What a fun, smutty, (somewhat) low-stakes alien romance! I have always loved Lemming's books, but this is now very much my favorite. We finally get a throuple and another bad-ass female lead character, as well as some iconic side characters. Weird little owl aliens and a talking lion top off the weirdness and hilarity of the storyline. Not to mention dinosaurs and a massive frog that may or may not try to eat humans. This weird funny little story is amazing for any time, but especially during a reading slump or a stressful time when reading doesn't feel easy to do. I loved every moment of this and can't wait to see what we end up with next from Lemming!
The wit and banter were A+ and the smut was 5 stars!
This is the perfect book for anyone who loves sci-fi or fantasy romance, witty back-and-forth between love interests, instalove, and/or rom-coms!
Thank you to Berkley Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an arc for this!

I could not put this book down and read 3/4s in one sitting. I loved the banter between the characters and laughed out loud at several points. The spiciness was at a great level for me. Kimberly Lemming is now on my must read author list.

I never wanted to fall in love with an alien until I read this book. 😅 I've never read any of her work before so I went into this totally blind and was pleasantly surprised! This was hilariously witty, heat inducingly spicy, and packed with adventure! I loved the banter between characters and the development of the relationship between Dory, Sol, and, Lok. Overall, great story and I'm now running to grab the other books to read ASAP!

This was WILD. I've seen Kimberly's books on our shelves and included them on multiple displays, but this is the first time I've read one... I was not prepared. Think Ruby Dixon, but like better? With a talking lion and a pink t-rex... It was a super fun read with lots of spice, two broody aliens and amazing representation. Definitely going to dive into her other books!

Pure junk food reading at it's best! If you're looking for a fun, non-nonsensical rom-com full of dinosaurs, aliens and spice, this is the book for you! I will say that I liked the cozy nature of the Mead Mishaps series more than the chaotic absurdity in this book but maybe that's just because I tend to like fantasy more often than sci-fi generally.
🌶️ As far as spice goes, I do like a bit of spice in my books but I will say that I don't usually gravitate towards books with heavy spice. If I do end up with a particularly spicy book, I need it to be grounded in an interesting plot or driven by characters that I love. This book fell a bit short for me on this. The plot was a small thread connecting a ragtag gang of characters together that required the reader to often suspend disbelief. (eg. Oh no, the characters don't speak the same language, better add some weird mechanic where they have to lick or kiss each other to swap a language symbiote between them so they can understand each other?) I think this kind of thing works better in a fantasy genre because magic always requires a suspension of disbelief whereas in sci-fi there is always a bit of real science that the reader could conceivably stretch to believe it could be possible. So little things like that took me out of the story a bit.
If you've read other books in the "alien romance" genre, you will probably recognize similar story structures here. Personally, I picked this up because I like how fun and easy Kimberly Lemming's books are to read but alien romance isn't really my genre. I've only read Ice Planet Barbarians and I get the sense that they tend to follow similar trends, i.e. girl gets abducted and dropped onto alien planet, encounters dangerous local flora/fauna she isn't equip to defend herself against, enter giant hot humanoid alien man or men to save her, they end up mated through some weird alien bond nonsense. So, please feel free to take my review with a grain of salt! However, all that being said, if you liked the IPB series, if you're looking for something fun that you don't want to take too seriously, or if you just like Lemming's writing, you'll probably enjoy this one!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Kimberly Lemming could write a book about paint drying and I would devour it. Dory is a stellar FMC with reactions I think all of us can relate to, considering her circumstances. Toto is one of the best side characters I've read all year, and I hope he stays around moving forward (really need to know how things go with the saber tooth). The tension abounds in typical Kimberly Lemming fashion, and the humor balances it all out to make this a fun and enjoyable read overall. 4/5 stars, will definitely be continuing this series.
Thank you to Berkley and Kimberly Lemming for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A new Kimberly Lemming books and it's just as gloriously unhinged as I hoped it would be.
Dory gets a stay of execution (of sorts) when she's abducted by aliens just as she's attacked by a lion. While she's happy to not be the lion's next meal, she's not happy to wake up on an alien ship. So she does what any enterprising young woman would do in and stages a breakout. While she successfully escapes the alien ship, she also (a) ends up on an unknown planet with a myriad of dangers and (b) ends up with the lion who wanted to end her as her companion.
On the plus side, she and the lion can now communicate and a lion is a good dude to have on your side on a planet filled with predators. Also on the plus side, the planet they ended up on is populated by hunky alien men. On the downside, the two men vying over her have a bit of a beef with one another. Well, that's not entirely accurate. Sol is wary of Lok for reasons and Lok is kind of dominant and flirty in a way that gets Dory's heart going pitter patter in a BIG WAY. To be fair, Sol also has that hot, dominant alien thing going and he pushes Dory's buttons in his own way.
Let's just say these two alien hunks have Dory going on all fronts and leave it at that.
Dinosaurs, danger, owl aliens who are more than they seem, human enrichment areas, two alien males who couldn't be more different, but who work nicely for Dory, and a human lady who might have just found her groove on an alien planet. GOOD STUFF!

