a SOLID 4.5 stars!!
this book is honestly so fun!! it's definitely out of this world, but like that's what i signed up for when i started it 🤭 this was my first book by kimberly lemming, so i wasn't quite sure what to expect, but let me tell you, i had a great time!! it was funny! it was wild! it was spicyyyy. definitely recommend for anyone who wants to read monster romance and have a good time!
thank you Berkley Romance, Berkley Pub & Netgalley for the arc & the finished copy! this is my honest review.

A zany, erotic sci-fi romance with dinosaurs and talking lions? Count. Me. IN!
I had so much dang fun reading this! This is the first book of Kimberly Lemming's new Cosmic Chaos series. I originally found and fell in love with Lemming's writing through the Mead Mishaps series. She has such a fun, quick-witted style that instantly makes you feel connected to the characters. This book is jam-packed with equally hilarious and lovable characters, mixed with constant non-stop zany adventures.
There are some disclaimers to this one though, because the romance in this book may not be for everyone. First, it's extra EXTRA spicy (you have been warned, wink wink). There are also some romance tropes that could turn some folks away, so please check trigger warnings before diving in. But if you're down for a surprise, get ready for a wild ride and bucketloads of smut!
Overall, this was such a fun book that doesn't take itself too seriously. I adore Lemming and cannot wait to read all the wonderful, spicy hilarity that she brings into this world!
Thank you to Berkley for a complimentary review copy of this title.

Lemming’s books are always such a fun and lighthearted read and this one is no exception. I wasn’t sure how the sci-fi setting would work (given that the others have been fantasy), but it was such a fun read! Dorothy Valentine is on her way to finishing her PhD in wildlife biology when suddenly everything goes sideways. Attacked by a lion and then waking up aboard an alien spaceship, crash landing with said lion onto an alien planet with dinosaurs and hot alien men, and none of the plants or strange human objects on this planet being quite right, she’s got a lot to deal with while deciding if she wants to go back home. Toto (the lion) quickly became one of my favorite characters and the rushed research/nepotism arc felt too relatable!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

“Getting a pep talk from a lion was not how I expected my day to go”
Kimberly Lemming is an author I picked up by chance maybe 2023? Simply because of the name of her books. I mean, they are masterful in themselves. I met her at @loveyall last year and thought, “I will absolutely follow this author into anything they write” so here we are 2025, and I’m still heeding to that thought.
Lemming’s books are a genre in themselves for me. They’re part whimsical fantasy, part cozy fantasy, part romcom, part romantasy. Very cottage core with a big ole dollop of snark. Alien RomCom (how I shorten it) follows this fun recipe of sass, badass, spice, and romance. Read the warnings in the front. There’s a nonconsensual bit, but I read the warnings and said ok.
I love the nod to Oz. Our FMC is named Dorothy, she names the lion on the trek with her Toto, and well, she does try to click her shoes 3 times to escape. (It doesn’t work) The comedic timing was hilarious. They’re trying to escape and then try to get down and sorry. Dory’s response is hilarious and what I think is Lemming’s signature style. It’s a why choose situation x fated mates and the why choose is a choice! Loved Kimberly Lemming as always. Out Tuesday!
QOTD: What are you starting the week of reading?

And now it’s time for chaos, comedy, and a lot of alien anatomy. ... The book is fast-paced and easy to read, featuring a cast of quirky characters around Dorothy, including Sol, the soft but skilled Sankado hunter, Lok, the danger-boy warrior, Toto the Lion, who is basically the Tairn of this story, and the alien scientist owl-creature called Intern. Each of them adds to the overall charm and humor of the story but they're not characters who make me feel what they're feeling; they play out more like avatars in a sexy video game. However, the found family dynamic between Dorothy and her ragtag group of misfits is endearing amidst all the madness. That unrelenting silliness makes it a solid pick for anyone who needs to escape from the real world. Just be ready to wander into “lol that's random” territory.
Let's talk about the romance. It has a heat rating of 8 million on the Scoville scale, but the swoon levels weren't enough to feed my emotional Tamagotchi. Dorothy stumbles and falls headfirst into the why-choose trope, but I struggled to choose the Sankado. Lemming's creativity is undeniable, but these scaly MMCs are a bizarre cocktail of lizard, satyr, and vacuum cleaner, with tails that, um… suck things. There's also a non-consensual aphrodisiac moment that sliced more swoon off the romance. While handled carefully, it might not sit well with every reader. And yet, for the adventurous, this book isn't afraid to test readers' comfort zones or to create a spicy human centipede. Forget your fave sandwich cookie, this is sandwich nookie.
There's no denying the laughs or the world-building in a Kimberly Lemming book, but I didn't come out of I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com feeling the love. I giggled a lot though. Despite not quite hitting the highs of the Mead Mishaps series, I'm interested in where the Cosmic Chaos series will go next. I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com is an entertaining and unapologetically wild start. Fans of Lemming's will get the humor and chaos we crave and newcomers should prep for a spicy, unhinged adventure that is all gas, no brakes. This book isn't as universal as the previous series, but it's an out-of-this-world romp, that's good for a joyride (and some double-stuffed sandwich nookie).

