Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for providing me with an alc to read.

I have had my eye on Lola Glass’s books for a while so when I saw this one up for request I grabbed it and I had a great time. I was confused at first as the first bit was so fast that I felt lost which likely wouldn’t have been quite as bad if I had read the previous series in this world but I figured it out quickly. This was a fun take on fated mates and heats as well as a cute and steamy romance. I loved the narrators and the audiobook was great.

When Elody accidentally triggers August’s mating heat, they have to wait it out in a cabin together and try to not mate. Only there has only ever been one other couple successful in not mating. But if they mate they are sealed together forever which may not be so bad if he wasn’t about to be imprisoned for months. If they are mated they both will have to go to prison which August won’t let happen.

I loved August and Elody and their friendship into love was adorable. They decide to team up to try and ride out the heat and during that find love with each other. They both are willing to go to the extreme to make sure the other is safe and it is sweet.

I really enjoyed this book and I definitely want to read more from Lola Glass. I highly recommend this audiobook as the narrators were fantastic.

I received this book for for free as an advanced reader audiobook copy.

I enjoyed the narrators. They did a pretty good job. This is dual POV with a male and female narrator.

Most of this is told from the POV of the heroine and I would've loved more from the hero.

I wish I could write this higher but the plot is and there were quite a few things that made this less fun than it could've otherwise been.

The whole premise is that they have gotten too close to each other and dragons send their potential mates into "heat". They have four weeks of excruciating need for sex in order to "seal the deal" Or resist and be able to walk away afterwards.

The world building is bizarre!

1. Dragons are only male
2. Once a dragon is mated they cannot fly unless their mate is with them
3. Therefore, most dragons don't want to find a mate because they'd like to fly!

The hero for whatever reason is supposed to go to jail for six months and so even though they have an unquenchable need for the sexy times, they must resist so that she doesn't have to go to jail with him.

I found it frustrating because he thinks that they are together but allows her to feel unsure about this. She ends up having to pursue him in order for them to have a relationship. And I really hate when the woman has to be pursuer because the man won't communicate clearly.

Safety deets
- No other men or other women; however, the hero is very jealous and possessive and doesn't want her to be touched or even wear anything that smells like anyone else.
- The hero is a virgin! So that is cool!
- The heroine has experience, having a past vampire boyfriend.
- We get to see them in their HEA In the epilogue.

Forced proximity spicy dragon drama!

Publisher's summary
I'm trapped in a cabin with a gorgeous dragon shifter.
Granted, I was the one who accidentally ignited his heat, an intense mating process.
So, it's kind of my fault. Whoops.
If we can resist sealing the bond by avoiding, uh, sealing the deal, we'll both be free to go.
If we can't, we'll be stuck together.
Forever.
Which wouldn't be that bad, if he wasn't about to be thrown in jail for doing some illegal crap to protect his sister.
But he is.
And if we become mates?
We'll both be forced into prison.
So I have to resist throwing myself at the gigantic dragon that my body is literally burning for… no matter how much I want him.

I am not into romance/spicy stories. Most of them have some triggers I just can't get past. However, this story, I loved. Yes, there were pretty spicy parts but not the submissive/dominant type story, if that makes sense. It was romantic, for a better word. The characters were going through something and worked as a team. The Narrators did a great job telling the story. I will look for the next book in this series from Lola Glass. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Steamy and sweet supernatural story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 🙂🥰☺️😎
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Elody - she lives in a world where humans know about supernaturals. She actually dated a vampire in the past, though he was not a good guy and ended up putting her in the hospital. Ever since then, she has been protective of other human women who date supernaturals. So, when she is in a coffee shop one day, studying for her college degree, and she sees a woman outside arguing with a very tall and unnaturally handsome man, she gets in between them to make sure he doesn’t get violent with her.

The Hero: August - he is a dragon shifter and former leader of the Thunder (his clan). Dragon shifters are the guards of the supernatural prison inside the mountain. August always knew that he wasn’t meant to be the leader. Most dragon shifters are born male, and when a female is born, they are human and sent away from the mountain to live with humans. When his sister Brynn was born and his parents died, he promised to raise her, which he did. When his brothers were not there to help protect her, he made a deal with the Villains to help protect her. The Villains were demon brothers and making this deal was against dragon law.

