Dorothy gets dropped onto a strange planet only to fall for not one, but two, aliens. If you enjoyed Kimberly Lemming's first series, "Mead Mishaps," you will enjoy this new upcoming series called "Cosmic Chaos," from her. This cover art is gorgeous ❤️ and I would love to see it as a special edition! I love the Wizard of Oz references! And it features a dinosaur 🦕, major points in my eyes!

I had such a fun time reading this book,
1. I love the little connections that i could find to Wizard of oz, BUT I also thought it gave me some the lion, the witch and the wardrobe vibes.
2. The world that was built was great. There was such a good balance of fantasy and reality, while also giving you a lot of space to build your scenery around it. I’d be so interested seeing it all laid out how the author intended it to look because this world was so fun.
3. The characters were great. I liked that while they are a throple there wasn’t a love interested i completely hated. I loved both of them and thought they were all a good match together.
4. It was genuinely funny. I loved the interns character.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc! I absolutely loved the Mead Mishaps series and fell in love with this author. I had high hopes for this new addition to Kimberly Lemmings line up. Sadly, this one fell flat for me. I was having a hard time following along and staying engaged. I think the planet wasn’t interesting enough for me to stay engaged or it just felt a little all over the place with no true plot. I did really enjoy Toto’s character! 2.75/5

this was lighthearted fun with a bit of spice.

I really enjoyed the animal sidekick, our MC woman in stem, and the relationship that the love interests had with each other (low key more than with our MC, because they were both just kinda obsessed with her without more dimension). The alien companion (I just pictured it as the Duolingo owl, but I’m not sure I have any basis for that?) was amusing as well.

if you think too hard about it, the consent politics in this book weren’t great, but I thought about it in the same way I do ice planet barbarians and went ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. it’s a silly book and it features a black nerdy woman being adored and valued, which I think is worth noting as something valuable in and of itself. some of the romance is quite sweet (outside of the noted dubcon-ness), and I really did enjoy the inner monologue of our MC- in her panicking moments and her moments of self-efficacy. all in all, a cute monster-ish romance with a fun heroine and super fun world.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this early!

I have previously only read one Kimberly Lemming book - her first in her Mead Mishaps books - and it introduced me to the world of reading books simply for a fun, completely unserious time. That one I thought was rather, for lack of a better term, "crazy" - but when I got to this one, it was balls-to-the-wall INSANITY. In a good way, I think.
I tried to explain this book to my friend and the only way I could was if you took the Ice Planet Barbarian books, amped up the funny and irreverent language/storytelling that you get from Kimberly Lemming, and threw it together in a blender with a technicolour drag show performance of The Wizard of Oz, with some sprinkles of dinosaurs; but yet you're only at the cusp of this book. While incredibly light hearted and funny, this book is HORNY to the max (for me, at least, it was very horny and immediately so) which isn't always a hit for me, but this time... it kind of worked?
I don't love the whole "insta-love" tropes in books, which was my main problem with the relationship in That TIme I Got Drunk (etc), but in this one, while still not my favourite, I kind of didn't mind the way it was brought about? I was trying to keep up with the insane worldbuilding that we were getting and the aliens and the oh yeah, instantly horny main character who can now talk to a lion.
This is not in any way a brilliant book, it kind of felt like the author cooked up a bunch of random ideas whilst high, then threw a dart at them to pick what she'd include in these pages/in the world... which kind of worked, for how nuts this narrative was. I think Kimberly Lemming fans will EAT THIS UP - and I think those who are fresh to her, but love a light hearted fun romp of a time will also find this quite enjoyable.

I will say, if I so much as turn on a touch of my critical thinking brain, it starts to tear this book apart. This is not a book to read for a serious, quote unquote "GOOD" literature time. This is for fun. This is a "crack book", something to read for no brain power, just to have a good time.

