This book totally captivated me!

I had never read any fiction book with pirates before and that is what made this one so fascinating!
I could tell that the author had done a lot of research so I was looking forward to reading her notes at the end. I sort of wish I had read them before I read the book. It really enriches the story for me if I know more about the ideas for the characters and the history while I’m reading.

I have really enjoyed this series, even though the third book did make me a little nervous with all the witch trials.

I’m so glad this series is continuing. This story was different in the fact that the characters had no guide. And sometimes there were so many characters from the past books mentioned that I had trouble remembering who they were.
But I did love all the Christian references and seeing how faith can change lives.

Highly recommend!

Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

I loved this fresh take on this travel-crossing romance, which features vivid historical details, including pirates, a treasure hunt, lots of emotions, and a swoony romance.

Caroline exists simultaneously in 1727 and 1927. Each night, she sleeps in one life and wakes up in the other. In searching for answers about her unique existence, Caroline discovers a letter from her mother that hints at her experiences as a time-crosser. This revelation sends Caroline on a quest to uncover the truth.

In 1727, while pursuing the mysteries of her mother's past, Caroline disguises herself as a cabin boy and joins a ship heading to the Bahamas, her mother's last known location. Amid treacherous waters, she encounters Marcus Zale, a ruthless yet handsome pirate. As she navigates this dangerous world, she becomes entangled in a web of secrets, deception, and unexpected alliances.

It was a wonderfully engaging and satisfying read! The writing was beautiful, and there were many amazing plot twists. I enjoy unpredictable books that keep me guessing and turning the pages, and this one certainly did that.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for the eARC.

This series continues to be one of my absolute favorites. As soon as I saw the cover, I knew I was going to love this story. I love books with pirates, and while the 1920s isn’t my favorite historical period, I still love reading books set during that time. I am not going to say too much about the details of the book, because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. I had to use all my self control not to look at the end of the book to see who Caroline chose.
Caroline had so much growth throughout the book. She was strong and independent and really had to learn to trust God and others.
This book was so full of the message of God’s mercy and grace, and how none of us deserve it, but He gives it to us anyway. I really loved who Caroline ended up with and how that storyline played out. I also enjoyed getting to catch up with characters from a previous book. If you haven’t read this series, you are missing out!

I LOVED this book. I have not read the others in this series, but have been hearing so much about these books I had to read it. I’m so glad I did! When I finished I immediately went online and bought the paperback. It was that good.

There were so many wonderful plot twists. I like a book that is unpredictable. One that keeps me guessing and turning pages and this one certainly did that. There were so many situations where I was thinking - “How is she ever going to resolve this?”. The author is a genius at keeping everything straight and coming up with the perfect solutions!

There was a strong Christian message of redemption (which I appreciated) without being overly preachy.

A wonderfully engaging and satisfying read! I highly recommend this book. Now I’m going to have to go back and read all the others!

A life shrouded in secrecy, Caroline Reed as she is known in 1727 or Caroline Baldwin in 1927, is desperate to understand the two lives she lives. In 1727, after finding a letter from her deceased mother, and being told by her father she is to enter into an arranged marriage, Caroline runs away intent on finding out the truth of who she is and why she must live these two vastly different lives. Deciding it is worth the risk and danger, she disguises herself as a cabin boy and boards a ship headed for Nassau, Bahamas, not realizing she has traded one danger for another. Crossing paths with a swashbuckling pirate was not on her list of things to do, yet the pirate does not seem quite so dangerous, and just may have a secret himself. In 1927, as the daughter of a well-known preacher, Caroline feels the weight of her secret life as well as keeping the secrets of her siblings. If any of those secrets come to life, they will destroy the lives of those she loves. Time-crossing between pirate ships and speakeasies, plantation life and prohibition, Caroline makes a discovery that will change her life forever.
I eagerly anticipated this book and parts of it were exciting, yet I was disappointed in the feeling of hurriedness towards the end to a climax which was not as powerful as in her previous books. I was pretty confident in my guess as to which timeline Caroline would choose, less than halfway through the book. The people that she would be leaving seemed to accept her astounding story quite readily and seemed sad that she would die but it did not appear as tragic to them as I felt that it should have been. However, despite these various reactions, I did enjoy the book. Ms. Meyers is a master storyteller who is very adept at weaving together various timelines, characters, the nuances of time travel, and history into a novel that will have readers asking for more! I thank Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I am not required to leave a positive review. All opinions within this review are my own.

