If Lemming wasn't already an auto-buy author for me, this book definitely cemented her as one. Dorothy, an aspiring wildlife biologist is on the field one day and suddenly finds herself whisked away to an alien planet that has a variety of species - from Earth and otherwise. I loved Dorothy's character and the whole crew that she accumulates. This is my fourth book by Lemming and I've loved it as much as the other three. All of her books are PERFECT for a fun, brain break read where you don't have to think too hard. I love that these books know exactly what they're trying to be, and because of that, they succeed. Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC!

This story was SO FUN. It’s the first alien romance I’ve read and I didn’t really know what to expect but it was so entertaining without being overly cringey. Dory was hilarious and I loved the banter between her, Toto, Sol, and Lok. The spicy scenes were insane but in the best possible way and the plot in between kept me turning the pages too.

Thank you Berkley for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

This was my first alien/monster romance and while I don't think I'll dive more into the subgenre, I really liked the author's humorous writing style. It was entertaining, even if the content is not what I'm usually drawn to. I don't know if I'd recommend this to anyone who reads mostly contemporary romance, but if you've dabbled in omegaverse, ice planet barbarians, or romantasies like ali hazelwood's "bride" you might enjoy it!

This was hard for me to get into but I was completely and utterly hooked by chapter 3. I loved how unique this was aliens abducting people about to die so its less likely to disrupt what they were doing on Earth and families could mourn them and "move on" with their lives.

This also had my favorite fated mates in it. Toto stole the show for me and made me sad I couldn't talk and befriend a lion in real life :)

I also loved that although, this female made reckless decisions she at least weighed the pros and cons and was trying to be selfless in his decisions that risked her life.

This was such a fun ride and felt like coming back home to the writing that made me fall in love with Kimberly's work.

Let me find an alien with a tail!

I loved how funny and yet spicy this was. Another amazing read by Kimberly Lemming.

One thing Kimberly will do is give us banter with a side of love and warmth. It's the perfect light read for when you are needing something to make you laugh.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com
By @kimberlylemming

If you know me, then you know I love an alien romance! 😂 This book was the perfect palate cleanser after Onyx Storm. I absolutely love Toto so much. I don’t normally laugh while reading, but this book had me giggling.

I was very invested in the first quarter of the story. I loved the fun bantering between Dorothy and Toto's. But once the love interests were introduced, the story fell apart. There was so much going on that the narrative got messy. And I quickly lost interest in the romance and the alien aspect of the story. I give this book 2.75/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for the opportunity to review I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming.

dorothy valentine is so close to getting her ph.d. in wildlife biology when, on an expedition, she’s attacked by a lion. instead of dying, she’s rescued…and abducted…by aliens. when dory and the lion escape their captors, they crash-land on an alien planet that has dinosaurs. they’re saved by an alien named sol and later team up with lok, who may or may not be a war criminal. as they explore this new planet and battle prehistoric creatures, dory can’t deny the attraction growing between the three of them.

i was SO excited to hear that kimberly lemming had a new book coming out! i loved the mead mishaps series, and i knew this book would be just as, if not even more, incredible. sure enough, i had a great time reading this. i loved how dory’s passion for wildlife biology flourished on this new planet. i also loved the romance, which is good since this is, after all, a romantic sci-fi/fantasy book. i highly recommend this, and i can’t wait for book two!

Ok so I love Kimberly Lemming and her writing style so much. However this book was a little more smutty than I was expecting especially early on. I was thinking it would be like her others books where we got almost halfway through or even over halfway through but no it was like 22% of the way in and then immediately went into a like fight scene and I was not expecting it. It took a VERY long time for me to get into the romance however I did really like all of the main characters by the end (Toto was my favorite to probably no ones surprise). I do think I might have liked this way better if it honestly wasn't a romance or if nothing had really happened until the 50% mark. The first smut scene just really threw me off and if it wasn't placed where it was placed (even though technically it makes sense story wise it does not mean I like that) I do think this could have been another 4.5 or even 5 star read from Kimberly

y'all I don't normally read sci-fi, but this book is definitely for everyone! two alien love interests that had me rethinking my stance on tails, a lion that talks, plus a bunch of dinosaurs that maybe shouldn't be there?!
if you've read that time i got drunk and saved a demon, this book has the same signature humor. the whole thing was such a fun time and spicy!!! I was reading at work and put it down, like maybe this is a read at home kind of book spicy haha highly recommend

thank you to berkley romance for the free copy, I had the best time reading it 🖤

I love that this is basically a funny concept taken totally seriously. The title is hilarious and the writing is witty. The humor did not fall flat, which is nice because I have a tendency to cringe at forced humor in novels. The plot flowed nicely and it is overall a fun, light read. You get exactly what the title promises.

