Yes. Yes. Yes. This is everything I want from a funny and spicy monster romance. I stayed up late on a work night to finish this and I'm 90% sure I will be rereading this within a few months. This book I think was a big improvement from the Mead Mishaps series (which I also enjoyed).
The main character is a niche type of capable that fits into the story without making it seem over the top. There is a lot of variety in the creatures and world-building. There is a good amount of action but it still feels low stakes and not stressful. The situations are humorous and the adventure is fun. I enjoyed the banter between the main characters and some of the tension and conflict. This book had a good balance and variety in the spicy scenes that flowed well with the rest of the plot. There are both MF and MMF scenes.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Tons of laughs and spice, with a few elements that felt less comfortable.
I enjoyed the FMC in this. Dory is funny, with some mommy issues and a LOT of knowledge about biology from studying to get her doctorate. She makes the best of a bad situation and often uses her intelligence to problem solve with various animals, plants, and social situations. I particularly liked her repeatedly freaking out about how the various fauna & flora make no sense as an ecosystem (essentially screaming at megafrog “why do you exist” was so funny!) In this regard, Toto as an animal side kick does a good job of inserting more comedy and levity.
I was less fond of the two MMCs. Lok, the admitted war criminal (?) who wasn’t really that mad about it but was tired of fighting at least, and Sol, a stuffy lawyer who for some reason still had human lawyer stereotypes even though he was. a part goat fire shooting alien. I wish we had talked a lot more about the very dubious consent a lot of the spice scenes took place under; in some, Dory acknowledges that she cannot really stop herself because she’s been drugged by the intern, but in others we do see more of a purposeful thought process. the scene in front of the cul-de-sac in the middle of the battle was probably the one that raised my concerns the most, given that Dory is actively calling out the fact that she doesn’t want to do this in front of an audience or in the middle of a battle, is ignored, and then goes along with it due to the influence of the mating serum. to me, that left a bad taste. I also couldn’t believe that neither of the mates wanted her to be pregnant right away but didn’t mention this or discuss stopping it until 90% through the book? I also probably could have done without the omegaverse knotting. .Lastly, I really hope the next book isn’t starring Blair and Osid. I really don’t think I could stomach that.
Lastly, I did enjoy the subtle commentary in the book on how corporations treat people and habitats that stand in the way of their profit. the was that everything the corporation did was incredibly rushed because the budget for fuel was too small, but the offices were full of name brand things. The insertion of random things like steamboat willy battling other characters or billboards with AI nonsense on it were always funny.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming follows Dorothy, a wildlife biologist focused on meerkats who gets, you guessed it, abducted by aliens! While on board the alien’s ship, Dorothy makes a daring escape with a lion named Toto, who becomes a close friend. After they escape their captors, they land on an alien planet inhabited by dinosaurs and many other strange creatures. On this planet they meet two of the “locals”, Sol and Lok, who Dorothy quickly becomes involved with. This book is a “why choose” mates story full of interesting creatures, strong and sassy women, and a whole lot of steam!
My personal thoughts: First off, I’m a lover of Kimberly Lemming’s writing. I absolutely loved her Mead Mishaps series, so I was really looking forward to this book. I loved Dorothy’s character immediately, she’s full of humor and depth and just a very well written character. Also, Kimberly Lemming does a great job of hooking the reader immediately, from the very first sentence. I just love her writing so much. I also love Toto! And the way he is written! I’m a sucker for a book with cool creatures, and man is this book full of them. I love Dory’s incredulity over the menagerie of animals on the alien planet that have no right to be there. I wasn’t expecting the two mate situation, but I’m not opposed to it! There was a lot more sex than I was anticipating, but again, I’m not opposed. The first and last quarter of the book were the best parts in my opinion, but I did really enjoy reading this.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good rom-com, especially when it’s mixed with aliens and dinosaurs. I will definitely be recommending this book to customers at my store! Thank you so very much to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for allowing me to read this e-arc!

