Mia’s writing is absolutely captivating! Heart of the Sun tells a beautiful story of two peoples journey through love, healing, forgiveness, and finding peace; all while the world has drastically changed over night. I personally loved the uncertainty and as suspending as it was, it was beautifully written.

This book wasn’t for me, but I would recommend others read if they want a book that is more apocalyptic focused with a bit of romance. This is an adventurous book, but I didn’t love that it had so much of the world falling apart and very little of putting things back together. There are also various characters introduced throughout the story that we don’t ever get any updates on later on, which I understood but would have loved more of a conclusion to those storylines.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

In fairness, I never read the summaries going into books so I expected my typical Mia book like Archer’s Voice, Stinger, Travis, etc.
This was 5% romance and 95% apocalyptic which is just not my fav. I felt there was so many people and stories along the way that all left me wondering “what happened to all of them”.
It was a very sad story full of death, betrayal, desperation and fear. I would have never expected something like this from this author. It was interesting but not really my cup of tea. I haven’t read many apocalyptic romance. I guess you could say this was close to or a mix of I don’t know a dystopian romance but it was just a bit confusing.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of Heart of the Sun my Mia Sheridan!!
Mia Sheridan is always instant read for me. I really enjoyed this childhood friends to lovers romance.

4 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Childhood friends Tuck Mattice and Emily Swanson are reunited after years of separation. Emily, now a successful pop star, hires Tuck, a brooding ex-con, as her bodyguard. Sparks fly as their old bond rekindles amidst heated clashes. But when a massive solar flare destroys the world’s electrical grid, throwing society into chaos, the two must confront their past while navigating a perilous new reality. Stripped of fame and privilege, Emily discovers her resilience, while Tuck seizes the chance to redeem himself. Together, they find love and purpose in a world forever changed.
Finally, something a little different. While I appreciate the comforting predictability of the romance genre, I’m always thrilled to see Mia Sheridan break the mold with her bold and unconventional plotlines. Not only did I love the romance element and found myself rooting for Tuck and Emily the entire time (well, once Emily stopped acting like a spoiled ass), but the concept of the solar flare also got me thinking deeply about the logistics of such an event—and how (if?) I would manage to survive in a world turned upside down. Really intriguing concept and great execution. Definitely recommend if you like your romance with a side of dystopia!

Thank you to Mia Sheridan and NetGalley for sending me the arc of this amazing book.
Heart of the Sun offers a unique blend of romance and dystopian elements, following the journey of childhood friends Emily and Tuck, whose relationship evolves in the face of catastrophic circumstances. The narrative shifts from their early bond to the present, where Emily, a rising pop star, hires Tuck, an ex-convict, as her bodyguard. Their lives change dramatically when a solar flare causes a plane crash, prompting them and Emily's boyfriend Charlie to traverse the perilous landscape back to California.
The dynamic between Tuck and Emily becomes compelling as they confront adversity together, revealing Tuck's protective nature and Emily's struggle to adapt. The latter part of the book is action-packed, and I flew through it. The story concludes with a great connection to their childhood, illustrating the complexities of human behavior during chaos and moments of kindness. Overall, this book is a masterful exploration of love amidst turmoil, leaving a lasting impact.

An entrancing childhood friends to lovers romance, that is quite original. I fell in love with Tuck and Emily, Tuck and his family story captured my heart and I understand his possessiveness. The body guard trope does it for me everytime! I loved that Emily grew up to be a pop star and hired Tuck as her body guard. I did not see the solar flare coming, it made this love story so original and while I won’t spoil anymore of the story - you need to make this a must read!

Thank you NetGalley for this arc! This book was so different than any other romance book I’ve read! The childhood friends to lovers is always one of my favorites.

She can write characters that you can love and empathize with even if they pissed you off. I loved this no doubt

3.5 rounded up!
I definitely don’t think I have ever read a book that combines the romance and dystopian genre, but I’m a fan of both so I was excited to read this book. It definitely worked in a lot of ways, but not in every way.
I have not read anything by Mia Sheridan previously but as an author, I feel like I would probably expect her books to write with me between a three and a four. I felt like some of the dialogue just wasn’t natural, and some characters were more like caricatures. However , I really did enjoy this book for the most part. The one thing I think people might end up having a problem with is getting more interested in either the romance plotline or the dystopian plot line, and growing board with the other. It’s almost like you have to have different parts of your brain activated for different things going on. One minute it’s action and deaf and the next minute it’s romance angst and lots of sexual tension. I found it a little difficult to go back-and-forth, and honestly found myself more drawn to the romantic storyline, which is shocking for me because man, I love the end of the world for some reason.
I do not think this book will be for everyone, but I will be checking out more by Mis Sheridan for future mind-escape reads even though I know it won’t be like this one.

