Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Caña is pure, unfiltered delight! As a fan of the Vega Family Love Stories series, I found this book to be the absolute gem of the collection. Leo and Sofi have such fiery chemistry and complex layers, making their love story all the more irresistible. Watching them navigate their feelings had me rooting for them from the very start. The humor, spice, and emotional growth—both as individuals and together—are beautifully done. Plus, seeing the beloved Vega family characters again adds a heartwarming familiarity. This book had me giggling and kicking my feet. Highly recommend for anyone craving a vibrant, passionate rom-com!

This was a fantastic addition to the Vega Family series! I had been waiting for this story and was not disappointed. The history that Leo and Sofi had was epic and the story itself was so good. I was just rooting for these two all along! Sofi got a little on my nerves, but in the end it works out and she gets over herself. And Tostón was literally my favorite character in this whole book!

Sofi and Leo have a long and hidden past. When Sofi returns to Chicago after Leo’s brush with death, she’s not sure where they stand. Leo has always been fine with casual, but after being shot he’s ready to get serious. Either Leo is going to convince Sofi to go official or he’s cutting ties. When Sofi ends up moving in with Leo thanks to his meddling family, Leo seizes the opportunity to show Sofi how he has changed. Sofi can’t deny her chemistry with Leo, but is she ready to trust not only him, but herself as well?
With Natalie Caña’s trademark humor and vulnerability, this is another top notch romance.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Natalie Cana for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
I started reading this series in Fall 2023 as encouraged and driven by the 23 for 23 challenge and Natalie is one of the many must read authors I discovered during that "challenge". I loved the first two books and book three did not disappoint.
We had glimpses of the push and pull between these two in the first books in the series and the payout for waiting until book three was so worth it! I loved the ADHD rep and just overall loved seeing these two get their HEA! (As Katherine Center says: that is not a spoiler, it is just something to look forward to.)
AS ALWAYS for this series- the hijinks of the conniving elders just really makes this series soooo endearing.
I'm sooo hoping this series does not end here. There are so many more relatives and side stories to explore.

Sofi & Leo have a long on-and-off again (enemies to lovers) relationship that they have kept secret from almost all of their close-knit group of family and friends. Sofi and her best friend (Leo’s sister) recently reconnected after a big fall out during which Sofi was estranged from all of them. Now that she’s back, Sofi ends up in a forced proximity situation with Leo and we see how they navigate their gravitation to one another.
This book has all the elements and tension I enjoy in rom-coms. But far beyond that, it’s so much fun to read books with Latino representation. This book does it well because it captures the heart of the characters’ cultural pride and, importantly, not in a stereotypical manner. Sometimes the English language does not have phrasing that truly captures the essence and emotions of something the way Spanish does, so I loved that Spanish was sprinkled in when it fit better.
I also appreciated the mental health and ADHD representation, which is significantly lacking in the Latino media spaces.
This book is part 3 in the series, but works as a standalone. I am definitely going to read the first two!
My only issue was the third act conflict, it felt kind of unnecessary.
Solid 4⭐️

Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Cana is a enemies / friends to lovers romance I enjoyed the Vega family again ! Sophie and Leo are hilarious their families are hilarious I love this interaction I love the banter I love the storyline this was a good time !!🩷🩷🩷Natalie Cana can do no wrong!!! Her writing keeps you coming back for more.

I was so excited for this book but it ended up falling short of my expectations. It should've been a quick read but FMC ended up driving me crazy. I love an imperfect FMC but not when it's all at the expense of the wonderful MMC. In the end I really did enjoy the book up until the last 80%. The ADHD rep was great and I really enjoyed the Puerto Rican culture. I loved having to look up the Spanish throughout the book - there were some funny one liners too! especially from the grandparents who were huge meddlers that were a great time. I really wish it had ended in a way that I enjoyed, but I don't love third act breakups and this one didn't sit well with me at all.
This book definitely has its audience even if it wasn't quite me!

Another excellent addition to the Vega Family series from Caña - and what a fantastic series it is!
I really enjoyed Leo and Sofi’s story. Their long-term, secret, on-again, off-again romance that was hidden since high school because he is Sofi’s best friend’s older brother… Sofi had left town and her friendship with Kamilah and her relationship with Leo were over, but she is now back - back from the studying abroad trip to Paris the girls were supposed to do together, and the catalyst for the break in their friendship. Back after other family issues finally came to a head.
The whole thing about getting trapped into caring for a stray dog together… and everything surrounding that part of the storyline? Chefs kiss! If you only get this book for the dog, you won’t be disappointed.
I know this is my favorite book in this series - it’s just so good! I absolutely recommend it. Too many excellent things happening but the cute dog is the very best part. The way the second chance comes about is the next best. Excellent Latinx representation. Everyone needs to read it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing (MIRA) for an early copy. This is my honest feedback.

