The fourth and penultimate novel in the excellent Dagger and the Coin fantasy series. I've been a fan of Daniel Abraham's work since I read "Shadow and Betrayal", back in 2007, so I'm always keen to read one of his new novels. Unlike many people I know, I also still prefer his fantasy novels to his SF (he is one half of James S.A. Corey, whose Expanse series has been phenomenally successful).

The Widow's House moves the DatC story closer to its close. It is an epic story of politics and war. There's a pretty big cast of characters, but Abraham juggles the POVs well. He also digs into the details more than many authors, but without ending up in Brandon Sanderson territory.

If you've been enjoying the series so far, then I'm sure you'll have eagerly picked this up as soon as you could. An excellent fantasy series, still going pretty strong with book four. As the penultimate book, there is just a shade of a middle-book feel, but that's perhaps to be expected. Can't wait to get to book five!

Very highly recommended.