To say this book is a journey is an understatement. In the world today, too many of us are oblivious to what can happen if there is a disaster. "When the world is plunged into darkness, who would you turn to?" This book follows the story of Emily and Tuck, two childhood friends who grew up and took very different paths but now they are reunited - if only begrudgingly. When a solar flair disrupts the grid and downs their plane, they have to figure out how to not only survive but come to terms with the loss of life as the knew it. And then, how do they get home? With an interesting concept like the last of us from HBO, we are brought on the road with them trying to take the next step in a long journey. This book was absolutely incredible and by far, one of my favorite reads of the year so far. It also gave me a lot to think about and talk to my family about. What would we do? Would we be part of the 90%? Or could we overcome the challenges and be part of the 10%?
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC
I have read many of Mia Sheridan books and have loved them. This one I picked from Netgalley just because she was the author and I saw it was a Romance and those tend to be my go to genres. With that being said it thought the first 1/4 of the book was great and really peaked my interest but once the sola flare happened and they started making their journey back to California the story kinda got a little crazy and unbelievable. I once again got intrigued and invested in what was going to happen after the 1/2 way point but with the last chapters I just wanted it over with.
2.5⭐️
Again, I’m not big on fantasy or crazy world happenings so those may be your thing and you will devour this book but for me it was too up and down.

An intense, wild ride. Definitely more on the serious side, with less romance. Overall a fun book with a unique plot.

I feel like this story started out strong, but by the middle of it, it just wasn’t hitting for me. It seemed to be a bit underwhelming especially for a dystopian world. Cute love story, but I think there needed to be a lot more character development overall.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Anything Mia Sheridan is an instant read for me so when I got the ok for an ARC for her book I jumped in head first. I didn't even read the synopsis of the story and it kind of took me by surprise when I realized it was a dystopian story. The characters were great like always and had me rooting for them right away. The movie star boyfriend got on my nerves and the outcome of that made me happy haha. But like always I enjoyed this story from start to finish (especially the epilogue)

Thank you NetGalley and Mia for this copy in exchange for a review. This one was unfortunately not for me, I think the story absolutely could have been interesting but it just didn’t land. Tuck was the only bearable character, and although Emily seemed to redeem herself, I only liked how she was viewed through Tuck’s eyes. Disappointed 💔

It’s not the usual romance we are used to, from Mia Sheridan. The love story is a sub plot. The main focus in on the doomsday apocalyptic situation the characters find themselves in , and how they deal with it

I can with 1000% certainty say that I have never read a story like this before! Mia's writing always captivates me and I find her storytelling so easy to escape into and even though this wasn't my absolute favorite of hers, I did really enjoy how unique this book was.
Emily and Tuck have known each other since birth and have spent decades in each other's orbit until their lives go in veryyyy opposite directions. After years of not speaking, Emily has become an extremely popular musician under the stage name "Nova", where Tuck is freshly released from prison and is working to get his life back on track. When Emily's mom convinces her to hire Tuck as part of her security team, the two are back to spending most of their time together and are on their way to an event across the country with Emily's boyfriend, Charlie, when their plan suddenly drops from the sky. For a reason unknown to them, the entire electrical grid has collapsed and all technology has stopped working. The world as they know it has turned into survival of the fittest and the three of them must hike across the United States back to safety.
I enjoyed this! This story definitely kept me entertained and was action packed from the beginning. Again, this isn't my favorite Mia Sheridan book by any means, but I think if you are interested in dystopian stories full of adventure- this book is for you!
- childhood friends to lovers
- second chance (ish)
- enemies to lovers
- bodyguard romance
- famous singer FMC
- dystopian world
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the advance read!

Heart of the Sun focuses on Emily and Tuck, childhood friends, who meet again when life has taken them on two very different paths. Tuck is an ex-con while Emily is on her way to stardom. When their worlds are plunged into darkness, everything changes. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance reader copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Let me just say, I have loved every other book that I have read by Mia Sheridan and this book was no different! I was captured by the characters right from the start. The main male character could make a girl swoon and give Archer a run for his money. The main female character was bold and made me laugh at times. The banter between them was fantastic. It was gut wrenching, pulled at your heart strings, exciting, but also very thought provoking. I love how the book told a realistic story of how things could be if a major catastrophe hit the nation.
