🇬🇧 This book started off really strong—I devoured the first half in two days! The writing was great, the podcast element was an interesting touch, and the tension in the first chapters had me completely hooked. However, when I reached the halfway point, I felt the plot slowed down and became repetitive. It turned into more of a crime drama than a thriller, and to be honest, I started to get bored. The twists also weren’t surprising—if you’ve read a few thrillers, you’ll probably guess the plot twist by chapter 20 like I did (there are 100 chapters…). The characters, in general, had underdeveloped arcs, and I felt like I didn’t really get to know any of them. Despite these critiques, the writing still kept me engaged with the story. In summary: overall, I liked the book, enjoyed the podcast element, but found it repetitive and predictable. If you're a fan of thrillers with podcasts, this book is for you!

Poe Webb hosts a popular podcast, where she invites people to confess their crimes to the world, anonymously, however bad. But one person comes on her show with a claim that shakes her to her core: that he’s the man who murdered her mother 17 years ago while she watched helplessly. But Poe doesn’t want to believe him, because if that’s true, then she murdered an innocent man as revenge. As the man’s demands ramp up, it’s clear he won’t stop until he gets to Poe herself in a final confrontation.
This book was an amazing ride from start to finish. The suspense was just dialed up to 11 and didn’t let go until the end. I couldn’t stop reading. I was so hooked. From the central mystery of the caller’s identity to what was going to happen to Poe and her “entourage,” through this whole mess, I was hooked as each new turn came and went. The pages flew by.
I had sort of guessed part of the twist, but the sign of a good book is that it keeps your interest because you have to see how the rest of it will play out, and I NEEDED to know how things were going to go. And if I was right, because I wasn’t even sure. So I definitely didn’t mind that I had guessed. The book wasn’t spoiled at all. It was just a little bump on the way.
And Poe was 100 percent worth rooting for. She was deeply damaged and just trying to make it through. That made me feel more connected to her because she wasn’t some perfect heroine. She was a “normal” woman who had problems and dealt with them poorly like the rest of us sometimes do. I mean, hers were obviously exaggerated for entertainment purposes, but the idea is there.
Overall, this is a great mystery/thriller for anyone who is a fan of the genre. Pick this one up ASAP!

I was disappointed with this one. I just couldn't get into it as it was too slow for me and I ended up DNF'ing it at 28%. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I won't leave a bad review on my accounts because I don't feel I can do that if I don't read the whole book!

This book sucked me in from the very beginning and never let go. Fast paced and different from any other thriller I've read. I love the podcast concept and how realistic the story is. I LOVED this book- an easy 5 stars!
Thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the advanced copy.

Dnf after 22%. Not what I expected... Boring, slow, the story didn't capture me at all. Very disappointed

Creepy, terrifying, and mind twisting

Hello everyone my name is Poe Webb and my podcast is the top ranked crime podcast in the country where, I invite the public to come on and confess their crimes with no idea of each guest's crime until they tell me.
For 17 years, I've been holding on for a secret that nobody knows and I think soon the whole world will. 17 years ago, I witnessed my mother's murder and now it is all coming back to me and WHY??? Because a person admitting to being my mother's killer is currently on my podcast but it can't be because he's dead and you know how I know he's dead? Because I killed him!!!!
I get people to confess their crimes and he knows I'm hiding a terrible secret and for the first time I have to be the subject of my own show.
What a terrifying rollercoaster the book was!!! It's my first time reading a book that is intense with creepy and toxic characters. Poe's character is what you call morally gray so there's many ups and downs in her character throughout the book. As for the killer, OMG I wanted to kill him he's seriously damaged and ugly and reading what he did made my stomach ache.
The plot twist at the end wasn't expected at all, I had my theories but none of them were true which was good otherwise I would be disappointed.
All in all it was a thrilling read and it would make an incredible movie.
Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of #TellMeWhatYouDid in exchange for my honest review.

