I’m not sure where to even begin with this book? It was all over the place in the best ways? 😂. At no point do you know where the story is going and I commend the author for that. Always keeping us on our toes! I think for me where this fell flat was the sheer amount of data dump world building in a short book. I know that she has to set up the rest of the series but it at times was overwhelming. I also didn’t feel much of a connection between the three of them for about 70% of the book due to so much world building and chaos shenanigans.

The cover of this book is so good. It's what first drew me to the book. The title also made me want to read this.
I loved that Dory is a PhD student, and I really enjoyed the action in this book. It made the book go by quickly since there was always something going on. That being said, sometimes scenes started and ended too quickly. There were parts I had to re-read because I was lost as to how the characters got there, or who these new people were. This book could benefit from slowing down a bit. Even at the beginning, readers are immediately dropped into this alien world. While that might've been to make us feel like Dory does, it left me feeling lost. I wanted more time to get to know Dory and to get to know the world. More world building would've helped my understanding a lot.
While I know this was meant to me comedic, a lot of the comedy and dialogue came across as cheesy. It was in contrast to the steamy scenes. The steamy scenes were actually my favorite parts of this book (which is saying something since steamy scenes haven't been vibing with me recently). But those scenes were more serious, the characters more dominant and sensual. Then, the next scene, they're silly, cracking cheesy jokes and being more childlike. It almost felt like two different books, and I prefered the more serious and sensual one.

My rating scale:

⭐⭐ Meh
⭐⭐⭐ I enjoyed it
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Obsessed!

This is pretty bananas, which is fun, but I'm not sure it came together as well as I would have hoped given how much I've liked the author's other series. Maybe if we got a POV from Sol or Lok in the first 3rd? I think the main characters just don't have enough of a connection to each other or the reader to make the smutty scenes very impactful other than just pure eroticism.
That said, love the camp of this and I adored Toto as a MVP side character

Imagine quite literally being attacked by a lion, abducted by aliens and dropped into a strange planet with dinosaurs running around… and your first thought is “omg, I’ll never finish my PhD.” 😂😂😂😂💀 felt!
This book was hilarious. There was no spice, just straight up smut and I was not prepared for it lol. But I loved it!!! Overall, this was just a really fun book and I had no idea where it was going, but I throughly enjoyed the ride. Memorable characters, interesting world building, hilarious dialogue, and such a fresh/lowkey take on the Wizard of Oz. A deeply unserious but memorable read. #TeamSol

I thought the Mead Mishap series by this author was hilarious so I was thrilled to read this one, but it just fell a bit short. I found the characters flat, and while the humor in her other series was great, this seemed too forced. The throuple was not compelling, and honestly, I thought the whole "knotting" aspect was just a bit too out there for me. There is of course a large market that will enjoy this book, but it turned out it was not for me, which is sad as a enjoyed her other series!

I have really got to start reading blurbs more closely because I just grabbed this based on the author and hadn't realized it was going to be an MMF romance - not anything I have strong feelings about, but not my typical trope. This was a really interesting and very spicy read - I thought the world-building was really cool. The premise was kind of like, what if some aliens were observing earth based on some very limited data points and then tried to recreate it on a different planet? Because it turns out that it might include a lot of romance tropes, some pink dinosaurs, some giant frogs, and a bunch of other animals that can talk. That works out okay here because of FMC, Dory, is a wildlife biologist who got abducted by aliens right after getting her throat ripped out by a lion on earth - they saved her life and took her to their experimental planet where she embarked on an adventure with two male aliens, the lion who tried to kill her, and a few other characters along the way. All of that was fine with me, but I did have some issues with the throuple relationship, which was born of a super scientific version of a love potion that forced a synthetic attraction for the purposes of mating experimentation. There's a content warning about dubious consent so it wasn't a surprise, but it just wasn't for me.