Aliens and lions and dinosaurs oh my!!!
Disclaimer: I read this book via audiobook and digital ebook from the penguin random house audiobook influencer club and NetGalley. Thank you for the free copies. This is my honest and voluntary review.
The audiobook was so well done. The narrator Hazel Addison was able to give everyone a distinct personality and I loved that so much about the characters. Her tone and pacing only
heightened the hilarity. I was in stitches almost the entire time.
Kimberly Lemming can't write a bad book. I'll stand by that ten toes down until the day I die. Her books are always snarky, quirky, hilarious and so wonderfully spicy. This book is no exception. The characters were interesting and well developed. I felt like the world was super unique, if not a little lacking in world building. Although I didn't subtract any rating for that because in a novel like this, that's hardly the main objective. It was easy to love these characters, in particular Toto.
The plot of this book kept me completely entertained. It was suspenseful and yet super light and fun. A perfect blend to keep me interested and happy to follow the characters. The spicy was definitely fun and well written.
I can't wait to read more of these wonderful stories.

This was such light-hearted good fun! This is my first Kimberly Lemming book and I'll definitely be picking up the rest of her books. I love a good STEM monster/alien romance!

*SPOILERS AHEAD!*
This was fun, though I had a hard time getting into it. I can't even really put my finger on what it was that didn't work for me, because it absolutely should have. Bonkers poly romance with a very self-aware and badass heroine is totally my thing, but this one just wasn't.
I did love that Dory spent so much time being like this doesn't make sense, these dinosaurs would never have been living together, they're from different eras and just questioning so many things. And the fact that they are basically in a breeding program, where they are provided with "enrichment" items (like animals in a zoo!) just about broke me, it was hilarious. As well as the random billboards everywhere with absolutely ludicrous (hilarious) wording on them.
As I write this review I honestly can't find anything *wrong* with the story, it was fun, spicy, all the things I would like in a rom-com, I just couldn't get into it. I think it's very likely a me problem, and not a book problem. I would recommend it, just for the bonkers-ness of it.

Read This Book If…you wanted more chaos in Ice Planet Barbarians!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming
Genre: erotic sci-fi romance
Series: Cosmic Chaos # 1
Spice Level: 4/5🌶, 3-4 explicit scenes
Setting: alien planet
POV: single, 1st persons, past tense
Tropes: breeding kink, one bed, “good girl”
My Thoughts:
Listennnnnnnnn this was such a kooky and fun read! I literally laughed out loud at all of the chaotic elements.
Incompetent aliens abducted you? Great. You’re mated with not one, but two hot aliens? Amazing. There’s a fucking t-rex running around? Iconic.
This read didn’t have a ton of tension or emotional depth in the relationship, but I was too distracted by the great plot and spice to really care!
This is a quick, fun read that everyone is going to be talking about!
Memorable Quote: “How could I not be serious with a fallen star pressed against me? The world could sink into oblivion and I’d still have the honor of dying the happiest man alive.”
Thank you to the publisher for my advance copy!

I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com is the first book in Kimberly Lemming’s new Cosmic Chaos series and I just knew I was going to love it. The Mead Mishaps series is one of my FAVES because of the fearless heroines, hilarious antics, and complex politics and this new book followed suit!
Dory’s character is so hilariously relatable from start to finish, because if I started talking to a lion because of some alien communication serum then I, too, would be like “yeah cool.” Toto was the best animal familiar I’ve read in a while, and he’s a LION for crying out loud 😂 I loved their friendship and resourcefulness together as they navigate a new alien planet.
Also, JUSTICE FOR LOK 🚨 because he deserved to be on the cover too! Let it be known the romance in this book is a throuple! Lok and Sol were amazing love interests and the spice in this book is chaotic and surprising.
While this book is hilarious, it also dives into a pretty complex analysis of techno-capitalism. The dystopian note to this story adds that signature Lemming depth that I’ve come to be a huge fan of.
I’d recommend I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com to fans of alien romance, folks who enjoy political commentary and satire, and to anyone who owned a Tamagotchi

MEERKATS ON THE FIRST PAGE???? MY FAVORITE ANIMALS TO EVER EXIST????? This was so fun. Everything that an alien romance should be, with incredible spicy scenes and hilarious one-liners, and so many fun extra elements that I appreciated being featured!!! Silly? Yes. But so exciting and easy to read, I was drawn in from the start and couldn’t help but enjoy the ride!!!

