I thought this was very cute and see why it's such a highly anticipated book. Both Lucie and Aiden were enjoyable characters that experienced growth throughout the story, especially Aiden as he struggled to open himself up to feeling anything for someone. Overall, it was great and I look forward to recommending it to my library patrons.

This! Book! I loved the nods to Sleepless in Seattle but also love that it became it's own book.

The chemistry between Aiden and Lucie was incredible. I loved all of the radio transcripts in this book and loved even MORE when it was a conversation between Aiden and Lucie. It was clear they were head over heels for each other, but they meshed so well, it gagged me. I wanted to be a listener in Baltimore witnessing them falling in love over the radio. It was incredible!

Lucie was a great character! I love that she was a mechanic and it was briefly mentioned some men were turned off by it, but she didn't have any objections to it. She loved her job. She was a great balance of strong and determined mixed with insecure in dating and unsure.

Aiden was also so great! He was a host of a dating/romance show, but no longer believed in it. I love how touchy and obsessed he was with Lucie. Even though he felt like he couldn't be the man Lucie needed, he still didn't know how to let her go. In the end, I felt like he had a good development over the book. I wouldn't have minded more background on him or maybe more time with him and his family rather than just one scene, but I'll live.

I loved the relationship Lucie had with her baby daddy, Theo. They were good friends and co-parents and there was never any animosity or weirdness between them. It's rare to see a relationship like theirs were they were former lovers and have a kid together work out so well. It was very positive.

Overall, I loved this book! It was romantic, honest, and a fun take on a classic rom-com. I cannot WAIT for the other books in the series.

If your a Nora Ephron fan, this is a MUST read. This book is very much inspired by the classic, Sleepless in Seattle & you can tell. It was charming, adorable and the romance was *chefs kiss*. B.K Borrison is becoming one of my favorite romance authors. When I see her books I immediately fall in love.

This book was absolutely incredible, I loved every moment of it! I blew through the entire 420 pages without getting up or taking a break, I was so enthralled with BK’s writing, I never wanted this story to end! I loved Lucie and Aiden so much, I don’t think I’ve ever rooted for two characters more. This was just the cutest, sweetest book and I’m literally obsessed. If you love Sleepless in Seattle, this book will be your absolute favorite!

my dear friends... B.K Borison doing some of her best work here!

This book is set up for the cutest story line essentially right off the bat - she doesn't miss a beat in setting up the world of Lucie (single mom, mechanic & is open to trying to love) and Aiden (Love advice Radio host who has given up on love) and the Baltimore & Nora Ephron setting!
Aiden & Lucie - they will steal your hearts I promise!

From the moment these two spoke in the story, their chemistry was radiating off the page. I felt like Aiden felt a light in their first interaction and It sparked the beginning of their relationship (I was so giddy - it was adorable). The two and their not so roomy booth have so much simmering tension between them. The soft incidental touches, they eye contact, the LONGING, ugh. Obviously the radio show is a large part of this story, but their interactions in this book are a highlight of the book!! Aiden is seriously. Aiden is caring and supportive and who drop anything for her. Lucy is hesitant and forward and is going after what she wants.
The evolution of their relationship is adorable. It's fun and heartwarming. It very much gives of the giddy new relationship nervous vibe and I loved that. I feel like we got a good view of how their both adjusting to wanting and being wanted and being put into a space where they can get hurt.

Extra Thoughts:
- there is a "who did this to you" scene and i melted literally
- I love how HUNG UP Aiden is. He tended to her EVERY need (i'm serious)
- the thong song has a whole new meaning to me because of this book
- there were a silly amount of mentions about the shadows on their faces
- the banter was pretty damn good
- i unfortunately didn't totally vibe with the spicy scenes
- i feel like Aiden was real closed off
- MAYA YOU WIN DAUGHTER OF THE YEAR

Fave Quotes:
“I stand there in the middle of the bar and stare at her. Coincidentally, I realize I’m fucked”
"long time listener, first time caller"

Overall, this book is actually adorable - it does indeed give off Nora Ephron/90s rom com vibes - you will be kicking your feet - you will love the characters - and you will love their love!!

Thank you to berkleyromance & Berkleypub for the free book!