I Got Abducted By Aliens And Now I’m Trapped In A Romcom, is the first book in The Cosmic Chaos series by Kimberly Lemming. In the book we meet scientist Dorry. right before she is attacked by a lion, her and the lion who she’ll Eventually call Toto gets abducted by aliens. she escapes to a planet that at first she thinks may be earth but when she sees the strange creatures in pink Tyrannosaurus rexs, she knows she is far from the planet She calls home. Unfortunately, for Dori, things are about to get much worse. She will be force to take a serum and instead of having one want to be suitor, she will have to… What’s a girl to do trapped on a strange planet with two strong men vying for her attention? I am not familiar with Throuple romances not in my personal life nor in my book reading, but having said that it said it was humorous, so I was down to read it plus, I love a good alien romance. Although there were many times throughout the book. I thought it went from funny to silly not to mention they’re weren’t that many swoony moments. Also, I believe saying you’re in love with two people equally is like saying you don’t have a favorite child, but having said that I would still recommend this book. It is quirky although at times they do lower their self to bathroom humor and very detailed sex scenes but as I know some people like that, I’m not writing it as a negative just something I personally didn’t like in the book. Unless the next book involves a throuple, then I will probably read it. I was given this book to read it as an ark and hopefully to give personal opinions about what I’ve read and that is definitely what this is. #NetGalley, #BerkeleyPublishing, #TheBlindReviewer,#KimberlyLemming, #CosmicChaos, #IGotAbductedByAliensAndNowI’mTrappedin a romcom,.

Everybody buckle up for the crazy and chaotic ride that is I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com! This romance was so fun and exciting, the story was completely jam-packed with adventure, near death experiences, and so much smut. I loved the unique plot and how the jurassic park vibes clashed with the sci-fi setting and aliens. The MMF romance was so steamy and I enjoyed how Dory, Sol, and Lok ran with the punches and their forced mating. While this is nothing like the Mead Mishaps series, Kimberly Lemming put her everything into this campy and vibrant romance, and I cannot wait to read the next book!

This was definitely a wild ride. This story wasn't short on adventure, humor, spice and ridiculousness. We find our FMC Dory working on her PhD moving one step closer to her dream of becoming a wildlife biologist but what she didn't imagine was being attacked by a lion, her and the lion being abducted and then said lion escaping with her becoming her new bestie/sidekick and landing on an island that is reminiscent of Jurassic Park. Talk about irony.
On this strange journey Dory and her sidekick Lion Toto is saved by a different alien being named Sol who is living on the dinosaur island and let's just say the shenanigans were nonstop.
As Dory, Toto and Sol navigate dangerous terrain; Dory is faced with another sexy alien who has been looking for her since he noticed her space vessel from the ski. Now Dory is faced with 2 sexy aliens vying for her affections. Things go from bad to worse when Dory, Toto, Sol and now Lok realize that they are on this dinosaur island for a reason and Dory is the key.
Dory is faced with a difficult decision since she knows that there is no way for her to return back home. The fact that she is at the mercy of the aliens responsible for her abduction wanting to use her and other abducted women as a mean of breeding; Dory is willing to accept her fate but, on her terms, only.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com is a delightful and steamy sci-fi romance that combines humor, adventure, and intergalactic intrigue. The story follows Dorothy Valentine, a wildlife biologist who, after a lion attack, finds herself abducted by aliens. Alongside her new lion companion, Toto, Dorothy crash-lands on a planet inhabited by dinosaurs. Here, she meets Sol and Lok, two captivating aliens who become her partners in both adventure and romance.
The novel's pacing is engaging, with a perfect blend of action, humor, and romance. The chemistry between Dorothy, Sol, and Lok is palpable, making their slow-burn, polyamorous relationship both believable and compelling. The narrative offers a fresh take on the rom-com genre, set against a vibrant and imaginative sci-fi backdrop.
This book is a must-read for fans of sci-fi romance that doesn't take itself too seriously. With its witty dialogue, sizzling chemistry, and a dash of heart-pounding action, this adventure-comedy delivers a perfect blend of humor, romance, and sci-fi that readers won't want to put down.