I love Natalie Cana's writing. Her characters feel so real and flawed but I am always rooting for them to succeed. I love seeing two characters fight loving each other and keep trying to get over each other but they just cant. This book also features beautiful friendships, found family & personal growth. I love this series and hope it never ends.

Thank you HTP for giving me the chance to read an early digital copy of Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Cana. I was immediately drawn to this one based on the cover. I have heard of the other 2 books in this series, but I have not read them yet. I do think that this one can be read as a standalone and that you don't necessarily need to read the other two in order to fully understand or enjoy this book. I like that our two main characters had a bit of a complicated past. Although you couldn't pay to be in a roommate situation with any of my exes, it was a fun scenario/premise for a book. Of course, we knew it was only a matter of time before things turned romantic again. I can't wait to go back and read the other two books in this series.

I love everything Natalie Caña has written, but honestly this new one is my favorite, and it seems serendipitous that this romance (centering Puerto Ricans) came out on the heels of absolutely disgusting rhetoric against Puerto Ricans.
After the reveal of a pretty big lie from her best friend, Sofi cut contact with the entirety of the Vega family and left for France. But now, a year and a half later, she’s forgiven her bff and is back in Chicago. And one of the people she needs to deal with is her best friend’s brother - Leo - who she’s had an off again on again thing with since they were teenagers and who felt abandoned by her when she left. Once they’re thrown back together, Leo is determined to have a real and not secret relationship with Sofi, but after feeling abandoned by her dad and still being stung by her fight with Kamilah.
I LOVE a second chance romance and this did such a good job with the familiarity but hurt that are central to a second chance. I’m also obsessed with their grandparents who are kookily pulling strings in the background. I also love the way Caña shows Sofi’s struggle as a Puerto Rican woman, but also as an Afro-Latina in contrast with the Vega family’s Puerto Rican identity. Leo has adhd and the hurt he long term feels from how he was treated growing up felt super true to life and I loved how vulnerable he was. This was funny and spicy and sweet and I just loved it.
This is for you if you love:
🇵🇷found family
🇵🇷best friend’s brother
🇵🇷Latine, Afro-Latine, and adhd rep
🇵🇷second chance romance
🇵🇷kooky grandparents
🇵🇷the dog is a character
🇵🇷third act breakups that make sense
Anyway I love this whole series and you should read them all

PUERTO RICO x Second Chance Lovers 🇵🇷😍
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ 🌶️
After realizing running away to her dream travel destination didn’t solve all her problems, Sofi finds herself back home in her mother’s apartment trying to find her true passion and make amends with the Vega Family. Well all but her ex - sex buddy Leo who she left high and dry. Leo, still struggling to get back to his normal after being shot, finds himself falling back into old habits around Sofi but hoping for a better outcome.
Leo’s patience and dedication to being a present and supportive partner was truly endearing. You could see his intention to growup from that goofy kid that just went with the flow. The vitriol Sofi often spewed towards those who didn’t deserve it made her so hard to root for even with the knowledge of her upbringing. Otherwise her go getter, business mind was something to be admired.
This second chance romance moved along pretty smoothly minus the second act breakup that was hard to read. I didn’t feel like their was a balance of emotional maturity or responsibility. Leo truly understood and appreciated Sofi, but she constantly questioned his character. The onus was on Leo to make things right and I did not feel he should’ve been the one to go through such great lengths.
At the core of this book was a sweet love letter to Puerto Rico. I loved the nods to the island, the acknowledgment of the devastation from Hurricane Maria, the cuisine and specific music artists across the genres. I also appreciated the inclusion of Dominican artists and bachata to help tie in her father’s heritage. It was jam packed with cultura and nothing screams Boricua more than an outfit covered in Puerto Rican flags for a Puerto Rican Parade. This aspect definitely uplifted some of the heavier tones of abandonment, racism and trauma.
This was my least favorite book and couple of the series. I felt like the previous two couples had a more equally yoked relationship. Whereas I feel like Leo gave, gave and gave but was expected to take what he can get and just patiently wait for Sofi to eventually offer more.
I will say though, this book seemed a lot spicier than the other two and I’ll give an additional half a star for that fact alone. I’m hoping we get another installment of this series featuring one of the twins, or both I’m not picky!
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing | MIRA for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Warning: This book does involve the discussion of trauma, abandonment, racism, mental health representation, a shooting (off-page) and familial death (off-page).

