This is one of those books that starts almost at the conclusion then winds back the clock. This can work, but in Tell Me What You Did I just felt like I was treading water waiting to get back to where it started. There were good elements of family, mystery and suspense and the theme of podcasts would appeal to many readers.

Poe runs a very popular podcast. She took advantage of the 'true crime' craze and goes direct to the source, the criminals.

Everything is going smooth until a guest says something that knocks Poe off her seat. He shouldn't know these things, something is off and she must know more.

I do love a good podcast thriller, although nothing is beating "Listen For the Lie" that I reviewed earlier this year.

Although another reviewer really struck me, 'is this a thriller?' This has me thinking ... is it? The pacing is so off. The tension never actually builds. The flipping from past to present day/podcast doesn't work for me. The 'revenge' isn't revenge enough for me.

The twists (at least I hope they were meant to be twists) were not a surprising.

It was an overall very dull book, which is surprising.

The MC, Poe, was also a dud. Acts all edgy but draws the line at certain killers ... okay you aren't edgy then. The dialogue was so awkward. The cursing felt forced and fake in an effort to make Poe seem more 'hard'. She's carrying such a chip on her shoulder but I'm not quite sure why. (Yes, you see the beginning, but the loop was closed..)

Actually all the characters were let downs. Boring, one dimensional and I never really figured them out. I didn't like them or hate them .. I never felt like I knew the characters. So in the end, I didn't care what happened to them.

Am I the only one who was confused if we were in a rural house vs city?

My last annoyance - the police. Too small to offer help? This isn't serious enough? Someone's life is being threatened? Surprising with her very popular podcast no one has figured out where she lived yet, you would think the very small police force would be aware of one of their residents doing this popular, sketchy podcast. The 'request for state police' that was denied or the fact that the sheriff was sitting outside in his personal time, but just during dinner time (so not during the night when a criminal would cliche be attacking). It was weird. It didn't make sense. I get she didn't want her secret revealed, but that wouldn't be enough for me to report a threat and ask for safety. Who cares if your 'secret' is revealed if you are dead.

To me this reads as a debut novel, but it is not. It was not my favorite. Read fast though, so don't let the page count scare you.

Tell Me What You Did embraces a common thriller theme of true crime/podcasts uncovering secrets. Callers join the podcast and share a secret, sometimes a crime, sometimes something that is just wrong or immoral. What is unusual about this book is that the host herself has something to confess, and there is a man out there who will go to any length to hear it.

I liked the time shift style, especially because the Halloween chapters were done interview style through the live podcast scene. There were a few pieces of the plot that were a bit predictable, and I really questioned some of the characters' naiveté, but it kept me entertained enough to read through to the end.

Oh I had fun reading this book! I really like the writing and flew through the first half. Although some chapters dragged a little, there was still so much going on that kept me engaged and guessing the entire time. The ending was satisfying, but I wished Hindley had suffered just a bit more.

This book is definitely more thriller than mystery. It had a VERY unique plot idea, but it was also so modern. Something that I could weirdly see happening in this time and age? The plot made it a great read!

A truly captivating read! A 4.5 out of 5 but I bumped it down because 5 is saved for books that don't leave my brain. A super unique plot with a few little twists! A fast paced thrill!

This was the first book I've read by Carter Wilson and all I can say is WOW! I will definitely seek out other books by him. This was a heart pumping, physiological thriller that I just didn't want to put down.

Wow! What did I just read? This book was so good! The creepy factor, the twist and turns, and I love a plot that incorporates a podcast. This was a fantastic, quick read. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

This is a fast paced “ripper” novel! I devoured this psychological thriller in one sitting! The main character, Poe, has a podcast where people confess their secrets. She has secrets of her own that started when she experienced a severe trauma at 13 years of age. Her revenge comes back to haunt her years later in this thriller!

Thanks to netgalley for this eArc!!

Wow this book had me right from the start . This was my first book my Carter Wilson but definitely not the last. This thriller was creepy, fast paced and had me wondering what was happening until the end. Loved it.

Wow! By far, this book is one of my favourite reads of the year. There's nothing like a good old-fashioned revenge thriller with a bad ass heroine to boot! I'm completely obsessed with the authours storytelling, and I can't wait to devour more by Carter Wilson.

Damn!! I have never read any of Carter Wilson's other stuff but this was a goooood one! Super faced paced, and kept me thinking what the hell is actually going on. I loved this book, it got me out of a reading slump for sure!!

Really interesting premise but for a thriller, the plot twists were really weak and I predicted/anticipated essentially everything. There wasn’t much suspense or surprise for me.

The format is interesting though, with the use of podcast dialogue (which also helped make it a fast read). It was interesting how the guy flipped the script on Poe. However the dialogue itself.. felt a little clunky. It just felt a little unnatural? Plus the logistics and legality of the podcast is confusing to me. Like, is that allowed?

Overall a pretty quick read, still enjoyed it. This would be fun to read for a book club or something. I’m curious to see what other people think of their decisions.

"Tell Me What You Did" is a great thriller with the creepiest scenarios right from the start. I liked that it was scary but the violence didn't' seem over the top. I started this one night before bed and waited to finish the next night. If you want to sleep well. Since I finished this I've been checking over my shoulder and jumping a bit at sudden noises and I love it!! Highly recommended. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

3.5⭐️ I was entertained from start to finish, but all that build up for such a predictable reveal. I was disappointed. I enjoyed the short, addictive chapters and the animal love, but other than that .. Meh, it was ok. And even though it wasn’t a long book it still could have been shorter.. 😅

Poe watched her mother being murdered when she was a teen and has never uttered a word about what she saw that day. She now hosts a super successful podcast where she utters the words "Confess to Me" and her guests admit their most sordid secret.

Until one day someone demands she tells hers.

Dark & disturbing told in two parts - real time & a transcript from her own confession this is a good page turner that'll keep you guessing - Is he or isn't he?

The premise of this one truly dragged me in, but it just did not work for me. It was very predictable and the ending was very anticlimactic and truly came out of nowhere.

This book sounds like a gripping and eerie thriller with a fascinating premise. Poe Webb’s role as a true crime podcast host who offers anonymity to those confessing their crimes sets up a unique narrative foundation. Her show’s blend of secrecy and fame adds an intriguing layer of complexity to the plot, particularly when confessions are potentially linked to real-world consequences.

The premise of this book was terrific and it was mostly executed well. Overall, for me, the main character was not developed enough and the ending was lackluster. I did enjoy the dual narration with the podcast transcript. Despite being a long book it was a quick read. I did appreciate the father-daughter relationship and how sweet that was.

This book was sooooooo stinking good! It’s definitely going to be the MUST-READ psychological thriller of 2025! Right out of the gate it has several things I love – podcasts and a main character with a super cool name. The story goes back and forth between telling what happened leading up to the podcast and the podcast transcript of Poe’s confession. This is another sitting on the edge of your seat thriller. The author does an excellent job of building tension as you read. I loved Poe’s character! She was just an angry female and you know what? I can be an angry female. I have felt that unhinged feeling thanks to menopause. I also really liked the serial killer vibes Ian Hindley was giving. I thought this was a very original story. I mean what’s not to love about a good revenge/podcast confessions/murder story?