Dorothy Valentine is on a research mission to complete her PhD in wildlife biology when she’s attacked by a lion. She’s saved from the attack when they are abducted by aliens. In a bid to escape, Dory and the lion steal an escape pod and end up crashing onto an alien planet that also has dinosaurs. On their journey to get home, Dory and Toto the lion encounter aliens Sol and Lok. Dory is tasked with mating with both, and her time with them leads her to believe being on an alien planet may not be so bad after all.
This book is absolutely bonkers but in a fun way! It was a really enjoyable bit of escapism from the real world. Dory, Lok, and Sol made a delightful throuple.
The real stars of the show for me, though, were the side characters. Intern and Toto had me laughing the whole way through. They were perfect additions to balance out the adventure plot with comedic relief.

I absolutely judged a book by its cover and picked up this book because of the title. It was so weird and funny and sexy and over the top ridiculous, I loved it! It’s definitely raunchy (interspecies alien threesomes, anyone?), but I laughed so much and it is truly an incredible way to escape this planet’s woes

Thank you Berkley for the free digital ARC!
I love a book that takes you on a crazy and unpredictable adventure and this was that! One of my favorite things about Kimberly Lemming’s books is the unique story line and characters. I love being able to dive in a new world. I absolutely adored the relationship between Toto and Dory. I found myself giggling at their conversations. This was silly but in a good way. I needed a fun read in my life right now. Let me tell you, This was SOO entertaining. I loved that Lemming hooked me from the very beginning. I won’t spoil it you just need to give it a chance.👀 I enjoyed the Dynamic between Dory, Lok and Sol. This was a bizarre and amusing ride. Dory is such a smart, witty and strong fmc. The only thing I would have enjoyed seeing was multiple povs between the love interests or just a little more build up in the chemistry between them. I think the different povs could have been great for allowing the readers to get a better sense of their strong connection. Lastly, at times I got lost with all the world building, but that might just be the fact that I typically don’t read this genre. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I really want more from Kimberly. I’m sad I’ve read all her books.😅

Kimberly Lemming has done it again! This book was so funny and interesting, I loved Dorothy! She was a typical sarcastic and hilarious main character as most of Kimberly’s are. This book is the definition of no thoughts just vibes, it’s silly yes but fun. I loved it, the spice was good and if you’re just looking for something quick and easy to read then this is the book for you.

4.5 stars
Okay, between the crazy title and the even wilder cover picture, I knew I was in for quite the ride with this one, and I was NOT disappointed! I’m new to these types of alien romances/science fiction romances, just started getting my feet wet with the Ice Planet Barbarian series in the past couple years. I wasn’t sure if I’d read this one, but when the publisher reached out with a widget for me to download, I couldn’t pass it up.
First just the part at the beginning where she was doing her job on Earth resonated with my little former science teacher heart. Not to mention that she was studying meerkats, because I can go watch them at the zoo forever, and so it was fun to hear some of the things she was watching them do. Jump to when she wakes up on the spaceship and suddenly I was definitely put in mind of Dixon’s IPB series. Of course then things got their big mix up. The crash to this planet, finding out what this planet is for, all was it’s own wild and wacky part of the storyline!
Of course the author had to figure out a way they could all communicate with each other, and so there is a solution, not sure if I completely understood it, it happened so fast with the lion I might need to go back and reread to pick up some details. Because this first read through was all about the story. There was so much to this story, more than what it seems you might have. Even the aliens who had abducted Dory had a lot more going on at all times than they seemed.
I also have to say that the steam level in this was off the charts! While again it is hard to find the alien she is on the cover with attractive, you have to add in the lust/mating serum that she, Sol, and Lok were all shot with. And their tails. Dang. I see this author has similar types of stories out there already that I’ll have to probably check out. And I see that this is listed as part one of a series, so I’m wondering if the next person’s story will be the couple that the original aliens mated towards the end of the story.
The only issue that I had a little trouble with was the different names for things. Yes, I know it made sense that Sol and Lok’s people had their own names for the dinosaurs and other creatures and plants. But when the author would use those names as Dory thinking both of them in the same paragraph it was a bit confusing for me as the reader. So a very tiny issue really.
Oh yeah, the rom-com part of the title not only comes from the banter and mood of the story, but the fact that the aliens who had kidnapped Dory had used mating “guidebooks” to help get her to fall for Sol and Lok. These guidebooks were basically romance novels, or one guide to writing romance novels. One of the main rules they used to get them together was the one bed trope, literally houses with second stories that were just one bedroom with one huge bed.
If you’re looking for a steamy romp with aliens, and are a fan of the Ice Planet Barbarians series, this book is for you!

