This was my first book by Lynn Painter but won't be my last! Accidentally Amy is a fun rom-com that made me laugh at times. Izzy and Blake were a fun couple to read about even though they had some issues to figure out...like how to be together when he's her boss! When you need a light-hearted pick me up...this might just be the book for you.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I am obsessed with these characters! Their banter is fantastic; so funny and witty. I actually laughed out loud several times and read it to my husband, he also laughed! My husband and I joke a lot and are very sarcastic so this felt very relatable to me. I love the premise of this book, it’s such a great meet-cute. I love the relationship between Izzy and her cousin, Blake and his brothers, and Izzy and Blake themselves.

This was my first book from Lynn Painter, but absolutely will not be my last. I may have found a new autobuy for romcoms! Thank you Berkley Romance, Lynn Painter and NetGalley for allowing me early access of this re-released book (with more content). I have a feeling this will be in my top romance reads of 2025!

This book was cute, lighthearted, full of banter, and tons of fun. It references some of my favorite things, like the Pride and Prejudice rain proposal, and it has what can only be described as the coolest game ever played. It’s call Billboard Assholes, and I need to play it immediately. Blake starts off really grumpy, but underneath his gruff exterior, he’s a total softie. He rescues Izzy when she’s stranded in the rain and goes on a ski lift ride for her, even though he’s terrified of heights. This was a delightful, quick read, and I had a good time with it.

I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers trope and Lynn Painter did right by me with this rom-com. Izzy was no mouse, and despite some snark she and Blake’s dialog was sassy and fun and I loved how Izzy was able to overcome that bad first impression, and buck Blake’s very strong moral code. Of course, secretly, Blake also wanted to find a reason to break his code as well. Their chemistry was off the charts and as they spent more time together it became hard to just stay “friends”. This novel was a lot of fun, easy to read, and very clever. If you’re in the mood for some light-hearted fun with a but of snark and sassy- you don’t need to look any further!

When Isabella worries that the delay in having her coffee prepared could result in her being late for her new job, she makes the rash decision to take the same coffee that was ready for Amy who is nowhere to be found. Karma has a way of paying you back so when she goes to leave, she ends up bumping into a fellow patron and it all goes sideways from there.

Due to his past Blake is a man with trust issues so when he finds out his new employee is the woman he shared a moment with at the coffee shop and that she wasn’t truthful when it came to her name his walls are up. He is determined to keep his distance however keeping away from her is becoming more challenging than he thought.

This is a fun and flirty story that tackles not only their less than stellar start but the fact that they work for the same company and manages to combine both humor and heat.

I just love a fun meet cute to start off a romcom! Even when there might be a little white lie to start things off. I loved the grumpy vs sunshine vibes that started off this adorable story! I drank up all the banter between the two main characters, Izzy and Blake.

The chemistry these two had and the events that led this to be a bit of a forbidden romance had me fully invested in their story! While Izzy was a bit frustrating at times, I loved how Blake fit into her life so seamlessly. I enjoyed all the laughs this story gave me, I enjoyed the deep connection they had and how things wrapped up in the end and the two were able to be together.

this was really fun and no one does banter like Lynn Painter. I love an office romance. I was a little nervous going into the power imbalance here but I felt like that being the source of tension in the romance actually worked. their friendship with each other was actually very sweet and the forbidden trope made the build up great. all that being said, the way the third act conflict handled was TOUGH. I didn't loooove the plot point itself but more than that, it didn't feel like they actually resolved the issue. I had fun but not my favorite Lynn Painter.

Such a great meet cute. Their chemistry is electric and their banter so funny.

I immediately connected with Izzy, AKA, Amy. She is so comfortable in her own skin, so goofy and fun! Blake is equally loveable, he is a serious business exec who can definitely let loose and have fun.

It has just a tad of spice 🌶️/5

They are absolutely adorable together, making this book an easy 5 stars! Such a fun feel good story.