The amazing 4th book in the series and they are all enjoyable!

This is Caroline's story - and as usual, it's set in two completely different time periods, but her character fits so well in both. I really enjoyed both storylines and the characters in each. I love this concept and have really enjoyed this whole series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

Across the Ages is the gripping fourth book in the fantastic Timeless series. This novel, besides being an historical work of art, for those of us who also write, it’s a masterclass in building and maintaining tension. Thirdly, while I’m gushing, it’s ridiculously clever to the point the time traveling ramifications made my head hurt at times. I consider myself relatively intelligent, but I truly don’t know how Gabrielle Meyer keeps all the details straight.

This time around we meet Caroline who lives two lives, two hundred years apart. Unlike previous books though, Caroline didn’t have a ‘time crossing’ mother to explain what was going on. In 1727 she’s the ward of an overbearing grandfather. Before events take turn she runs away to try and find her mother to see if she had the same condition. In 1927 she’s the daughter of a pastor whose impassioned speeches on morality are catching the attention of a nation. However Caroline’s father doesn’t know his two sons are crooked.

Much like in book one, When the Day Comes, there’s a big plot twist two third of the way through, regarding Caroline’s mother, and this was so clever it made the whole book for me. If you like history, romance, intrigue, pirates(!) and to be kept guessing, then this is a book and series for you.

I received a copy of Across the Ages from the publisher via NetGalley, the fan-girling is all my own.

Buckle up, me hearties.

Across The Ages may be my most loved of Meyer’s stories because she wrote about universally fascinating and relatable topics: pirates and gangsters, the need to control our future/surroundings, and the bonds of family. Each of these complementing topics was then stitched together with golden threads of faith and love.

I'll remember this book because:

💜of the focus on flawed Christians who struggle with making the right choices and who have trouble trusting anyone until they get to the end of their rope and realize that God was with them every step of the way, ready and willing to help.

💜of the reminders about redemption, the healing power of forgiveness, and faith in God’s plan

💜of the encouragement to walk boldly and the importance of bolstering the courage to walk away

💜of stellar characters; ones who are desperately seeking their corner of freedom from what they feel is a restrictive society

💜of a dreamy, tender-hearted, ‘Robin Hood of the Sea’ pirate with a Scottish brogue who occupied my thoughts for days!

As I turned the last page, I felt compelled to do some introspection to uncover what my treasure is and where it’s located. Sadly, I’ve let it become tarnished lately. I need to change that. ASAP.

Book four can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy the connections made in the last quarter if you’ve already read previous books in the series.

I’m hooked on Gabrielle Meyer’s ‘Timeless’ series and am already counting the days until book 5, ‘Every Hour Until Then.’

I was gifted this copy by Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Oh my goodness! This book was absolutely amazing! I loved the time periods it was set in, 1727 and 1927. Please note this is book 4 in the series and I highly recommend you read them in order otherwise there will be spoilers. Anyway, I loved Caroline’s character so much. I was fascinated by both of her lives. I liked that she was on a pirate ship in 1727 and a minister’s daughter that was sneaking into speakeasies in 1927. Both her lives were so interesting, there is usually one “life” I like much more than the other but in this book I loved both. However, I did know which one I wanted her to pick and she picked it, yay! Caroline is different from the previous books because she has no guide to tell her why she time travels or to explain that she has to choose one or anything. So I was very curious how it was going to go. I feel like this story had more Christian content than the previous books, I could be wrong on that, but I just loved the message of redemption and how much Christian content was included. Overall, I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it!

And the book hangover begins now… SO good! I can’t get enough of this series. Gabrielle Meyer ALWAYS manages to surprise me, along with ALL the other emotions… just read it and tell me I’m not wrong. I try to avoid any details prior to reading this series so I was pleasantly surprised to find out who this one was about. And it was great getting to see some of the characters from previous books! I loved the timelines. Gabrielle's love of history shines in this series!