I love Kimberly Lemming so when I was approved for this I almost died! This was a fun, sarcastically spicy experience with lots of crazy creativity. The characters all had fun personalities that made you want to laugh the entire time. Definitely recommend!

It was a first for me for this genre. It was funny, hella spicy and pretty weird. It was a lot for me to digest. 😅 I think if you’re a fun of this genre, you would love it but I think it’s a little too much for an introduction to monster romance.
Dorothy is a researcher who almost died when being attacked by a lion. Next thing she knows she is a different world with the said lion. While navigating around, Dorothy stumbled upon Sol and Lok. Sol and Lok are from different tribes of the planet. All three late found out they are part of a breeding program ran by the company that is also destroying the planet. They were all injected with a serum to encourage them to breed.
Thank you at Netgalley, Berkley and Penguin Random House for this ARC. ❤️

With a title like I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com, already put a lot of ideas in your head. As you might imagine, the story begins with our main character: Dory being abducted by aliens and she ends up being taken at the same time as a lion. Oh, did I mention the lion was trying to kill her as well?
Regardless, Dory and the lion who she names Toto quickly become companions in trying to get away from these aliens. The two can get away and drop on a faraway planet which isn’t ideal. From there, it ends up being an adventure with high stakes for both of them but Dory is the one who ends up feeling like she’s trapped in a rom-com.
Why is her life now a rom-com? Well, our dear Dory ends up being mated to not just one but two different aliens. Coupled with the fact that the planet has all different types of wildlife including dinosaurs, plants, and other things Dory has never encountered before, it’s truly mindboggling to try to imagine everything Dory is going through while trying to foster a connection with two aliens men.
At its core, this book is fun and full of so many outrageous moments that you won’t be able to stop yourself from laughing or gasping for pages on end. Ultimately, the only thing I had to ding this book for was its pacing. The beginning half of the book felt like it went by a little too slowly until we met our love interests and from there, it truly felt like the adventure began.
While that pacing works for some, it did take me a little longer to get into this story for that reason. Even so, I can’t say much as Kimberly Lemming did have to set up an entirely new world and set of characters. Ultimately, I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com is every bit as fun as the title makes it sound so if you’re in the mood for an alien romance, this one is the ultimate post Valentine’s Day read.

This book has a fantastic title. It grabbed me from the beginning. I had high hopes of this being a hilarious read. The author really made it a fast past story. For me personally it is a bit to fast as I didn't really care for the characters. The explicit scenes also arrived quickly, 30% of the way in felt a little soon for me. However it isn't totally unrealistic because of the events that happen in the story. A breeding planet that has its very own alien scientist who is observing and trying to make things happen. I know that this book will be enjoyable for some so I will recommend it to the right person, it just didn't hit for me personally. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

What a wild trip! Generally speaking, lately I have been avoiding het romances and why choose, but I trust Kimberly Lemming to show me a good time and she absolutely did with this ridiculously fun and funny book. Can't remember the last time I laughed so much (either Scalzi's Starter Villain or maybe Charlotte Stein's My Big Fat Fake Marriage? oh maybe Olivia Dade's At First Spite).
My demisexual self wasn't 100% sold on the romance of it (the joy of it, yes, in love so fast? I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but since it doesn't even seem like the focus a big chunk of the time, that didn't bother me. Despite all the world-building and plot, Lemming still makes time to insert (heh) really explicit sex scenes in this book. You've been "warned."

