The Pirate Princess was a super fun and exciting adventure story! I loved how the princess wasn’t just fancy—she was brave, smart, and could sail a ship just like a real pirate. The pictures were really cool and made the story even more fun to read. It was an awesome book that made me want to go on my own pirate adventure!

I really liked the art for this, which was the reason for me picking it up. I didn't mind the story but it felt a little rushed and could have done with some more world building to add a little more depth to the world and its characters.

The artwork for this book was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately nearly everything else fell a bit flat. The characters didn’t have enough dimension, the plot felt rushed, with the pacing very weird. And we really didn’t get to know any of the characters as well as we liked. Despite all of this, the book itself seemed too busy, and hard to focus on. Thank you metgalley for an e arc of this book.

Missed the download date for this one but finally got around to reading it through the library! The was a super fun and gorgeous read!

It was quite a fun comic to read, I won't lie. But there was something missing, maybe if the story was a little bit more put together and didn't seem to fall apart in quite a few places, it'd be more memorable. However the art style was interesting enough for the story being easy on the eyes.

I was given a copy of this book for free to review in exchange for my honest opinions.
This book is a grand pirate adventure that focuses on Julie, the daughter of the dreaded Pirate King. Julie has been living on an island away from her father for her own safety. However things come up and her father wants to see her so two of the men who raised her. A wonderful duo come to bring her back to her father. This duo is my favorite they are the perfect gay uncle who take good care of her when things get complicated with her family.
And boy do they get complicated, as she is on her way to get back to her father things start to come up that lead to mysteries about Julie herself, and once she meets her father she is even more unsure about what to do with her life, when he isn't the man she expected.
This feels like the first in a series and I would definitely read more. I'd say it's perfect for tweens, late elementary, early middle school. There is some violence however its not any more than one might expect from a pirate adventure. I'd give this piece four stars I liked the art and the story was engaging.

This style of art was not for me. I couldn't get into the story because the art was too much. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a quick and easy read.
With that being said, It felt rushed and a tad choppy.
There are events that felt like they were summed up rather quickly vs actually written out.
There is a lot of potential here however, it felt undone, almost like a rough draft of sorts.
If this was indeed more of a rough draft or a teaser id be interested in reading more.
Thank you Mad Cave Studios and NetGalley for providing me a copy for my honest review.

Gott love a book about a princess who just happens to be a pirate. I never had a princess phase as a kid I did have a pirate phase though. That I don't think I completely grew out of. And of course as a teen I would have loved a heroine that was both a princess and a pirate.

An engaging story about a young girl who is from a pirate family. Julie is the daughter of a mysterious Pirate King but she doesn’t live with him and hasn’t seen him or her mother for some time.
She joins a crew of pirates to find her father and encounters adventures, capture, as well as meeting her mother. When she does meet him she realises that her friends and travel companions are really who her family is.

For me, this book wasn’t anything special. I think the art threw me too much, it just didn’t work for me. Along with that, the story made some jumps that made it difficult to keep up - or at least understand why it jumped. So even though it’s exciting and has some potential, I unfortunately didn’t enjoy the book.

I only got to read a few pages before it expired but what I did read I really enjoyed! The characters were fun and the art was engaging

I liked the premise of the book, and it was a quick read. However, I found that there were many instances where the story made sudden jumps, making it difficult to keep track of what was happening.

The artwork was nice and the concept was interesting, but the story felt like it jumped around a lot without taking time to fully develop things. Has a lot of potential, but was hard to get too invested in the characters with the quick pace of things. Thanks for NetGalley for the book.

The Pirate Princess by Luca Frigerio wasn't a bad graphic novel. It follows a young girl with a flair for science who happens to be the daughter of the pirate king. The pirate king's crew picks her up after hiding out on an island for several years and the story goes from there. You go on to learn a bit about the world and her relationships with the other characters, but the scenes felt a little choppy, it felt a bit short and underdeveloped, and the art had a strange style of not showing the characters' faces clearly. The premise was intriguing, but ultimately, it was a bit unsatisfying for me upon completion.

A cute and quick read. I had a hard time with some of the pacing but I was interested in the characters and what might happen to them.

The Pirate Princess is the story of Julie, the Pirate Kings’ Daughter who has to leave her home and avoid the clutches of an evil pirate crew. But not everything is as it seems when she jumps on a ship and sails into the seas of pirates.
The plot was good, full of adventure action. However the story was choppy and inconsistent. It seemed like there were whole pages missing at some stages and some parts lacked context which made it hard to follow.
The tone was also inconsistent. Some parts were serious in the wrong moments and funny in others that seemed like they should be taken seriously.
I liked the concept but the execution could have been so much better. I wanted to connect with the characters more, and I think I could have if the story was less choppy and confusing. I think in the future if the creators wanted to re-visit this concept and take in some of the feedback I’ve seen in reviews - it could be very successful!
Fortunately, it was a quick read that I finished in one sitting.

This was a really fun read. Who doesnt love pirates? I am looking forward to the next one. I recommend.

Julie, the pirate king's daughter, doesn't really know her father, who has entrusted her to his crew. When she is kidnapped, the young woman's life is turned upside down: battles, revelations and betrayals are all on the menu...
I found the plot a little fast, which didn't give me time to get attached to the characters. The graphic style is very interesting but gets a bit messy during the fight scenes, which lost me.
In short, a comic book with potential but which didn't quite do it for me.

The Pirate Princess is a swashbuckling adventure with just the right blend of action, mystery, and humor. Julie, the protagonist, is fiery, determined, and a bit reckless, making her a fun character to root for as she pursues her two explosive goals—both figuratively and literally. Her quest to find her father, the infamous Pirate King, gives the story a clear sense of direction while allowing for plenty of wild detours through cursed lands and epic battles.
The art style is dynamic and fits the fast-paced nature of the narrative, with bold lines and vivid scenes that capture the spirit of pirate life. The crew of the Golden Dolphin is diverse and full of personality, providing a solid backdrop to Julie’s journey of self-discovery and her efforts to earn the title of Pirate Princess. The world-building is intriguing, especially with the curses and mythical elements woven into the plot.
While the story can feel a little chaotic at times, with new characters and plot points thrown in quickly, it’s an enjoyable ride with plenty of action to keep you hooked. The volume sets up several mysteries about Julie's family, which should provide good momentum for future installments.
Overall, The Pirate Princess, Vol. 1 is a strong start to what promises to be a thrilling pirate saga, perfect for fans of adventurous tales and spirited heroines.