Wow! I could not put this down. I just loved Aiden and Lucie - their dynamic was so funny and sweet. It was the perfect balance of tension building and releasing. I also loved the supporting characters from Lucie's daughter, her ex and his husband, to each of their friends/coworkers. As I read, I felt like I was part of their family or friend group. I truly can't wait to read book 2 in this series! I hope you pick this up over Valentine's day and love it just as much as I did!

Thank you to Netgalley, B.K. Borison and Berkley Publishing group for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First time caller by BK Borison is the perfect Valentine’s Day rom com. It follows Lucie and Aiden who serendipitously meet when Lucie’s daughter calls into Aiden’s radio show asking for dating advice for her mother. Think Sleepless in Seattle meets The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon.

Tropes✨: forced proximity, single mom, grumpy/sunshine, found family, dual POV, slow burn

This was very fun, made me laugh out loud, and was definitely swoon worthy. There was a lot of tension and yearning between the love interests, along with charming & whitty banter. And while I found a lot of the elements of the story very interesting, I also felt that the story never fully hooked me. I believed in the romance and loved the concept, but found that it started to feel very monotonous. It was well written, but I think most of my issues lie within the pacing of the book.

It’s a story that I was interested in while I was reading it, but I never felt a particular urge to pick it back up once I turned my kindle off. It was too long and had a lot of lulls. As the story progressed, it seemed never ending and felt very predictable. Ultimately, my expectations might’ve been too high, but I really expected to love this and think if it was 100-150 pages shorter it would’ve really worked for me! This is not a bad book by any means, and I am confident it will find/ already has found its audience. I will likely continue in this series, this one just kind of missed the mark for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Very cute romance. I will say the first few chapters were a bit slow, but once I got into it I was hooked. Very romantic. Aiden is great MMC, and I like the family dynamic Lucie has with her ex.

BOOK REVIEW: FIRST TIME CALLER☎️💘

If you’re looking for the perfect book to pick up this Valentines Day, look no further! A hopeless romantic meets a jaded radio host in this Sleepless in Seattle inspired romcom!

What I loved about this one:
☎️the premise of the two MCs cohosting a radio show to help Lucie find love
🎬the Nora Ephron movie vibes this book gave off!
☀️Grumpy/sunshine trope
🕯️Slow burn and pining throughout
💬Witty banter
🥰the side characters! both Lucie and Aiden’s families added to the story!

Overall I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for the next in the series, And Now Back to You - slated to be released in 2026!🤩

This book will be out Feb 11, 2025.

This is my 2nd book by BK and after reading the first Lovelight Farm book, I wasn't sure if BK's writing style was for me. But other reader friends boosted about how great her books are including this one and I thought let me give her another try.

Well I am happy to report that I absolutely loved this one!!! Growing up I used to listen to syndicated talk shows so this felt very nostalgic and makes me wonder if these types of shows still exist. Its been a while since I've watched Sleepless in Seattle but I know that this was a retelling of the movie which honestly I love any call back to the 90s with a modern flair.

"Do you think I'll get my magic?"
"Nah, Lucie. I think you're the magic."

This is more of a slow burn but the kind of slow burn that at least for me that I enjoy. You get these little moments leading up to the big moment that keeps you fed.

Aiden was smitten from Lucie right from the beginning and was trying so hard to suppress those feelings. Don't worry you do learn why he feels the way he feels and what he does to overcome it. I love that we got to see his slightly jealous side any time Lucie would go on dates. And then how protective he would become when those dates would ultimately be sour. Lucie was attractive to Aiden from the start but didn't think he was ever the option since he was so gung ho on not ever wanting to find love. I love Lucie's relationship with her daughter Maya as well as to her best friend/daughter's father Greyson. They work so well as a blended family. I was glad that Greyson and his husband Mateo especially was a part of the whole process. Aiden & Lucie just worked so well together! One of my favorite moments happened early on during one of her dates that ultimately never happened and Aiden shows up. *SWOOOOOOOON*

