passionate about helping others in need. She finds herself sharing a house temporarily with firefighter roommates.
I found the story refreshing and interesting from the beginning. That’s where she meets the grumpy hot firefighter called Calvin. He was interesting and I found I really liked him. What started as fun and games, enemies became a game of love that neither one was prepared for.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. I was wanting to read as fast as possible because I knew there was a twist and I was not wrong. I was completely shocked and truly did not see it coming.
Readers who enjoy enemies to lovers stories will find this book appealing.

Average. Fitz ground my nerves into the pits. The book archived on netgalley and was available on KU with audio so that was great. (I'm sorry I'm so late reviewing but life kicked my tail, brain surgery does that to you). The narrators were great. I love Jamie, but foe some reason Fitz just wasn't my favorite character and I couldn't connect. I do want to read more by this author.

Wow! This story is sweet, emotional and ohhh so darn good! I truly enjoyed this journey! This was a story about falling in love, finding out about your past and figuring out how to make it better for your future. Traveling nurse Jaymes has a new assignment, new roommates and she is about to learn a lot about herself. Calvin is a smoke jumper, he is a bit of a grump and doesn’t talk much about his past. These two have instant chemistry and really fun banter. But there is a roommate rule…roommates are not allowed to sleep together…or else. But boy do you want these two together! They truly belong together. But we have obstacles, like really big ones. Can Calvin and Jaymes survive this emotional journey? This book was soo darn good. The characters had great depth and amazing back stories that added an extra dimension to their story. A story that was a journey that I’m so happy I took. I’m excited about this series and I’m ready to watch it grow.

I’m struggling with the rating for this one. I liked it but there was some things I didn’t like and it took me a while to read it.
What I did like…
I liked the characters and the feeling of family between them.
I liked that she was a traveling nurse and he was a firefighter.
I loved the banter between the fmc and the mmc.
What I didn’t like….
The storyline was a little too far fetched for me.
Alrhough the twists were unexpected, they felt too contrived.
The your my person part when clearly they weren’t each orhers person that quickly.
I am still curious to read the author’s other works, and am thankful to the author and Valentine PR for the chance to read this ARC.

I have read just about everything form this author. I am so excited she ventured into the firefighter world. I was getting a repetitive feeling from some of her recent titles. this book makes up for all of that.
We meet Jamie--a traveling nurse and her new roommates in Montana. Rule of the house is: don't date your roommate. Calvin tries hard to not fall for her. Jamie tries hard to get him to fall. But alas, it would not be a Jewel E Ann book without some major twists and turn. Both main characters have a past. Both of this wanting to live in the present and not share all those awful details. But when the present and the past collide unexpectedly----there is some DRAMA!
Loved the world building. Loved the fire fighting team and the roommates were AWESOME!! The epilogue was wonderful! I can't wait to read book #2

If there’s one things that a guarantee with Jewel’s writing, it’s that she will have you in your feels, and this book was no exception. From the get go you have some of the best banter I have ever read which will literally have you squealing with delight! The witty back and forth was just written to perfection, and there was so much chemistry and angst that when they finally do get together, you can literally feel the sparks jumping off the pages! If these were real people, they would literally have been made for one another.
I was captivated by their story from the very first chapter, and didn’t want to put it down until I had reached the end! It’s a love story filed with twists and turns that will have you swooning one second and crying into your pillow the next! Or maybe that’s just me!
This is one of my favourite romance reads this year

I actually really love this! I think I was in just the right mood for something a little sad and angsty, with some surprising twists in there. Jaymes Andrews is a traveling nurse, setting out to see the world when her mom has passed away. She doesn’t have much family left except for her best friend Melissa, but she’s eager to spread her wings and grow. She rents a house in Missoula, Montana, where she lives with 3 roommates. One of them is Calvin Fitzgerald, a smoke jumper. He’s cranky and focused on his job, adamant about not having a family after the tragic death of his parents and sister. Jaymes and Fitz can’t help but fall for each other, but before their HEA, they have to face lots of secrets and have some honest conversations.
Loved the heart wrenching scenes, the sadness they both carry but how they’re the key to each other’s new life. Really would like a future epilogue!

From Air is the first book in the ‘Wildfire’ series by Jewel E. Ann.

“She’s the breathtaking horizon. The canopy that slows my fall. The perfect place to land. She’s the quietude after the last flame dies.”
I absolutely loved this book! It’s so different from what I usually read. Jamie, a fearless and adventurous travel nurse, moves in with Montana firefighters and becomes captivated by Calvin Fitzgerald, the grumpy yet irresistible smokejumper. Their banter was phenomenal—you could feel the tension simmering between them, which slowly transformed into undeniable attraction.
Their dynamic was complicated by the house rule: no sleeping with roommates. But Jamie’s resilience and Calvin’s vulnerability made for a beautifully angsty slow-burn romance. I adored Jamie’s character—her bravery and openness to new experiences despite her past hardships were inspiring. Meanwhile, Calvin, whose life revolved around work, couldn’t resist Jamie’s charm and found himself opening up in ways he never expected.
The chemistry between them was electric, and the romance blended perfectly with the plot. Calvin’s guarded nature softened around Jamie, and it was heartwarming to see him laugh and enjoy life because of her. Both characters had to confront their own issues before they could fully commit to each other, making their love story even more satisfying.
The side characters were fantastic, and I’m so excited to read their stories in future books. This story is packed with angst, twists, and a romance that will have you hooked from start to finish. If you love emotional, slow-burn romances, add this one to your TBR—you won’t regret it!
Thank you, Valentine PR & Jewel E. Anne for the advance copy.

