AS always, this Jill Shalvis novel has endearing well developed characters with a believable plot. Second chance, enemies to friends romance.
Olive Porter was raised by hippy parents, who home schooled her on an off-the-grid farm. They thought that they were raising her to be independent, but she required structure, so at the age of 14, she took off to live with her paternal grandmother, who lived next door to the Turner's. Katie, who has some developmental personality issue, quickly became her bff and her twin, Noah their protecter. Noah has issues of his own, as growing up, he felt that he had to be the perfect child, the one that everyone could count on. They crushed on each other in high school, but the summer after high school, she took off to NYC with out a goodbye. There is a story there, but she never told him why and he has protected his heart ever since. Meanwhile, Olive matured and ended up in London, where she runs her own PR firm, but she comes back to Sunrise Cove, to support Katie, when her husband, Joe is injured in an accident with Noah. While Noah walked away from the accident with a few injuries, Joe is in a coma. Now face to face again, can they faced their issues and hurts together and realize what everyone else does- that they were made for each other?

Olive hasn’t been back to her high school town since she ran over the town baseball hero with an ATV. Now she is back to support her friend. ARC from NetGalley.

A quirky enemies-to-lovers, small-town, friendships story!
Olive Porter is concerned when she cannot get in touch with her off-the-grid parents.
She reluctantly asks Noah Turner for his help to find them.
Noah and Olivia have a love/hate relationship with some unresolved issues. Will they finally come to terms and reveal their true feelings for each other.

Another great read from Jill Shalvis! I can always count on her books for a cozy story with heart! This book has all the feels!

This was another wonderful read for the sunrise cove series. I loved reading this book. Well written and I can’t wait to read another by the author

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Better Than Friends (Sunrise Cove #7) by Jill Shalvis
I loved this small-town, second‑chance romance. Olive returns to Sunrise Cove when her best friend’s husband is injured, only to bump into Noah, her ex from high school, and the only guy she ever truly cared about. Their history (and chemistry!) is palpable, old friendship, guilt, and spark all wrapped together.
The cast shines: Katie’s quirky honesty, Noah’s supportive family, their sweet nephew Joey, and even the cute pets really enrich the story. The forced proximity and family dynamics bring both warmth and tension in equal measure.
Why 4 stars? •Sweet, heartfelt banter & sizzling second chance vibes •Strong found‑family feel and vivid small-town setting •At times a bit predictable or slow to build but still hard to put down
Overall, Better Than Friends delivers a cozy, emotionally rich romance with just the right blend of heart and steam. Jill Shalvis fans (and newcomers too!) are in for a treat.

I wasn’t aware that this was part of a series, but that is my fault. Beautiful cover, usually love this author, but this was pretty generic and seemed like the plot of tons of other small town romance novels and Hallmark movies. I’ll continue on with this author’s other books!

This one was a little slow read for me. I feel like it needed a little more it was a cute story with two friends that have been in love with each other since 14 but wouldn’t admit it

A tender, funny, and emotionally layered romance that hits all the right notes. Olive and Noah’s history crackles with unresolved feelings, and their forced reunion is both awkward and electric. Set against the cozy charm of Sunrise Cove, this second-chance story explores forgiveness, family, and the kind of love that grows stronger with time. A truly satisfying read. ★★★★★

It was fine. I don't really have much to say about the book. The characters were fine, the story line was fine. I didn't find myself emotionally investing myself in this book and I didn't feel sizzling chemistry between Olive and Noah. This lead me to forcing myself through it, hence why it sat on my netgalley shelf for so long. I love a cozy, small town story, but it was pretty repetitive and I don't loveeee a second chance romance, I think this is a good story for me to recommend to my mom and her book club, but overall not what I personally am looking for in a romance.

I enjoyed this story, which is rarely the case for me when it comes to a second chance romance! This book felt more complex than the average story in that trope. I appreciated the FMC and the world building done for her in the story with her family, but I also felt that this shouldn't be read as a standalone (which is what I did), because I felt as if I was missing some context at the beginning. Not a ton, but just a bit.
This is more of a closed door romance/spice-adjacent, so don't go in expecting to get anything particularly juicy. That being said, I still really enjoyed the story for what it was!
I would recommend this book for anyone in need of an airport/beach read. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for a copy of this book.

Jill Shalvis’s books always make me laugh. She has characters everyone can relate to. I highly recommend any of her books!

The h is concerned because her parents aren’t responding to her calls. She moves back home with with her grandmother. She is forced to move in with her best friend’s family. She reconnects with her high school crush, her. Bff’s brother. She finally connects with her parents and her relationship with the H grows deeper
I received an arc from net galley .

I'm guilty to say that I owe quite a bit of books by Jill Shalvis. I just can't get enough of them for the author supplies all the feels, tears and even pulls on your heartstrings. Each book has its own set of characters that you become invested in from the start to end of the story. You get to know their realistic battles and personal struggles in life that the reader can truly relate to in many ways. This is why I enjoy books by Jill Shalvis. She has a way to reel you in and can't get enough until you have read all her books! I highly recommend this book. A great book pick for readers that enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid, Elin Hildebrand, Mary Kay Andrews

Jill Shalvis is usually such a comfort author for me. The past few I haven’t had as much fun with just because the set up feels more unrealistic than what I’m used to.
I still enjoy her stories but you have to suspend some disbelief to get into the stories.

I didn't finish this one. I don't really care for exes reunite romances. Or off grid parents. It was also odd that it was a teenage romance still deeply effecting adults. This was a miss for me.

Another Sun Rise Cove book to make you laugh, occasionally shed a couple tears, and fall in love with these best friends like family. There is also a hint of mystery!
Olive Porter is heading to Lake Tahoe from her present home in the UK to help her best friend Katie after Katie’s husband is injured with his partner Noah (Katie’s twin brother) while working for the National Park service as agents. Joe was injured more seriously, and is in a coma. Noah re injured his leg from a previous accident. Another part of the story. They’re hoping to keep things somewhat normal for Joey, Katie and Joe’s 5 year old son.
But nothing is normal when Olive and Noah are in the same room. They have a long history of love and serious dislike. Olive grew up next to Noah and Katie being raised by her Gram. Her parents were a bit “drifty” as she was growing up, aging hippies even now. They are assumed on a new adventure, but have not checked in as expected. A side twist to this hilarious romantic comedy. Of course, we have a wonderful dog companion named Holmes, and a feisty kitten named Spice.
Ms. Shalvis writes books that make you smile, feel good and want to read again! Highly recommend.

This was a quick, cute read. It felt sort of like a Hallmark movie — you have to just go with it and not think too hard (ex., I’m not at all convinced the FMC is good at her job?) and then you’ll have a good time. It’s light and sweet and a little bit emotional. Not the most substantive read, but a fun one for the weekend.

I really enjoyed this one, like all the books in the Sunrise Cove series. I like that they can be read as stand alone or in order. Jill Shalvis has a solid formula that slaps. You want to read more and there's no cookie cutter happy ending. You definitely get the happy ending, but each one is different, all of which I can appreciate. I look forward to reading the next one! Thanks Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another cute romance from Jill Shalvis. It's got the basic Hallmark tropes, but it was an enjoyable read.
*best friend's twin brother
*forced proximity (roommates)
*one bed
*second chance
*he's afraid of commitment