The Story: August was about to get put in supernatural prison for six months for making that deal, when he was arguing with his sister Brynn outside the coffee shop she owns. When Elody steps in, August touches her and the mating heat is passed from him to her. They are forced to spend four weeks together in his cabin to try to wait out the heat. He is given time before going to prison, but if they give in to the heat and form a bond, Elody would have to go to prison with August which would be very dangerous.

This was a good story, though there wasn’t a lot of conflict, and there was a lot of intimate scenes. It was steamy and sweet. I tend to love the normal girl in a paranormal world trope, and I liked that dragons were the least known of the supernaturals and there was a lot of mystery surrounding them. The dragon shifters also kept their secrets close to the vest and had rules about telling just anyone about them. I wish the plot was more fleshed out because I had questions as to why making that deal with the demons was so bad.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Nick Mondelli and Renee Thorne. Renee Thorne has a great voice. I usually don’t like female narrators that have deeper voices, but I enjoyed hers. I wasn’t all that fond of Nick Mondelli, though he only narrated a few chapters, so it worked out well.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for an early copy of the audiobook for Never Fall for A Dragon by Lola Glass in exchange for an honest review.

This was mostly spice and romance with a side of fantasy but I didn’t mind. It was honestly a great pallet cleanser.

Elody & August were super cute together and I’m kind of looking forward to the other friends hopefully getting together, iykyk.

If you’re looking for a short & spicy, no thoughts books, then this is perfect.

This is not a book with huge world building for character development, but it also doesn't claim to be. It's a sweet, standalone, spicy, dragon shifter romance with a happily ever after. A perfect book if you're looking for a quick pallet cleanser read or listen.

Fun, fast listen. It took a minute for me to accept the female narrator as sometimes her voice was as deep as the male counterpart. Easy, sexy story.

I loved this audiobook so much! I think if you treat it like monster erotica -- meaning if you just enjoy and don't take it too seriously that this book is so fun! It was absolutely ridiculous in the best way! I will definitely be reading more in the series! If you're looking for a fun read full of smut, you will not be disappointed!

A well meaning misunderstanding sets off dragon shifters August's heat at the worst possible time. He's supposed to turn himself in after breaking the law to protect his sister, but he refuses to drag a mate into the mess he made. All Elody has to do is resist the stoic dragon for the next month they'll be spending in his remote cabin.

Never Fall for a Dragon was a really fun, fluffy, steamy fated mates story. Just a great little escape. Fated mates always delivers and the twist of August's looming sentence added a fresh spin to the trope.

Synopsis: That time you cross paths with a Dragon shifter in heat, you (a human woman) instantly become mated with said Dragon Shifter and have to go and live with the Dragon Shifter for a period of time while you both fight the mating urges that NO other dragon shifter has ever been able to resist. Also, it's important to note you will be in terrible pain while trying to resist this abnormally large man who is stunning and irresistible. What could go wrong?!?!?
Format: Audiobook
Review: First and foremost, the audiobook/narration was great. It's also important to know this is my first dragon shifter romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sometimes, you need an easy read stuffed with all the fantastical smut you can find. If you are looking for a steamy-fun read with paranormal elements, then you will be happy with this pick.
Pros: Nickname Fireball. It's good, sexy, and fun!
Cons: This book started out with a bang…like the first chapter insta-mated. I wish there were some buildup, but I'm okay with it. It's low on plot but heavy on sexy fun.
Favorites Moments: There is a place called Mate Mountain
Recommend (Yes/No/Maybe): Yes, if you like sexy shifter romances
Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me the opportunity to review the title.

Never Fall for a Dragon
Mate Mountain #1
Lola Glass
Never Fall for a Dragon is the first book in a spicy new series.
This book got some pretty bad reviews, but I can’t figure out why. It is a fast read and a hot read. I do not like books about demons and there was a demon in the book, but I like dragons. I enjoyed this book. This is the kind of book you read when you need to be distracted, you don’t want anything serious, and you want something hot.
Elodie sees a man and woman in what she believes is an argument. She rushes to the woman’s aid only to discover things were not as it appeared. It was too late though; she had already touched the dragon and so began the heat. The Dragon Shifter, August. Explained what happens when a female touches a male Dragon Shifter. She immediately goes in heat. It is very painful for the next 4 weeks she will be in agony unless he is touching her. If they give in to their desire, they will be mated/sealed for life. August along with the help of some friends, take Elodie to a house where they will stay for the next 4 weeks. The house is unfurnished, so August has furniture delivered. He also has food delivered.
Elodie and August have some very hot scenes as they attempt to resist having sex. They do everything but…it’s a matter of opinion I suppose. They actually get to know each other, and they like each other. What will happen at the end of the 4 weeks.
I like it. The book was a fun read.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a review copy.