So I adore Kimberly Lemming, but this was not it for me. Her other books feel plotted out where this one feels like one random crazy thing after another. There are good parts to it. I would have really liked to see more character development between the different love interests as their relationship developed. They say they all fall in love but it just really feels like a sex fueled relationship. There isn't anything wrong with a sexual relationship but as a group deciding to be long term partners I would have liked to see more development and depth to their feelings.
I also don't mind a quirky story but I would like for the elements to flow together rather than the stream of consciousness chain of events. It's almost like Lemming just wrote whatever popped into her head. I just expected more from her since she is already an established author. This had a lot of potential if it had just been hammered out to flow more naturally I would have enjoyed it so much more. 3/5 stars. Still entertaining, but could have been a stronger storyline.

I adore the world Kimberly Lemming builds and this one was no different! This is the perfect mix of humor and romance and spice. I found myself laughing out loud and swooning ("you make the mundane precious" like omg????). Kimberly Lemming continues to be an auto-buy author for me.

This had the same fun banter and world building of previous Kimberly Lemming titles but I really needed the POVs of our love interests. I think it made it hard to feel the connection between the characters and their chemistry.
The world and set up for this place is hilarious and has the same zing of her other titles. I liked her twist on an alien romance too.

Series Info/Source: This is the first book in the Cosmic Chaos series. I got this on eGalley from NetGalley for review.
Thoughts: This was a fun and light-hearted read with quite a bit of alien sex in it. This is ridiculous and goofy and completely unbelievable. However, it was still a fun quick read that was a nice break from more serious reads. It made me laugh out loud a few times, but I also rolled my eyes at how completely silly it was as well.
Dorothy is a wildlife biologist until she suddenly (unfortunately) gets mauled by a lion. It ends up okay because at that moment she is also abducted by aliens. She wakes up and scrambles to escape the spaceship she's on only to end up in an escape pod with the very lion that tried to kill her. But the lion can talk now, so it's all good I guess. She crashes on a strange planet only to be rescued by a sexy alien named Sol, who gets into it with another sexy alien named Lok. They are all developing strangely intense attractions to each other that might not be completely natural.
I struggled a bit with the whole premise that the three characters involved were forced to lust after each other. This does give the tone of the book a bit of a yucky feel for me; this was navigated decently but wasn't my favorite theme. Also the whole premise of a weird earth kind of substitute and a breeding program to save a species was just a bit too goofy to quite make sense to me.
All the above aside, some of this book is laugh out loud funny (if you can get past the goofiness). I did end up getting strangely attached to the characters. There was a lot of action and it was fast-paced. This was a quick read that was entertaining. It had some very risque and dirty sex scenes in it as well. I struggled a bit with these since they kind of were, but kind of weren't consensual. I also thought the sex scenes got strangely repetitive and was left wondering what was up with the whole male knot organ thing (this gave me flashbacks to Hazelwood's "Bride" book).
My Summary (3/5): Overall I didn't enjoy this quite as much as Lemming's Mead Mishaps series. I found the Mead Mishaps series to be a lot more funny, sweet, and cozy and enjoyed the fantasy setting more. This was just a bit too far over the goofy line for me, and some of the sex scenes gave me more of a "yuck" feel than a "great chemistry" feel. I did end up becoming strangely attached to the characters here, and I thought the world was crazy (maybe a bit too crazy). I am on the fence as to whether or not I will continue reading this series. I didn't hate this, I just didn't love it either. Mostly when I finished this I was like, "Well, that was a quick and weird read. Moving on." If you are a big Lemming fan, I would give this a try and see how you like it.

What a ridiculously funny skewering of academia and wildlife research! The plot was bonkers in the best way and never took itself too seriously. I loved all the main characters, especially Sol, the protective lawyer turned dinosaur hunter. The sex scenes had a tendency to come out of absolutely nowhere and were often outside with zero privacy. Both would usually bother me but a threesome in front of a tiny flying alien in glasses somehow fit with this book’s energy.

My favorite of Lemming's yet! I've read the previous rompy and fun books from Lemming and and really liked them, but I felt this was her best one so far! I think the humor really landed for me and I was thoroughly entertained. The romance was sweet and steamy, and I enjoyed everything happening there a lot; the only thing I wished was different was that the two men had more of a development of their relationship along with her relationship blossoming with each of them.