Okay this book was really fricken good time!! I laughed so much, and I binged it so fast. It pulled you in from the start.
I love a good alien romance but when a talking lion and then DINOSAURS show up you can count me in!!!!!
This had so many turns I didn't see coming, like dinosaurs lol but it fit the book perfectly. Like obviously by the cover you can see there's dinosaurs but when they get introduced you're like wait what?!
But in a good way!!!
Lok, Sol, Dory & Toto (let's not forget intern even though he pushed my buttons) were just so witty and funny that you wanted to see more of them! & they are here for a wicked good time 6° (if you catch my drift)

If you’re looking for a funny, fast, wild why choose monster romance. This is IT!!! I had a great ol time reading this one.
To my ice planet girlies out there - say hello to your next read.
I quite literally was cackling the whole book. The way there was every romance trope known to man smushed into this book and the way they addressed it was hilarious.

This is typical, delightful fun, goofy Kimberly Lemming fun. If anything, it's even zanier and goofier than her earlier series, but once the lion started talking, I knew I was in it for the full ride. And what a ride! Super happy that Kimberly Lemming is getting a full career of zany SFF rom-coms.

You know what, hell yeah 😂 these are always a little chaotic and a good time! Highly recommend this entire series for a good time.

I read this hella early because I needed something to make me happy, to make me laugh. And every single book that I’ve read by Lemming has done exactly what I needed it to. And now that I’ve finished it…. 10 out of 10, no notes. I loved it so much lol
This book was hilarious. That bird thing and the lion? I was cackling the entire time. I don’t think their romp through the jungle/forest (?) would be the same if it wasn’t for their comedic relief. I was afraid her going traditional would take away from her signature writing style, but she it was just the same and I couldn’t be happier.
Another thing that Kimberly kept the same was the spice. I can’t lie, I thought that was going to be different too because I knew there was no way that trad pub was going to be ok with the scenes she had before lol But in all honesty, nothing really changed? The spice scenes aren’t like every page and there aren’t a lot necessarily, but it was still spicy. This is a poly relationship (MMF) and there is a time when they’re together. I’m pretty sure there’s more poly books in trad pub, but I don’t think I’ve ever read one from Berkley lol I wasn’t expecting it from them, so kudos to them lol
The story itself was pretty cool tho. I hope if there’s ever a like group of aliens that come to our planet, I hope they’re like them lmao I get what they were trying to do, but they were going about it all wrong. There’s still some kinks that need to be worked out lol I do wish that she had given us some more world building because it seemed like it was a historical kind of feel? Idk it was weird. I thought for a large portion of the book that she was going to wake up from a dream or something. It was just really cool and a lot of fun. I’m glad she didn’t. It left room for sequels and listen, that’s all I could ask for lol
This was so much fun! I needed to smile and laugh during a really dark time, and Kimberly Lemming delivered. I can’t wait to see what else this series is going to bring us.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book was so fun! It reminded me so much of Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon but with dinosaurs!
The FMC, Dory, gets abducted by aliens right as a lion attacks, then crash-lands with said lion (Toto) onto a dinosaur-filled planet. There, Toto and Dory team up with two hot aliens, Sol & Lok. This book was filled with their adventures as Dory tries to decide if trying to go back to Earth is even worth it as well as steamy moments.
The world-building the author added into this romance book was great! Again very similar vibes to Ice Planet Barbarians. That is one thing that people don't realize Ice Planet Barbarians also has, fantastic sci-fi world that expands with every book in the series. I can't wait to read more in this world.