This was a unique thriller that I would recommend! The concept of a podcast where people anonymously confess is a great idea for a book and it kept me entertained. The middle of the book seemed to drag on a bit, but overall a great read! Thanks to netgalley for the arc.

The premise of this book was fun. Poe is a witty, fierce female protagonist who runs a true crime podcast where guests can anonymously confess to crimes. This serves as some sort of therapy/penance for her past trauma of witnessing her mother’s murder as a teenager. When a guest calls to confess to her mother’s murder, she knows something is off… because she already found her mother’s killer. And she killed him. This book was fast paced and easy to read. I liked Poe’s narration, but I found her decisions frustrating at times. She was quick to shut out her boyfriend and father, who both want to help, and often chooses to drink too much even when she knows she’s in danger. Regardless, the cat and mouse between Poe and her villain is fun, and there was a good twist I didn’t see coming. I give it 4 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the author for an advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Tell Me What You Did is a perfect novel for fans of true crime podcasts and morally ambiguous main characters. Bonus points for Bailey the dog and Grimm the cat.

Tell Me What You Did is a fast paced, physiological murder mystery that kept me hooked from the beginning. I loved the podcast element that gives a look into Poe’s past and kept me guessing the whole way through. This is a high stakes story, one that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Poe has a popular podcast in which she invites guests to come on and confess to their crimes without having to reveal their identities, just their voice. However, one evening a guest joins and claims to be behind her mother’s tragic murder she witnessed years ago. But Poe knows that’s impossible..because, she killed him herself. So, who is this man, and why does he know all the details including this secret she has been carrying?
When I tell you this book was a ROLLERCOASTER I mean it! It took me a while to finish it because I read at night and kept getting so scared 🫣 The concept of this story had me captivated right away from Poe’s podcast and then I wanted to know the truth of who this mysterious man was and what really happened.
If you’re looking for a psychological thriller that will have your heart pounding and your mind reeling, this is the one! Carter did such a great job with the characters and some of his details were so eerie and disturbing but it made for a great story!

A truly gripping thriller that creeped me out in the best way possible. I loved the flow of the book and how it was formatted. Listening to a lot of podcasts also helped me enjoy the story. This is my second Carter Wilson book and I plan on reading more.

A thriller book about a true crime podcast!? Sign me up!! I really enjoyed this unique story. The MC has an important roll in finding killers but what secrets is she hiding? I love this!

This was CREEPY. Wow. I absolutely loved this one & could not put it down. Left me checking the house to see if there was anyone there!

Tell Me What You Did is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. Its unique premise, flawed characters, and twisted plot make it a standout in the genre. While it may not be an easy read at times, the payoff is worth the investment. The novel's climax is both shocking and satisfying, and the epilogue provides a surprising perspective that adds a whole new layer of depth to the story. If you enjoy books that will keep you up all night, guessing until the very end, then "Tell Me What You Did" is the perfect choice.

Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson was straight-up wild. This thriller had me in a chokehold from page one—like, the twists? Insane. The vibe was super tense, and the unreliable characters kept me second-guessing everything. It’s giving trust issues, but in the best way.
Some parts dragged a little, but overall, this book slaps. If you’re into fast-paced mysteries that leave you shook, add this to your TBR ASAP. Major thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Wow! I’m late to the Carter Wilson party but so happy to be here. Fresh new take on podcast thrillers. Great characters that kept me flipping pages long into the night. Tense and exciting. I loved it.
Thank you NetGalley, Carter Wilson and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this cracker of a book.

I could not turn the pages fast enough! This book is sinister, gripping and wickedly addictive.
Poe is a true crime podcaster who interviews people who want to anonymously confess their crimes. Her podcast is called Tell Me What You Did. But the tables are turned when a creepy looking man, Ian Hindley, calls into the show. He demands a livestream on her podcast where he will be expecting Poe to do the confessing. She must agree to his terms or her loved ones will suffer.
The plotting is fast-paced, dark and brilliantly creative. I haven’t read a thriller this good in a very long time. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Thank you, NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the eARC.