this was so much fun!!! lemming has been hit or miss for me but when i seen this title and the cover i was immediately interested!! this was so funny, i loved the banter and the little quirks of the fmc. definitely recommend reading this one. thanks netgalley for the arc!

I really enjoy Kimberly Lemming’s writing style! The chemistry between Dory and her mates was PALPABLE and sooo steamy. It’s the perfect book for anyone looking to lose themselves in a fantasy world with low-ish stakes. My only critique is that the book dragged a little around the 60-70% mark, but I still had a great time.

Kimberley Lemming has done it again!
I forever love the way that Kimberly crafts hilarious, spicy, and creative romances!!! I personally think that she is the QUEEN of monster romance.
I had such a blast reading this; it was such a fresh and unique take on the classic movie, The Wizard Of Oz. The world building was specific but not intimidating within the short amount of time and I loved the color that the world of Waffles brought to the storyline. I really liked Dory's journey on this strange planet and her relationships with both Sol and Lok!!! I didn't know that this was going to both an omegaverse and why choose, which had me THRIVING.
The whole group of ragtag characters bring a light to the story and ground their motivations as the plot progresses. I did feel like the ending rushed a wee bit; however the intense action made up for itself.
Intern and Toto had me cackling the entire time, the spice was fantastic, and I CANNOT WAIT to read the next book in this series.
Also, as always, Kimberly kills it with the title of this book!!!
Thank you Berkley, Kimberly Lemming, and Netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a hilarious ROM COM and It is spicy. wow when you think you read everything there is more. I laughed so much and I enjoyed the aliens and the talking lion OMG was my favorite character in the book. I will need to read more of her books.

If I had an award to go to best opening sentence of a book each year, this would be 2024's crowning champion.
Truth be told I have never read any of Lemming's Fantasy works, but I think I'll have to after the enjoyment of this read.
The concept of the planet/world is so funny and yet pretty believable all things considered.
Dorothy as a protagonist is so delightful. She's got such a great personality and her background compliments the
I did laugh out loud several times in this
It's hard to strike that balance between the sci-fi narrative and the romance but this book is a perfectly constructed scale. My only critique would be that the antagonist arrives a bit too late into the game.
I definitely hope that this isn't the last time Lemming covers this genre as it is was a whole lot of fun!

Dorothy is working to get her PhD in wildlife biology when she’s attacked by a lion and then abducted by aliens. What?
Dory and the lion becomes besties and quickly commandeer an escape pod and crash-land on an alien planet. They are saved by a mysterious and sexy alien, Sol, then quickly team up with equally hot, equally dangerous Lok.
This book is sexy and funny with a plot that never took itself too seriously. If you're looking for something different to read & like sci-fi/fantasy, this book is for you.
I received this advance review copy from NetGalley & the publisher for my honest review.

2.5/5
Thank you for giving me this arc!
I was super excited to read this. The world building felt a bit confusing to me but I think it’s a really quick paced book.
I just wished I enjoyed the story a bit more!

If you're a steamy, alien romance fan, think Ruby Dixon, you're going to love I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com! This has all of Kimberly Lemming's trademark humor matched with big, sexy aliens with horns and talented tails. Lots of madcap adventure plus a talking lion! Fated mates! A whimsical world where dinosaurs exist alongside a suburban cul de sac. I hope we get more of Dory and her mates in the future!

