Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson is an intriguing read, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The premise is interesting, and the story does have its moments, but I found the pacing a bit slow at times, especially with the interview sections. They seemed to interrupt the flow and made it harder to stay fully engaged.

That being said, I wouldn’t call it a bad book—it definitely has potential. I think the experience might be different on audiobook, where the story could flow more naturally with the right narration. I’m willing to give it another chance in that format, as I feel like the pacing might improve and I could enjoy the story more. Worth a read if you enjoy slower-paced thrillers, but personally, I think the audiobook might suit me better!

This book was predictable for me. I solely read most thrillers so I am very good with predictability. The characters were just okay. Nothing spectacular. The plot wasn't very different. I think I'm growing tired of all the books that take place with a pod caster it is overdone at this point.

Thank you to netgalley and to the publishers for this arc copy. I thought this was a really good book I was nervous at first I’m not a huge fan of the whole podcast trope anymore but I’m happy I gave this one a chance . I loved the short and simple chapters it makes it super easy to stop and pick up and not be confused because you stopped half way through a chapter. I podcast trop that he did I thing was different then anything I’ve read I feel so that was another plus . I was entertained for most of the book I just do feel it dragged on at some points when I don’t think it needed to that’s why I gave it 4 stars. I will be getting more of this authors books to put on the TBR

This has to be one of the most fascinating thrillers I've read in a while. This is perfect for the fans of None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell, if you really liked the podcast aspect of it. This book defines morally grey characters. The mystery is supercharged and damn interesting. You'll keep reading way past your bedtime to know what happens. It deserves all the stars just for being so entertaining!

4 stars out of 5.

I really enjoyed reading this book and was pulled in from the start. I like how the book kept shifting from present day to the podcast. I did find the big reveal to be predictable but I still enjoyed reading the book. The short chapters kept me wanting to reading on and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced thriller.

In Tell Me What You Did, we meet Poe, who runs a true crime podcast where people can confess their crimes anonymously. One day, a man on the podcast tells Poe he was the one who killer her mother all those years ago. She didn't believe him because she already killed that man a few years ago. So who is this person on her show that has intimate details of her mothers killing? Some of the details he knows, could only come from the killer. Poe learns she is in real danger as the man gets closer to her, even threatening her family and friends.

Well this is one that pulled me in and kept me reading so well, that I finished in one day. I started early afternoon and ended up not going to bed until I got the conclusion. At this point, I really wonder what a podcast like this would be like. Imagine listening to a podcast where you just hear a voice confessing to a crime they committed at some point, somewhere! You don't have a name, unless they choose to give one and you don't see them.

Now I'm sure there would be the problem of people just making up things because they want to be famous, but the rest? You might actually have the opportunity to figure out what happened to love ones if the responsible party calls in.

When Poe started getting a confession from someone claiming to be the man who killed her mother as a child, she's confused. (Since as far as she knows, she killed that person) Yet she needs to keep talking to this caller to figure out who he is and what he wants. Did she possibly kill the wrong person? Or is this just someone who read up on her story to be an annoying troll?

I do admit, my initial suspicions were incorrect, which I always love. I get bored easily if I can figure it out really early on and this one, held my attention. I have already started looking at what else this author has out there and what is to come.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and it only took a few days to read. I think this is going to be a good book club option for several clubs. I plan recommending to my book friends and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Poe is the host of a true crime podcast where people anonymously confess their crimes. When one of her guests claims to be the man who killed her mother, Poe is forced to revisit her past and a secret she’s long buried. How can this man be her mother’s murderer, when Poe killed him herself?

This book takes places around Halloween, making it the perfect creepy read for October. The chapters are short and the story is fast paced. The twist isn’t shocking but the build up of tension between Poe and her mystery guest will keep you turning the pages.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

This book was so atmospheric and creepy. The October/Halloween setting was perfect, the cat and mouse game between Poe & Ian was suspenseful, and the short chapters were just the icing on the cake. It was fast paced and so well-written! I devoured this one in two days because I just had to know what was going to happen. One of my top thrillers I’ve read this year!

Poe has a podcast and she interviews people who confess their crimes.
Then it is Poe's turn to confess - but she has been forced to do so by her stalker.

This is a dark thriller. But totally gripping. The suspense kept me turning the pages late into the night.

I recommend.
4/5 stars from me

Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson is a dark and gripping psychological thriller. Poe Webb, a podcast host specializing in anonymous crime confessions, faces her worst nightmare when a caller claims to be the man who murdered her mother—a man she knows is already dead because she killed him herself. As Poe delves deeper, she must confront her own secrets while the line between truth and deception blurs. This book keeps you on edge with its suspenseful twists and intense narrative.