The book was on the longer side but I felt like it still flowed really well. I paired my reading with the audio and thought the audio production was great. There are these vignettes between chapters where its from the radio show and in the audio it sounded like it was on the radio.
E.J. Bingham and Hathaway Lee were spectacular as our MMC and FMC. I love Hathaway's deep sultry sounding voice which honestly is perfect for radio so it worked so well for this narration. This appears to be E.J.'s first audiobook and I would certainly listen to future books narrated by them.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series! I recommend this if you love Sleepless in Seattle and just love a feel good romance that will make you laugh and smile.

it’s giving rom-com perfection! 🤭 i adored this book mind, body, and soul. aiden and lucie were absolutely adorable. aiden is the sweetest little moody golden retriever and lucie… can we please be friends? i want to hang out with maya and patty (and everyone, let’s be soooo for real) and eat cruffins at the café! please, i beg. like i’m begging you to read this book. it’s so good and i HIGHLY recommend it!!! this was the easiest 5 stars and soothed my romantic heart 🥹🫶🏾

thank you so, so much for netgalley and berkley for this arc of first-time caller!! 🩷

First Time Caller is only **very loosely** inspired by Sleepless in Seattle. It borrows the single parent + radio show to find love aspect of Sleepless, but is really just a standard issue contemporary romance set in Baltimore. Lucie is happily co-parenting with her ex/childhood bestie and his husband. But her daughter Maya thinks she's lonely and it's time to find love. Maya calls up Aiden Valentine's struggling Heartstrings show and it becomes the show's mission to find Lucie some dates. But sometimes the one you need is right in front of you. It's a bit of a slow burn, but when the two finally get together, the heat is on.

For me, First Time Caller falls into the category of "it's fine." I ended up mildly disappointed because it ended up only being vaguely inspired by Sleepless. I think I was expecting more of a retelling. I also wished that there had been more audience interaction / social media posting about Lucie's search for love, rather than just a few interstitials.

CW: parent with cancer, parents who gave their kids ultimatums when its discovered Lucie is pregnant

I am absolutely floored by this book after reading. Aiden and Lucie have such a deep emotional bond and understand each other on such a beautiful level. This book had me laughing and crying and I cannot commend B.K. Borison enough for another novel well done! I would recommend this to anyone who loves a connection between characters that cannot be broken and a healthy dose of communication and true love.

I have not read the Lovelight Farm series but after reading this I imagine I would really enjoy it. This book is sweet in a 'might need to visit a dentist' way. I enjoyed how Lucie and Aiden's relationship worked, and how it was all started by a nosy twelve year old. Lucie also has a fantastic support system throughout the book. One think I liked is I feel like we've already the other characters that will be the MCs of later books, which might be a thing the author does, but as I mentioned I haven't read another one of their books before. I think both Lucie and Aiden carry a lot of baggage, but the way they manage to move through it, and understand each other seems really genuine and sweet. Overall, this is definitely a well-written book and I enjoyed how the story arc worked.

This is a Sleepless in Seattle inspired story. I loved the radio aspect. I loved the messing daughter & baby daddy. Seeing Aiden open up and come to terms with his relationship issues was so special. Thank you Berkley for the eARC!

this book was the PERFECT ROMANCE. if you love 90s romcoms (all hail 90minute movies and grand gestures!!!), but wish tom hanks would just yank meg ryan into a supply closet and … anyways. this is for you. actually, this is for everyone. bk, you just don’t miss, do you?

i enjoyed every page

This was super cute. Once I was able to get into it, I couldn’t put it down. I was swooning for Mr. Grumpy Aiden. The side characters in the book were written perfectly and blended perfectly into Aiden and Lucie’s story. I really enjoyed reading about Lucie and her relationship with her daughter. You could feel the love coming off the pages between them.

I loved the banter and slow burn between Aiden and Lucie but I was looking for a bit more. I do think it started off a little slow but it picked up after a while. What was lost on me was how immature they acted sometimes even though they were pushing 30. I struggle with the lack of communication, so at times I was frustrated BUT the build up to them finding each other was worth it in the end.

This story was so cute and lovable, you can’t help but fall in love with each of the characters, especially the side characters!

Thank you Berkley Romance and NetGalley for this wonderful E-ARC <3

not enough sleepless in seattle vibes based on the marketing!

definitely lulled in some parts; 50-100 pages could’ve easily been cut to make this more engaging.

I did enjoy the relationship development and writing! I just think this could’ve been edited better.

thanks for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