If you've read any of Kimberly Lemming's other books, you know you're in for a outrageous --in a good way-- sexy ride with this new series as well. It was a buck wild romp across the stars that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you're in the mood for a steamy kinky book with a fun plot along the way, this is a good place to start. The book had everything I had hoped for: it centered a protagonist of color, female pleasure was celebrated instead of shamed, and the characters developed effective communication and boundary setting skills as the story progressed. I had pretty high expectations after reading the author's previous books and I was not disappointed with this one in the slightest. If you liked "That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon" or Katee Robert's "Neon Gods", this is likely the book for you.

3.5⭐️ If a classic 60s alien abduction movie was made into a porno and set in the present time then had a baby with Jurassic Park…. This would be it.

This book was fantastic! I laughed so hard, and laughed some more. I loved reading her Mead Mishaps series, but this trek into outer space just knocked it out of the park. Alien specialities, language barriers solved with a kiss, and the Intern. I couldn’t get enough of Toto and Intern. This book was marvelous and I can’t wait to add a copy to my shelf.

I've loved her other books, and this one did not disappoint--an excellent combination of making fun of and using the tropes of the books in question.

Let’s just say “a time was had.” I found myself laughing, clutching my pearls, and kicking my feet so many times while reading this! The characters were down to earth and the plot was one of a kind. Highly recommend this read and I’ll be checking out her backlog!

Katee Robert recommended this and I JUMPED towards requesting for it. Her recommendation did not disappoint in any way. This was HILARIOUS and I was so giddy the entire time, like kicking my feet tee-heeing my way through it. 100/10

As I've come to expect from Kimberly Lemming, this book was a great mix of fun, steam, silliness, and a story I could just sink into. If you've read her other stuff, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy this book. I wasn't expecting this to be a why choose book, but I was here for it. I'm really hoping we get another book and soon because I need to know what else is going on with some of these characters. I was laughing throughout this book and found the absurdity to just make sense given the situation. If you're looking for something fun with pretty much no connection to reality, this will be for you.

Kimberly Lemming brings a fresh and fun perspective to romance novels, and I’ve enjoyed her previous work. However, this book wasn’t quite for me. Readers who love adventure and romance may find it more to their liking.

3.75 ⭐️ so unserious and so so fun, I found it super fast paced and read it in just a few hours, it's a book that I’d recommend to anyone who simply wants to ✨ laugh ✨, I loved Dory as the protagonist and looooooved the spicy scenes! iykyk

I think I say this every time I finish a Kimberly Lemming story, but THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE. I loved everything about this book. although from Lemming I don't know why I would ever expect anything less. It's full of fun, but also has serious depth and character growth. Every character is so well written and layered and completely individual they seem to jump off the page. The world building is like nothing I've ever seen before, but I was completely immersed. Seeing the world through Dory's eyes as a Biologist is so perfect. She gives just the right amount of insight and description and speculation on the environment, and aliens - it's everything I didn't know I wanted from a narrator (I also loved the do you want to scream at some plants banter/in-joke). And TOTO - I didn't know that I needed a talking lion, but I do. He was perfectly done and I am obsessed.

This book seamlessly blends so many genres that from any other author I would be worried, but Lemmings uses the genre blending to make something even better than I could have expected. I will trust Lemming to write literally anything now, please let her just write. I desperately need more of her books in my life ASAP - please!

I absolutely love this book!! It's the perfect combination of funny, smutty, and overall laugh-out-loud. I immediately fell in love with the main character and of course Toto! Everything that Dory thought and did would be exactly how I would react and that's why I love it even more. Now, the main men-- I love a "why choose" trope and this one delivered both types of men you want. I don't think I can even pick which one I liked more. I

I thought everything with the plot, moved so seamlessly and it was a fabulous pace where I didn't want to put it down. I would say, the one little downside I had was the final fight/argument at the end with the other King. I thought it was a bit weak considering there was supposed to be this MASSIVE. feud between the two clans.

I hope there is more to this series because I cannot get enough. of this author!.

Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-mfm scifi contemporary romance
-alien abudction
-a horny love concoction
-hilarious pet lion
-sword crossing

This was the aboslutely bonkers and funtime I have come to expect from Kimberly Lemming. Her twist on an alien abduction story was so much fun and Dory was a great heroine, sarcastic and not putting up with anyone's crap. If you're looking for a bonkers of a time this is the book for you.