BEAUTIFUL.

This book found me at a great time (and low point) in my year when I needed reminded of some very key facts about life. I loved the faith themes woven throughout about forgiveness and making positive choices and the right ones for your own life. It came together in this powerful way that resonating across the plot in those final chapters. I was surprised by some of those moments (in a good way) that they took a direction I wasn’t expecting.

I thought the romance plot for this book was awesome. I appreciate that every book has a different feel with the romance and that it’s not repetitive. This allowed space for a nice platonic friendship and a romantic swoony one too. I loved the side characters and all of the well researched historical aspects too. I loved seeing Caroline’s growth and self discovery and her resilient nature to figure out key elements of her past.

Another fabulous book for this series you won’t want to miss.

Overall audience notes:

Historical Fiction + Romance
Language: none
Romance: kisses
Violence: moderate
Content Warnings: miscarriage (side character), infidelity (side characters)

This book had me not wanting to put it down. I was drawn to the story with the pirate theme as well as in the alternate lifetime. What a unique story! This book will pull you into history like nothing else and have you rooting for both timelines.

While some of the elements are harsher due to the time period, they are presented in a way that is appropriate for teen readers and they would love this series. While the other books should be read before this one, I feel like more than the others, it could stand on its own.

TRIGGER WARNING that I so wished the publishers would have stated in the front or back cover because I would have never read it and given a poor rating if I had known. A Miscarriage happened to a side character in some detail. In my opinion it need not have been included for the story plot point, there were much better, less traumatic and triggering to sensitive reader ways to reveal the characters true identity.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC, this is my honest review unfortunately. I do plan to continue the series and hope in the future this publisher will have content warnings.

I’ve really enjoyed this series and recommended it to others. That said, this one was not my favorite. It was ok, and I enjoyed the love story parts in particular.
I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review. 3-1/2 stars.

Across the Ages is another brilliant addition to the awesome Timeless series by a super gifted storyteller who once again makes time-crossing believable! As with all the other books in the series, I was completely immersed in this story from beginning to end. Imagine living two lives simultaneously—one on a pirate ship in the Caribbean in 1727 and the other in the USA in 1927! The twist in this fourth story is that Caroline Reed/ Baldwin starts out with no idea why she has what she considers a “curse” and is clueless as to how it works. The story that unfolds is her desperate search for answers about her past, present, and future. Two well-paced storylines, wonderful characters, amazing history, sweet romance, and valuable faith lessons with themes of redemption and forgiveness combine to make an unputdownable, inspiring read. This book joins the other three books of the series on my Best Reads Ever list! I highly recommend this book and the series as must reads for dual-timeline, time travel, and/or historical romance fans!

I definitely enjoyed this read more than the prior installment, which frankly relieved me. I adored books 1 and 2, but 3 defo wasn’t my jam - so I was a little nervous picking this one up.

I was glad I’d literally just finished 3 before diving into this one; I felt a lot more connections between 3 and 4 than with the other books - passing references or Easter eggs earlier were nearly outright “it’d be helpful if you read 3 before picking up 4” here. I was also disappointed that the MC didn’t have a fellow time-traveling guide to help her and answer questions (another divergence from prior installments, and it didn’t play out well for me - it just made me nervous!). I’m not quite sure why the author decided to go either route so late in (at the end of, really) the series.

But, I did really enjoy the two timelines, and geeked out a little as I love “Pirates of the Caribbean” probably more than I should, haha.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I’m very disappointed to say that I didn’t enjoy this installment in the series. There’s nothing I love more than the idea of the 1920s and pirates. I was so excited when I got approved on NetGalley to review the ebook.

I feel like my major concern came from how disconnected from the rest of the series it felt. It felt more like a spin off than I direct sequel. I didn’t like that Caroline had no connection to another time traveler for guidance. The fact she didn’t know the rules, took away that suspense of knowing how each action matters and that you can possibly lose a timeline because of your actions and the birthday rules. By time Caroline finally learned that, it felt rushed and too late.