I truly enjoyed getting to know the Vega family in Natalie Caña's first two novels- A Proposal They Can't Refuse and A Dish Best Served Hot- and I was so happy to discover that the third book in the trilogy, Sleeping With the Frenemy, is just as wonderful as the first two.
Leo Vega is recouperating from a gunshot wound from a year ago and is secretly trying to get strong enough to get his job back as a firefighter. In the meantime he is working at his soon-to-be brother-in-law Leo's whiskey distillery creating craft cocktails.
When his his sister Kamilah's best friend (and his secret on-again, off-again lover) Sofi returns to Chicago from Paris, Leo wants to pick up their affair and make it public. Leo wants Sofi to acknowledge them as a couple, something Sofi reluctant to do, fearing it will complicate her already rocky relationship with her best friend Kamilah.
While Sofi fights her growing attraction to Leo, he pulls out all the stops showing her what she is missing. When they end up living in the same apartment, sparks and more fly. Caña writes spicy scenes just about better than anyone. You may need to crank up the AC as you read these sexy scenes.
I love that once again, as in the first two novels, Leo's grandfather works overtime to get two people together, this time along with Sofi's grandmother. I also liked that we circled back to Kamilah and Leo, the couple from the first Vega Family novel, as planning for their wedding plays a big part in the story.
I also get to brush up on my Spanish language skills reading these novels, and I like the feeling of community you get reading about this proud Puertominican neighborhood in Humboldt Park. I highly recommend Sleeping With the Frenemy and all of the Vega Family novels. I hope we get to see more of them in the future.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. This was a cute quick read. I loved the representation of people of color in a romance book. Getting to see different cultures highlighted is always a plus. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance. The miscommunication throughout this book was insane. I wanted them to just get on the same page. I loved how characters from the other two books were sprinkled into this one. I'm looking forward to going back and reading the other 2 books in the series. Another special touch in this book were the grandparents. Good read overall!

I love this book. It was so good. Remind me very much of Priscilla Oliveras who I adore? This was a series. I think it was the third one. It said the Vega family. So I have not read the first 2 but you can cheer bet that I will be reading next so obviously. This book can also be a stand alone. This is the story of sofi and leo - sofi and Leo have known each other for years and years and years. Leo sister is her best friend. But the secret is that they've been a secret. Nobody knows that they've been on and off since teenage years this is third story and how they are trying to reconnect and make something work. If they can-- throw in the best friends, wedding and Sophie needing to figure out what she's doing with her career. And then you add in a meddling set of grandparents. (Sofi's Grandma and Leo's granddad. Who are my favorite and I need them to have a sequel ASAP.) What's a new dog? This book was so good i highly highly highly recommend it. Gotta go now. Need to go read the first two

I absolutely love stories where the characters are so complext and multifaceted. With this gem we get to revisit the Vega family right where things were left off with the bomb drop in Sofi's life. The tension between her and Leo was burning up my kindle!!! Really enjoyed how the author build up Leo as a MMC that is not just one sided. There can be times were you can roll your eyes at and in another instance you just want things to work out for him!

Readers opening this book will feel they’ve arrived at a Vega family reunion. Personalties leap off the page- the mischievous humor of the grandparents, the cute antics of the only grandchild, and the Vega siblings who found their own loves (from her two prior novels). The romance between Sofi and Leo is grounded in these close family ties, in the pride they have in their Latino backgrounds. Excellent read !
This ARC was provided by the publisher, Miramar, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so emotional about the whole series, but I was not prepared to see myself so clearly in the character of Leo. His journey with ADHD and how his parents were dealing with it was something that hit very close to home, even as an adult. My main trouble with this book was how Sofi responded to Leo in the “prologue” and how she expressed herself about his family and mainly his sister. It really felt super disrespectful and I felt that it was never resolved(apologized for). I loved seeing the shenanigans of Abuelo Papo and Abuela Fina, and how into it Leo was. I loved that Natalie gave these siblings such healing HEA and made them go through it to get where they belonged.

It pains me to say this one wasn’t for me! I was very excited for the first Afro-Latina FMC in the series, only to really dislike her. I thought she would eventually grow on me but she never did.
However I enjoyed being back with the messy but loveable Vega family. Seeing the previous couples happily in love warmed my heart.
I appreciate the representation covered in this book with speech impediments and adhd diagnoses. Also a sapphic couple who doesn’t want children and seems to be seen as complete without them. If there is one thing I can count on Natalie for, it’s making her books informative.

Leo and Sofi have a past, a long drawn out past that seems to be never ending, even when Sofi ends it over and over. Leo has gone through such a traumatic event and he knows he's ready to settle down. He wants to stop playing the games he has in the past and when Sofi comes back he is determined to get her to see they are meant to be together.
Sofi had a lot of apologizing to do after "breaking up" with her best friend and leaving the country for some much needed time away. Now she is back and planning her friends wedding all while trying to resist falling for her brother, again.
Sofi and Leo have some deep rooted issues and it shows in the way they communicate with one another, but there is absolutely no doubt that they love one another. They just have to be able to trust themselves more than anything to be what the other needs.
I really loved this book up until the conflict, it felt like she got more upset than she should have and it made me like her less. I am really glad that she had a conversation with her dad though, after 10 years of just trying to be what he wanted her to be. They both need to enroll in some therapy. I really did enjoy this love story though, mostly because Leo was just so sweet.
Thanks to Harlequin, Natalie Cana and Netgalley for an early copy.