3.5/5! ⭐⭐⭐

.𖥔 ݁ ˖ If there's one thing I can expect from a Kimberly Lemming book, it's humor. Throw in some aliens, a talking lion, a badass FMC and a ton of spice, and you get 'I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com'. This was book wild, in all aspects.
.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Dorothy is soooo close to getting her PhD in wildlife biology, when she's almost attacked by a lion, and then abducted by aliens. Her and her new talking lion bestie, Toto, are thrown into an insane world, where dinosaurs walk and everything wants to devour Dorothy.....including Sol and Lok, two hot aliens. We follow them on their spicy, exciting journey to battle the mysteries of this new planet.
🛸 Fun world-building.
🛸 Talking lion bestie & dinosaurs.
🛸 Spiiiiiiiice that will have you questioning things.
🛸 Human x alien romance.
🛸 D&D/rom-com vibes.
🛸 Tons of humor & banter.
.𖥔 ݁ ˖ I love this authors sense of humor, and her books never fail to make me laugh. Dorothy was a fun, spunky FMC and her talking bestie, Toto was the real reason we all loved this book. The spicy scenes were spicing, and I actually really enjoy the way she writes out her romance and spice.
.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Overall, this was a really fun, energetic read. I think it was a little too much for me, though. After a while, I kinda got bored with the whole alien, dinosaurs, everything's funny sorta vibe. Maybe alien rom-coms aren't my thing? Idk. It just got repetitive for me, and I found myself bored at some parts. I really enjoyed her other novels though, and would 100% recommend this to someone looking for a hilarious, uplifting read.
💫 Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this e0arc in exchange for an honest review. 💫

Full of humor, great banter, and all the steam, this book is an absolute blast! Sol, Lok, and their Stardust had me in stitches. I literally didn’t want to put it down until the very last page.
Kimberly Lemming adds a fresh and witty voice to the alien romance genre. I laughed out loud!
I’m talking giant frogs, a pink T-Rex, and a talking lion people. It’s wonderfully imaginative, oh so sexy, and laugh out loud funny.
Heres what I loved most:
The writing - full of banter, humor, and well thought out storytelling.
The world building left me rolling. It was absurd in the most hilarious way.
The characters are fully fleshed out and very likable.
I seriously can’t wait to see what this brilliant author comes up with next.
Thank you so much @berkleyromance for the advance review copy.

In the market for a Fever Dream Jurassic Park on an Alien Planet, replete with Tamagotchis and a talking lion? Do I have the book for you.
I DEVOURED the full mead mishaps series, and physically squealed in delight when I got approved for this ARC – two of my most favorite things: Kimberly’s beautiful, unhinged mind and alien romance. This should’ve been a slam dunk for me, and while it was fun, cute, and utterly wild in the best way – I fear it hit the limit of too unhinged for me.
This is, at its core, deeply silly. The story opens with a PhD student – Dorothy! – as she’s orchestrating what is functionally Meerkat Manor (an underrated classic), until fate intervenes and she finds herself on an alien planet that seems to be a strange amalgamation of creatures, homes, and items belonging to various times in Earth history. A pink T-Rex! A sloth! A defies-the-laws-of-biology giant toad! And of course – Tamagotchis that a sentient owl species uses to track the mating habits of the species inhabiting the planet.
In short: it’s so deeply unserious that it feels like a dream your subconscious mashed up in the midst of a Benadryl nap. And while the extent to which this story refuses to take itself seriously is delightful and charming, it’s also a bit overwhelming. There’s such a thing as too much silly, and this book surpassed it by miles. Leagues, even.
Ultimately, this is a fun, quick, scorching hot read, just prepare for an unpredictable rollercoaster of goofiness. Perfect for Aquarius season!

I absolutely adore all of Kimberly Lemming’s books and novellas and was sooooooo excited to read this book!
In this new book, fans of Kimberly Lemming’s work will recognize the quirky humor, sass, and overall low-stress/fun/weird vibes from her previous work. I also LOVED that this book was a MMF romance and explored that dynamic in a fun and sexy way.
However, this book was not as successful with world building, plot, or tension building as Mead Mishaps. As someone who has read quite a bit of alien romance (and adores Ice Planet Barbarians), this fell short in how it approached it our main character’s conflicting emotions, language barriers and learning curves, as well as the tension-building. This book felt like it was trying to do too much, which distracted from the things that would have worked really well (save some of your ideas for the sequels, Kimberly! You have so many good ones!)
All this being said, I would still recommend this book to fans of Kimberly Lemming. And of course, I will be reading any follow ups to this book. I’m hoping that with the world building established in this book, we might find that the next books are even better.

Oh my goodness, how does she do it. Kimberly lemming has a way with her books. I laugh out loud all the time. They're so easy to read and such a treat that it's like a bowl of popcorn, you get so immersed that it's done before you know it and you are left wanting more. Obsessed. Cannot wait for more.