I knew what the historical notes were supposed to be paralleled with, but I also never found myself feeling like I was in those historical timelines like I did with the other books. It felt more name dropping to make it feel like the timeline instead of really setting the scene.

Last but not least, I know it’s Christian fiction, but this definitely had a heavier hand/lean on the Christian “speak” especially with her father being a preacher in the 1927 timeline. So just a fair warning if that’s not something you enjoy.

Apparently this series was going to end with book 3 until there was feedback from fans to have this book. Part of me just wished it stayed 3 books. While it was a just fine book, it missed the mark with the bar the other 3 books set. I just expected something more after it being delivered in the rest of the series.

I’d still 100% recommend this series, but this one just wasn’t as good as it could have been to meet my expectations.

I loved a lot of this -
🤍Thank you Gabrielle Meyer for the arc of this book 🤍

This author has a way of just immersing readers in her stories! She effortlessly combines two timelines and takes you on an emotional and beautiful adventure.

I loved the cast of characters in Across the Ages. Not to mention that the storyline kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.

I will definitely read more from this author!

My only complaint was the religious aspect of this story, I felt like it was used to escape digging into some hard things and made the FMC a little rigid in her personality.

From the creaking timbers and salty sea air aboard an 18th-century pirate ship to the glittering but dangerous speakeasies of the roaring twenties, Gabrielle Meyer’s newest novel takes us on an unforgettable time-traveling adventure!

Across the Ages is the fourth book in Meyer’s Timeless Series, and while book one is hard to beat, this latest novel is vying closely for the spot of my new favorite!

Caroline lives in both 1727 and 1927. Each night she goes to sleep in one life and wakes up in the other. Searching for answers, Caroline stumbles across a letter from her mother, hinting at her own experiences as a time-crosser, sending Caroline on a quest to uncover the truth.

This book was nearly impossible to put down. While this is the fourth book in the series (and I highly recommend reading them all in order) Meyer still manages to bring something fresh and unique. In this book, we have our first time-crosser who has grown up without any guidance or understanding about how time-crossing works — and this adds a new element to the story.

The 1727 and 1927 settings are detail-rich and well-researched and Meyers always brings some fun historical nuggets to uncover along the way. Both storylines are equally compelling and full of their own heartfelt drama, making for a quick-paced read that left me needing to finish “just one more chapter!”

I also loved how we got to see some familiar characters from the past. (No spoilers!) Meyers weaves these timelines and books together expertly and always manages to come up with some brilliant new time-traveling twist or detail to surprise me. As the series continues, it’s fun to see all the connections and links line up.

Across the Ages has a strong Christian faith arc woven throughout (perhaps more so than any of the previous novels in the series) and I appreciated the beautiful themes of redemption, forgiveness, and what it means to live life faithfully for the glory of God alone. The love story is clean and sweet, and provides all the feelings of anticipation that one expects in a romance.

With its joy-filled romances and well-plotted storylines, this series has earned an easy spot in my heart and bookshelf. Cozy and bright, this feel-good story was just as bingeable as the previous books in this series. I am very much looking forward to continuing this series for as long as Meyers continues to write them!

I have eagerly awaited each and every one of these books as they have been released. I've been blessed to get several of them early through ARC's. Including this one.

Across the Ages delves into a little different direction as it doesn't follow a descendant of a previous main character--but it DOES follow someone who was referenced in the previous book. The previous book revealed some VERY interesting information regarding the time travelers (I won't spoil it by mentioning in case you haven't read it yet)--and this book follows THAT line. And the idea of "What if the girl experiencing this doesn't know why it's happening or what happens when she turns 21?"

I really enjoyed the pirate side of this story AND how everything (as usual) circles around for the characters in both timelines. I also appreciate that there is ALWAYS a faith message embedded in this series. This particular book was more about redemption and living for God no matter what.

I think I preferred the previous 3 books to this one--but only by a smidge. And I will eagerly be awaiting the next ones!

4.5 stars (but 5 for the sake of NetGalley)

*I was given an ARC of this book by the publisher and NetGalley to review. All opinions are 100% my own.