Thanks to NetGalley, the Publisher and Author for a copy of the title in exchange for my review.
I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming is a lighthearted, humorous, action-packed sci-fi romance that features an adventurous strong main character and an alluring alien love interest.
The best things about Kimberly Lemming's books are the witty often hilarious banter, chaotic frequently sarcastic zany ane swoony steamy tension, of which this book delivers plenty. Such silly and spicy wild ride!
At this point this author is on my must read no matter what list.

this is my first Kimberly Lemming book. it was such a ridiculous and fun read. i can't wait for the next book in the series! i will come back to expand on my review, but I wanna go read her other books now

This book is an out of pocket experience that I literally didn’t know what to expect when flipping the page! As the title suggests, “I got abducted by aliens and now I’m trapped in a rom com” - is the literal synopsis of the book, the author cannot be more clear! This book picks up literally from the start and she does not hold back.
“ I’m following a strange alien with a talking lion - and there are dinosaurs everywhere. Great, perfect. Totally normal. Starting to think I’m not on earth anymore. But it’s cool. It’s fine. We’re rolling with it. Cool, cool, cool.”
The book was fast, paced and fun, it caught your attention, and it keeps hold of it throughout the entire story. Dorthy finds herself in an unforeseen circumstance (obviously), specifically on a planet with a talking lion, two different yet incredibly attractive aliens, and dinosaurs. This group bands together to figure out how they got to the planet and how Dorthy can find a way home.
She gets stuck in a romcom for a reason: we have tropes littered throughout - enemies to lovers, only one bed, fated mates - to name a few. It’s a unique take on some popular romance tropes.
Things I loved about the story:
The character banter was incredible
There was a lot of references to the Wizard of Oz
Laughing out loud funny/totally ridiculous situations
The spicy parts were INCREDIBLE
I did not expect the story to take a turn like it did or for the plot to progress in the way it did. It was uniquely surprising and fun - it has a sci-fi/fantasy take given the situation of the story. However, I did think that it lagged a little bit in the middle and had me a little disengaged - but it didn’t last long.
Thank you Berkly Romance & Berkly Publishing for the ARC copy!!

*Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review*
What a freaking romp. It's Kimberly Lemming at her best.
Should it be taken super seriously? No. But did it make me laugh out loud and blush at a steamy scene in the back of an Uber? Yes, for sure. It's a science fiction romance with aliens, talking animals, and a whole lot of adventure. Also some VERY spicy sex which I was not prepared for. I hope we learn more about the planet and Intern's program in the next installment!

10/10, what a fun time! I liked Kimberly Lemming's previous books.... but this is a love match. I enjoyed the characters and the story, all of it rediculous, all of it amazing! I hope there is a series in this books future. It was such a good time and her writing is better than ever. Can't want to get a physical copy to add to my shelf!
Thanks, Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the ARC!

Hands down, this must be the most chaotic, hilarious, sarcastic, jaw-dropping, on the nose debauchery and unexpected alien abduction book I've ever read.
While studying a group of Meerkats in the jungle, PhD student Dory's life is cut-short by a sudden attack from a lion. Not thinking things could get any worse, she finds herself waking up on an alien ship being examined but colorful Owls!?
Further down the rabbit hole, Dory begins to lean into the new bizarre reality she's found herself in as wave after wave of the impossible and improbable confronts her at every turn.
Without giving too many specific details about Dory to avoid spoilers, our FMC goes on a journey of self-acceptance in this crazy new world. Plagued by self-doubt and being seen as not accomplished or dignified enough by her mother her entire life, Dory needs a major confidence boost. And we see her find a companion, friend and sounding board in the lion who attacked her, no less.
And as the least likely person to entertain romantic relationships, Dory is thrown into a polyamours, couptrio at the hands of eccentric Owl-alien Intern for the sake of research. Dodging one danger after another, Dory's quest to make it back to Earth slips father and father away.
Reading this book, readers are highly likely to:
Cackle uncontrollably
Blush at everything Lok says.
Want to throttle Intern
Wish they could visit Waffles
Shake their head every time Toto opens his mouth
Question if frogs should be sentient beings
Be reminded of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
As a fan of Lemmings' previous work, I went into this new series with excitement but also a little bit of worry. For readers like myself who have shortlists of authors they love to read, the vibes of new projects/genres can be so unexpected.
This new alien rom-com series will draw alien romance readers into the Lemmings' universe while maintaining the appreciation of her DnD/LitRPG reader-fanbase from her Mead Mishaps series. I cannot wait to read more.

