The writing in this was really quite realistic and beautiful. It grabbed me and I enjoyed the pacing, the storyline, the characters; it was a good continuation from the first book.
However, from what I understand after discussing this with a friend who is MUCH more in the know than I when it comes to the book/publishing world, the series stops here. Apparently, the first two books didn't do as spectacularly as would have been preferred and there was some ABB, so the next book was not requested.
So, this is a good two books to read if you want to write your own ending in your head/as fanfic.
I think the Big Twist at the end was 100% easy to see coming and I'm kind of pissed that ALL of the characters were too stupid to see that it was a VERY good possibility that the demon would have done what it did. I mean, I can see it and I'm not from a family with hundreds of years of demon banishing under my belt.
Also, the theology in this is not really sound, but I read it as fiction and it didn't bother me. Just be warned if you are looking for a Christian fiction, this is not it.
4, despite the lack of any further books and the entire family being TSTL to further the plot at the end I really enjoyed this book, stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and Egmont USA for an eARC of this book to read and review.
