Let me start off by saying that I haven't read any other books in this series. Ethan is a bad boy in every sense of the word, but then he was brought up in the streets of St. Giles.he was turned away by his half-brother when his mother died. He has had to steal and kill his way to the top of the food chain so to speak. He wants out though he's tired of the things he has to do to stay where he is.
His brother finally recognizes him as his brother and makes amends for turning him away all those years ago.
Ethan meet Audrey by climbing in her window one night to get away from the Bow Street runners and sends them she has taught him to dance like a gentleman so he can interact with the time and not look like an idiot. Audrey on the other hand wants adventure and has taken to dressing like a young man in order to do so. She has even been to a vice party given by Ethan's half-brother.
Ethan and Audrey start their great adventure by running away from Gin Jimmy and the Bow Street runners, everything is not perfect they fight and argue the whole time. They end up at an orphanage run by Fox and Miranda, they both can see themselves living there that is until the Bow Street runners finally catch up with them. Audrey is kidnapped by Gin Jimmy in order to bring Ethan into the fold. Ethan sacrifices himself to get her back but his brother and friends have other ideas. At the end of the book there is a happy ending.
After reading this book I am going to see if I can get the first books in the series.