This had its moments, but overall a miss for me. I learned after reading that this is a re-release of a previous single POV version, and I think that would have worked a lot better for me. As it was, the characters (especially Blake) have no consistency - their actions almost never align with what we're initially set up to believe about them. Some of the banter is really fun, but it is CONSTANT, and I couldn't buy into a romance made up solely of bits and quips. Also, I'm sorry, but Izzy eating pizza for literally every meal is such an unnecessary and unrealistic "not like other girls" character trait that it made me go insane. Finally, my biggest gripe was that the side characters were used so poorly. I liked a lot of the dynamics with Blake's family early on...and we just never saw them again?? Even Josh, who at least shows up more than once, felt underdeveloped and ultimately extraneous. It was such a missed opportunity to make Blake and Izzy richer and more interesting characters instead of focusing solely on their obsession with each other.

This is a five star romcom read!!!

The book opens up with a super adorable meet cute at a coffee shop. A few hours later, they meet again in the elevator and sparks are flying. Fast forward a couple more hours and she’s introduced to the guy in charge of her department and guess who it is?! Coffee shop/elevator guy!!! Uh oh.

I loved absolutely loved this and I am so glad that it was my first romcom of the year. Sets the pace, you know?

The FMC is quirky but not annoying at all and she brings out the fun in the strait laced MMC. Together, they are freaking adorable!

I highly recommend to any and all romcom fans. I can’t gush about it enough!

💭 MY THOUGHTS: I actually think this is my first time reading Lynn Painter (gasp!). Blake and Iz are the cutest couple. And that banter! While he’s more strait laced VP, he matches her quirky and finds it completely adorable in a believable way that makes you desperate to find your own Blake.

Of course I had to put my cat in the pic in honor of their kitty sidekicks who were adorable and written in a way that added to their story.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are mine.

Oh man I loved this book! This was the cutest meet cute and I won't try it out but I absolutely enjoyed it. The book starts with a stolen latte (yep you read it right). Isabella steals someone's Latte because she was tired of waiting in line and that leads her to a meet cute with Blake . Nothing is as it seems and their journey to each other isn't full of hiccups only but joyful moments. Everything about this book was enjoyable.Go read it!

This is a re-release in which the author made some changes to the characters, depth of the story, and the point of view (transitioned to first person), so when you read reviews keep that in mind! I really loved this one. I enjoyed Izzy’s endearing, quirky, chaotic personality. Once you fully understand Blake, he is equally as charming and fun. Their banter had me laughing out loud at every turn. From their disastrous meet cute, the sweet friendship development, to not being able to keep their hands off of each other, I was invested every step of the way. They are seriously the cutest couple! I really enjoyed Lynn Painter’s writing and the entire story kept me entertained from beginning to end!

"Isabella Clarence, I love you so much that I can barely breathe. Please never change, okay?"

Izzy is so ready to start her new job at Ellis. However, on her first day, she orders a pumpkin spice latte after Starbucks, and to avoid running late, she picks up a drink that belongs to some random person named Amy in a panic, AND THEN ENDS UP SPILLING IT ON A HOT MAN NAMED BLAKE. Of course, there is immediate chemistry between the two, and Blake is instantly attracted to Izzy. But here's the thing, Blake still thinks Izzy's name is Amy since she picked up Amy's drink at Starbucks during their meet-cute. But it's okay, Izzy will tell Blake the truth once her first day of work is over, right? WRONG. It turns out, Blake is the VP of the company Izzy starts working at, so when Izzy has to immediately tell the truth about her name, we learn Blake has trauma when it comes to liars, and wants nothing to do with Izzy. But, thanks to Izzy's bright and hilarious personality, Blake does eventually come around, and the two start a friendship. But here's the thing, the way Blake and Izzy look at each other is not how people who are "just friends" should be seeing each other. It's quite obvious that the two are falling in love, but how can they be together when Blake is Izzy's boss? Is it worth breaking ethics and losing everything in their careers just to be together? Or, are they meant to be just friends forever?

SUCH A GOOD BOOK. LYNN PAINTER HAS DONE IT AGAIN!

I absolutely LOVED this book! Believe it or not, this is my first by this author and I definitely get the hype now! The banter was absolutely hilarious and I swear I laughed out loud multiple times! The balance of storyline, banter, spice and romance was exactly perfect. I have literally only one complaint and it is that the epilogue was short!

I just had so much fun reading this book. It's stilly, sometimes almost over the top, but an easy read that kept me smiling the entire time. Even the dramatic part was quick and relatively painless, which is exactly what I was looking for. Izzy and Blake are silly with lots of chemistry and honestly great at being friends which made the banter really pop. Loved the meet cute and the relationship that developed.