Jewel E. Ann writes another winner. Jaymes is a traveling nurse who ends up in a house with some hotshot firefighters. Calvin is a grumpy anti-relationship guy. These two have great banter and quickly fall for each other. Of course there is a twist in there that surprises you. Great read!

Jewel E. Ann has done it again with From Air, delivering a beautifully written romance that captivates from start to finish. As my second novel by this talented author, I was utterly impressed by her ability to craft a story brimming with heart, humor, and depth.
The character development in this novel was spot on, with Will and Maren feeling incredibly authentic and relatable. Their banter was witty, their chemistry electric, and every interaction had me smiling, laughing, or swooning. I found myself completely immersed in their journey, cheering for their love and feeling every emotion along the way.
This book is a shining example of why Jewel E. Ann's writing is so beloved—her storytelling is magnetic, and her characters linger in your heart long after the final page. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of this series and see what she has in store. Highly recommended for romance lovers looking for a story that hits all the right notes!

In this engaging romance, Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, moves in with a group of daring firefighters in rural Montana. She becomes intrigued by Calvin, a mysterious and gruff smoke jumper. Their playful banter soon ignites into a secret romance, but Calvin's hidden past looms over them. As Jamie delves deeper into his secrets, she must decide if their fiery connection will lead to a lasting love or end in heartbreak. A captivating read!

I fell in love with her writing style when I read Sunday Morning earlier this year, and was so so looking forward to reading more. From Air was out of this world!!! I loved the banter between these two characters. This was hands down some of the best banter I have seen in books, I loved the subtle revenge moments and how they would plot against one another. The build up and slow burn to their moment together was perfection. The anticipation I had leading up to every moment between Calvin and Jamie was crazy. And the PLOT TWIST!! This came out of left field and threw me for a loop like no other!! I promise you will not be disappointed reading From Air!

I recently finished From Air by Jewel E. Ann, and I have to say, it was quite the ride! This romance novel centers around Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, and Calvin, a grumpy smokejumper with a complicated past. Their journey together is both heartwarming and filled with tension, making it a captivating read.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the dynamic banter between Jamie and Calvin. Their witty exchanges had me laughing out loud at times, and I appreciated how their playful interactions deepened their connection. The grumpy/sunshine trope is one of my favorites, and Jewel E. Ann executed it brilliantly. Jamie’s light-heartedness perfectly contrasts Calvin’s serious demeanor, creating a compelling push and pull that kept me hooked.
The emotional depth of the story really resonated with me as well. The author doesn’t shy away from exploring the characters' traumatic backgrounds, which adds significant layers to their personalities. I found myself truly invested in their journey toward healing and love. The dual POV format allowed me to dive into both characters' thoughts and feelings, making their struggles and triumphs feel even more intimate.
While I enjoyed many aspects of the plot, I did notice that it leaned into some familiar romance tropes—like roommates to lovers and a ten-year age gap. However, Jewel E. Ann managed to refresh these elements with her unique storytelling style. The pacing felt just right, leading to a satisfying climax that kept me on my toes.
That said, there were moments where the story veered into melodrama, which might not appeal to everyone. A few plot developments felt predictable, but the emotional impact still hit home for me.
Overall, From Air is an entertaining read that beautifully combines humor, heartache, and romance. If you enjoy contemporary romance with complex characters and emotional depth, I highly recommend picking this one up!

𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗕: Jamie, a traveling nurse, has taken a job as a psychiatric nurse in rural Montana. She moves in with a house of firefighters & the number one rule is to not become intimately involved with any of the other roommates. However, Jamie is naturally drawn to her grumpy & closed off roommate, Calvin. They playfully joke around & mess with each other, but Calvin has closed himself off to any romantic relationships due to his tragic past. Jamie & Calvin grow close & Jamie wants to know more. Calvin doesn’t reveal his past to anyone till Jamie enters his life & slowly influences him to break down his walls.
𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: I am in LOVE with this book! I binged it & found myself staying up till 4am to finish this book because I literally could not put it down. The slow burn, angst, & tension between Jamie & Calvin was 🔥🔥. The secrets revealed in this one will have your jaw dropped to the floor. Both Calvin & Jamie’s pasts will have your eyes filled with tears. This one pulled so many different emotions out of me & I love when a book can do that! This one may put you on an emotional roller coaster, but I promise you it is soooo worth it!

