This is a fictional story about two teens who graduate from high school students as SPED (special education students) and begin their adult life rooming together rather than going into a group home. The story is related in first person from BIddy's and Quincy's points of view.
Story deals with the tough topics of struggling to find your place in the world and rape. I have this book in our middle school library for our more mature 7th and 8th graders readers because awareness and empathy for others whose lives are different that our own is an important life skill for teens. Gail Giles is a terrific teen author and while this book is very different than her other books in our library, this title is too important not to include in our collection.

I know students like this and Gail Giles knows how to write them with with a sense compassion and realism that only she can deliver.