Tell Me What You Did is the second book I have read by Carter Wilson. I enjoyed settling back into his writing style which is tense and hard to put down, and keeps the pages turning. This is the story of Poe Webb, a 30 year old podcaster whose show has recently become very successful. Named "Tell Me What You Did," on her show Poe invites criminals to call in and confess their crimes.

She doesn't guarantee them anything but time to talk, and often her guests are later found because of listener tips to law enforcement. But Poe has a big secret and someone knows. When they turn the tables on Poe, she has to start confessing before it is too late.

I'm so glad I went into this one without reading much of the synopsis or any reviews. I had a blast and read this so quickly. If you're in the mood for a quick thriller that is full of tension and plays with the podcast, unlikeable MC tropes- this one does all of that and manages to keep it fresh.

The premise is interesting but unfortunately I was only able to read 50% and choosing to dnf. The chapters were short and easy to read, but a lot of the information could have been left out. It made the book very long and repetitive. I did skip to the end however to see how it ended, which was disappointing.

Let me start by saying that I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I began reading this book. Carter Wilson in an auto-buy author for me so it goes without saying that I will read the next book, and the next, and the next. (Although I just said it!) This book was fast-paced, petrifying, interesting, and full of creative talent.

Poe Webb is a podcast host who brings in those who want to confess a crime that they have committed. She can’t guarantee that the authorities won’t hear it, but people come on the show and it can make them famous instantly. Sometimes people just need their 15 minutes of fame, at any cost.

One day, a creepy guy calls in and claims to be the person who murdered Poe’s mother seventeen years ago. However, Poe knows this can’t be right; the killer is already dead. She knows this because she has a secret of her own; she killed her mother’s murderer. She allows him on the show and the head games begin. He wants her to confess to HER crime. Talk about turning the tables!

The plot thickens as the caller doesn’t just stop at the podcast interview, he wants to make Poe’s life miserable and then end her life. The game of cat and mouse begins. Poe must have a difficult talk with her father. He doesn’t want to relive anything but it’s imperative that she confess the truth of what happened 17 years ago. He also needs to know the truth about the slaying of the suspect years after her mother’s death. This caller is coming after her and everyone she loves.

The vivid descriptions of the violent acts in this book are terrifying. At one point, Wilson transported me to another dimension, as I could visualize the scenes the same as watching them firsthand. I had to pull myself back to the reality that I was sitting on my own couch reading. Wild!

In the middle of the book, during a conversation, we get a short recap of what was going on. This was great because if there was any misunderstanding of what was happening so far, it’s now clearly understood by the reader. The conclusion gave great closure and made sense. Another fabulous thriller that should definitely make it to the big screen or a limited series. There is so much here that it would be a shame not to use it for more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC of this book.

I really, really enjoyed this book! Tell Me What You Did is an unputdownable thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Carter Wilson weaves a dark and chilling tale centered around Poe Webb, the morally grey antihero and host of the popular true crime podcast, Confess to Me. The concept of inviting people to anonymously confess their crimes is gripping enough, but when Poe’s own dark secret comes into play, the tension ramps up even more.

Hindley’s character is incredibly creepy, the perfect antagonist whose unsettling presence lingers throughout the book. Poe, on the other hand, is wonderfully complex. She’s flawed, conflicted, and driven by motives that make you question her ethics at every turn—yet you can’t help but root for her.

The twists and turns in the story kept me guessing, and I have so many opinions about what happened, especially regarding that ending! I can't wait to discuss this with my book club because I feel like everyone will have their own theories. This was my first Carter Wilson novel, but it definitely won’t be my last. Highly recommend for fans of psychological thrillers who love a suspenseful, character-driven narrative!

Wow. I've never read a book by Carter Wilson before, and I have to admit the error of my ways. This was. . . Really great. Admittedly, I did kind of figure out who the man calling himself Ian Hindley likely was rather early on, but in no way did that detract from the excitement and tension of the story. There is so much I WANT to say about this, but I honestly believe the less I say, the better. I will say that I thought the ending was justified, including Poe's prison sentence. (If she'd gotten off free as a bird, I'd have a hard time believing such an ending). I was on the edge of my seat with this one; my husband had to pry my Kindle out of my hands several nights after I'd fallen asleep reading, because I adamantly refused to stop reading while I was conscious). I can't recommend this enough, and I plan to look up the author's previous titles. This is absolutely a must-read, and I will leave it at that.

This book was incredibly unique and captivating! I loved the protagonist Poe and her goal of getting people to confess their crimes on her podcast. It was such a great way to highlight her own guilt and overall character arc. I loved every page!