Wow! From Air is a master class on undeniable chemistry and sexy banter. It’s also a story of healing and forgiveness, growth in midst of deep rooted fears and pain, and learning to love, especially when the chance to love “your person” comes around.
Jaymes Andrews is a psychiatric travel nurse who has taken a job in Missoula, Montana. When she arrives at the rental, she discovers she not only has one roommate, but three, including Calvin Fitzgerald, a grumpy, closed off smoke jumper. She’s drawn to him in an inexplicable way, and he to her in a way he’d rather deny. The rule is “no sex with a roommate”, but these two can’t seem to help themselves, their connection is too great, their flame too hot. They say it’s not forever, just a short while, but when the smoke clears, the damage is far greater than either can imagine.
Nothing, and I mean, nothing can make me love a book more than a damaged, grumpy, closed off hero with a sharp witted tongue and Fitz is that and SO much more! More than that, I eat up a book with a heroine to match! A strong, sassy woman with a comeback; a button pusher of epic proportions, especially if it will pry a smile out of a stoic man, and Jayme is the epitome of this woman. These two characters are explosive together! With one liners that have you cheesing and blushing throughout, I am in love with their story!
But this is a story by Jewel E. Ann so, you know heartache and healing is coming! I was ready! Only, I wasn’t! The twist in this story…never in my wildest dreams! It had me hurting for the revelations discovered and rooting for the healing of each character. It had me hoping for the happily ever after and the realization that when you find “your person” you can get through anything.

I’ve never read a firefighter romance before, so I was really excited to dive into this book. After finishing it, I can definitely say I’ll be picking up more books in this subgenre in the future. However, this one probably won’t be my favorite.
The premise of a firefighter and a travel nurse is intriguing, and I loved the set-up. But while their troubled pasts draw them together, the twist that occurs midway through the book felt a bit far-fetched, which made it harder for me to fully connect with the story.
I absolutely adored Calvin, the male main character. He was definitely the highlight for me. However, I had a hard time getting behind the relationship between him and Jamie. I love a good banter-filled dynamic, but when the entire foundation of the relationship relies on that banter, I start to feel a little disconnected.
Jewel E. Ann is undeniably a talented writer, and I will certainly read more of her work, but From Air just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Jewel E. Ann delivers yet another masterpiece with From Air, blending emotional depth with sizzling chemistry and vivid storytelling. This contemporary romance takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and the unrelenting pull of love between two people who couldn’t be more different yet perfectly matched.
Jamie, a sheltered and compassionate woman from Florida, embarks on a journey to broaden her horizons after the loss of her mother. As a traveling nurse, her first assignment takes her to a small town in rural Montana, where she rents a room from three rugged firefighters. Among them is Fritz, short for Calvin Fitzgerald, a stoic and enigmatic smokejumper whose job involves leaping into wildfires to extinguish them before they spiral out of control.
Jamie’s nurturing nature compels her to fix what’s broken in others, while Fritz’s aloof demeanor and guarded personality only deepen her curiosity about him. Despite warnings from her other roommates to steer clear of Fritz, Jamie finds herself drawn to him, and their initial wariness ignites into an undeniable, passionate connection.
he chemistry between Jamie and Fritz is electric, their interactions charged with tension and vulnerability. As they try to resist their mutual attraction, their bond grows stronger, forcing them to confront their personal wounds and emotional barriers. Jamie’s warmth and determination to heal those around her complement Fritz’s brooding and self-imposed isolation. Together, they become each other’s wildfire and salve—a beautiful contradiction that burns and heals in equal measure.
Jewel E. Ann’s prose is heartfelt and evocative, drawing readers into the vivid world she creates. Her ability to infuse emotion into every scene makes Jamie and Fritz’s journey deeply immersive. The duality of fire—as both a destructive force and a source of warmth—is a recurring metaphor that perfectly encapsulates their turbulent yet tender relationship.

"From Air" by Jewel E. Ann left me breathless and speechless! After discovering Jewel's writing a couple months ago, I knew I had to dive into more of her works. This book exceeded expectations.
Jamie Andrews, a psychiatric nurse, moves to Montana for a fresh start, joining a household of fire rescue personnel, including enigmatic Fitz. Their banter-filled beginning had me hooked.
What captivated me:
- Well-developed side characters, setting the stage for an exciting series
- Perfect blend of humor, suspense, and emotional depth
-Their complicated pasts and vulnerable moments created and unforgettable bond
- Jewel's masterful emotional manipulation – I was emotionally invested, experiencing every twist and turn
This book expertly balances lighthearted moments with heart-wrenching twists. I couldn't put it down! I highly recommend Jewel E. Ann has secured her spot on one of my favorite authors list. I eagerly await the next installment in this captivating series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC of this book.
I have really loved most of the books that I've read from this author, and this was no exception. This book is about Jaymes, a travel nurse who has just moved to Montana after losing her mother to cancer. She ends up renting a room with roommates as she’ll only be there for 6 months. She sets her focus on Fitz, the grumpy and “broken” roommate.
I loved both of these characters, and found them incredibly endearing and real. So often in romance books, readers are left wondering why these two individuals really belong together, and why we care. I had none of these thoughts when considering Jaymes and Fitz - they are just right for the other.
This book gave me the same vibes as A Place Without You by Jewel, with more mature characters and higher stakes.
I am highly anticipating the next book in the series, Maren’s book!