I’m not sure what to say about this book. It’s a crazy and fun plot, but the sheer quantity of interspecies sex was off putting to me.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you to Berkley Romance for the advance reader copy and to PRH Audio for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own.

This is an absolutely bonkers romance. The title and cover tell you a bunch. Beyond that, what you need to know is that Dorothy is a woman in STEM, studying for her PhD in biology. I think it's also helpful to know that it's a poly romance with two male aliens.

This was a great escape that definitely made me laugh and scoff. Some of the one liners were simply fabulous. And I really appreciated the asides about alien versions of grants and academia.

But the romance was a miss for me. It was an extreme version of instalust. And I wanted a bit more connection beyond chemistry. That said, I'm still quite intrigued by the teasers for the next book. So if you're willing to completely suspend disbelief for a funny and steamy time, this book could be for you.

3.75 stars rounded up

Thank you Berkley romance for the free book.
Kimberly Lemming is an auto-read author for me. I am confident at this point I will always laugh out loud at some point during any of her books and this one did not disappoint. I would try to explain the jokes but I can’t tell a story like she can 😭 iykyk: class A species, human enrichment items, the intern (esp how she woke up one morning), Ms Saber Tooth, and the risks of intellectual property theft in outer space 😂

The title says it all but one thing the cover doesn’t indicate- this is why choose! Two rivals actually 😈 this was just so much fun, don’t think about it that hard (but even if you do the worldbuilding actually checks out)

I think if you are new to this author this book is not entry level. I would read her mead series first.

This really committed to being over the top that it was fun all the way through. And it was spicier than I anticipated. Hilarious, cute, fun!

This book was absolutely ridiculous in the best way!
Was it out of my comfort zone?
Oh yes!
Did it make me uncomfortable at times?
Also yes.
Did I laugh like hell?
Most definitely.
I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm trapped in a Rom-Com is super spicy with a capital H in HOT, so it isn't for everyone;
but if funny, madcap, crazy plotting and why choose crazy alien smut sounds like fun, it's likely it will be for you.

Delightful romp featuring a biologist, a talking lion, hot aliens, dinosaurs, and an owl like creature who really misunderstood human history. Highly recommended.

Just tons of fun. I will read anything Kimberly Lemming writes.
An over-the-top sci-fi plot with so much spice. Who doesn't want two incredibly hot aliens lusting over you? Why choose just one?
The side characters are all so adorable. I can't wait for more silliness from the Intern.

“Before you, a vine was just a vine. Now I fret over their plans for world domination. You make the mundane precious.”

After the longest few weeks, this book was just what I needed. It is WILD; chaotic, bizarre and endlessly absurd, but in the best way. There are dinosaurs, talking animals, multiple alien species, Tamagotchi’s, evil kings, and much more.

From my experience with monster/ alien romances that include the mate component, insta-love is usually present to some extent. I don’t enjoy the insta-love trope in contemporary romance, but with the forced proximity, life or death situations and typical mate biological component, I will allow it and enjoy it. If I get hit by a dart carrying an alien love potion, gain 2 mates and need to rely on sexy aliens to survive, falling in love during the course of a few days is the least of my problems.

The book is told in single POV from Dory’s perspective as she navigates life on this new planet with 2 alien mates, a talking lion and a talking owl alien bird. Honestly, the whole time I pictured it as a character from Owl Diaries, a series my kids love. Dory handled the situation better than I would and I loved her curious nature, resilience and bravery.

When I read books like this, I am just reminded how uncreative my brain is. I don’t know how Kimberly Lemming thinks of all these things, but WOW. I am so impressed by her unique creativity, humor and imagination. My brain could never.

The humor I enjoyed in My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine plus Ruby Dixon’s IPB series gives an approximation of what you can expect in this book. I cannot wait for book 2 because the easter eggs in this one!! GIMME.

Read if you like:
•Alien adventure romances
•MMF triad
•Only one bed
•Talking animals
•Women in stem (fmc is a wildlife biologist)
•Digs at the patriarchy (we should all like this)
•Creative use of Tails
•Creative use of Tamagotchi’s

Thank you to Berkley Romance for the early copy; all thoughts are my own.