This was a cute paranormal romance. The female main character intervenes in a fight between a man a woman. She doesn’t realize it isn’t a fight and it was just a brother and sister talking. The man is actually a dragon shifter and his heat is initiated when he smells the female main character. She has to go stay in his cabin with him until heat is over but they can’t finish the mating. There is steam and pining. The male hasn’t been around human women much and is a virgin. This is cute but there really isn’t a lot of plot. Not a lot of character growth either. I found myself wanting more and just getting bored with a lot of it.

"Never Fall for a Dragon" by Lola Glass is an exhilarating read that plunges you into action from the very first page. There's no lengthy introduction or unnecessary filler; instead, the story grabs your attention immediately, making it impossible to put down.

The chemistry between Elody and Augustus is electric, and their dynamic is one of the highlights of the book. From the very beginning, the sexual tension between them is off the charts, creating a captivating push-and-pull that keeps you invested in their story.

I especially loved the last 25% of the book. The resolution was satisfying and tied up the story beautifully. The romance and passion culminate in some great smut scenes that are sure to please fans of the genre.

This novel is short, light, and full of fun, making it a perfect escape for anyone looking for an entertaining and steamy read. The audiobook version is also fantastic, bringing the characters and their world to life in an engaging way.

Overall, "Never Fall for a Dragon" is a delightful adventure filled with romance, humor, and just the right amount of heat. If you’re looking for a quick and enjoyable read with strong characters and sizzling chemistry, this book is definitely worth picking up!

The audiobook itself is fine, it’s mixed well and the narrators do a great job with what they’re given…

However, this book was 100% not for me. The main characters are destined to be mates and as the storyline progresses their desire to become bonded increases their need for intimacy with each other. But instead of bonding, they spend the entire book trying NOT to seal the deal. So basically, this book is written in the tone as if it’s a fun smutty read, but doesn’t actually deliver a fun smutty read. I found myself cringing and eye rolling at several parts in the book. Honestly, if it wasn’t for it being an audiobook, I would have DNF’ed.

If there is a 2nd book, I might give it a shot. I feel like the premise for this first book wasn’t really for me, but book 2 might be different…

This is a spicy and sweet story, all in one. Think omegaverse but dragon shifters.

I haven’t read a ton of dragon shifter romances before and I really loved their take on the mating bond and “heat”. It was a great take on a shifter romance.

I loved the dynamic between the main characters—when they weren’t spicing things up, they were bonding and falling in love and I loved it so much. I particularly loved the scenes of the two main characters flying (IYKYK).

This is a quick audiobook and the narrators are really good as well.

I love anything that has dragon shifters in it. While this was extremely spicy and interesting, it was also different, but not necessarily in a bad way. I'd never read/listened to a dragon shifter book soley based around the mating bond. I did enjoy the book and the angst between the MCs and the narrators did a great job of bringing the book to life. It wasn't my favorite shifter book but still an enjoyable one.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Lola Glass for an ARC of this audiobook narrated by Renee Thorn and Nick Mondelli in exchange for my honest review.

I requested this audiobook because what’s not to love about a possessive dragon shifter, forced proximity, and lots of spice?!

Unfortunately, this fell a little flat for me and I think it may be because I’m missing some backstory. While this is the first book in a duology, it appears there are earlier books that may need to be read first for context. I’m not sure I understand the prison plot point either because I was still confused by it by the end of the book. The spice was well written and I loved the banter between Elodie and August.

Lastly, I enjoyed the narrators for this book, however there was a period in the last 2-3 hours of the audiobook where Renee seemed to take most of the sentences into an upwards cadence so it sounded like she was asking questions when the sentences were statements. It’s a small detail I noticed, and maybe that’s just how it sounded to me, but once I heard it, it did make it a little difficult to focus on the story.

Overall, this was a fun short read that’s perfect if you’re looking for a quick and spicy read.

this book is just okay. the craft is fine. the character's are there. it's pretty simple in make-up. my only complaints are that: (1) there is more telling than showing, (2) i hated the nicknames (fireball and auggie), (3) there's pretty much zero buildup or chemistry between the leads, imo, and (4) i was so bored the whole time. otherwise, whether or not a reader likes this will probably come down to preference. the narrators were pretty good, though.