I am a huge fan of Kimberly Lemming's writing, but I found this book didn't meet her standards. The romance felt contrived and not at all believable. I love the premise, and some parts were really funny, and totally Lemming's style. Unfortunately, I couldn't get on board with the plot.
I was especially disappointed with one of the spicy scenes that felt like it was thrown in just to have some spice included. To be honest, this book would probably have been better if the spice were left out.
All in all, this one didn't hit the spot for me, so I award it 3 out of 5 stars.

There was so much about this book that I just really enjoyed. I literally laughed out loud a few times while reading. The spicy scenes were really well done too. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for review.

Honestly, this book is just for the vibes. If you don’t mind reading a romance book with no plot and just for the vibes, then you will enjoy reading this book. Just keep it in mind. If you think that this book is more for the plot, you will be disappointed. It’s literally for the vibes only. No plot, just vibes.

Kimberly Lemming is a queen of romances, and I'm so happy she's made her first expedition into science fiction! I love her books (including this one): her characters are hilarious and likeable, her plots are silly without being stupid, the books are spicy without being overdone... I could go on! I'm so glad she's finally getting the roses she's always deserved, and I hope to see more from her!

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming is a fun sci-fi romance and the first book in the Cosmic Chaos series.
I absolutely loved the zany fun of the author's Mead Mishaps series, so I JUMPED on the chance to read this one early. Just like her previous series, Lemming includes content guidance at the beginning of the book, which I really appreciate.
In this installment, we follow Dory, who has nearly received her PhD in wildlife biology. She's filming two groups of meerkats fighting for dominance when she's nearly mauled by a lion--but gets slurped up into a tractor beam instead. Finding herself in an alien spaceship, she understandably freaks out.
This series definitely has the same zaniness as the Mead Mishaps series. I loved all of the dinosaurs in this book, especially the Gru (the pink one-armed T-rex on the cover). Toto the lion was fabulous and he ranked up there as one of my favorite characters.
There's also a ton of steamy scenes just like her previous series, so if that's not your bag, I'm not sure you'd get on much with her work. This is the first book I've read from her where there are a total of three people in the relationship, which was fun to read. I enjoyed watching Sol and Lok begrudgingly accept each other. Their alien race is hooved and they have tails that have the ability to provide suction, which was interesting alien physiology I haven't read before.
I like science fiction, but I'll forever be moreso a fantasy girlie. Overall I didn't love this one as much as I loved Mead Mishaps BUT I'm excited to delve further into this world in the following books of the series and meet the other women who were abducted by aliens and dropped onto a strangely terraformed world! The first book in a new series, especially sci-fi series, have a lot of groundwork to cover and I think that could be why this one felt a little extra on the fever dream meter for me.
If you're looking for a bit of silly sci-fi fun with a bunch of steamy scenes between an OT3 you should absolutely pick this up.

This was a wild ride and I had a good and odd time reading it lol. This is my first monster romance and I am both intrigued and perplexed in a good way. This book has it all, diverse characters, monsters, aliens, abductions, steam, and why choose from romance. You will both laugh and ask what is going on when reading. I liked how the fmc took everything in stride and though I wasn't all in on the emotional depth of the romance I think it was cute. Defitnelky read this if you love bonkers and silly why choose romance with a lot of things happening? Also, read this if you want a quick read that will have you having fun.
Thanks to Berkley Romance for the earc.

Thank you to netgalley for sending an early copy! All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Unlike others, I’ve never read Kimberly Lemmings other books, but was curious enough to pick up this one. While I didn’t take it serious (it’s not a book TO be taken serious), I just didn’t like that the so-called “throuple” wasn’t actually a throuple. Ofc this was more about the FMC and the two MMCs falling in love rather than the MMCs being together, but I just wished there was a way for us to root for all THREE of them. This felt like a love triangle in which they just decide to fuck but don’t ~really~ love each other by the end.
Also, as a queer person, I just wanted to see Dory fujo it out. Sure they did a train but other than that there really was nothing between the two MMCs.
This was still a good book, though! I love alien romances 👽

Thank you to Berkley Romance for providing me with an early copy!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Mead Mishaps series by Kimberly Lemming, so I was excited to read the Cosmic Chaos series. The humor and antics that I loved in her debut series are present in this book from the very beginning. I loved the unique setting of the planet 'Waffles' and found both love interests engaging. The sex scenes are well-written and perfectly balanced with the humor throughout the story. If you're looking for a fun and spicy sci-fi romance, this book is for you!
