I love childhood friends to lovers so this was right up my alley. Going into this blindly, I was not anticipating the snowed-in "mystery" that turned a little more intense than I thought it would. While I could not put this book down, I felt like it was longer than it needed to be and I struggled at times with the lack of communication and pure cluelessness that both of our characters seemed to have regarding how the other one felt.
Some things felt rushed at times while others were rushed, but overall this book kept me turning pages and I couldn't wait to see how things ended.

I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley.
I love the authors and they did such an amazing job on this one

Frigid is a sweet and simple contemporary romance. Kyler and Syd are best friends and opposites. He puts the "man" in man-whore while she is more reserved and a book nerd. Syd harbors deep feelings for him but is determined not to ruin their friendship. All bets are off as they find themselves snowed in together.
I loved Kyler because he was fun and always goofs around. He is always looking out for Syd. Syd was more serious and responsible. Their chemistry was palpable. The story takes a bit of a detour as some drama and mystery gets thrown in.
Frigid is a fun and sweet contemporary romance. You will love the characters. It flows and wraps up nice and neat. A guilty pleasure!

Best friends to lovers forced proximity college romance. A short spicy story. Alpha male, angsty. A fun time. Not a serious story at all but got me out of a reading slump

I didn’t love this relationship as much as I wanted to. I wasn’t quite swooning, or rooting for them. Overall, a decent easy read that I wouldn’t run to tell you to read.

For fans of:
- Colleen Hoover
Childhood best friends, Kyler and Sydney have been thick as thieves since kindergarten. Now in college, their relationship is beginning to strain as each of them secretly pines for their relationship to move past the platonic into romance. Stuck in a winter cabin during a devastating blizzard, they may be forced to face their feelings once and for all.
This book includes:
- will they won't they romance
- apocalyptic snowstorm
- very protective MMC
- nerdy plain girl x hot player boy dynamic
"Frigid" is a steamy romance for all readers looking to enjoy a quick contemporary romance with high stakes. Kyler's protectiveness of Sydney is so swoon-worthy, especially since I am a suck for a good childhood friends-to-lovers romance. Unfortunately, I found both of the protagonists to be very one-dimensional and even a bit insufferable. The storyline was very predictable and there were some plot points that felt so painfully unrealistic that it took me out of the story. I also found some of the more intimate scenes to be cringe-worthy. and the writing style to be elementary. I am sure that there will be many people who really enjoy this book, but it was not a fit for me. I will be sticking to Jennifer L. Armentrout's fantasy books from now on.
I received this eBook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Jennifer L. Armentrout for the opportunity to review this book. This review is also available on my Goodreads; check it out https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62314863-gigi

Who doesn't love a book where the main character is secretly in love with her best friend? Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC!

Anything Jennifer Armentrout writes I am a huge fan of and this novel was no different. Amazing writing and a great addition to her list of novels.

This was cute. I was a little frustrated with the FMC main character at times, because she had a serious case of Bad Brain and would very frequently convince herself of the worst possible option in the situation. It was a little repetitive, after a while. The MMC was great for the most part, though he could learn to be a lot clearer in his communication. I wish there was a little more angst and stress when it came to the mystery attacker, but it was well done for the most part. I will definitely be checking out Andrea and Tanner’s book. I loved Andrea. Her and Tanner were 10/10 friends
Random notes from my read: CAN BE CONSIDERED SPOILERY⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
* Kyler is the king of standing in his own way. Man up, dummy
* Kyler, you dumb a**
* Sydney kind of sucks for that window scene. For someone about to graduate with a psych degree, she’s not very perceptive of her best friend’s emotions. She noticed he was upset and decided to just go “hmm, he’s being weird. Oh well. too horny to care about why he’s upset.”
* Man, syd can’t communicate her way out of a wet paper bag, but Kyler has to be the most oblivious dude of all time
* Syd needs a dang Xanax to get out of her head
* “Spot I didn’t even know existed”. Why do we keep writing 20+ year old women that haven’t heard of the g-spot, supposedly?
* Syd, that is a LEAP of thought, after the condom thing
* Should have included the convo between Kyler and Syd’s dad, after her parents showed. It just kind of stopped mid scene
Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC and allowing me to provide my honest review

I love a great friend to lover's romance and this story did not disappoint. Ii truly enjoy this author's writing style. It definitely kept the story interesting and left me wanting to read the next book in this duet. Sydney and Kyler have been inseparable since childhood and secretly they love each other. However, for reasons I don't want to give away, they both feel as if they aren't worthy of each other, but hope is not lost or is it. Kyler's past comes back with full force and there's no escaping it. Just when you think things are working out, the author throws a twist into the story that will leave you wanting more. This story has friendship, hurt, drama, angst, steam, romance, love, a touch of suspense and a lot of laugh out loud moments. I think readers that enjoy romance books with angst will enjoy this story. I know I'm looking forward to reading more.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc of this book. This is the first book that I have read by this author that is not a part of the Covenant series. This book had interesting main characters two best friends whose relationship is platonic and both unknowingly in love with the other. This book also has some strange things start happening during the storm which adds to some added tension and suspense in this book. This book gets fairly spicy. This is a quick heartwarming read. I read this book in one sitting. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved this book so much. It seems like I just started it, I never wanted it to end. Thank you for the early copy

Looks like a pretty book and cover but the story didn’t capture my attention. I wanted to feel a connection and root for the characters but it did not happen. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

A solid romance, but I do wish that the suspense was a little more fleshed out. The third act "breakup" was also a tad silly, but overall a solid romance from Jennifer Armentrout. I did love the setting of a snowed-in cabin, a perfect setting!

Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Frigid delivers a perfect mix of heartwarming romance and thrilling suspense, making it impossible to put down. The story follows Sydney and Kyler, best friends for years, whose simmering attraction finally comes to the surface when they're snowed in at a luxurious ski resort. Their hidden feelings, which they've kept buried for so long, explode in a way that will leave readers hooked from the first page.
Sydney’s vulnerability and fear of losing her friendship with Kyler make her a relatable and sympathetic character. Her journey of navigating unspoken love is beautifully written, tugging at readers’ hearts. Kyler, with his bad-boy charm and deep affection for Sydney, is equally captivating. The alternating perspectives between the two characters add richness to their story, allowing us to experience both the tenderness and tension from each side.
Beyond the romance, Frigid introduces a suspenseful twist with a lurking threat, adding a thrilling layer to the story. As their emotions boil over, so does the danger, making this more than a typical love story. Jennifer balances the passionate romance with suspense in a way that keeps you eagerly turning the pages, eager to see how both the love story and the mystery unfold.
The snowy, isolated setting of the resort amplifies the intensity, making it the perfect winter escape read. With its blend of steamy romance and unexpected danger, Frigid will melt your heart and keep you on the edge of your seat. Jennifer’s talent for combining deep emotional connections with thrilling plot twists shines throughout.
Frigid is an addictive, feel-good romance wrapped in suspense that readers won’t be able to resist. It’s the ideal book for anyone who loves friends-to-lovers stories with a dash of excitement.

Book Review
Frigid by Jennifer Armentrout
I decided to do some backlist reading from one of my favourite Romantasy authors- this book is not fantasy, more of a New Adult/YA thriller? Romance? Its kinda hard to tell.
Characters
MMC- playboy Kyler, he has protector vibes and plays guitar
Zach- asshat
Sasha- ex of Kyler
FMC- Syd, petite, quiet, introverted she generally flys under the radar
Tropes
Best friends to lovers
Pining since preschool
Miscommunication
Ex looking for revenge
Forced proximity
Thoughts
The MCs are 21 yr olds but the storyline felt very YA until the steamy bits .
Miscommunication trope was wayyyy overdone throughout this book
The snowstorm in a ski chalet and something bad happens is an overused theme- I found this book predictable and disappointing
Overall
Meh, I wouldnt read it again , not horrible just not for me
Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for my digital ARC in return for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own.

I normally love Jennifer L Armentrout’s fantasy books, so this was different for me! I appreciated the main character growth that we saw but I didn’t care for the lack of communication throughout.

Right from the cover na d blurb, I was attracted to this book and I am glad that i finally read it too. I loved it absolutely 😍 The characters, the banter, the interactions and sparks between the protagonists, I was head to toae in love with the book. It was nicely penned down with a well paced plotline and amazing characters. I literally finished it in two sittings. Now I am excited to check out more work of the same author.

Frigid was a fun read. It would be perfect for holiday break when you are home and in your cozy corner. This is a light-hearted love. The FMC has been pining over the MMC for years but assumes that they are just friends and that he would never see her that way. A classic case of unspoken love between them both. While I enjoyed the plot and the twist of action in the middle. I felt like the FMC was portrayed as weak and clumsy and needed 'saving' constantly which I did not like. It felt like truly just walked into trouble when she didn't need to. I would have loved to see more character development with her. Overall, it was a sweet love story but it felt pretty young adult and the characters were not fully formed.

If you're a fan of best-friends-to-lovers stories with a touch of suspense, Frigid by Jennifer L. Armentrout delivers just that.
Sydney and Kyler's relationship is the epitome of complicated. They've been best friends since childhood, and their bond is deep. But with deep friendship comes deep feelings—feelings Sydney has harbored for years but is too afraid to act on, knowing Kyler's history of short-lived flings. On the flip side, Kyler, the quintessential "bad boy," has always seen Sydney as untouchable, keeping his feelings hidden under layers of casual hookups.
When a snowstorm traps them together at a ski resort, the tension between them finally boils over. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the slow burn of their unspoken love makes the romantic tension all the more intense. But Armentrout doesn't stop at romance—there's a suspenseful twist that keeps you on edge, wondering if they'll even make it out alive.
What I loved most about Frigid was the dynamic between Sydney and Kyler. Their banter, their history, and the way they both tiptoe around their feelings felt authentic and relatable. Armentrout does a great job of capturing the confusion and intensity of being in love with your best friend, and the added element of danger makes this a page-turner.
While the story follows some predictable tropes, it’s a satisfying read for those who love contemporary romance with a dash of thrill. If you’re looking for a book that blends romance, suspense, and the complexities of friendship, Frigid is worth a read.
